00:00:14
hello dear friends, today I’m
00:00:17
starting a new carpentry project on my channel
00:00:18
and it will be dedicated to the
00:00:20
currently fashionable topic, these are tables made from foreheads, for
00:00:23
this I specially ordered a few
00:00:25
weak ones
00:00:26
and specially ordered a taxi, I
00:00:28
thought for a long time about what to do better with glass
00:00:30
or epoxy I still came to the
00:00:32
conclusion that glass is not yet available to me; it’s
00:00:34
very difficult to cut shaped glass; it’s
00:00:36
very difficult to process the edges, that is,
00:00:38
I don’t have the conditions for this now, but it’s
00:00:40
even possible to work with epoxy
00:00:42
on the market, that is, on the Internet there are
00:00:44
now a lot of different resins from
00:00:46
different manufacturers
00:00:47
these are polyester or epoxy resins and
00:00:50
most of them allow you to pour a
00:00:52
thin layer, that is, no more than 10
00:00:54
millimeters, but on average a little
00:00:56
more a little less,
00:00:57
however, as it turned out, there are also a pack of
00:00:59
strong resins that allow you to pour a
00:01:01
large layer of material, this is a layer of up to 60
00:01:04
millimeters I
00:01:06
will definitely show you the epoxy and now we will move on
00:01:09
to considering the material that will be
00:01:10
used, again on the Internet through a
00:01:12
transport company, I ordered
00:01:14
several slabs
00:01:15
for this project and for future
00:01:17
projects and for some orders and now
00:01:20
we will select some boards from
00:01:22
which we will make a countertop,
00:01:24
I live in a small town and we
00:01:26
don’t have a single transport
00:01:27
company in the city, so in order to save on
00:01:29
delivery I had to order a
00:01:31
large volume at once, that is, I ordered weak for
00:01:33
several projects and ordered a pack of mesh,
00:01:36
too, for more than one of this current project, taking
00:01:39
into account the use in future
00:01:40
projects, let's first look at the weak one
00:01:43
that came to me and choose
00:01:45
two of them, which will be tabletops, and so
00:01:47
they are our services,
00:01:48
this old one is clear, 35
00:01:51
millimeters thick, until the next project,
00:01:54
until the next project I'll leave it difficult so as not to interfere, and so
00:01:56
those two boards which I will
00:01:58
use in this project is elm,
00:02:00
thickness 53 millimeters, chamber-
00:02:02
drying material, in any case, even if during
00:02:04
transportation they took a little moisture,
00:02:06
take it all the moisture has already gone when ordering,
00:02:09
be sure to specify
00:02:10
if the board is specified as 50 millimeters, then I
00:02:13
really should have
00:02:14
53 millimeters minimum that there
00:02:17
must definitely be a margin left for processing, although
00:02:19
in fact on such wide boards we
00:02:22
will probably get 45-48 millimeters or
00:02:25
more, these boards I took from the company will be a
00:02:27
concept for anyone interested, you will find the link in the
00:02:29
description of this video, we
00:02:31
leave a side here, if you are
00:02:36
interested, this board is also elm thick
00:02:39
35 millimeter board with a simple pattern,
00:02:42
but I needed this part
00:02:44
because there is a very good matting
00:02:46
texture here and here you can play with the
00:02:48
color to make quite interesting
00:02:50
products, a project for and there with my own, I haven’t
00:02:52
figured out how
00:02:53
long it will take for us to have a sword and there is also this one
00:02:55
large footprint its thickness is 60 millimeters
00:02:58
maximum width 50 centimeters this is
00:03:01
also for a future project very dense
00:03:03
wood is very compacted with cotton wool here there were
00:03:06
cases I specifically chose just such
00:03:08
a texture and there is also such an asterisk as
00:03:10
you understand this is a cut of the butt part the
00:03:12
material is oak very dense this is a
00:03:15
deadwood spirit therefore it has a very beautiful
00:03:18
edge that just needs to be lightly
00:03:19
processed, it immediately has the necessary
00:03:22
decorative properties, this is also a topic for a
00:03:24
future project, but now let’s not get
00:03:26
distracted and move on to considering
00:03:28
bauxite and epoxy resin, as
00:03:30
I already said, it allows you to fill a
00:03:32
layer of up to 60 millimeters at a time
00:03:35
They are supplied with it in these buckets.
