00:00:00
all right oh there is so much going on
00:00:03
with the Russia Ukraine war situation
00:00:06
being overshadowed by the tragedy
00:00:09
happening in Israel but we we want to
00:00:12
talk about both of those we also want to
00:00:14
talk about what's going on here in the
00:00:17
United States to help me make sense of
00:00:19
all of it I have Max Blumenthal from the
00:00:23
grayzone to come on and and help us Max
00:00:27
thank you so much for coming on he to
00:00:30
see you Stephen so I love the work that
00:00:32
you guys are doing over at the gray Zone
00:00:34
you you are exposing stories that the
00:00:37
mainstream media just refuses to touch
00:00:41
and uh you've you know we've texts back
00:00:44
and forth you've shared things with me
00:00:45
that have been incredibly eye-opening uh
00:00:48
and so I appreciate that the the first
00:00:50
thing that I want to jump into is as of
00:00:53
this morning members of Congress are
00:00:56
trying to pressure and persuade
00:00:59
President Biden to do another emergency
00:01:02
airlift evacuation to get Americans out
00:01:05
of Israel as as quickly as possible is
00:01:09
that the right move uh has most of the
00:01:12
chaos subsided and now we can just get
00:01:14
them out regularly because what we don't
00:01:17
want to see is another chaotic Deja Vu
00:01:20
scene like we saw in Afghanistan where
00:01:23
there's panic and uh you know people
00:01:26
falling out of airplanes what are your
00:01:28
thoughts on that well wouldn't it
00:01:30
certainly wouldn't be an Afghanistan
00:01:32
situation um these are people who are
00:01:36
dual Nationals and not people who have
00:01:39
to jump into the wheel well of a plane
00:01:40
as real refugees to
00:01:43
escape uh and there's nothing wrong with
00:01:46
doing anything humanitarian to help but
00:01:48
that's not what the Biden Administration
00:01:50
is seeking to do here they've sent two
00:01:53
aircraft carriers to the region they're
00:01:54
turning up the
00:01:56
temperature they're taking us on a
00:01:58
trajectory towards a regional War and
00:02:01
the kind of war with Iran that Benjamin
00:02:03
Netanyahu has sought to embroil the US
00:02:06
in since he returned to the prime
00:02:09
minister's office um and we need to step
00:02:13
back from this situation in a less
00:02:17
emotional way step away from the
00:02:19
non-stop propaganda that's completely
00:02:22
one-sided and just look at some context
00:02:25
in history to understand how it got so
00:02:27
bad and so dangerous I have spent much
00:02:32
of my adult life trying to unpack the
00:02:34
situation of Israel Palestine coming at
00:02:36
it from the perspective of an American
00:02:38
Jew who was raised in Washington DC
00:02:43
around in an environment where I was
00:02:45
immersed in pro-israel propaganda I went
00:02:48
on a free trip to Israel called
00:02:50
Birthright Israel when I was younger
00:02:53
over well over 20 years ago and I
00:02:57
started to think more critically about
00:02:59
the situ ation as I saw what
00:03:02
Palestinians were living through and
00:03:03
wondered why it required so much
00:03:05
indoctrination to to maintain my support
00:03:09
for a country that I had I'd never been
00:03:12
to which was 5,000 miles away so I've
00:03:16
written two books about the situation
00:03:18
one Goliath came out in
00:03:20
2013 uh I spent five years living inside
00:03:23
Israel and in the occupied West Bank uh
00:03:26
five years off and on and then I went to
00:03:28
the Gaza Strip after
00:03:31
Israel had a military escalation with
00:03:34
the armed factions there not just Hamas
00:03:37
uh that left 551 women and children dead
00:03:39
and over a 100,000 homes destroyed
00:03:42
inside Gaza in 2014 and I went there uh
00:03:46
was in the rubble for days and days and
00:03:48
days and I chronicled the war which
00:03:51
lasted 51 days in a book called The 51
00:03:54
day war and then I um produced and
00:03:56
directed a documentary with another
00:03:59
American American Jew Dan Cohen about
00:04:03
what it was like being in the Gaza Strip
00:04:04
in the voices of the people there
00:04:06
including people who have taken up arms
00:04:08
and why they fight and it's called
00:04:09
killing Gaza and it's uh it's certainly
00:04:12
not a celebration of violent struggle
00:04:15
it's a lamentation uh for the situation
00:04:18
of these people who are totally ignored
00:04:19
by the world but I think you know we're
00:04:21
talking right now I'm talking a lot of
00:04:23
uh people from where I come from in the
00:04:27
from my political perspective they said
00:04:29
and talk to each other they're in an
00:04:31
echo chamber and I think a lot of um you
00:04:35
know people in the America first
00:04:38
movement uh they they do the same and I
00:04:41
think it's important um that we share
00:04:44
ideas and history now uh because we all
00:04:47
are living in a country together that
00:04:51
enjoys the geographical advantage being
00:04:55
far from the Middle East as well as far
00:04:57
from Ukraine and Russia but we are
00:04:59
simultan mously being dragged into three
00:05:02
potentially nuclear catastrophic
00:05:05
conflicts with Iran with Russia and with
00:05:08
China and I think we all agree that this
00:05:11
is dangerous in this situation it really
00:05:15
comes down to uh
00:05:18
Jerusalem holy sites but also the issue
00:05:20
of occupation and Siege which
00:05:23
Palestinians have lived under
00:05:24
continuously almost since
00:05:26
1948 so we need to understand what what
00:05:29
the god strip is why people have taken
00:05:31
up arms there um why they even are
00:05:34
displaying
00:05:36
ruthlessness and what Israel's real
00:05:38
objectives are here and so if possible
00:05:41
I'd like to just
00:05:43
begin with what I see as the the
00:05:46
original sin the Inception of this
00:05:48
conflict a lot of people say it's
00:05:49
biblical thousands of years ago but it's
00:05:51
not true Jews and Muslims have not
00:05:54
always been enemies uh and there are
00:05:56
many Palestinian Christians for example
00:05:58
in Bethlehem and Jerusalem who have been
00:06:01
forced to leave because of occupation
00:06:04
the Israeli separation wall has been
00:06:06
built through Bethlehem I know one
00:06:08
