Welcome to the hot end replacement guide for Pro2 systems.
00:00:12
This guide will assist you in all the necessary steps for removing, replacing, and aligning the hot ends in your Pro2 system.
00:00:22
To begin, use the touchscreen to lower the build plate.
00:00:26
Open the 'Utilities' tab, and use the blue downward arrow to lower the plate to a comfortable working height.
00:00:32
(Approximately 5-12 inches)
00:00:35
Unload the filament completely.
00:00:38
For more details on how to unload filament, visit our Filament Basics guide.
00:00:43
From the home screen, select the nozzle temperature and set it to "0" to begin cooling.
00:00:49
To speed up the cooling process, you may also enable the cooling fans.
00:00:53
To do this, open the "Tune" tab, and set the fan speed to 100%.
00:01:01
Once the hot end has reached an ambient temperature, disable the cooling fans.
00:01:08
And power off your printer.
00:01:10
Use your 2.5mm hex wrench to remove the two securing screws from the cooling fan.
00:01:16
For both the left and right sides. These screws are located closest to the front of the machine.
00:01:22
Set the screws aside and let the fan hang out of the way.
00:01:26
Next, loosen the four set screws located inside the heating block.
00:01:30
These do not need to be removed, but only broken free to allow for an easy release
00:01:36
once the hot end has been removed.
00:01:37
Use your 2.5mm hex wrench to loosen the hot end securing screw.
00:01:42
This will allow you to remove the hot end from the securing collar.
00:01:46
Continue to loosen the four set screws to release the wiring.
00:01:50
Once loosened, slide the hotend off the wiring to completely release it from the machine.
00:01:59
Inspect your replacement hot end and verify that the heatsink lies flush with the base of the large cylinder.
00:02:06
If adjustments are needed, refer back to the nozzle replacement guide.
00:02:11
Position the hot end so that the screws are facing outwards.
00:02:15
Insert the wiring into the heater block with the red wire into the bottom hole,
00:02:20
and silver wire into the upper hole.
00:02:22
Ensure the wires are inserted completely, then secure them by tightening the 4 set screws with your hex wrench.
00:02:30
Install your hot end by inserting it into the fixing collar.
00:02:34
Make sure it is inserted all the way up, and secure it with its screw.
00:02:42
Rotate the Z thumbscrew counter clockwise one full rotation to prepare for alignment.
00:02:49
Power on your unit.
00:02:51
From the home screen on the touch screen, select the Z axis home icon to home your Z axis.
00:02:59
Set the temperature for both nozzles to 180, and allow it to reach temperature.
00:03:04
Once the temperature is achieved, enable the left nozzle by selecting the corresponding nozzle icon,
00:03:11
and selecting the downward arrow.
00:03:13
Next, use your feeler gauge to adjust the Z offset distance to the left nozzle.
00:03:18
When properly calibrated, the nozzle should provide friction, without requiring excessive force.
00:03:24
To adjust the distance, rotate the thumbscrew outwards to bring the bed closer,
00:03:29
And rotate the thumbscrew inwards to move the bed further away.
00:03:33
Each adjustment should be made incrementally, and the printer will need to be homed
00:03:38
between each adjustment.
00:03:39
For more information about Z-Offset adjustments, reference the Z-Offset video guide on this channel.
00:03:46
Once the desired height is achieved, we will adjust the right nozzle.
00:03:50
in respect to the current bed position.
00:03:52
Open the 'Utilities' tab, and enable the right nozzle.
00:03:56
Set the temperature for both nozzles to "0"
00:04:00
And allow them to cool completely.
00:04:03
Once the hot ends have been cooled completely, insert the feeler gauge underneath the right nozzle,
00:04:10
And loosen the securing screw for the hot end.
00:04:15
Allow gravity to rest the nozzle onto the feeler gauge, then tighten the screw to secure this position.
00:04:22
Now that both nozzles are properly calibrated, lower the bed position to a comfortable working height.
00:04:29
And reinstall the cooling fans.
