The trucker's hitch is a great camping knot that you can use to add a great deal of tension to a line. The truckers hitch is most commonly used to secure your camping gear in a truck, trailer or cargo basket. I mentioned in the video that you can double the force applied to a line, if fact, you actually triple the force. The method demonstrated in the video use a simple slip knot to form the loop this is the quickest and easiest way to form (and to untie) the trucker's hitch and will be adequate for most uses. When a more secure knot is needed I recommend forming your loop with a bowline on a bight or an alpine butterfly knot I will be doing a tutorial video on both of these knots in an upcoming video. Other use for this knot are adding tension to a line to be used as a clothes line or the ridge line for a tarp.
