Description:

Группа ВК: https://vk.com/cherepashka_shusha The Deluge (or Potop) is very specific and one of the most saddest periods in the Polish history. In the middle of the 17th century, the then hegemon of Eastern Europe was invaded by almost all its neighbours (Ukrainian Cossacks, Russian Tsardom, Swedish Empire, Brandenburg-Prussia and Transylvania). This video will show the whole chronology of this period on the map (every day). This all started in 1648 year when Cossacks, ruled by Bohdan Khmelnytsky, led a rebellion in the Polish Ukraine and even took Kiev. In 1654 Russia openly supported the uprising and attacked Polish-Lithuanian Commowealth (Rzeczpospolita) on the whole front. In 1655 Sweden after Russian successes in the war invaded Poland and began the main phase of the Deluge. Second Northern War began. Warsaw was occupied, Danzig was in a siege. Brandenburg-Prussia, Holy Roman Empire, Transylvania, Denmark and Netherlands also took part in this conflict. In 1660 after the treaty with Sweden, Poland and Russia fought one-on-one. The Truce of Andrusovo finally ended the Thirteen Years' War between them in 1667. After all that happened Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth didn't recover and weakened more and more. In 1795 Poland definitively losed the independence. Besides wiki (in English, Russian, Ukrainian, Polish, Swedish, Danish and Norwegian languages) I also used sources such as: Polish archives for the Khmelnytsky Uprising (Dokument ob osvobodytelnoi voine ukraynskoho naroda 1648-1654) Runivers for Polish-Russian and Russo-Swedish wars Local Polish sites for the Swedish Deluge and Transylvanian invasion Danish archives, local Swedish and Norwegian sites for the Dano-Swedish War Music: 1.
