K-pop septet BTS awarded with the Order of Cultural Merit from the South Korean government on October 24 (KST). During the award ceremony of '2018 Korean Popular Culture & Arts Awards' held at Olympic Park, Seoul, Cultural Minister Do Jong-hwan gave the medal to the seven members of BTS on behalf of President Moon Jae-in. BTS' seven members, the youngest and the first-ever idol group members to receive the medal, were awarded for their outstanding meritorious services to the promotion of Korean pop culture and Hangul, the Korean alphabet. On this day, the government gave cultural awards to 36 artists or groups, among which cultural medals were bestowed to 13.
