the five seven by 28 caliber has always00:01:04
been really interesting to me they first00:01:06
developed it in 1990 through nato00:01:09
with the fn00:01:11
ps90 and then the fn5700:01:15
which was a pistol to fire that same00:01:17
round it's a small neck down little00:01:19
bullet it is center fire and this was00:01:22
actually designed for more close quarter00:01:24
type combat it doesn't over penetrate00:01:26
and yet it has really high velocities00:01:28
and can actually go through body armor00:01:30
at least level one or level two body00:01:32
armor and it's one of those calibers00:01:34
that was designed for combat since that00:01:37
time there have been a number of00:01:38
different firearms that have been00:01:40
brought to market00:01:41
including the ruger 57 which we've done00:01:44
a review on it and now the psa rock one00:01:47
of the things about that caliber is00:01:49
super light recoil00:01:51
i mean it's almost like shooting a 22 or00:01:53
22 magnum and yet you're getting some00:01:56
really good self-defense ballistics and00:01:58
so it makes it very appealing for those00:02:00
who want light recoil those who are00:02:02
sensitive to recoil or those that are00:02:04
new shooters and it's a very flat00:02:06
trajectory now out of the rifle you can00:02:08
get 200 yards00:02:10
out of a pistol definitely considerably00:02:12
less than that but still it's a very00:02:14
accurate round but there's a number of00:02:16
different carbines and small rifles that00:02:19
are being produced in 5.7 now one of the00:02:21
big problems with five seven right now00:02:23
is that the price is pretty high in fact00:02:25
it's about fifty dollars a box and00:02:27
that's what i've been paying for it uh00:02:29
even at psa which they have it there it00:02:31
was funny i was looking at one of my00:02:33
older videos for the fn57 and i quoted00:02:36
16.99 for a box of ammunition so00:02:39
hopefully this will come back down to at00:02:41
least a more reasonable price but at00:02:44
this point right now00:02:45
this is what we're getting but it's a00:02:47
very high performing round now one of00:02:49
the big things about using this as a00:02:50
self-defense option is you need to make00:02:52
sure your ammo is self-defense ready and00:02:55
we'll take a look at that when we do our00:02:57

but again guys this is a real pleasure00:03:02
to shoot at the range it's very easy the00:03:04
recoil is mild00:03:05
one thing though is that it does have00:03:08
quite a bit of sound to it i mean it's00:03:10

now the beautiful thing about the 5.700:03:33
caliber is that it's thinner thinner00:03:36
than your 9-millimeter thinner than a00:03:37
lot of your self-defense calibers so00:03:39
you're going to be able to get more00:03:40
rounds in your magazine in fact 2300:03:43
rounds plus one in the chamber that's00:03:46
going to give you a lot of capability a00:03:48
lot of ammunition and of course you do00:03:50
get two magazines with the pistol now00:03:52
there are some plus sides there are some00:03:54
downsides and we're going to try to go00:03:55
through it but for the 5.7 caliber it's00:03:58
really hung in there and it's getting00:04:01
more and more popularity because there00:04:03
are a lot of great features of the five00:04:05
seven caliber the five seven by twenty00:04:07
eights in the middle the five five six00:04:09
or 223 is here on the right and then we00:04:11
have nine millimeter and it's thirty00:04:14
percent less recoil than your nine00:04:16
millimeter so it's going to be really00:04:18
softer shooting a lot less muzzle flip00:04:20
when it comes to the 556 or the 22300:04:23
you're getting considerably more00:04:25
velocity but you're typically shooting00:04:27
that out of a rifle or a pistol with a00:04:29
brace on it there's no actual parent00:04:31
case for the 5.7 but it was designed00:04:34
really close to the 22 hornet but now00:04:36
the rock is taking on that palmetto00:04:38
state armory look and with the dagger00:04:41
which we have one right here um same00:04:43
kind of lines designs a lot of the cuts00:04:46
it's nice to see palmetto state armory00:04:48
really starting to have their own style00:04:51
with the regular ar15s i mean there's a00:04:53
lot of different ones out there but this00:04:55
is giving palmetto state a little bit of00:04:57

one has one of the wheaton arms00:05:01
flat-faced triggers and one of their00:05:03
barrels so it's not quite stock but this00:05:06

but they're fairly reasonable in price00:05:48

that's kind of long and it's longer than00:06:06
a lot of your other self-defense00:06:07

grip a little bit longer but it also is00:06:12
very thin and you have some palm swells00:06:15

it fits in your hand nice but it's00:06:19
definitely a bit of a larger pistol this00:06:21
is not something for concealed carry00:06:23

just like your ar1500:11:32
in fact it looks like a mini 556 or 22300:11:36
but that makes it really easy to load00:11:38
and these magazines again are similar to00:11:40
your steel ar15 mags00:11:43
but when you're loading00:11:44
23 rounds it'd be nice to use a mag lula00:11:49
but it's not really difficult to push00:11:50
those in00:11:53
and this being a dollar around we're not00:11:55
gonna be doing any mac dumps00:11:59

