The Atlantic salmon is a species of ray-finned fish in the family Salmonidae which is the largest salmon and can grow up to a meter in length. It is found in the northern Atlantic Ocean and in rivers that flow into this ocean. Most populations of this fish species are anadromous, hatching in streams and rivers but moving out to sea as they grow where they mature, after which the adult fish seasonally move upstream again to spawn. When the mature fish re-enter rivers to spawn, they change in colour and appearance. Some populations of this fish only migrate to large lakes, and are "landlocked", spending their entire lives in freshwater. Der Atlantische Lachs gehört zur Gattung der Lachse und lebt größtenteils im Atlantischen Ozean. Im Spätherbst ziehen die Lachse jedoch weit die Flüsse Europas und Nordamerikas hinauf, um an den Oberläufen zu laichen. Am Ende dieser „Laichwanderungen“ legen die Weibchen ihre Eier ab, und die Männchen befruchten diese. Da die Wanderung und der Laichakt für die Tiere sehr anstrengend ist und sie zudem häufig auf dem Weg keine Nahrung aufnehmen, stirbt der größte Teil der Lachse an Erschöpfung oder dadurch begünstigten Krankheiten, bevor er das offene Meer wieder erreicht. 大西洋鮭（學名：Salmo salar）又名安大略鲑，是主要分佈在北大西洋海域及周边河流的一種鮭魚。