00:03:37
The project is large, so I had to take a
00:03:39
large volume at once. It’s a modified epoxy resin,
00:03:42
it has increased
00:03:44
fluidity due to which it does not require
00:03:46
vacuuming, that is, when you
00:03:48
mix, in any case,
00:03:50
air bubbles will get in, most of the
00:03:52
compositions require the creation of a vacuum when pouring
00:03:54
in order for the air bubbles
00:03:56
to increase and float to the top then when the
00:03:59
pressure is released, that is, it
00:04:01
normalizes, the remaining bubbles
00:04:03
become very small and even if
00:04:06
they remain, I just can’t see two
00:04:08
buckets of component a component of component a,
00:04:11
of course it’s larger and the bucket is full, here’s
00:04:13
component b here a little bit smaller
00:04:15
and higher than those declared by the manufacturer,
00:04:17
I will consider the first three resins do not
00:04:19
require vacuuming 2 it is absolutely
00:04:21
transparent
00:04:22
and the third most important thing is that I need
00:04:24
this filling at a time up to 60
00:04:27
millimeters, but this resin also has a
00:04:29
small minus since this modified resin
00:04:31
has increased fluidity it has a
00:04:33
very long hardening time of about
00:04:35
a week, it will harden,
00:04:37
however this small minus
00:04:39
is actually not a minus if we take an
00:04:41
average pack of mesh and salt
00:04:43
it in a thick layer, then when it hardens,
00:04:47
internal stress will inevitably form, these internal
00:04:49
stresses can then affect the most
00:04:51
unpredictable way then there is little
00:04:53
man the resin may burst with
00:04:56
some stains on top this is all very
00:04:58
bad very ugly this resin due
00:05:00
to the long hardening time
00:05:02
allows you to avoid these very
00:05:04
internal stresses of the products it will turn out
00:05:06
stable yet here you see I have a
00:05:09
small box here too
00:05:13
the company itself is of a different type and attempts just
00:05:15
for the sake of curiosity, I’ll show you this,
00:05:19
Artek epoxy,
00:05:21
this epoxy can be approved quite
00:05:23
quickly, well, it allows you to fill it with a thin
00:05:25
layer, also of a jewelry nature, that is,
00:05:27
absolutely transparent,
00:05:29
here on the window we have a hardener, then
00:05:32
we have a color scheme scalar 2 blue green
00:05:35
box for now I’ll leave the sides
00:05:37
I’ll answer right away To answer any questions that may arise,
00:05:40
you saw two coolers, they are intended
00:05:42
only for the pack mesh, that is,
00:05:44
we will not paint this pack mesh,
00:05:46
the filling will be transparent, again, to
00:05:48
eliminate possible questions about where to
00:05:50
buy it and how much it costs, link to the
00:05:53
company and the bathtub I will give in the description of
00:05:55
this video
00:05:56
you will go through and you can see everything yourself and
00:05:58
order it in my small cramped
00:05:59
workshop, of course it won’t
00:06:01
work so we are moving to the
00:06:03
attic now I will do some
00:06:05
preparation and start milling
00:06:07
I have already shown how this is done well let’s
00:06:09
repeat it again I will use
00:06:11
Festool router and in 1400 you can take
00:06:14
for example a model, but the power of the router
00:06:15
needs at least 1600 watts for this project
00:06:19
and I prepared for a very long time very carefully
00:06:21
and not specifically for this project for
00:06:23
such a milling cutter,
00:06:24
this is a milling cutter de mar, let me print it right away
00:06:27
and show it to you bye here I have good
00:06:29
lighting right away if anyone is interested you can
00:06:31
look at the article number this is a cutter with an
00:06:34
extended shank the prize is quite
00:06:36
heavy so I would not recommend you
00:06:38
to use some cheap
00:06:40
Chinese router me the router must
00:06:42
be with the correct collet the
00:06:44
correct rating looks like but the
00:06:46
correct rating
00:06:47
if you look at it’s one cone, if
00:06:51
you have a cone then a neck, then most likely the
00:06:53
collet won’t work with this example, these
00:06:56
