The first true woodturning demonstration that I ever watched on YouTube was Jimmy Clewes' turning a square oriental box. At the time, I tried my hand at turning it and it was mildly successful. I ran across one of Jimmy's demos just the other day so, I thought it would be fun to try this project again after gaining 2 years of experience, and also add my own little flair to the design. This solution reacts with the tannins in the cherry and causes it to oxidize and turn a dark brown, almost black. The finial is made from East Indian ebony. Then the entire thing was finished with Hampshire Sheen Danish Oil. I had a sticker swap to catch up on as well.