family that's completely surrounded by
00:06:10
that wall the Anastos family who are uh
00:06:13
directly descended from the
00:06:16
disciples um and they cannot go to
00:06:18
Jerusalem to observe Palm Sunday because
00:06:20
of that wall so it's not just Jews and
00:06:22
Muslims that are involved but Jews and
00:06:24
Muslims fought the Crusaders in
00:06:26
Jerusalem it wasn't originally a
00:06:28
religious conflict it's been turned into
00:06:30
a religious conflict because of the
00:06:33
desire to construct an exclusively
00:06:35
Jewish state in the heart of a territory
00:06:38
that had been stateless that had been in
00:06:40
the Ottoman Empire where primarily
00:06:42
Muslims and Christians had lived and so
00:06:44
you had a period from 1898 to
00:06:48
1948 of violent colonization sort of
00:06:52
similar to the United States where you
00:06:54
had people colonizing it who had nowhere
00:06:56
felt they had nowhere else to go they
00:06:57
didn't want to go back to Europe because
00:06:59
of anti-Semitism so they had to fight
00:07:00
for every
00:07:01
inch uh and this led to a lot of
00:07:04
hostility that culminated in
00:07:06
1948 with what Palestinians called a
00:07:09
nakba 700,000 750,000 Palestinians were
00:07:13
removed from their land in a during a
00:07:16
war four over 400 towns were depopulated
00:07:20
and many of them went to the Gaza Strip
00:07:22
so you have like you see right now
00:07:24
Rockets raining down on a town called
00:07:26
ashalon inside Israel they've taken the
00:07:29
Brun of it that used to be known as
00:07:30
majdal ascalon and it was a Palestinian
00:07:33
town and its residents were forced out
00:07:35
at gunpoint and pushed into what is now
00:07:37
the Gaza Strip so Egypt began
00:07:41
supporting uh the fedin the Guerilla
00:07:44
fighters in the Gaza Strip and is the
00:07:47
Israeli Army attacked it many times
00:07:49
during this period uh there was a huge
00:07:51
Massacre of unarmed men in 1956 in the
00:07:54
Gaza Strip and you could just you can
00:07:56
see the uh intensification of hostil
00:07:59
ility and violence building uh the Gaza
00:08:02
Strip was forly placed under occupation
00:08:05
by the Israeli military in 1967 in the
00:08:08
war that Israel initiated against Egypt
00:08:10
and
00:08:11
Syria and between 1967 and
00:08:15
2007
00:08:17
9,000 PE uh Jewish Israelis were placed
00:08:20
in settlements inside the Gaza Strip and
00:08:23
a territory of 1.5 million people one of
00:08:25
the most densely populated places on
00:08:27
Earth they took up something like 30% of
00:08:30
the water they were also targeted with
00:08:33
violent attacks to get them out um
00:08:36
Palestinians this is well before Hamas
00:08:39
Hamas did not exist and we'll talk about
00:08:41
I'll talk about Hamas next why how they
00:08:43
reformed why they exist what they want
00:08:46
um because of the um continuous pressure
00:08:50
on those settlers and then the violence
00:08:52
of the second
00:08:54
intifada uh which actually began with in
00:08:56
October 2000 with Israel according to it
00:08:59
own defense Ministry firing 1,000
00:09:01
bullets at Palestinian protesters and
00:09:03
then which led to the violence of the
00:09:05
suicide bombings which was horrific for
00:09:07
Israeli Society um the
00:09:10
Palestinian I'm sorry the Israeli
00:09:12
settlers from in the Gaza Strip those
00:09:14
small 9,000 of them were taken out and
00:09:19
then in 2007 Israel initiated a Siege of
00:09:22
the Gaza Strip uh it is completely
00:09:25
walled off it is controlled on all sides
00:09:27
from the air by drones I went out on a
00:09:29
fishing boat with a fisherman from Gaza
00:09:32
and we were stopped 3 kilometers from
00:09:34
the Shore by the Israeli Navy who
00:09:36
threatened to shoot his boat um and all
00:09:39
the good fish was beyond three
00:09:40
kilometers so they've been living under
00:09:42
siege Israel has um this is what
00:09:44
reported in Israeli media by the
00:09:47
newspaper harit uh enacted complex
00:09:49
mathematical formulas to calculate the
00:09:51
amount of calories each Gaza resident
00:09:53
should be entitled to each day because
00:09:56
they control everything that goes in and
00:09:58
out of this this tiny strip it is the
00:10:00
most
00:10:01
surveilled area on the planet Earth it's
00:10:04
filled with Israeli spies collaborators
00:10:07
and
00:10:08
anytime they seek to break out of their
00:10:12
cage and not just through violence they
00:10:16
face the Wrath of the Israeli military
00:10:19
so in
00:10:22
2019 people in the Gaza Strip initiated
00:10:24
what they called the Great March of
00:10:26
return where and when they say return
00:10:28
they say return to our lands where we
00:10:30
are from where our grandfathers lived uh
00:10:33
go to be able be able to go to Jerusalem
00:10:35
be able to leave this hopeless miserable
00:10:37
sit ghetto that we forced into they
00:10:40
decided to March without guns toward the
00:10:43
wall on the western flank of Gaza and
00:10:46
Tred to March into what is now Israel
00:10:49
some of the young men had rocks or
00:10:51
burning tires but there were no weapons
00:10:53
and over 200 people were killed
00:10:56
thousands were wounded Israel set up
00:10:58
snipers
00:10:59
above the wall and just shot anyone who
00:11:02
got close mainly shooting them in the
00:11:04
legs and you know having been in the
00:11:06
Gaza Strip I would just see young men
00:11:08
everywhere missing legs in wheelchairs
00:11:11
with uh crutches the desperation who
00:11:15
would want to do that and who would seek
00:11:17
to do that who would be willing to keep
00:11:19
walking at this wall knowing they were
00:11:21
being shot at and going to be shot it's
00:11:24
people who are totally desperate totally
00:11:26
hopeless there is a massive epidemic of
00:11:28
suici IDE in the Gaza Strip that no one
00:11:31
talks about children we're talking about
00:11:33
children as young as nine committing
00:11:35
suicide uh close to 40% of the
00:11:38
population is addicted to a painkilling
00:11:40
drug I think it's called Adavan that
00:11:42
they call the happy pill so they can
00:11:44
just turn off from this reality and we
00:11:46
can see how controlled they are by the
00:11:48
fact that Israel has turned off the
00:11:50
electricity the gas and the water but
