Track 2 from his fourth solo album “Back in the High Life” released in 1986 copyright Island Records. It was recorded mostly in New York at Unique Recording Studios, The Power Station, Right Track Studios and Giant Sound as well as at his home studio Netherturkdonic Studios in Gloucestershire, England. Unlike his previous two albums, on which he played all the instruments and sang all the vocals, numerous session musicians and special guests were featured on this release. The song “Split Decision” was co-written with Joe Walsh of the Eagles. The album received mostly excellent reviews and won three Grammy Awards including Record of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Performance–Male for “Higher Love” and Best Engineered Non-Classical Album. “Higher Love” became his first song to reach No. 1 on the Billboard chart. The album was successful worldwide and reached No. 8 in the U.K, No. 6 in Canada and No. 3 on the Billboard chart.
