00:00:00
everybody Robert with our CR tree in
00:00:02
this Tuesday's tip of the week video I'm
00:00:03
gonna be giving you a rundown of my
00:00:05
equipment my bow my arrows the release
00:00:07
that I'm using some of the extra
00:00:11
accessories that I have sitting around
00:00:12
that I use on a day to day basis and
00:00:14
just kind of give you a glimpse into why
00:00:16
I'm using what I do and the brands and
00:00:18
the setup that I have now I want to say
00:00:21
starting out that I hope everybody
00:00:23
that's watching this as well and safe
00:00:25
and everyone's okay in this crazy time
00:00:29
that we have going on in the world right
00:00:30
now so I want to try to get this video
00:00:31
done thank you for everybody that voted
00:00:33
on my Instagram channel to make this the
00:00:35
first video that I'm putting out I'm
00:00:37
gonna try to get some more coming out
00:00:39
pretty soon as well and just have a
00:00:40
little bit more content while we're all
00:00:42
stuck at home or a home a lot more than
00:00:46
normal right now with all the craziness
00:00:47
so again I hope everybody is well when
00:00:50
you're watching this and I wish everyone
00:00:52
the best as well so there's a video
00:00:54
that's gonna be about both setup and
00:00:56
everything that I actually saw today I'm
00:00:58
filming this on a Saturday it was by
00:01:00
Chris B so if you haven't checked out
00:01:01
his YouTube channel be real look at it a
00:01:04
lot of you probably have it's an
00:01:06
incredibly popular channel but he has a
00:01:07
really cool rundown of his equipment and
00:01:09
his setup too so I'm gonna give a shout
00:01:10
out to that since this video is very
00:01:11
similar and coming out around the same
00:01:14
time as his so let's get into it area so
00:01:25
we might as well start it out with the
00:01:26
bigger parts what I'm using this is a
00:01:29
PSE focus this is not the Excel version
00:01:33
this is the standard axle axle version I
00:01:36
guess if you want to look at it that way
00:01:37
for me I think with the size of the cams
00:01:41
on this Bo and the axle that axle that
00:01:43
it was said it actually fits me for a
00:01:45
string angled really well I like this
00:01:47
one a lot that being said I haven't
00:01:49
actually tried the Excel version sure
00:01:51
it's an awesome bow too but I've had
00:01:53
some longer axial axial bows in that
00:01:55
range before in the past and well I can
00:01:58
still be incredibly comfortable with
00:01:59
them I don't know that it fits me as
00:02:01
well have a longer nose so the angle
00:02:03
that I like is a little bit steeper it
00:02:04
seems to fit me and work better for just
00:02:06
personal feel and what I'm doing with it
00:02:09
along with this bow a couple things that
00:02:11
I'll point out really quickly I
00:02:13
we have this little grip pad here on the
00:02:16
end of it this is boo dad's it's it's
00:02:19
for pistol grips but it's he sent me out
00:02:22
a sheet of it that I purchased and I
00:02:24
just cut it off measured it and put it
00:02:25
on there so when I was shooting my last
00:02:28
indoor event for the season my hands
00:02:31
towards the end of the round it was an
00:02:32
incredibly good round happening for me
00:02:34
and I got a little bit nervous towards
00:02:36
the end of my hands started to sweat
00:02:37
pretty well and I actually had my hand I
00:02:40
use a low grip so my hand has a tendency
00:02:43
to want to slide up some if I'm not
00:02:44
careful but I actually had it slide up
00:02:46
as I was shooting my hand my finger got
00:02:49
up here without a closed riser like I've
00:02:51
had on my PSC's in the past and some
00:02:53
other bows my finger actually ended up
00:02:56
hitting the vein of an arrow and did
00:02:58
that twice and I don't know if it's a
00:03:02
testament to the equipment that I have
00:03:04
in the way that my arrows are set up or
00:03:06
just dumb luck but I still ended up
00:03:09
hitting the X on the target so I got
00:03:10
lucky on it but after that I decided I'm
00:03:12
going to put something back here
00:03:14
