I'm right Vance well bar tracker calm
00:00:02
and today we're gonna break down the new
00:00:04
rage cycles fender eliminator install on
00:00:07
our 2018 Suzuki GSXR 1000 our STG
00:00:13
project like
00:00:15
[Music]
00:00:22
okay let's open up I shown you the
00:00:25
signals right now I'm going to talk
00:00:35
about the flash rate okay this is a
00:00:38
little quicker than the OE flash rate
00:00:42
that is correctable okay
00:00:44
new rage offers some dual load
00:00:48
equalizers we have those on the site
00:00:49
where you'll follow up video installing
00:00:51
those showing you how to slow this flash
00:00:53
rate down okay we'll have that out later
00:00:56
this week if you're cool with it just
00:00:58
leave it alone you'll be done it looks
00:01:00
great this is really tucked up in there
00:01:02
nicely all their stuff is plug-and-play
00:01:05
the turn signals both have factory
00:01:07
connectors on the end they plug right in
00:01:09
the plate light also factory connector
00:01:12
right on that plugs right in the reason
00:01:15
they flash a little faster is the LEDs
00:01:16
they don't generate the same electrical
00:01:20
draw or load that the incandescent
00:01:22
lights that came stock on the bike do
00:01:24
okay so the flasher sees a different
00:01:27
load and it flashes faster it's
00:01:29
basically like if you have one of the
00:01:31
lights out you'll have a faster flash
00:01:33
rate that kind of indicates you have a
00:01:35
light out some people don't care some
00:01:37
people want the flash rate slower we'll
00:01:39
show you how to do that like I said in a
00:01:41
follow-up video the installation of this
00:01:44
we're gonna show you every single step
00:01:45
is really pretty straightforward Suzuki
00:01:48
did a great job with the OE body look on
00:01:50
this I want to show you how to take the
00:01:52
tail apart to get this installed the
00:01:54
tools that you need for mill t-handle
00:01:57
five mill t-handle you need a 25 Torx
00:02:02
bit up there 10 mil socket flat bladed
00:02:06
screwdriver some real basic hand tools
00:02:08
and I think most people are gonna have
00:02:10
that in their kit to be able to get this
00:02:12
done it's important to note as well with
00:02:15
this okay every areas different
00:02:17
regulations restrictions and you know
00:02:20
the way police look at motorcycles this
00:02:22
is pretty tucked up in there so if you
00:02:24
know you're in a community where they're
00:02:26
like man that thing needs to be like way
00:02:28
out here or they're not going to be
00:02:29
super pumped about it just think about
00:02:31
that before you
00:02:32
put it on realistically most places
00:02:34
because this does have a real good plate
00:02:36
light on it you're typically not going
00:02:38
to have any issues at all do you like
00:02:42
what you see and you want to install
00:02:43
this on your bike stay tuned video
00:02:45
Steve's going to show you every step of
00:02:47
the way what it takes to get this new
00:02:49
rage fender limb installed on the STG
00:02:53
ejector okay now removing the tail let's
00:02:58
take a look at this trim piece here a
00:03:01
couple of Clips here release those
00:03:05
little flat blade underneath okay we do
00:03:09
have the key cylinder in there too let's
00:03:11
see if we can get the sides of the tail
00:03:13
off without pulling that key cylinder we
00:03:18
have multiple fasteners four mil
00:03:22
internal hex once again I must say it's
00:03:26
a good looking hardware on this bike man
00:03:27
I like that try to keep track of each
00:03:31
fastener you pull out where it came from
00:03:35
to make sure that you're putting the
00:03:37
right stuff back in the right places
00:03:38
okay
00:03:40
especially the fasteners that have a
00:03:42
shoulder we don't want to do is be
00:03:45
clamping down on the OE plastics using a
00:03:52
fastener that should be shouldered with
00:03:55
one that is not bumpers for the
00:04:00
passenger seat back here it's a 5 mil
00:04:04
internal hex rubber grommet and there's
00:04:06