00:11:52
when I was there electricity was already
00:11:54
rationed to just a few hours a day and
00:11:56
if you turn on the shower sea water and
00:11:59
sewage comes out so people in Gaza they
00:12:01
bathe with what they call Sweet Water
00:12:03
which is bottled water that they dump on
00:12:05
their bodies after they take the
00:12:07
brackish water so it's already The Siege
00:12:09
was already horrible they've seen uh I
00:12:13
would count five major military
00:12:15
escalation since the siege began and
00:12:17
when the W with the removal of the
00:12:18
settlers it allowed Israel freedom of
00:12:20
operation in Gaza to use missile strikes
00:12:23
you know 500 pound 2,000 pound bombs not
00:12:26
just you know sending soldiers in street
00:12:28
by Street
00:12:29
but they could um level an entire
00:12:32
neighborhood which is what they've done
00:12:34
this week leveled most of the capital of
00:12:36
Gaza City uh I can't
00:12:40
26 families have had multiple members
00:12:43
more than five members wiped out it's
00:12:45
just unbelievable but they're able to do
00:12:47
this because there are no Jewish Israeli
00:12:49
settlers in there as you see inside the
00:12:52
West Bank so they've had from 2007 to
00:12:55
the present um well more well more than
00:12:59
five military escalations and with each
00:13:03
one thousands and thousands are killed
00:13:07
inside the Gaza Strip and it would start
00:13:09
like in 200920 the first major
00:13:12
escalation we saw maybe only 10 Israelis
00:13:15
uh were killed the ability of the Armed
00:13:20
factions in Gaza to strike back was
00:13:22
pretty pretty pathetic um but each time
00:13:26
you see the Israeli casualties Rising as
00:13:28
especially of Israeli soldiers as the
00:13:31
armed factions in the Gaza Strip start
00:13:33
to improve their military capacity you
00:13:36
know there's no diplomatic path for them
00:13:39
they're not you see what is happening in
00:13:41
the West Bank where a Palestinian
00:13:43
Authority which is effectively disarmed
00:13:46
supported by the US state department
00:13:48
which coordinates security with Israel
00:13:50
is still presiding over an occupied
00:13:53
population that often can't leave and
00:13:56
suffers in its own way so
00:13:59
the this this much of the population in
00:14:02
Gaza supports the AR what they call the
00:14:05
armed struggle as the only path forward
00:14:07
because every other path out of this
00:14:09
Siege is broken and they see the
00:14:12
continuous advancement of these armed
00:14:14
factions they now have these rudimentary
00:14:16
drones which took out two Israeli tanks
00:14:19
in the current conflict they have their
00:14:22
own kind of rudimentary version of
00:14:23
Cavalry with motorcycle divisions they
00:14:27
have their own rudimentary crude Navy
00:14:29
with attack boats that are basically
00:14:31
converted fishing boats and diver teams
00:14:34
and much of their Arsenal is homemade
00:14:37
but those homemade uh Rockets can now
00:14:39
reach Tel Aviv so they're able to
00:14:42
they're they they've become more
00:14:44
confident and at the same time the
00:14:45
population has become more
00:14:47
hopeless uh the hopelessness also breeds
00:14:50
uh religious
00:14:51
fanaticism and they
00:14:54
attacked and what was the point of this
00:14:56
attack well it was spelled out by Hamas
00:14:59
poit Bureau chairman khed
00:15:00
Michelle uh he called it operation al-
00:15:04
AXA flood and it was first of all to uh
00:15:08
push back on the Jewish religious
00:15:12
nationalist incursions into the alaka
00:15:14
compound in Jerusalem which is the third
00:15:16
holiest site in Islam under Orthodox
00:15:18
Jewish law Jews are actually not allowed
00:15:21
to pray there except under special
00:15:23
circumstances but this is a sect within
00:15:25
Israeli Society that's not only
00:15:26
determined to invade that compound but
00:15:29
to replace it with a third Jewish temple
00:15:31
to Herald the coming of the Jewish
00:15:34
Messiah and this is seen as an affront
00:15:36
to the whole world of Islam so Hamas is
00:15:38
positioning it as the protector of Islam
00:15:42
by calling it operation alaka flood and
00:15:45
no one else is protecting that compound
00:15:47
no one else is able to do it so this is
00:15:50
a political play for them number one
00:15:52
number two the West has been trying to
00:15:55
normalize with Saudi Arabia and these
00:15:57
Gulf States and put the Palestinian
00:16:00
question in the ice box for history
00:16:02
which would leave them under occupation
00:16:04
and Siege so it's an effort to upend uh
00:16:07
those uh diplomatic PLO which ignore
00:16:10
Palestinians and will say they'll allow
00:16:12
Israel to say well we made peace with
00:16:14
the Arabs the Palestinians just didn't
00:16:15
want peace because Israel would have to
00:16:17
offer them real concessions on the
00:16:19
ground Israel doesn't lose anything from
00:16:21
making peace with Saudi Arabia they just
00:16:23
get some deals and get to tap into the
00:16:25
Sovereign wealth fund and then the third
00:16:28
thing that Hamas wanted to achieve with
00:16:30
this attack and also Hamas wasn't the
00:16:33
only group involved in it that needs to
00:16:35
be said was the release of thousands of
00:16:37
Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails
00:16:40
so remember in 2011 Israel gave up
00:16:44
1,27 Palestinian prisoners for one
00:16:46
Israeli soldier who had been captured
00:16:49
gilad Shalit so now they have probably
00:16:51
dozens of soldiers the attack was mainly
00:16:54
on military bases and what will Israel
00:16:57
have to give up for that the price is
00:16:59
staggering from Israel they don't even
00:17:01
know what to do and we saw uh some very
00:17:05
ruthless
00:17:06
displays uh attacks on civilians
00:17:09
killings of civilians for many of those
00:17:11
young men who are faceless nameless and
00:17:15
perceived as animals and terrorists in
00:17:17
the west um they saw those they they
00:17:22
don't see Israelis as anything but their
00:17:25
Killers their oppressors and they've
00:17:27
never met them because they've been
00:17:28
Under Siege if you meet an older person
00:17:30
in Gaza they actually speak Hebrew they
00:17:32
used to work inside Israel they know