I don't like grip wrap I've used that in
00:03:16
the past like the hockey tape or the
00:03:17
tennis racket tape that wraps around it
00:03:20
adds thickness to the grip don't really
00:03:21
like how it feels this is super thin I
00:03:24
don't notice any change and like
00:03:26
perceived Rawling feel or anything with
00:03:27
it that way so I'm gonna be testing this
00:03:29
out see how it goes
00:03:31
a lot of different other versions and
00:03:34
things you can use but I use this it's
00:03:36
kind of a rubber material and it's not
00:03:38
really abrasive on my hand so I seem to
00:03:40
like that more air arrest hemp ski
00:03:43
arrest this is the micro adjust version
00:03:46
of it it's a target pro model I've got
00:03:49
the engraving there with our CRT I
00:03:51
thought that was kind of cool and a neat
00:03:52
little touch to it but I use this as a
00:03:56
limb driven drop away system just use
00:03:59
one of their standard clamps here that
00:04:01
you can put on there attaches to the
00:04:03
limb personally I don't like the cable
00:04:08
driven systems because one you can you
00:04:11
know anytime you change any of your
00:04:12
adjustments or anything that you're
00:04:13
doing in your bow you got to readjust
00:04:15
how you're doing on the the drop light
00:04:16
portion but also I could always feel it
00:04:19
when I was drawing the bow back because
00:04:20
it was kind of tugging and pulling on
00:04:22
the cams and I don't know just peace of
00:04:24
mind I like it better on the limbs I
00:04:25
don't seem to have any
00:04:26
shoot with it I'm using their Teflon
00:04:30
launcher blade here
00:04:32
it's a taper launch launcher I don't
00:04:35
know if it'll show up on video there
00:04:37
seems to work really well I didn't use a
00:04:40
backer plate on the metal version that I
00:04:42
had on here that comes standard with
00:04:43
them and this just seems to fit any of
00:04:46
my arrows my 26 is 23 is indoor/outdoor
00:04:49
I'm not having to really worry about it
00:04:51
or mess with the extra tuning or
00:04:52
anything this was asked about a couple
00:04:54
times on a post this little arrow catch
00:04:56
here this actually comes with the arrow
00:04:58
rest from ham ski and I use that on
00:05:01
there because when I'm loading an arrow
00:05:02
on there it helps me be able to keep
00:05:05
everything intact without it wanting to
00:05:07
fall or slide around or anything as I'm
00:05:09
going to draw back so it seems to work
00:05:11
really well of course the site XL a
00:05:14
chief sight this is the carbon rod it's
00:05:17
a six inch rod I don't like the really
00:05:21
long sight bars I'm not gonna hang it
00:05:23
out there do anything crazy with it
00:05:24
actually run it in a little bit closer
00:05:25
from straight out from where I torque
00:05:27
tuned it and you'll notice that there's
00:05:30
a zebras light kit on here it's
00:05:32
evolution I love the light kit wouldn't
00:05:36
wouldn't run it any other way
00:05:38
I can use this indoors outdoors dark at
00:05:41
night middle of the day I can get
00:05:43
consistent sizing on my pin on the
00:05:46
perceived size of it because I can
00:05:47
change and adjust the lighting so I
00:05:49
always have a really good consistent
00:05:50
sight picture that way and I love that
00:05:52
you can change the colors on it I use a
00:05:54
clear fiber and you can run it through
00:05:56
with blue red or green and I've just
00:05:59
personally liked the blue that seems to
00:06:00
work best for me but that runs into a
00:06:04
shrewd scope this is the mini mag is
00:06:07
what I used for my indoor setup outdoor
00:06:09
setup it works for 3d it's a little
00:06:12
small probably would need a bigger setup
00:06:16
for 3d but you can kind of see just the
00:06:18
way that the light and everything runs
00:06:21
through it with their kid and it just
00:06:22
runs into the top I have it here on the
00:06:25
bottom for the light to run through I
00:06:27
use a blocker so if you see this here to
00:06:30
kind of a vision blocker I'd 3d printed
00:06:32
one out made it for the size of the
00:06:34
scope that I was using it just seems to