now when it comes to 5.7 uh i've done a00:12:12

it's a lot less expensive than the fn00:12:24
and i kind of really like the design a00:12:25
little bit better the fn is a little bit00:12:28
different it's just got a different look00:12:29
to it a different feel to it but again00:12:32
it's really expensive when it came to00:12:34

this is a great shooting gun the00:12:38
ergonomics are fantastic i love the grip00:12:41
on this that texturing they are fairly00:12:43
large pistols but they have this really00:12:46
large round and really going at really00:12:47
incredible velocities and yet the recoil00:12:50
is about nothing we really enjoyed00:12:53
shooting it it's just a super flat00:12:55
shooting gun but you can feel the power00:12:57
coming out of an end with this link it's00:13:00
very pointable and i'm just curious to00:13:02

but with the cost of ammo being about a00:14:04
buck a piece that was 250 dollars and00:14:06
i've been buying this up as i can at 5000:14:09
dollars a box but as far as reliability00:14:11
goes we had one malfunction00:14:19
and guys other than that one malfunction00:14:21
or that failure to eject that was the00:14:23
only issue that we had the whole time00:14:25
granted it is a limited round count and00:14:27

mean it was just a smooth shooting gun00:14:32
but guys when it comes to accuracy00:14:34
this thing is a beast00:14:52
now as far as disassembly we're going to00:14:54

these are your take down tabs and so you00:14:59
want to first pull your trigger take00:15:01

back a little bit and then pull forward00:15:05

actually kind of like the canning00:15:19
and then we take our recoil spring and00:15:21

thing's about this barrel is it's fluted00:15:29
and so it's going to lessen the weight00:15:32
but uh it's really more of a blowback00:15:34
type striker fire pistol so it has kind00:15:37

the inside of the slide is beautiful i00:15:42
mean the finishing on this is just like00:15:44
a mirror finish almost i mean they00:15:46

thing that i had to overcome was pulling00:16:39

simple design and yet for a really cool00:16:50
caliber as far as ammo choices there are00:16:52
a lot that have been developed in 202200:16:55
you know i don't know what the ammo00:16:56
situation is with five seven by twenty00:16:58
eight because there has been a pretty00:17:00
big disruption and guys i'm sure that00:17:02
there's other ammunition out there and00:17:04
as more ammunition becomes available00:17:06
again which it has been00:17:08
these rounds are going to be more00:17:09
available one thing about the federal is00:17:12
i'm seeing it a lot and so it's really00:17:14
good to see it but again it is fairly00:17:16
expensive at this point00:17:19
so a dollar around and some of these are00:17:20
going to even go up above that in fact i00:17:23
believe the fn was about 60 a box so00:17:26
it'll just add a little bit to it the00:17:27
rnr weapon systems and this is a 4000:17:30
grain bullet but it's fragmented and it00:17:33
has a jacketed hollow point00:17:35
and this is really an excellent00:17:36
self-defense round so you really want00:17:39
something that will penetrate but you00:17:41
also want something that will expand00:17:42
especially in these calibers but another00:17:45
option is to save your brass and you can00:17:47
reload because it is a center fire00:17:50
caliber00:17:51
and one of the things about this00:17:53
compared to a 22 magnum is the 22 magnum00:17:56
is rimfired it's not going to be as00:17:58
reliable as your centerfire ammunition00:18:00
plus the velocities are not anywhere00:18:02
near your five seven by twenty eight00:18:05
now it comes in this really nice soft00:18:07
case has a identity tag here with psa00:18:11
then when we open it up00:18:13
here we've got your pistol it is secured00:18:15
into the case even has a muzzle guard at00:18:17
the front and you have magazine pouches00:18:20
here and here and we have our lock00:18:24
you have a chamber flag and then here in00:18:25
this little sleeve we have our owner's00:18:27
manual so a really nice setup by psa now00:18:31
pros and cons a price is a big one these00:18:34
are coming in at 499 and that's what00:18:36
they're going to be 4.9900:18:38
so just a much cheaper price than even00:18:41
your ruger five seven which was coming00:18:42

hundred dollars for it when it first00:18:46

magazines are going to be fairly easy to00:18:50

and they should be at a reasonable price00:18:53

it as far as reliability we had one00:20:32
malfunction and it just didn't eject the00:20:34
round that could have possibly been ammo00:20:37
related but other than that we didn't00:20:39
have any problems but again we only shot00:20:41
about 250 rounds now i'm really wanting00:20:44
to compare this head to head at the00:20:46
range with the ruger 5.7 maybe even the00:20:48
fn5700:20:50
and then also the 22 tcm by rock island00:20:53
armory that is a great little round00:20:55
that's really screaming coming out the00:20:57

these really high velocity performers if00:21:03
they're good for self-defense and two if00:21:05
it is this would be a great gun for00:21:08
beginning shooters00:21:09

the range you know 22 is great this00:21:15
gives you a little more power but again00:21:17
the biggest deal is the ammo is a lot00:21:19
