This video is aimed at bringing and updated version of the LinkStage3 interface customization tutorial including a brief Pie menu setup guide. It is also intended as a preparatory video for the upcoming series on a CNC design and assembly as I grown incredibly accustomed to this interface layout and I don't want people to get confused. A written rundown of the steps for a easier execution: 1- Go to the link in the video description and download the latest daily of Freecad LinkStage3 https://github.com/realthunder/FreeCAD_assembly3/releases 2- Move the appimage to a convenient folder 3- Open a terminal in that folder and type ./FreeCAD-*version --system-cfg $PWD/link.system.cfg --user-cfg $PWD/link.user.cfg. This will create 2 files that allow you to test the modifications whitbought touching the main FC configuration. When you are happy with your modifications you can copy these two files in the main FC config directories. 4- Only for Mac and global menu linux users - Go to Tools → edit parameters → BaseApp → Preferences → mainWindow and add a new Boolean value called ClearMenuBar set to true 5- Edit → Preferences → General → General → "Stylesheet" change to Dark Blue →"OverlayStylesheet" change to Dark-Outline →"Size of toolbar Icons" change to 32 →"TreeViewMode" change to “Both” → Based on your preferences change “Tree view icon size to” 22 and “Tree view item spacing to 8 6- Edit → Preferences → General →Document → Check "Save thumbnail into project file" 7- Edit → Preferences → Display → 3D View → Use OpenGL VBO → Anti-Aliasing change to MSAA 4X → Pick radius change to 10 px if on a greater then 1080p display → PreSelection delay change to 0,010 8- Edit → Preferences → Display→ UI → Item Background Color change to "6e6e6e" alpha 20 → change “Item background padding to 25” →Check “Hide extra column” →Uncheck “Check Navigation Cube” → Change “Hint delay” to 10 → Change “Layout delay” to 100 → Change “Animation duration” to 300 or whatever you like the most → Change “Animation curve type” to InOutExpo →Pie Menu check “Trigger action” 9- Edit → Preferences → Display → Navigation →3D navigation of your choice → Orbit style change to Turntable → Rotation mode change to Window Center → Check Enable animation 10- Edit → Preferences → Display → Colors → Top Color Gradient change to "6e6e6e" → Object being edited change to "868686" → Active container change to "55aaff" 11- Edit → Preferences → Display → Draw styles → Change “Ground Transparency” to 1 → Uncheck “Ground shading” 12- Apply arrange your panels then restart FreeCAD 13- Start a new file, → toggle overlay for the tree view and click the eye icon → toggle the overlay for the combo view and based on preferences enable “Show on edit” 14- Set up your pies :) Linkstage3 is a development branch of freecad used by project contributor RealThunder to test new features that hopefully will be merged with master.