00:06:36
help me with the lens my left I wanted
00:06:38
to kind of take over
00:06:39
or and I never really could get a
00:06:41
consistent feel on what I was looking at
00:06:43
so that blocker eliminates that it
00:06:45
allows me to have both eyes I can be a
00:06:47
little bit more comfortable lens wise
00:06:49
I'm using a feather vision for X lens
00:06:52
not a huge lens never used one in the
00:06:55
past until recently I like it you will
00:06:58
see a little bit more perceived motion
00:06:59
when you go to a lens so keep that in
00:07:01
mind don't do anything really crazy if
00:07:03
you've never used one don't put in a 6
00:07:04
or 8 X lens and go it's gonna be a shock
00:07:08
to your brain what you see so just you
00:07:11
know as a heads up on that bars these
00:07:15
are the conquests back down bars they're
00:07:19
the 625 s I personally like these 625 s
00:07:24
a lot they're thin enough that if I want
00:07:26
to use them outdoors I don't notice any
00:07:28
kind of weirdness with the wind but
00:07:30
they're not so small that they have a
00:07:31
lot of residual vibrations so they seem
00:07:33
to dampen everything pretty well I do
00:07:36
run a decent amount of weight these
00:07:38
larger stack weights here that you can
00:07:39
get from conquest this is 8 ounces
00:07:41
I believe this one in the front is 1
00:07:44
ounce maybe 2 so I'm running 9 10 ounces
00:07:46
on the front of a 30-inch bar quick
00:07:49
disconnect 10 degree down back rod is a
00:07:52
15 inch bar I've got 12 ounces on the
00:07:56
back of it and just run it to angled it
00:08:00
held best for me just experiment and run
00:08:03
around with that but that's generally my
00:08:07
setup that I've used now for the last
00:08:09
year or a little bit over depending on
00:08:11
some of the products it's bulletproof it
00:08:14
works really well I'm not having to mess
00:08:16
with it a lot or change anything or do
00:08:18
anything use the finger sling a lot of
00:08:21
people ask me about this this was made
00:08:23
by Aaron Smith you can find him on
00:08:25
Facebook or you can contact me I can get
00:08:27
some of these made for you if you want
00:08:29
them but I like them a lot of different
00:08:31
colors a lot of different things I've
00:08:32
got several of them specialty Pete this
00:08:35
is just their standard one it's the
00:08:37
light version I think it's got a point 5
00:08:40
clarifier in it seems to work really
00:08:42
well but I like these because I can
00:08:44
adjust the aperture size find out what
00:08:45
size that I need and then just go and
00:08:47
buy the verifier so I don't have to buy
00:08:49
several of them to see what size that I
00:08:51
need on
00:08:52
all right next up let's look at my
00:08:55
quiver what I've got in it what I'm
00:08:57
using all that good stuff so this is
00:09:00
actually an angel quiver they're made in
00:09:02
China this was pre way before the
00:09:06
coronavirus this is the quiver portion
00:09:09
here's almost 10 years old probably the
00:09:12
belts probably five or so years it's
00:09:14
pretty cool got the original one had my
00:09:17
my name in it this one I just did the RC
00:09:19
archery one on it kind of like that it's
00:09:22
got a pocket here where I can put allen
00:09:24
keys and some different things in there
00:09:25
not tools I use a clicker you can buy
00:09:29
these you can go to a sports store and
00:09:33
buy them they use them like umpires can
00:09:35
use them coaches use them for pitch
00:09:36
counts a lot of different uses form but
00:09:39
I use it I like keep count of my arrows
00:09:41
and I'm shooting because I can kind of
00:09:44
track how I'm doing so if I know I need
00:09:46
to peak at a certain time or something
00:09:48
that if I shoot between thirty forty
00:09:50
arrows the day before something I shoot
00:09:52
really well so I use it for that
00:09:54
sometimes I just use it kind of train
00:09:56
and go through what I'm shooting what
00:09:58
I'm looking at arrow polar standard
00:10:02
regular arrow polar grabbed it off of
00:10:04
Lancaster archery got a little quick
00:10:08