00:17:34
Israelis these younger people the only
00:17:37
time they've ever seen a star of David
00:17:39
is on an Israeli attack craft so it it
00:17:43
they see them they've been dehumanized
00:17:45
and they have dehumanized Jewish
00:17:47
Israelis in turn and what they want is
00:17:50
not to kill Jews as Tony blinkin said or
00:17:54
Joe Biden said that's a way of erasing
00:17:56
the whole history and the psychology of
00:17:58
the conflict they want to avenge what
00:18:01
they call their Martyrs and many of
00:18:03
these young men have lost family members
00:18:06
seen them chewed up actually seen them
00:18:08
beheaded when the roofs get dropped on
00:18:10
their head by these air strikes and I've
00:18:12
interviewed them I interviewed and this
00:18:15
is in the film I made killing Gaza a
00:18:17
young man named Wasim shamali 15 he was
00:18:19
completely traumatized depressed
00:18:22
couldn't leave his house because his
00:18:23
brother was killed by Israeli sniper on
00:18:27
camera as he looked in the Rubble for
00:18:29
the body of his cousin and it's you can
00:18:32
see it I mean you can go look for the
00:18:33
killing of 19-year-old Salam shamali
00:18:36
it's out there it's on YouTube it's in
00:18:38
our documentary I would advise not
00:18:40
watching it but we asked this
00:18:42
15-year-old what do you want to do when
00:18:44
you grow up and he said I want to avenge
00:18:46
my brother I want to be a fighter so
00:18:48
that's the mentality and that's what
00:18:50
this that's what and and who's
00:18:52
supporting this conflict who's
00:18:53
supporting the status quo who's
00:18:56
preventing the end of this kind of of
00:18:58
cycle of Retribution and who's who's
00:19:01
supporting this power imbalance where
00:19:04
one side is able to control the
00:19:06
electricity the power and uh energy and
00:19:10
of the other side it's the United States
00:19:13
it's the unit so ultimately this is our
00:19:16
fault um where is this going
00:19:20
well it could it could turn into a
00:19:22
regional war with Hezbollah opening a
00:19:24
northern front Hezbollah is much
00:19:26
stronger than Hamas or the Palestinian
00:19:29
Islamic Jihad faction inside the Gaza
00:19:32
Strip that have homemade weapons they
00:19:33
have real weapons they can do targeted
00:19:35
strikes and let's say uh you know Israel
00:19:40
bom levels half of Beirut as it did in
00:19:42
2006 during its failed war against
00:19:44
Hezbollah let's say Israel Marches On
00:19:47
Gaza City um which would be a
00:19:49
slaughterhouse and Hezbollah would be
00:19:51
able to actually take parts of Northern
00:19:53
Israel that's possible they would be
00:19:55
possibly be able to hit Israel's defense
00:19:57
Ministry in Tel Aviv the US has two
00:19:58
aircraft carriers and Israel has a very
00:20:01
unstable political situation internally
00:20:04
with a prime minister who is always
00:20:06
sought to as I said embroil the US in a
00:20:09
war with Iran it could lead to a
00:20:13
regional war that could take us to Tron
00:20:17
and lead to many American deaths as well
00:20:21
so if you step back look at the history
00:20:24
from the perspective that we're not
00:20:25
getting from CNN then maybe we can start
00:20:28
to understand how crazy this whole
00:20:30
process has been uh but I and so I think
00:20:33
it's important to do that and I'm happy
00:20:35
to talk about um history of Hamas what
00:20:38
they are and what they want as well but
00:20:40
I think you know that that should uh
00:20:44
yeah I I watched your documentary I
00:20:46
appreciate you sending that I I did see
00:20:49
that uh that young man killed uh which
00:20:53
was hard to watch um but Ju Just let me
00:20:57
uh recap
00:20:58
uh in very simple just to make sure I'm
00:21:01
on the same page okay so there is
00:21:04
Decades of very bad blood between
00:21:07
Palestine and
00:21:09
Israel uh now there's this holy site
00:21:14
that they're wanting to protect while at
00:21:17
the same time avenge their family
00:21:20
members that they feel Israel has
00:21:23
wronged and to negotiate the end of this
00:21:27
Siege on the Gaza Strip where Israel
00:21:29
controls everything that goes in and out
00:21:32
and no one can leave including for for
00:21:34
for often for medical care it's
00:21:36
difficult to get out so this is they're
00:21:38
using violence as a form of establishing
00:21:41
leverage for negotiation and the only
00:21:43
way they've ever been able to get any
00:21:45
negotiations going because the world the
00:21:48
West recogn sees Hamas only as a
00:21:50
terrorist group and not as a political
00:21:52
faction with a very large popular base
00:21:56
is by getting captives and trading those
00:21:58
captives for concessions and so that's
00:22:00
what's happening here so that you you
00:22:02
believe that's why they're grabbing so
00:22:04
many hostages is because in their mind
00:22:07
they're thinking for every person I grab
00:22:09
we might get a thousand people out of
00:22:12
jail yes I mean Hamas has explicitly
00:22:15
asked for Israel to release all female
00:22:18
prisoners from its jails in exchange for
00:22:21
the female captives that it has so
00:22:23
that's what's taking place right now and
00:22:25
there are many countries negotiating
00:22:27
behind the scenes yes yeah I know Qatar
00:22:30
is involved and many others okay so then
00:22:33
just really quickly so now we we have
00:22:36
this horrible
00:22:37
tragedy um that that we've all been
00:22:39
covering in the news the United States
00:22:42
has moved two aircraft carriers into the
00:22:45
region uh there's worry that they're
00:22:48
going to provoke Iran who has Hezbollah
00:22:52
who is much much stronger more
00:22:55
calculated better Weaponry than Hamas
00:22:58
the United States just moved USS Ronald
00:23:02
Reagan to South Korea to put pressure on
00:23:06
Russia and North Korea so th this whole
00:23:09
thing is becoming a giant Powder Keg in
00:23:12
my opinion more dangerous than what
00:23:15
NATO's been telling us we're going to be
00:23:18
dragged into this Russia Ukraine war
00:23:20
this is like a very this is going this
00:23:24
is moving towards a hot War much much
00:23:26
faster than the Russia Ukraine situation
00:23:29
is that fair to say yeah and there's one
