When you get close enough, you have three options for the initial encounter: 1. Bait out their hit: When near your opponent, hold up your shield, jump and spam left click, hovering your crosshair over your opponent. This ensures that if they disable your shield, you have a guaranteed hit (or even crit) as they drop their shield to hit you. Continue to spam left click after they disable your shield as they may attempt to then bring their shield back up, allowing you to disable it too. 2. Disable their shield first: If you want to take the first hit and avoid your opponent hitting you back, hang just within your reach and disable their shield, then move back out of their reach. You can't always guarantee you'll be out of reach, so to be safe hit them as they're jumping up so they only land a weak hit on you, instead of a crit. 3. Go for a backstab: Jump around or even through your opponent, then quickly spin and crit them from behind where they're not protected by their shield. Feel free to continue to spam click if you then want to disable their shield, but if you're confident you can keep backstabbing over and over as they cower behind their shield. If you don't want to be the victim of this attack, be quick off the mark and spin around with your shield still up as soon as you see them drop their shield and jump around you, while spam clicking so you can land a free hit when they disable your shield. After this initial encounter, it's likely that both you and your opponent's shields are now disabled, so you can start trading hits with each other. I like to strafe to the right, jump and quickly turn to land crits on the edge of my reach. It's very important to note here that you can't land crits while sprinting, so let go of forward and sprint just before you hit your opponent, then press them again right after. If your health gets too low or they get a really good combo on you, don't be afraid to run away and let your shield recharge so you can repeat the encounter - hopefully with better luck. Otherwise, if you're mid fight and both your shields have recharged, just start over from the beginning. --------------------------------- Basically, this is a guide on how to PVP like Dream, or how to PVP like Technoblade in Minecraft 1.9 PVP. Despite both of these battles taking place post 1.9, they both build on the principles of Minecraft 1.9 PVP.
