We have to admit, there's something about the idea of a 40 foot long, 1-ton heavy snake that's enough to leave anyone quaking in their boots! It's the largest snake that ever lived and experts thought it was extinct. But they don't have any other explanation for the existence of extremely large snakes in the world. The Titanoboa is a water snake and it may be been living unnoticed in the world's rivers to this day. The famous snake Wessie from Montana was spotted in a river once and said to be as large as a truck. A while later a policeman even found a giant snakeskin in the same area, and no one's really explained what kind of snake it is. And here's the interesting bit- according to scientists, it's simply not possible in today's environment for snakes to get as large as the Titanoboa anymore, so is this snake not only gigantic but also ancient? We hope they find out soon. Terratorin Years ago, a giant bone was found deep inside a lake. Researchers thought it was the leg bone of an Elk at first but turn out that it was the wing bone of a bird. Now you must all be wondering how big a bird has to be for its wing to be confused as an elk bone. Researchers estimate that the bird had to have a wingspan of about 12 feet. The biggest bird in history is the Terratorin in Argentina, and its wingspan can at most be 24 feet and averages 12 feet. Yes, it went extinct ten thousand years ago but people still keep spotting giant birds in the sky all over the world. And let's not forget the Thunderbirds from American Indian legends! We're forced to wonder where this giant bone came from and what that means for the existence of a human-snatching giant bird whose wings make a sound like thunder when they flap.
