The "Ura" in Urayasu is an archaic word that refers to the heart, and "Urayasu" expresses peace of mind, that could be said as ultimate value of Japanese traditional culture. It should also be noted that Japan has been called as “Urayasu-nation” since it was used in the "Nihon shoki" (Chronicles of Japan) about 1300 years ago (around BC 720).