00:23:32
X Factor that you don't have in Russia
00:23:34
Ukraine which is especially dangerous in
00:23:36
this situation and in it's almost it's
00:23:41
it's well everyone acknowledges it but
00:23:43
it's forbidden to talk about it in some
00:23:45
ways where you'll get called an
00:23:47
anti-semite uh or I get called a
00:23:49
self-hating Jew but you have a very
00:23:51
powerful Israel Lobby in the United
00:23:53
States there isn't really a Ukraine
00:23:55
Lobby you have an Israel Lobby that in
00:23:58
many ways can influence Congress and
00:24:00
influence the president whether it's
00:24:02
democrat or republican to act solely in
00:24:05
Israel's interest without considering
00:24:07
the national interest of the United
00:24:09
States which is obviously different from
00:24:10
Israel doesn't matter how much you love
00:24:12
Israel the US has different national
00:24:14
interests and it is not in the National
00:24:16
interest of the US to attack Iran but we
00:24:19
saw Donald Trump fall under the sway of
00:24:21
the Israel Lobby I mean I thought if
00:24:24
he's very wealthy he'll be able to be
00:24:26
more independent and in some ways was
00:24:28
more independent than any other
00:24:30
president in recent years he would go
00:24:32
off script sometimes in very positive
00:24:34
ways uh in 2015 Donald Trump went off
00:24:38
script at a gathering of the Republican
00:24:40
Jewish Coalition which is a republican
00:24:42
Israel Lobby group and he said a lot of
00:24:44
you guys I mean you know Trump likes to
00:24:46
tell jokes and he said I'm a landlord a
00:24:48
lot of you guys are landlords and I I
00:24:50
want we like to make deals we're
00:24:51
dealmakers Why Can't We Make a Deal
00:24:53
between Israel and the Palestinians I
00:24:55
was like that's what the Trump that
00:24:57
that's very sensible he was called an
00:24:59
anti-semite for saying that he was
00:25:01
accused of uh stereotyping Jews as
00:25:04
landlords and Sheldon Adon comes in one
00:25:08
of the wealthiest men in America the
00:25:09
owner of Las Vegas Sands Casino who has
00:25:12
a relationship with Trump's son-in-law
00:25:15
Jared Kushner whose own family was so
00:25:17
connected to Israel this was reported in
00:25:19
the New York Times that when Benjamin
00:25:21
Netanyahu when he was Israel's
00:25:23
opposition leader would come to town in
00:25:25
New York he would stay with Jared's
00:25:27
father Father Charles and Jared would
00:25:29
actually have to get out of his bed and
00:25:31
stay in his parents' room and Netanyahu
00:25:33
would literally sleep in his bed so
00:25:36
Sheldon Adon comes in and becomes
00:25:38
Trump's the largest funer of Trump's
00:25:40
2016 campaign as well as his reelection
00:25:43
campaign through the Sheldon and Miriam
00:25:45
Adon Foundation his personal wealth
00:25:48
Trump didn't want to dip into his own
00:25:49
coffers I mean even if you're wealthy
00:25:51
you don't want to spend all your money
00:25:52
on campaign ads because then you'll lose
00:25:54
all your money so he defas it to adelon
00:25:56
and Adelson says all you have to do is
00:25:58
do a maximum pressure campaign on Iran
00:26:02
uh start working with Netanyahu it winds
00:26:04
up with the killing of kasum Solani the
00:26:06
second most powerful military figure
00:26:09
period in Iran who's the director of the
00:26:12
irgc which actually leads to injuries of
00:26:15
American troops who were transported to
00:26:17
Ramin Air Base from the al-asad base in
00:26:20
Iraq when Iran's ballistic missile
00:26:22
struck That Base they suffered hundreds
00:26:23
of traumatic head injuries this is all
00:26:26
because Trump was being manipulated into
00:26:30
a conflict for domestic political
00:26:32
reasons and because his son-in-law has a
00:26:34
passionate attachment to Israel imagine
00:26:37
if his son-in-law had been Palestinian I
00:26:39
mean Trump may never had never been
00:26:40
president or things would have been
00:26:42
completely different on the ground then
00:26:43
you have the clintons and the Obamas the
00:26:46
Democrats they have a Sheldon Adon in
00:26:48
their Camp his name is Heim Saban he is
00:26:51
the largest individual donor to Bill
00:26:54
Clinton Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama
00:26:57
and he he said I'm a single issue guy
00:26:59
and my issue is Israel he had his wife
00:27:03
uh Cheryl appointed as a un special
00:27:05
Ambassador by Obama because he just gave
00:27:07
him so much money and all he wants Obama
00:27:10
wanted Obama to do was ignore the
00:27:12
Palestinian calls for you know end to
00:27:15
occupation and do whatever Israel wanted
00:27:19
I was personally denounced by Hillary
00:27:21
Clinton's campaign through a statement
00:27:23
it drafted by Jake Sullivan who's now
00:27:25
the NC director for Biden because of my
00:27:29
views on Israel Palestine the views that
00:27:32
I'm expressing to you now um and my
00:27:34
father had been working sort of on the
00:27:37
fringes of Hillary Clinton's 2016
00:27:39
campaign so the Trump campaign took
00:27:41
advantage of that and tried to paint me
00:27:43
as Hillary's secret Middle East adviser
00:27:45
even though I met her like once when I
00:27:47
was a kid for two seconds had no
00:27:49
connection to her and himim Saban came
00:27:52
in and said you have to denounce this
00:27:54
guy get him out of here and immediately
00:27:57
a statement went out under Hillary
00:27:58
Clinton's name denouncing me someone who
00:28:01
had no connection to her was completely
00:28:03
insane so we have this powerful Lobby
00:28:06
you saw just saw Tony blinkin the
00:28:07
Secretary of State on uh National TV
00:28:11
he's in Israel right now he's
00:28:12
participating in their War cabinet
00:28:14
meetings he is a member of the Israel
00:28:17
lobby but he's supposed to be our Chief
00:28:19
Diplomat he's not putting he's not
00:28:21
putting America First here he's not able
00:28:24
to it's unclear what he's putting first
00:28:27
but his grandfather actually started a
00:28:29
think tank in the 1930s his name was
00:28:32
Maurice to lobby for the Zionist
00:28:35
movement in Palestine his father-in-law
00:28:38
who raised him since age nine Samuel
00:28:41
pisar was a major figure in the
00:28:43
French uh French Jewish world who was
