Adaptive Cruise Control radars sometimes require calibration. After refitting the bumper, changing wheel alignment, replacing suspension, or after collision system should be recalibrated to work properly. If front facing #ACC radars are not set properly, you can get error message like "ACC and audi braking guard: unavailable" (also Front Assist, Traffic Jam Assist, Lane Assist) and a C1103 fault code in module 0x13 and/or 0x8B. Dealer will charge you $500 or more to readjust the radar but luckily you can do it yourself without specialized #calibration tools. This video tutorial will guide you though the process of enabling back ACC in Audi S6 C7. ℹ️ In this car the front bumper was removed for engine service. After refitting it ACC was not available and there was a B2005 fault code ("data record invalid") which means that the radar was disconnected for too long and it's required to perform parametrization so the radar "knows" that it's installed in this specific type of bumper. You can do it with VCP and you need to select what kind of bumper you have (standard, S-Line, S, RS). ℹ️ System started to work, but after few kilometers there was a fault code present in module 0x13. C1108 F0 - Adaptive cruise control sensor - Restricted View. At closer look the radar itself was not fitted properly and was wiggling up and down facing the bumper. After pushing it back in place and clearing the fault, ACC was working again. ℹ️ Few hundred kilometers and another fault code appeared in module 0x13. This time it was C1103 00 - Adaptive Cruise Control Sensor - misadjusted. Module 0x8B had code U1113 00 - Function limitation due to received malfunction value. This means that the 0x13 radar (right side) is not pointing in the right direction and the 0x8B radar (left side) will also not work because of that remote fault. ℹ️ This Audi is fitted with "old type" or radar which is adjustable with two 3.5mm screws. One for up-down, one for left-right. So as long as you have the 3.5mm socket and you know which way you should turn the screw, you can fix the adjustment issue. In both module 0x13 and 0x8B you can go into live data section and check misalignment angle value. Tolerance is between -0.8 and 0.8 degree. This car had the right radar set off by -1.36 degree. 🛠 Removed the radar cover, located the screw, mark it with white paint to be safe, rotate it half a turn clockwise, then connected with module 0x13, entered security access code 91153, went to Basic Settings and performed "Reset misalignment angle for sensors" procedure. Then checked and cleared faults in both 0x13 and 0x8B ACC modules. And took the car for a test drive. 🔍 After 10km or so I checked new value for misalignment angle and it was within the tolerance but far from perfect. Rotated the screw another half turn clockwise and took the car for another test drive. Fault did not reappear but after couple hundred more kilometers I will recheck the angle and try to bring the value as close to perfect 0 as possible. 💲 Factory and dealer are using more expensive calibration method. Vehicle on assembly line (or inside a garage) needs to be standing still, in controlled conditions (wheel alignment, tire pressure, no cargo, level surface, fuel level), with calibration board precisely placed in front of the car. It can takes few hours and around $500 on a Golf MK7 (single radar), $1000 on S6 (two radars), or more. DIY method is cheaper even if you had to buy OBDeleven and phone just for this. 🚗 The same procedure should work for other VAG cars (VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda) with single front radar or dual radars that are adjusted by two 3.5mm screws.