disconnect piece there keep a pin never
00:10:12
know when you need to write on targets
00:10:13
keep your score all that fun stuff
00:10:16
arrow eyes I'm using black eagled PS 26
00:10:20
s on my indoor setup I've got a four
00:10:22
Fletch setup here it's a a Emacs stealth
00:10:24
anes I use a left degree or a left three
00:10:29
degree helical on them with that drop
00:10:30
way I get a little bit more on there and
00:10:32
that seems to work really well
00:10:33
bihter not it's a 19-2 hunt or not works
00:10:37
really well love these no not pinched
00:10:41
seems to have really good consistent fit
00:10:43
and the tolerance is when they're made
00:10:45
are really good too I actually noticed
00:10:47
my ex count average going up a little
00:10:49
bit not a lot but a little bit when I
00:10:51
went to these it's just more consistency
00:10:52
over time we seem to handle more arrows
00:10:55
being shot or the knot rather seems to
00:10:58
be handled being shot more than some of
00:11:00
the others that I've used in the past
00:11:01
before I have to change them these are
00:11:04
believed 27 and a quarter carbon to
00:11:06
carbon the way that I have them cut
00:11:08
right now with two hundred grains
00:11:09
upfront their top hat points and I have
00:11:11
the brass screw in inserts on the inside
00:11:16
of these that I put in there and I just
00:11:17
glued those in whenever I find the one
00:11:19
that I like and I just use hot melt or
00:11:22
cold another I don't believe actually I
00:11:24
think it's cold melt that I just put in
00:11:25
there and same thing that I glue the
00:11:27
points in so I'll just kind of sticks in
00:11:28
there together range finder loophole so
00:11:34
arts 1200 it's got adjustment for slants
00:11:39
and stuff like that if you need that I
00:11:41
got it for 3d outdoors comes in handy sometimes
00:11:45
preferred release true ball fulcrum flex
00:11:48
this is a two-finger version with my
00:11:51
attachment that I have on there it's a
00:11:53
thumb peg that I've made and put on it I
00:11:56
don't sell the thumb pegs it's just
00:11:57
something kind of fun and I wanted a
00:11:58
different foot on there just thought
00:11:59
it'd be nice
00:12:01
ultra view makes really good thump x2
00:12:04
you can put them in there change them
00:12:05
out whatever you want to do this is just
00:12:08
personally I wanted my own to put on
00:12:10
there and since I'm doing the 3d
00:12:12
printing side so I had this it's my
00:12:14
go-to I use the fast click in it the
00:12:17
fast click for me seems to be the best
00:12:18
because I don't have a lot of movement
00:12:21
after I get to full draw and after I get
00:12:23
into my anchor to where the release
00:12:25
actually fires so I can focus on
00:12:27
maintaining solid pressure in the system
00:12:29
and then a small movement after that to
00:12:32
actually activate the shot other
00:12:34
releases I use frequently when I'm
00:12:37
switching things up or kind of changing
00:12:38
things around is the true ball abyss
00:12:40
flex this is the thumb model version
00:12:43
that kind of coincides with the fulcrum
00:12:46
flex its um it's a little bit different
00:12:49
on the feel on the anchor of it angled
00:12:51
ahead of the release and stuff and
00:12:53
actually shoved it over a little bit so
00:12:54
change it some even more if you don't
00:12:57
know you can actually adjust the head of
00:12:59
the release left and right you can do
00:13:00
the same thing on the fulcrum flex to
00:13:02
change the balance point kind of how it
00:13:04
feels in your hand you'll notice on this
00:13:06
one it's a four finger version when I
00:13:08
shoot a thumb release a lot I like the
00:13:10
extra leverage on there not rocking or
00:13:13
rotating the release but it keeps a good
00:13:14
flat hand for me and it seems to be more
00:13:17
concerned when I'm placing my thumb on the thumb
00:13:18
peg and actually pulling through square
00:13:21
peg they're half-inch diameter on the
00:13:25
standard peg this is 3/4 so bigger
00:13:29
obviously I just like that better
00:13:31
because my hand seems to fit just the