a top hat spacer it looks like in there
00:04:10
and it appears that you'll be able to
00:04:13
pull the sides of the tail off just by
00:04:15
removing that clip and then of course
00:04:17
the fasteners
00:04:33
your image from the other side like so
00:04:45
okay now we're going to come underneath
00:04:47
the tail a couple of clips here same
00:04:52
thing we showed you on the top just lift
00:04:54
up here in the center
00:04:56
that'll disengage it we'll do the same
00:05:01
on the other side
00:05:16
okay right here there is pushpin and a
00:05:23
rubber grommet pull out on that to
00:05:25
disengage it same deal here on the other
00:05:28
side okay that's kind of then go this
00:05:35
around a little bit and see what we're
00:05:36
left with does look like from here I'm
00:05:43
going to be able to slide this off
00:05:47
basically slid it back and lift it up
00:05:51
just a bit like so and you can see if
00:05:58
you look at this tail and definitely be
00:06:00
careful back here there's two Phillips
00:06:02
screws that are holding this little
00:06:07
panel into these sides even though they
00:06:11
do clip in right here the best way to
00:06:15
remove this is gonna be the way that I
00:06:16
just did lightly spread it apart and
00:06:19
then slide it back okay now to remove
00:06:24
the rear fender itself we've got a
00:06:27
wiring harness strap right here this is
00:06:30
reusable just push it on that Tod it's
00:06:31
going to allow that to be reused this
00:06:34
will release the harness for the tail
00:06:36
light as well as the turn signals and
00:06:39
the license plate light will determine
00:06:42
which connectors are which as we go
00:06:43
through the process of removing the
00:06:45
fender now this is supported and held on
00:06:49
to the subframe by four bolts ten mil
00:06:53
hex head you can use a ratchet a wrench
00:06:59
whatever works best for you is an air
00:07:04
ratchet
00:07:08
it just make this move on a little
00:07:10
quicker for us pay attention to what was
00:07:15
their shoulder bolts save all your only
00:07:20
stuff even if you're doing your friend
00:07:21
or limb save all your stuff if you're
00:07:24
not reusing these then just kind of let
00:07:36
that rest on the rear tire now Phillips
00:07:38
screwdriver you'll see that on each side
00:07:41
of the subframe we have a Phillips screw
00:07:44
just holding part of the under tail to
00:07:46
the subframe don't move each of these
00:07:49
they're identical
00:07:51
he's gonna try to bring the camera over
00:07:52
here to show you just gonna allow it to
00:07:55
flop down just a little bit more for me
00:07:58
now as I rotate this out right here okay
00:08:03
there is a Phillips screw right here in
00:08:05
the center he's literally worth like
00:08:06
fighting camera or screwdriver I want
00:08:10
okay let's go ahead and take this one
00:08:13
off there is a clip up front I'm gonna
00:08:21
show you here a point to it right here
00:08:25
so you have to slide back okay and
00:08:29
that's going to release it from the OE
00:08:31
undertail now let's take a look at the
00:08:34
harnesses a larger one is for our tail
00:08:37
light the other two are gonna be for the
00:08:40
turn signals and then of course the
00:08:43
license plate light so we'll go ahead
00:08:44
and release all those it's a new style
00:08:49
connector I've not seen that lift up
00:08:51
like this right here and then pull back
00:08:58
that's pretty cool connector onto the
00:09:01
plate lights kind of taped in here a
00:09:02
little bit
00:09:06
looks like it has a different release -
00:09:07
I pushed down on that right here allowed
00:09:12
that to slide right out now make sure
00:09:15
you're still holding on to the tail or
00:09:17
I'm sorry the rear fender and we're
00:09:19
gonna feed all the wires man that
00:09:23
thing's heavy - there you go that's how
00:09:28
you remove your OE rear fender on this
00:09:32
bike okay for the Suzuki new rage offers
00:09:37
instructions you go to our site print
00:09:39
these right off got color pictures these
00:09:42
are definitely helpful okay so do that