milling cutters hold the cutter very poorly, the
00:06:58
cutter can crawl out, firstly, and
00:07:00
ruin the workpiece, secondly, it’s dangerous,
00:07:02
so please use a good
00:07:04
tool, this is what the cutter looks like,
00:07:06
this is a cutter disk diameter 52 millimeters the
00:07:09
height of this prize is small because
00:07:12
it is designed specifically for
00:07:13
leveling the surface, we most often
00:07:15
remove a very thin layer, so the
00:07:17
height of the cutting edge we need is very
00:07:19
small; another feature of this
00:07:22
prize is not a special form of sharpening the tooth; there
00:07:24
is a very small chamfer;
00:07:29
this is a chamfer Firstly, it allows you to
00:07:31
visually minimize those differences
00:07:33
between passes that will inevitably
00:07:35
occur, and secondly, the most important thing is that due to
00:07:38
this small chamfer, we do not have a
00:07:40
break in the fibers at the edge,
00:07:42
if you use, for example, a regular
00:07:44
straight groove cutter, then in problem
00:07:46
areas there may be small chips and
00:07:48
then it will be very difficult to grind
00:07:50
this cutter is specially designed for
00:07:52
surface treatment and this is done, well, most
00:07:54
often a trough with a slot is made in the stocks
00:07:57
and a router runs in it; this trough
00:07:59
naturally conceals the overhang of the cutter and
00:08:02
therefore the shank is not that long, and I’ll
00:08:05
also show you on the shank there is a
00:08:06
special mark further these are the marks,
00:08:09
you can’t pull out the shank of the cutter, this is where
00:08:12
such a long introductory speech is
00:08:13
over and it’s time to move to
00:08:15
the attic and start leveling the swaps, the
00:08:18
sawhorses are aligned, you can
00:08:20
move on to milling,
00:08:22
I’ll first mill the bottom side of each board
00:08:24
separately, and then I’ll put the two boards
00:08:27
together and mill them at once in one
00:08:29
pass; the board is generally flat, but there is still a
00:08:33
small propeller present at this
00:08:35
length;
00:08:36
it’s about one and a half millimeters; in
00:08:38
no case should the board dangle;
00:08:40
I’ll use two
00:08:42
pieces like this to fix the
00:08:44
board; the vertical plane
00:08:46
prevents the board from moving; and the horizontal plane prevents the board from moving;
00:08:48
prevent
00:08:50
swaying, the board does not wobble or
00:08:55
move, we do the same on the
00:08:57
reverse side
00:08:58
[music]
00:09:12
we [music]
00:09:29
I have been working with this slipway for quite a
00:09:31
long time and worked mainly with narrow
00:09:33
cutters, but now the crease is large and it
00:09:35
simply does not fit into the groove here, so I
00:09:38
I made recesses here, I will fill the cutter,
00:09:41
and then the cutter will go lower from the
00:09:43
surface
00:09:45
[music]
00:10:22
we [music]
00:10:48
the board is almost flat now you
00:10:50
see the stripes, the stripes are wide, more than 50
00:10:53
millimeters wide, the stripes are obtained due to the
00:10:55
fact that the cutter is from one side to
00:10:58
one side of the other
00:10:59
wraps the fibers a little, this is inevitable and
00:11:01
therefore these stripes differ only in
00:11:04
gloss, in fact the surface is smooth,
00:11:06
both are weakly aligned on the bottom side,
00:11:08
now I remove the stop and turn them over, they are
00:11:11
weak and I will drive 2 weakly in one
00:11:14
pass, this is strictly necessary, otherwise the
00:11:16
plane may not meet
00:11:19
[music]
00:11:26
as you can see, the boards do not wobble, this indicates
00:11:29
that our plane is maintained
00:11:33
[music]
00:11:37
[applause]
00:11:38
[music]
00:11:54
if you are prepared and light sanding with
00:11:56
120 grit has completely removed all
00:11:59
risks from the cutter, everything is ready for pouring
00:12:01
with epoxy, but there is one more very
00:12:04
important preparatory operation ahead Now
00:12:06
I need to make a base on which
00:12:09
these weak ones will lie in order to fill them with
00:12:11
epoxy so that the epoxy does not run away. I’ll
00:12:13
