now for many years uh the five seven by00:01:09
28 was pretty much relegated to the FN00:01:12
P90 and their 5.7 pistol and there was00:01:16
not any real competition but then all of00:01:18
a sudden a lot of companies started00:01:20
coming out with the 5.7 whether it was00:01:23
the Ruger five seven the PSA Rock the00:01:26
Smith and Wesson 5.7 but also one that00:01:29
is probably the most unusual of the00:01:31
bunch maybe excluding the P90 is the00:01:35
Kel-Tec p50 this is a very unorthodox00:01:40
looking handgun and it is a handgun they00:01:43
do make a carbine version of this but it00:01:46
has a nine and a half inch barrel so00:01:48
it's double the barrel length of your00:01:50
fn5700:01:51
and so it gives it a lot more velocity00:01:53
yet while it's big and kind of clunky00:01:56
looking it actually handles like a00:01:59
pistol you can shoot this with two hands00:02:01
it comes with a strap we're going to00:02:03
take a look at that which really makes00:02:04
this a very viable self-defense option00:02:06
but one of the big pluses for this00:02:09
firearm is that it uses the FN P90 mags00:02:13
which are the horizontal mags that fit00:02:16
inside the receiver and it is P9000:02:20
magazine compatible and so you have a00:02:22
lot of choices with this gun I'll just00:02:24
be honest I've been really excited about00:02:26

one of the biggest drawbacks for the 5.700:02:58
has been ammo cost at one point it was00:03:01
fifty dollars a box that's a dollar00:03:02
around but we're seeing it coming down00:03:05
more and more and it's really great to00:03:08
see a lot of different firearm companies00:03:09
coming out with the five seven by Twenty00:03:12
Eight it's really been driving the price00:03:14
down which makes this more affordable to00:03:17
shoot especially with a 50 round00:03:20

all right the Kel-Tec p50 guys again00:03:34
this is just a very strange looking00:03:37
firearm and it's awkward I mean it's big00:03:40
it's bulky looking and it just has some00:03:44
weird features to it something that you00:03:45
would see out of you know alien or00:03:48
something on Halo and you know the thing00:03:50
is is science fiction a lot of times00:03:52
moves technology it kind of like gives00:03:56
us ideas it's dreaming and people move00:03:58
into it but this is just something00:03:59
that's very unusual but I'll tell you00:04:02
um you know again once I take this to00:04:03
the range I really changed a lot of my00:04:06
opinions about this gun first off it00:04:09
looks like it's super heavy I mean it00:04:11
just looks like a big ungangly awkward00:04:13
piece when you take it to the range00:04:15
though it shoots really well it weighs00:04:17
about three pounds we'll look at the00:04:18
exact weight in a minute but just00:04:20
putting it in that two-hand grip I mean00:04:22
you can fire it the one thing about this00:04:25
pistol though that really kind of00:04:26
changes the game other than a brace and00:04:28
of course we're going through that right00:04:30
now but is this sling and this is00:04:32
included uh the sling makes this a very00:04:36
viable self-defense option because it00:04:40
has low recoil and it's a very low00:04:42
recoil and yet it's got a really00:04:44
effective round coming out the end00:04:47
super fast and really easy to manage and00:04:51
that's one of the big pluses for this00:04:53
gun also with the magazine uses the P9000:04:57
magazines it's a 50 round capacity00:05:00
so first thing let's do is let's go00:05:02

I would get it hung up in the sling if I00:09:37
had it on the other shoulder I didn't00:09:39
but what I love about having it on this00:09:41
side is that I can rest my cheek on this00:09:44
and it almost acts gives you some00:09:46
stability like a stock and so that to me00:09:49
was just a huge plus and guys honestly00:09:51
this sling is very well made and it is00:09:54
fully adjustable and you can set it up00:09:56
how you want to the barrel is 9.6 inches00:09:59
and it is threaded by half by 28 threads00:10:02
and so you can put a suppressor on there00:10:04
or a muzzle device if you want there's00:10:06
no interchangeability with the grip00:10:08
there's no magazine in the grip and it's00:10:10

weight but honestly you can't really00:10:16

it's just a very cool firearm now I did00:10:22

we were using it uh the mount for it for00:10:27

there is no last round bolt hold open it00:10:51

the bolt are all in the top and here you00:11:35

right we have a 115 grain bullet up to00:12:04
147 grain here we have a 40 grain bullet00:12:07
and they do make some smaller loads as00:12:10
well and then we have the 556 which the00:12:13
US military uses a 62 grain bullet going00:12:17
at 3 150 feet per second 23 to 2500 feet00:12:22

and about 1200 feet per second and so00:12:26
they were really looking to replace the00:12:27
nine millimeter but they use the five00:12:30
seven as an intermediate cartridge in00:12:33
fact it's used by over 40 countries for00:12:35
their military so it's definitely one of00:12:38
those intermediate cartridges that has a00:12:40
really good ballistic coefficient and00:12:42
yet it doesn't really replace the nine00:12:44
millimeter for close up and yet it00:12:46
doesn't replace the 556 for longer00:12:48

for the five seven by Twenty Eight we00:12:53
were seeing it a dollar around earlier00:12:55
this year we're now seeing it down to00:12:58
about 56 Cent per round and that was the00:13:02
lowest I found it so that's not bad but00:13:05
with the nine millimeter we're seeing it00:13:06
for good quality ammunition about 2000:13:09
cents around and then for the 223 or00:13:12
5.56 is about 36 Cents around so we00:13:16

The Recoil is very mild that makes it00:20:37
nice this pistol is definitely very00:20:40
unusual looking it's large it's ungangly00:20:43
and yet with the soft recoil it shoots00:20:46
very well and you can shoot it with two00:20:47
hands or you can come in and bring the00:20:50
sling threaded barrel we've got a long00:20:52
picatinny rail to put sights in00:20:54
different Optics and of course you have00:20:56
your front rail for lights and lasers00:20:58
it's very simple design and that's one00:21:00
of the big things about it at the range00:21:02
we had no malfunctions whatsoever a very00:21:05
easy to work on very the manual of arms00:21:08
is very intuitive and so it's really00:21:10
surprising once you take this out00:21:12
because really when I looked at it I was00:21:14
like what in the world when I went to00:21:16
the range I was like I really like this00:21:18
gun so it's great again to see five00:21:21

bit heavy but not really compared to the00:21:42
FN series firearms and now that we're00:21:44