00:28:48
very pro-israel and was kind of a
00:28:50
counselor to Francois midon but he was
00:28:53
also the conary to Robert Maxwell
00:28:58
Robert Maxwell being the father of gain
00:29:00
Maxwell Robert Maxwell being a mosad
00:29:02
agent who had a deao state burial in
00:29:06
Israel look up Samuel pisar if you're
00:29:09
watching this and Robert Maxwell Samuel
00:29:11
pisar is the man who raised Tony blinkin
00:29:14
and the last phone call that Robert
00:29:16
Maxwell made before he mysteriously fell
00:29:18
off his yacht was to Samuel pisar and so
00:29:22
Tony blinkin is supposed to preside over
00:29:24
a resolution to this conflict with all
00:29:27
these passionate attachments and
00:29:29
familial ties he said that he's
00:29:31
inherited his commitment to Israel's
00:29:35
strength and I think what we want in a
00:29:37
diplomat is someone who looks at all
00:29:39
sides balances all sides and tries to
00:29:41
come to a peaceful resolution but what
00:29:43
you have here someone who T seems to
00:29:44
take everything personally he's also
00:29:46
said I have family from Ukraine that's
00:29:48
why I support Ukraine and we'll I'll
00:29:51
talk more about that when we get on that
00:29:53
issue but this is the opposite of
00:29:55
diplomacy this is so dangerous right now
00:29:57
and so we have all of the ingredients
00:30:00
for World War II because we're not
00:30:04
thinking rationally we're not looking at
00:30:06
history and we refuse to look at BO the
00:30:08
the the the the needs of both sides
00:30:11
we're just hearing these crazy uh
00:30:14
denunciations hamas's Isis hamas's
00:30:16
Al-Qaeda this is another 911 well where
00:30:18
did 911 lead us Stephen led us into Iraq
00:30:21
in Afghanistan and we never escaped it's
00:30:24
it's it possibly permanently doomed our
00:30:27
Constitution so why are they saying that
00:30:30
again a a n trillion doll War over two
00:30:34
decades do you do you think this is why
00:30:37
zalinski is so concerned that funds are
00:30:41
going to dry up and support because he
00:30:43
knows given Israel and Ukraine Israel
00:30:47
will win hands down when it comes to the
00:30:49
attention game it is I mean look at
00:30:52
what's happening right now ABC News just
00:30:54
did a one-hour special Israel under
00:30:56
Terror like I never even saw that for
00:30:59
Ukraine um and so zalinski is demanding
00:31:03
that he be able to go visit Israel
00:31:06
because he wants to get in the spotlight
00:31:07
again with his little gii Joe suit and
00:31:10
remind people that he's there and then
00:31:12
you have just the cold hard material
00:31:14
reality of US military production
00:31:17
capacity being very below par not up to
00:31:19
where Russia's is who gets the Munitions
00:31:22
who gets the howitzers Lloyd Austin just
00:31:24
redirected them all to Israel to be able
00:31:27
to blanket these refugee camps in Gaza
00:31:31
with Howitzer shells yeah um let let me
00:31:36
throw out a couple of crazy things that
00:31:37
I've heard over the last couple of days
00:31:39
and get your feedback on
00:31:41
them uh zalinski is saying that uh
00:31:45
Ukrainian Intel is saying that Vladimir
00:31:49
Putin is
00:31:50
behind this hot War opportunity in the
00:31:54
Middle East that he helped Iran
00:31:57
Iran helped Hamas Hamas is helping
00:32:01
Palestine do you think there's any truth
00:32:03
to
00:32:05
that uh Vladimir Putin has always tried
00:32:09
to maintain a very close alliance with
00:32:11
Israel there are close to 1.5 million
00:32:14
Russian Jews inside Israel who are in
00:32:18
many ways very pro-russian and protin I
00:32:21
mean they're divided like any other
00:32:23
Russian diaspora but they had Pro
00:32:25
operation Z rallies in inside Israel and
00:32:29
Putin sees Israel kind of along with
00:32:31
Syria and other countries just looking
00:32:34
at it from a very uh realist point of
00:32:37
view as a strategic not a strategic bull
00:32:42
workk but a he sees the Russian
00:32:44
population in Israel as an important
00:32:47
soft power base for himself so he would
00:32:50
not like to completely waste his
00:32:52
relationship with Israel especially
00:32:54
given that that provides him with a back
00:32:56
channel to the US
00:32:57
us there I mean there are there are many
00:33:00
Russian legislators in the Israeli
00:33:02
knesset who Putin or his people can be
00:33:05
in touch
00:33:06
with uh at the same time he has not uh
00:33:09
Israel has not wanted to arm Ukraine
00:33:12
because they don't want to upset their
00:33:14
own Russian population they've tried to
00:33:16
stay neutral and zilinsky has been
00:33:18
outraged at Israel so it's much more
00:33:21
complicated Putin in Syria has sought to
00:33:27
to give Israel freedom of
00:33:31
operation in order to avoid having a
00:33:35
regional conflict and this has angered
00:33:37
Hezbollah he actually coordinates with
00:33:40
Israel inside Syria and has tried to
00:33:43
reduce some of the attacks on Syrian
00:33:46
infrastructure as well as the Russian
00:33:48
troops that are still have have been
00:33:50
operating there so Hezbollah and Iran
00:33:52
actually have been angry at Putin for
00:33:54
not letting them uh for for not stopping
00:33:57
the Israeli attacks on Syria Syria by
00:33:58
the way attacked the Damascus
00:34:00
International Airport today so this idea
00:34:03
that Putin had something to do with this
00:34:05
is a fantasy of the blue andon cult
00:34:09
within the extreme wing of the
00:34:12
democratic party it's sort of an echo of
00:34:14
the Russia gate hysteria and it's an
00:34:17
effort to balinski to try to draw drag
00:34:21
the world back in to the his conflict
00:34:25
with Russia and draw attention to him
00:34:27
self as we begin to forget about him
00:34:29
this this reminds me of a meme maybe
00:34:32
you've seen it on Facebook or the
00:34:34
internet but there's like five Spiderman
00:34:36
and they're all pointing at each other
00:34:38
like they're gonna all kill each other
00:34:40
at the same time so uh the United States
00:34:44
is supporting Israel Israel was sending
00:34:48
Munitions to zalinski only because the
00:34:51
United States uh requested it but they
00:34:54
don't want to upset Vladimir Putin
00:34:57
because of their Russian base Iran is
