Ballad from The Mighty Vikings, album RJR Band of the Year (1964? - WIRL 1030) - Side 1, Track 4. No author is credited (I also couldn't find the author, if someone knows I'll update this info). The Mighty Vikings is (yes, they still play even though not in the original formation) a five-decade-old band from Kingston, Jamaica. Often having over 15 members (and big guns such as Derrick Harriott, Lester Sterling and Jackie Mittoo) in its formation, the band played around in Jamaica until they made their first international tour in 1964 - in the same year they won the RJR Radio popularity contest in Jamaica, which led to the recording of this celebration album. This is the lineup on this album as written in its back: Vocals - Sonny Wong and Victor Wong Guitars - Wallin Cameron and Ferdy Brown Bass - Desmond Miles (who was also the band leader) Drums - Esmond Jarrett Percussion - Trevor Miles Trumpets - Bobby Ellis (real name Leslie Wint) and Peter Miles Saxophones - Headley Bennett (alto) Tony Wilson (tenor and alto) Organ - Neville Hinds Arranger and compositor - Bobby Ellis Manager - Victor Chin-Quee Manufaturated by West Indies Record Ltd.
