00:00:15
this video is not about what you are
00:00:17
seeing on screen this is just some old
00:00:19
footage that i put together because the
00:00:21
real focus of this video is about what
00:00:23
i'm going to say
00:00:27
this is for anyone who is interested in
00:00:29
drawing and who wants to improve and get
00:00:31
better it's not just about drawing
00:00:33
though this video could also be of use
00:00:35
for anyone who wants to get better at
00:00:36
something drawing is just the example
00:00:39
i'm using because the content i make is
00:00:41
usually related to the subject of
00:00:43
drawing and being creative
00:00:45
the reason i have created this video is
00:00:47
to give some advice on the things i have
00:00:48
learnt from my experience with drawing i
00:00:51
create a lot of realistic drawings which
00:00:53
is a style of working among all the
00:00:55
others out there it's not the only way
00:00:57
of working there is a wide variety of
00:00:59
different styles and different artists
00:01:01
who create their own artwork but whether
00:01:03
you are interested in realistic drawing
00:01:04
or not i hope that the advice i give in
00:01:06
this video can be of some use so let me
00:01:09
get a piece of paper and a pencil i'll
00:01:11
do some drawing and over that i can talk
00:01:13
about what you should do to get better
00:01:15
at it
00:01:17
so i've decided to put this one first
00:01:19
because i think it's essential if you
00:01:20
want to learn and improve at a fast rate
00:01:23
and that is to draw every day it might
00:01:25
sound like a bit of a task to make time
00:01:27
to draw every day but it doesn't have to
00:01:29
be a full drawing it could be as simple
00:01:31
as creating a small sketch in a
00:01:32
sketchbook or doodling on a piece of
00:01:34
paper as long as you put yourself in the
00:01:36
process of either studying a subject or
00:01:39
an image and drawing it or even drawing
00:01:40
from memory using your imagination
00:01:42
drawing is about the process and the
00:01:44
more you do it the more natural and
00:01:46
easier it will become it doesn't have to
00:01:48
be a different drawing every day instead
00:01:49
you could work on one drawing over time
00:01:51
carrying out the act of drawing each day
00:01:53
will help you improve really fast don't
00:01:55
worry about not being happy with a
00:01:56
drawing or how it looks the result
00:01:59
doesn't matter because it's a process of
00:02:00
learning just draw and keep drawing and
00:02:03
over time you'll improve
00:02:05
next up is being patient which is
00:02:06
essential not just in the drawing
00:02:08
process but also whilst you are learning
00:02:10
it's not going to happen overnight so
00:02:12
you have to be patient and put in the
00:02:14
work to improve you also have to be
00:02:16
patient during the actual drawing
00:02:17
process for instance if you are working
00:02:19
on a big drawing with a lot of detail
00:02:21
it's going to take a long time and you
00:02:23
will most likely end up working on it
00:02:24
over a few days i've had drawings that i
00:02:27
work on over a few months taking over
00:02:29
100 hours so patience is important and i
00:02:32
suppose that almost ties into dedication
00:02:34
as well i think when patience and
00:02:36
dedication come together you can
00:02:38
guarantee that the end result will
00:02:39
always be better and that's because when
00:02:41
you allow yourself the time to improve
00:02:43
and you still dedicate time to
00:02:45
practicing your craft eventually the
00:02:47
results will naturally show and you will
00:02:49
no doubt improve with whatever it is you
00:02:51
are practicing
00:02:52
all right so the next one don't be
00:02:54
afraid to make mistakes it's a common
00:02:56
phrase to not be afraid of making
00:02:58
mistakes but this goes a long way in
00:03:00
learning to draw as you are learning and
00:03:02
improving you are no doubt going to make
00:03:04
a lot of them and that's perfectly
00:03:06
normal but it's really the perspective
00:03:08
you have on making them that matters the
00:03:10
most because some people lose confidence
00:03:12
when they make mistakes maybe a drawing
00:03:14
doesn't look quite as good as they had
00:03:15
hoped and so they decide not to try
00:03:17
again you see these types of situations
00:03:19
a lot and so you need to change the
00:03:21
outlook you have on it you can't
00:03:22
practice anything without making
00:03:24
mistakes at first it's the way it works
00:03:26
and the more you practice the less we
00:03:28
make them and that's because we learn
00:03:30
from them so if you draw something and
00:03:31
you are happy with the result see it as
00:03:33
a step forward look at where you went
00:03:35
wrong and why you don't like it try and
00:03:37
recognize your weaknesses and then you
00:03:39
can work on improving them don't feel
00:03:41
discouraged especially when it comes to
00:03:42
drawing because no matter how it looks
00:03:44
it's still a drawing at the end of the
00:03:45
day as long as you are practicing you
00:03:47
are doing the best thing you can so keep
00:03:49
making mistakes and keep trying
00:03:51
so this one is something that will
00:03:53
improve your creativity and inspiration
00:03:56
it's to immerse yourself in the subject
00:03:58
you are learning in this case drawing
00:04:00
looking at other artists and other
00:04:02
artwork is always useful you can learn a
00:04:04
lot from seeing how other people work
