on behalf of the Palestinian people

and the leader of its national patriotism,
00:00:54

00:01:00
to extend my sincere congratulations on your nomination for
00:01:06
presiding over the General Assembly
00:01:11
for the UN 29th session
00:01:17
Indeed, you have been known for being loyal and devoted
00:01:25
especially with freedom, justice and peace issues.
00:01:33
ِAlso, you have been known as one of the first patriotic poineers
00:01:41
during the Algerian Patriotic Liberation War
00:01:47
Nowadays, Algeria has lived up in its role and its national and international responsibilities
00:02:00
to a lofty level that is recognized and appreciated
00:02:08
by all the nations all over the world.
00:02:14
Also, I shall seize this opportunity
00:02:20
to heartily thank His Excellency
00:02:28
Dr. Kurt Waldheim,

to enable us fully do our responsibilities as they should be.
00:02:54
Mr. president! Today, I shouldn't overlook to congratulate,
00:03:04
on behalf of the Palestinian people,
00:03:07
three countries on their independence. Theygained their national independence
00:03:16
and memberships in the UN as well;
00:03:23
they are: Guinea-Bissau, Bangladesh and Grenada
00:03:32
We wish for the leaders of these countries the best of luck and progress.
00:03:44
Mr. President, I extend my gratitude for inviting the (PLO)
00:03:55
to participate in this UN General Assembly session.
00:04:05
I heartily thank all honorable UN members who participated in listing
00:04:18
the Palestinian question in this assembly's agenda,
00:04:26
and those who helped issue a resolution for our invitation
00:04:30
to present the Palestinian question.
00:04:34
It is an important occasion to return consideration of the Palestinian question
00:04:44
to the UN. We consider this step a victory for the International Organization
00:04:57
and for the cause of our people as well! As such will constitute a new indicator;
00:05:08
that the UN today is totally different from the past,
00:05:15
and this is due to the fact that today's world is also different.
00:05:23
Today, UN represents 138 countries.
00:05:33
It started to clearly reflect
00:05:37
the will of the international group.
00:05:42
Hence, it became more capable
00:05:48
to apply its charter and the principles of the International Declaration
00:05:55
of human rights. It is now more able to defend justice and peace's issues.
00:06:07
This is exactly what has been touched by our people and the people of Asia,
00:06:17
Africa and Latin America. This attitude has raised the position of this International
00:06:30
Organization at the sights of our people and at the sights of all the world.
00:06:38
This attitude heightens the hopes that all the world attach to the UN's contribution
00:06:48
in defending the issues of peace, justice and independence
00:06:56
to create a new world
00:06:59
free from colonialism, imperialism, neo-colonialism and racism in all
00:07:11
its forms including Zionism.
00:07:19
Mr. President, we live in a world that aspires to peace, justice, equality
00:07:30
and freedom, it aspires to see those oppressed nations under colonialism
00:07:43
practicing their freedom and their rights in self-determination.
00:07:50
Today's world aspires to witness the international relations based
00:07:57
on the peaceful equality, coexistence, non-interference in internal affairs
00:08:07
and securing the national sovereignty and independence on the basis of justice,
00:08:17
equality and mutual benefits. The world aspires that humanitarian efforts focus
00:08:28
on combating poverty, famine, diseases natural disasters and on developing
00:08:38
the productivity, scientific and technical abilities for human beings to help
00:08:47
increase the wealth and to narrow the gap between the developing and developed
00:08:55
nations. All these hopes collide with the global reality which is full of turmoil,
00:09:05
oppression, racial discrimination and exploitation .
00:09:10
Moreover, the world is still threatened by economic disasters, wars and crises.
00:09:19
Many peoples, including Zimbabwe, Namibia, South Africa, Palestine etc. are still
00:09:33
victims to aggression and oppression.
00:09:38
These parts of the world witness armed conflicts imposed by the forces
00:09:47
of colonialism and racial discrimination in an unjust and terrorist way!
00:09:52
So, the oppressed nations had to defend themselves,
00:09:57
and their response is just and legal.