00:13:33
way that I'm using it my thumb is
00:13:34
further away so if I have to use that
00:13:36
half inch it seems like it gets too far
00:13:37
in it's harder for me to execute with it
00:13:39
personally I like the square peg I
00:13:42
designed this because I was having
00:13:44
issues with my thumb kind of slipping
00:13:45
around this has a little bit of an edge
00:13:48
and a grip that I can put on here that
00:13:50
kind of catches as I'm pulling through
00:13:51
and executing my shot so I use this as a
00:13:55
training tool mostly if I start feeling
00:13:58
weird with the hinge release or
00:14:00
something gets nachi on it I actually
00:14:01
pull this out and I use it a lot the
00:14:03
same as a tension release like a car
00:14:05
revolution stand element those type
00:14:07
where as it's here and I don't worry
00:14:09
about activating thumb or doing anything
00:14:11
I just continually pull through and it's
00:14:13
just working on the consistent thumb
00:14:15
pressure on that thumb peg to begin with
00:14:17
so it's kind of a reset button for me
00:14:19
something that I like to use last little
00:14:23
thing when it comes down to just odds
00:14:25
and ends I actually use stuck-up archery
00:14:28
pins so if you haven't ever seen these
00:14:30
they're awesome younger kid that makes
00:14:34
these along with his family and some
00:14:36
friends 3d printed but man they're
00:14:40
well-made they're super good on price I
00:14:42
had these two made up
00:14:44
early early on you can actually change
00:14:46
the colors that you want on here now and
00:14:48
do a lot different things with them but
00:14:49
I don't know they're really cool it's a
00:14:51
little personalized touch kind of cool
00:14:53
to have these when you go to a
00:14:54
tournament or it's around practicing at
00:14:55
home and just kind of going down down
00:14:58
that route alright last thing that I
00:15:01
wanted to talk about really fast is the
00:15:03
target that I'm using and this is
00:15:04
actually my original Big Boy archery
00:15:07
target that I got I think three years
00:15:09
ago too for sure maybe three but as when
00:15:12
they first started the company when they
00:15:14
first started coming out with these
00:15:15
targets I purchased it because they're
00:15:16
economically priced they're multi-layer
00:15:19
foam targets and they hold up really
00:15:22
well especially for the price now you'll
00:15:25
see here it looks a little bit different
00:15:26
than maybe what you've seen in the past
00:15:28
this is actually a face that you can buy
00:15:30
they come with the targets when you buy
00:15:32
a new but I purchased this one
00:15:33
separately and you get them at different
00:15:35
thicknesses and different sizes but this
00:15:37
has helped the longevity of this target
00:15:39
for me it was actually starting to get
00:15:40
kind of worn down it's it's older it's
00:15:43
still starting to move and it shifts
00:15:45
around a little bit when you're looking
00:15:46
at it and got to readjust it because the
00:15:48
the foam is actually getting really worn
00:15:50
out but it's three years old it gets
00:15:52
shot a lot smaller so everything's kind
00:15:54
of compacted in there
00:15:57
this phone face you're looking at right
00:15:58
now probably has a close to a thousand
00:16:01
arrows in it with what you're seeing
00:16:02
some of these bigger holes and shifting
00:16:04
the targets up and down and left and
00:16:05
right when I'm using a Vegas face at 20
00:16:07
yards what all of this is seen so
00:16:10
extremely well-kept for what it is and
00:16:14
it's working really well so I wanted to
00:16:16
throw that out there they make some
00:16:17
targets now that you can get in stiffer
00:16:20
banding meaning how hard they're
00:16:22
compacting them together for higher
00:16:24
poundage targets all the way to youth
00:16:25
the targets that are looser banding so
00:16:27
the aerials can actually stick in there
00:16:28
first its bouncing out and coming back
00:16:30
at them so have you ever seen that
00:16:33
before over the youth bow but it's an
00:16:34