00:35:00
giving stuff to uh Russia but Russia
00:35:03
doesn't want to betray Israel it's like
00:35:07
it's it's a whole hotbed mess of of
00:35:11
War we can see where it's we can see
00:35:14
where it's pushing things like you have
00:35:16
the five Spider-Man are eventually going
00:35:18
to resolve this and they're going to
00:35:19
stand on opposite sides and I mean when
00:35:22
you see zalinski casting in his lot with
00:35:25
Israel and Israel basically being a
00:35:28
client state of the US which mutually
00:35:31
manipulates American politics they're on
00:35:34
one side with Taiwan which is going to
00:35:36
be the US Bull workk against China and
00:35:39
South Korea which is the US Bull workk
00:35:41
against North Korea and China they're on
00:35:43
one side and then the independent states
00:35:46
that that have traditionally been weaker
00:35:49
in the US unipolar World and which are
00:35:53
trying to create a multi-polar reality
00:35:56
where there's more
00:35:57
that kind of democratic world order
00:36:00
they're going to be on the other side
00:36:01
for now Russia and China I mean they've
00:36:04
historic they they were bitter enemies
00:36:06
that Nixon played on this uh the sinos
00:36:09
Soviet split in order to normalize with
00:36:12
China and that was contingent on Mao and
00:36:17
subsequent leadership being hostile to
00:36:19
the Soviet Union that was the kissing
00:36:21
Jerian position was always to split the
00:36:23
Soviet Union and China because once they
00:36:25
get together you have the Eurasian land
00:36:27
mass hostile to the US with all of its
00:36:30
mineral wealth and um the industrial
00:36:33
base of China that's a disaster for the
00:36:35
US well since the end of the Cold War U
00:36:39
the US has put so much pressure on both
00:36:42
of those countries particularly Russia
00:36:44
that they have come together and Putin
00:36:48
and xiin ping have a very close Alliance
00:36:52
right now with sanctions applied to
00:36:54
Russia Russia is turning East uh is
00:36:57
turning to China for so many products
00:36:59
that are filling up in R filling up
00:37:01
Russian supermarkets raw parts for
00:37:03
Russia and this is unobvious
00:37:07
from a US geopolitical point of view and
00:37:11
from the the point of view just
00:37:13
traditional Imperial Point of View as
00:37:14
spelled out by the British um geographer
00:37:18
Harold
00:37:19
mackinder who saw the EUR Asian World
00:37:22
Island as the most important place to
00:37:25
divide and dominate it is disastrous
00:37:28
from that
00:37:29
perspective and so this is I think this
00:37:32
what we're seeing right now Israel
00:37:34
Palestine is accelerating that
00:37:37
Trend I don't I don't know if you saw
00:37:39
this but joy bear from The View told her
00:37:43
audience of millions and millions of
00:37:45
people that she believes Donald Trump is
00:37:48
behind the attacks on Israel she said
00:37:51
Trump uh in 2018 had a very bizarre and
00:37:55
undocumented Ed encounter in Helsinki
00:37:59
with Vladimir Putin while President she
00:38:02
believes that Trump told Putin How Hamas
00:38:05
could attack Israel on their holiday
00:38:09
five years
00:38:11
later is this just Trump derangement
00:38:13
syndrome or trying to link Trump to a
00:38:17
modern-day atrocity or is there any
00:38:19
truth to this
00:38:20
accusation what's funny how many people
00:38:22
have lost their YouTube channels and
00:38:25
Twitter accounts for disin information
00:38:27
and then this lady can say whatever she
00:38:29
wants on daytime TV that people watching
00:38:31
hair salons Across America uh it's it's
00:38:35
it's it's not only baseless it's
00:38:37
extremely dangerous rhetoric and it's
00:38:40
deliberately dumbing Americans down and
00:38:43
it's designed to De democratize us and
00:38:45
make us all into partisan idiots uh
00:38:48
there's there's nothing to it I mean I
00:38:49
remember CNN published an article after
00:38:53
Trump's Summit with Putin that when
00:38:55
Putin handed him a soccer ball contained
00:38:58
sophisticated surveillance monitoring
00:39:00
devices so they could listen into Trump
00:39:02
I mean that's the kind of idiocy we're
00:39:04
seeing in
00:39:05
CNN and it's all designed to take us to
00:39:08
one place which is hostility with
00:39:11
foreign countries powerful foreign
00:39:13
countries with nuclear arsenals and that
00:39:16
all joy bear and her audience care about
00:39:18
is stopping Trump they don't care about
00:39:20
the bigger picture in the world they see
00:39:23
Trump as the most evil diabolical figure
00:39:25
ever so they'll say anything thing they
00:39:26
want and Trump is Russia so they hate
00:39:29
Russia they don't care what it is know
00:39:31
what it is like here here's Putin and
00:39:33
then way up above him and evil is uh
00:39:37
Donald Trump yeah I mean and so what
00:39:40
what was that Summit really about in
00:39:41
Helsinki it was about missile treaties
00:39:44
something we should have all supported
00:39:46
yeah I I had heard that uh or I had read
00:39:48
sorry that uh he that soccer ball had uh
00:39:52
like a USB flash drive uh sewn in into
00:39:56
it that would give all the dirt on Joe
00:39:59
Biden to win the election like this
00:40:01
absolute crazy but she she gets to
00:40:04
project this this lie to millions and
00:40:07
millions of Americans where they go oh
00:40:09
gosh yeah maybe maybe he did give Putin
00:40:13
the the blueprint on how to attack
00:40:15
Israel five years in the future it it's
00:40:17
it's insane uh speaking of insane uh let
00:40:21
let's go over one more thing and then
00:40:22
I'll get you out on this but um what
00:40:25
what were your thoughts thoughts when
00:40:27
you saw Canadian Parliament uh give two
00:40:31
standing ovations to someone they later
00:40:34
found out was a a a Nazi who fought
00:40:40
against Russia you know so in their
00:40:43
minds they're like oh this guy fought
00:40:44
Russia Russia's bad in the news right
00:40:47
now but they've forgotten that Russia
00:40:49
lost 20 million people killing Hitler uh
00:40:53
what what were your thoughts on that
00:40:55
event yeah I mean obviously it was
00:40:57
outrageous for me and my family got out
00:41:01
of Ukraine before the
00:41:05
Holocaust um and actually before the