briefly tell you in a nutshell what the
00:12:15
preparation for the rails will consist of. I
00:12:17
naturally remove them because they won’t
00:12:19
interfere. I lay out the weak ones so that I
00:12:22
get something more more or less
00:12:24
even width of the tabletop,
00:12:26
that is, what the table will look like in
00:12:28
the end, after that, using a
00:12:30
plunge-cut saw on the rail,
00:12:32
I trim two loosely
00:12:34
on one side and on the other in one pass, while
00:12:37
relative to each other, I do not change the position of them,
00:12:39
correct, even I will need the ends here
00:12:42
in order to screw
00:12:44
two strips here from the ends,
00:12:45
these will be just sides so that
00:12:47
the epoxy does not run away and so that
00:12:50
the epoxy does not go down on itself, it will
00:12:52
also not run away, I will also make an additional
00:12:55
base from plywood, I
00:12:57
will make 10 millimeter plywood with a small margin
00:12:59
and also this plywood will most likely
00:13:01
have to make sides so that later
00:13:04
it can all be covered, for example with a piece of fiberboard so that
00:13:07
God forbid this epoxy does not burn,
00:13:09
otherwise it will take a very long time to go through the
00:13:11
conclusion and if the garbage still sinks it will be
00:13:13
completely ugly
00:13:14
I apologize for being too detailed There are
00:13:16
basically a huge number of these tables on the
00:13:19
Internet, but everywhere there is
00:13:21
only action, no one can
00:13:22
tell you anything, so I want to correct
00:13:24
this situation
00:13:30
so that it is better to destroy the end faces,
00:13:32
I will screw the bar onto self-tapping screws and
00:13:35
here I will apply double-sided tape, it will be screwed on with
00:13:37
self-tapping screws, they will go into the ends
00:13:40
completely a little and further I will
00:13:42
still cut it off shortens 100
00:13:44
personality
00:13:45
we
00:13:49
[music]
00:14:08
rigidity and a plywood sheet is of course
00:14:11
not enough
00:14:12
so it will definitely be necessary to
00:14:13
attach bars from below bars it will
00:14:16
definitely be necessary to scare off
00:14:17
drive through the flight so that our
00:14:19
plane is not disturbed
00:14:20
[music]
00:14:35
here on this all the preparatory work
00:14:37
is completed and I’m moving to my main
00:14:40
small workshop to
00:14:42
prepare the epoxy resin pours. In
00:14:44
principle, of course, you can pour it here in
00:14:46
the attic, but here the temperature is quite low,
00:14:48
I have about plus ten degrees here, and
00:14:51
for normal setting of the epoxy
00:14:53
you need optimally plus 22
00:14:56
[music]
00:15:04
we begin to prepare the filling tax bright
00:15:06
both types of component and this is the resin her
00:15:08
component b this is the hardener they are mixed
00:15:11
they are proportions 100
00:15:12
to 35.2 sinful everything will be on the scales and I
00:15:16
took this container for a
00:15:18
year and a half in I the container is just
00:15:20
enough for one portion of preparation I will
00:15:23
I still have this one
00:15:25
and a half meter container to pour in parts, and I will
00:15:27
use the container to pour the
00:15:29
resin between words; pour from this
00:15:32
container in which we will mix it is
00:15:33
extremely undesirable because no matter how
00:15:36
carefully we hang it,
00:15:38
we will still have more near the walls one
00:15:41
composition inside there are more debts and in the process
00:15:44
I will already pour a little bit
00:15:47
before they interfere, but then our composition
00:15:49
will be homogeneous
00:15:51
[music]
00:16:47
[music]
00:16:58
[music]
00:17:06
[music]
00:17:12
but
00:17:15
[music]
00:17:30
well, what can I say missile I’m not very
00:17:33
careful
00:17:34
made a lot of bubbles, well, as I
00:17:38
said, and the pack mesh really does not
00:17:39
require vacuuming, all the fine
00:17:42
foam in the form of bubbles has floated to the top and the
00:17:45
composition is absolutely transparent, the [ __ ] has
00:17:48
very, very small holes, but the pack
00:17:50
sitka goes in there very uncertainly