interesting situation to see an arrow
00:16:36
come flying back at a kid so super
00:16:40
awesome love these targets recommend
00:16:43
them for everybody I think there's still
00:16:45
a little bit behind in production it
00:16:47
seems like that they keep a lot of
00:16:49
orders going through but no the weights
00:16:51
not as long as it used to be so keep
00:16:53
these in mind check them out whenever
00:16:55
you need a target next round
00:16:58
alright guys that's my setup that's my
00:17:01
rundown for my equipment what I'm using
00:17:03
some of the accessories that I have
00:17:04
appreciate you watching this video today
00:17:06
I'm gonna have some more coming out soon
00:17:08
I'm actually gonna do a little bit of a
00:17:10
shooting video I know a lot of people
00:17:12
have kind of wanted to see that and it's
00:17:13
gonna be me shooting a simulated round
00:17:17
for an online archery tournament setup
00:17:19
so I wanted you to be able to see what
00:17:20
that looks like especially now because
00:17:22
you can't really get out to go to any
00:17:24
more tournaments and this might be a
00:17:26
good alternative for you to kind of keep
00:17:27
the competitive juices flowing and put
00:17:29
yourself into some pressure so pretty
00:17:31
cool to see that I'm gonna do a full
00:17:33
rundown on it a full explanation so you
00:17:35
can see exactly how they run that I'm
00:17:37
also going to give you just some videos
00:17:38
of me shooting and talking and doing
00:17:39
some tips like always and shot of you a
00:17:42
few more of these this weekend so we can
00:17:44
get them out over the coming weeks maybe
00:17:46
even do a multiple video per week set up
00:17:48
to you plenty of watch so if you want to
00:17:51
support this channel and you feel like
00:17:52
you're able to patreon.com/scishow up in
00:17:57
the description of this video I would
00:17:58
love to have your contributions on there
00:18:00
there's some different packages on it
00:18:01
that allow you to have different things
00:18:02
we've got a couple more podcasts that I
00:18:06
can do before I'm gonna run out of space
00:18:08
on there and have to purchase additional
00:18:09
space so I'm gonna make the decision
00:18:11
whether or not I'm going to do that
00:18:13
based off of just support stuff coming
00:18:15
in don't have the money to put it out
00:18:18
there to buy the subscription right now
00:18:21
that I want to just come out of pocket
00:18:23
with so if there's a need for that and
00:18:24
if there's a want for it and you like
00:18:26
the podcast and want it now you know see
00:18:27
that happen more let me know you can
00:18:30
comment on this video tell me about it
00:18:31
you can go on there on the patreon and
00:18:33
you know click the support for that - so
00:18:36
much appreciated there if you've had an
00:18:38
order through me for the thumb pegs the
00:18:41
two finger attachments those items are
00:18:45
going there they're coming out but
00:18:47
they're slower right now I actually
00:18:49
order them through a printing service
00:18:51
they come to me in the mail and I have
00:18:52
to mail them out to you and with
00:18:53
everything being crazy right now it's
00:18:55
taking a little bit longer to get them
00:18:57
in and out so if you've ordered one bear
00:18:59
with me have some patience some of them
00:19:01
have gone out last week and they're
00:19:04
normally 3 4 ish days and I'm
00:19:07
told two weeks so keep that in mind
00:19:10
same thing with them coming into me I
00:19:11
can ormally get them in within a week
00:19:12
two weeks tops and right now it's I've
00:19:14
had an order where I'm on two weeks so
00:19:17
far that I'm still waiting to get it so
00:19:19
give me some patience on that guy's
00:19:21
sorry about that you know apologize but
00:19:23
just way with craziness going on right
00:19:25
now we she ate you watching this video
00:19:27
again and all your support stay safe
00:19:29
stay healthy stay in your homes if you
00:19:32
can if you're not having to work I know
00:19:34
some of us are still having to work so
00:19:36
but stay safe guys I'll talk to you soon