00:04:06
having the inspiration to do something
00:04:08
is as important as the motivation to
00:04:10
actually doing it we live in a world
00:04:12
that is full of people who like to
00:04:14
create and there's so much work already
00:04:16
out there there's so many social
00:04:17
platforms like instagram for example
00:04:20
where you can get constant updates on
00:04:21
other artists work use these to your
00:04:24
advantage study the subject and what
00:04:25
already exists try and see how other
00:04:28
people work i've heard some people say
00:04:30
they lose confidence looking at other
00:04:32
people's amazing artwork when you are
00:04:34
trying to learn yourself but you can't
00:04:36
look at it in this way you need to take
00:04:38
into consideration that these people
00:04:40
also had to go through a learning
00:04:41
process
00:04:42
if other people have done it then
00:04:43
there's no reason to why you can't get
00:04:45
to that level drawing is a skill that is
00:04:48
learning it's not something that you are
00:04:49
magically born with people conceive it
00:04:52
as this talent that only few people
00:04:54
naturally have but that's not the case
00:04:56
an artist has put in hours of work and
00:04:59
practice to get the results they want
00:05:00
talent can only get them so far it's
00:05:03
hard work and dedication that's allowed
00:05:05
them to create these amazing things that
00:05:06
you see there is no reason to why you
00:05:08
can't do it look at artists or things
00:05:11
that inspire you and learn from it it
00:05:13
will really benefit you and help you
00:05:15
improve
00:05:16
next up is about finding your own style
00:05:18
of working creating art and representing
00:05:21
yourself is important but dope in a rush
00:05:23
to find that one thing where you can say
00:05:25
this is my work and this is me a lot of
00:05:27
people are under this illusion that you
00:05:29
need to have a unique style that people
00:05:31
will only recognize as your ware so they
00:05:33
will see you as an individual artist
00:05:35
that stands out from the rest but that's
00:05:37
not true because before you are even
00:05:39
confident to say that this is my style
00:05:41
of working you should experiment and
00:05:43
practice in other areas first you should
00:05:45
have explored different mediums and
00:05:47
allowed yourself to try working in new
00:05:48
ways because that might unlock some
00:05:50
hidden potential it's not a necessary
00:05:52
thing to find a style finding one style
00:05:55
and sticking to it is being comfortable
00:05:57
and once you get into that position you
00:05:59
might not want to move on and improve in
00:06:00
other areas in the last few years i've
00:06:03
been creating realistic drawings it's a
00:06:05
style of drawing but i wouldn't say it's
00:06:06
my own style because i don't have one i
00:06:09
have interests in the subject and i find
00:06:11
it more appealing than other styles but
00:06:13
it doesn't have to be the one thing i
00:06:15
always have to do from now on when you
00:06:17
start drawing don't be under any
00:06:18
pressure to find your own style just
00:06:20
enjoy the process eventually you'll
00:06:22
discover things that grab your interest
00:06:24
and you can start working in that
00:06:25
direction over time you'll start to
00:06:27
develop your own taste in what appeals
00:06:29
to you as an artist and what you like
00:06:32
you'll start to understand the work you
00:06:33
enjoy creating and might even find that
00:06:35
unique thing that could eventually be
00:06:37
recognized as your style so the next
00:06:40
piece of advice i can give is to use
00:06:41
everything available every tool at your
00:06:44
disposal to help assist your work and
00:06:46
improve your drawing i'm talking about
00:06:48
things like using drawing methods like
00:06:49
construction lands and grids planning
00:06:52
out your drawing before working into it
00:06:53
more permanently is always a good idea
00:06:56
using reference images is another thing
00:06:58
that helps and that most artists tend to
00:07:00
do a lot of people use several reference
00:07:02
images that they can relate back to
00:07:03
especially when they need that extra bit
00:07:05
of assistance and a reminder of what
00:07:07
something might appear like today we
00:07:09
just search up things on google and we
00:07:11
have a library of reference images out
00:07:12
there for us to use so make use of that
00:07:15
and so finally that pretty much
00:07:17
concludes this video and the advice i
00:07:18
wanted to give you if you are looking to
00:07:20
get better at drawing or maybe you are
00:07:22
just starting out drawing and are a
00:07:24
beginner these are things that i wish i
00:07:26
knew when i had first started this video
00:07:28
was more or less on the subject and
00:07:29
mental aspect of improving to draw we
00:07:32
didn't really cover any techniques i
00:07:34
might do another video looking at some
00:07:36
methods surrounding the actual drawing
00:07:38
process but nonetheless i hope you found
00:07:40
these useful if you did then feel free
00:07:42
to subscribe i create a lot of drone
00:07:43
related content in a later video i'll
00:07:46
also finish off this shrine that we have
00:07:47
started so keep an eye out for that and
00:07:49
i'm also looking forward to creating
00:07:50
more helpful videos like this with that
00:07:53
being said thank you for watching
00:08:06
you