00:41:07
pograms that preceded the Holocaust that
00:41:09
were carried out by a figure named Simon
00:41:11
pet petora who is today honored in
00:41:14
Ukraine with um streets and memorials
00:41:16
named after him but here you have uh
00:41:18
yaroslav hunka who is a veteran of the
00:41:21
Waffen SS Galia division being honored
00:41:24
in Canadian Parliament and as soon as
00:41:25
the speaker Anthony Rota who represents
00:41:28
the district that hunka is from declared
00:41:31
that he fought Russia in World War II
00:41:33
was like as soon as he said that I knew
00:41:34
the guy was a Nazi but everybody stood
00:41:37
and cheered which shows the historical
00:41:40
ignorance of the entire Canadian
00:41:42
Parliament including the head of
00:41:44
Canada's military Wayne ire stood and
00:41:47
cheered for a
00:41:48
Nazi Canada fought sent many soldiers to
00:41:51
fight and die against Nazi
00:41:54
Germany so a lot of people were kind of
00:41:57
mystified how could this possibly be and
00:42:00
they tried to
00:42:02
compartmentalize well it was a mistake
00:42:04
and has nothing to do with contemporary
00:42:06
Ukraine or our support for real
00:42:08
neo-nazis there like the AZ of Battalion
00:42:10
which just a week before this ceremony
00:42:12
had published photos of its soldiers
00:42:14
paying tribute by reenacting photographs
00:42:18
of the Waffen SS Galia in the field
00:42:20
reenacting them in the donbass so there
00:42:25
are we supporting neo-nazis today Canada
00:42:28
has supported Neo has supported Nazis
00:42:31
traditionally the one of the people who
00:42:34
is cheering most
00:42:35
loudly for yaroslav hunka you could just
00:42:39
see her like clapping like a seal
00:42:41
waiting for someone to throw her Chum at
00:42:43
SeaWorld was Christia Freeland who is
00:42:45
the second most powerful political
00:42:46
figure in the liberal government of
00:42:48
Canada her grandfather was one of
00:42:51
Hitler's top propagandists in occupied
00:42:54
Poland one of Hitler's top Ukrainian
00:42:57
propagandist his name was Michael chamak
00:42:59
he lived in two apartments that had been
00:43:01
seized from uh Jews he wrote about
00:43:04
stealing the furniture of a guy named
00:43:07
that he called Dr finlin Who had
00:43:09
apparently been sent to the
00:43:10
concentration camps and then he came to
00:43:14
Canada with a wave of ss veterans and
00:43:17
Nazi
00:43:19
supporters uh that where where it was
00:43:23
said um in a 60 minutes report that was
00:43:27
aired I think in
00:43:28
1994 that all you had to do is show the
00:43:31
SS tattoo on your arm to get into Canada
00:43:34
after the war uh escorting him along
00:43:38
this kind of rat line was a guy named
00:43:40
Vladimir kubovich Vladimir kovich who
00:43:43
was his boss in occupied Poland and
00:43:46
worked directly under Ernst gner the
00:43:50
governor Hitler appointed to control the
00:43:53
Galia region of Poland and ovich created
00:43:57
the waffin SS
00:43:59
Galia he worked I mean you know you can
00:44:01
draw a direct line between these guys
00:44:04
and Hitler and kovich help helped set up
00:44:08
the Ukrainian Canadian Congress which is
00:44:10
the main lobbying front for the
00:44:15
Ukrainian diaspora in Canada which is
00:44:18
raising money for the war effort they've
00:44:20
supported five Waffen SS Galia memorials
00:44:23
across Canada there's one in Edmonton
00:44:25
that's just sitting there someone spray
00:44:28
painted Nazi Memorial on it uh two years
00:44:32
ago and they were uh accused of a hate
00:44:35
crime or Canada announced this is a hate
00:44:37
crime until they were forced to
00:44:39
acknowledge it was a Nazi
00:44:41
Memorial and Vladimir kovich who worked
00:44:45
directly under Hitler and then went to
00:44:47
Canada in addition to setting up the
00:44:49
uccc established a special Institute at
00:44:53
the University of Alberta uh raising
00:44:55
half aill million doll ultimately $2
00:44:57
million was plowed into it the UN The
00:45:00
Institute of Ukrainian and Russian
00:45:02
studies that gave Christa Freeland her
00:45:04
first job and helped her get into
00:45:07
journalism she worked for Ukrainian news
00:45:11
sorry Ukrainian weekly which was a
00:45:13
publication that her grandfather Michael
00:45:16
chamak actually once
00:45:18
edited and then it was through
00:45:21
journalism uh which she often would use
00:45:24
as kind of cover for organiz ing for
00:45:26
regime change in UK in Soviet controlled
00:45:29
Ukraine where she worked that she Rose
00:45:31
it found a platform for her political
00:45:33
career so the point is yaroslav hunka
00:45:37
was not isolated at all you have the
00:45:39
Deputy Prime Minister cheering for him
00:45:42
whose own family were Nazis when this
00:45:45
was all exposed about her it was 2017 in
00:45:49
2017 when Freeland was appointed foreign
00:45:51
Min foreign secretary all of this came
00:45:54
out and she initially just lied about it
00:45:56
and said no I had no connection to any
00:45:59
Nazi my grandfather was just a nice guy
00:46:02
and that lie was exposed but there were
00:46:04
no consequences now they're facing the
00:46:07
consequences and we're and the and
00:46:10
everyone who watched is forced to
00:46:12
acknowledge that this is still happening
00:46:14
with us support for the azov Battalion
00:46:17
the Neo-Nazi azov Battalion in Ukraine
00:46:19
that is showing up with us weapons in
00:46:21
the field
00:46:23
yeah well I I never thought I would
00:46:26
covering this stuff right like I I
00:46:28
didn't want to believe that there were
00:46:30
Nazis in
00:46:31
Ukraine um until the evidence was so
00:46:34
strong that I just I I could not ignore
00:46:36
it anymore well uh I I appreciate you
00:46:40
coming on and and helping people
00:46:42
understand like the back history of
00:46:45
Palestine and and all that they are are
00:46:48
still living through and going through
00:46:50
the Israeli situation the potential
00:46:53
escalation with the United States and
00:46:56
Hezbollah and Iran it it's it's crazy
00:46:59
that uh we're in this situation again
00:47:02
but I I appreciate you coming on and and
00:47:05
giving clarification if people want to
00:47:08
follow you or or learn more what's the
00:47:10
best way to do that Max well we're at