00:09:45
so you have those for reference now jump
00:09:48
right into the install what I want you
00:09:51
to do is let's get all the pieces laid
00:09:53
out nicely we've got the hardware that
00:09:55
they've supplied here we're gonna reuse
00:09:57
these two bolts that held on the stock
00:10:01
rear fender okay you've got your turn
00:10:05
signals here the plate holder with
00:10:10
license plate light here mounting
00:10:15
bracket that bolts to the bike then you
00:10:19
have cover that is going to hide all of
00:10:24
that exposed ugliness right there they
00:10:28
also include a couple of cable ties so
00:10:31
you can really tidy up the wiring as you
00:10:33
do the install okay the first thing
00:10:36
we're gonna do is install this well nut
00:10:38
they've supplied its gonna go in the
00:10:40
hole right here in that holy undertail
00:10:43
try to push it in from this direction
00:10:46
that's not gonna happen just can't
00:10:48
distort the metal insert enough to get
00:10:50
it passed so what I do is pull this down
00:10:53
a bit I've unplugged the taillight as
00:10:58
well as the turn signals just to get me
00:11:01
a little more movement downward with
00:11:06
this Oh II under tail it's gonna help me
00:11:08
see what the hell I'm doing here and get
00:11:10
this push through using a screwdriver to
00:11:13
help me tuck the well nut down in
00:11:19
through the hole
00:11:26
okay like so
00:11:32
next we'll mount up the bracket it now R
00:11:37
install this bracket on the bike to do
00:11:40
that we'll use two of the OE fasteners
00:11:43
that held on the stock rear tail alright
00:11:47
the rear fender there shouldered they
00:11:49
have a little blue loctite on them
00:11:50
they've included two spacers that will
00:11:53
be sandwiched between this bracket and
00:11:54
the subframe of the bike right here in
00:12:03
that position is where it's gonna mount
00:12:04
let it go fasta bracket spacer to the
00:12:15
under set or to the ohm sorry the
00:12:16
subframe do this on both sides it's
00:12:20
really important to we snug these
00:12:21
fasteners we make sure that the space
00:12:25
where they've included is not trapped
00:12:28
between the shoulder of the bolt and the
00:12:29
subframe you want it to be with the
00:12:32
shoulder inside the hole on that spacer
00:12:39
send get here's the other side try to
00:12:46
stick in the wrong hole man okay we got
00:12:48
that ten millimeter socket I'm gonna run
00:12:52
these down just a little bit do that on
00:12:58
both sides and then I'll make sure that
00:13:00
those spacers are positioned correctly
00:13:04
on top of that shoulder go okay come on
00:13:11
the other side
00:13:26
so put final torque on that okay now
00:13:35
we're going to take this supplied
00:13:37
fastener and install this panel by
00:13:42
running this fastener into that well now
00:13:45
that we've installed that is a Torx bit
00:13:55
t25 okay didn't run that down all the
00:14:06
way okay now it's time for the license
00:14:12
plate plate bracket with the license
00:14:15
plate light also LED and of course the
00:14:19
turn signals this mounts flush against
00:14:23
the bike we're then gonna put the
00:14:28
supplied spacers in between the plate
00:14:34
bracket and the turn signals and then
00:14:37
slip this fastener also supplied through
00:14:43
each piece and bolt it down to the bike
00:14:47
okay the easiest way to do this is just
00:14:50
get everything mocked up and then bring
00:14:52
it up to the bike in the same order that
00:14:56
I described okay and let's get to the
00:14:59
fastener started
00:15:19
okay now let's deal with the white line
00:15:22
I'm going to slide back this protective
00:15:24
covering just a little bit here on the
00:15:29
turn signals try and hide that red and
00:15:36
black okay and then can route everything
00:15:48
up in through the undertale let's look
00:15:53
for the cleanest way to do this I mean
00:15:55
obviously you want this end result to be
00:15:57
just really tidy go past the turn signal
00:16:01
harnesses through the backside of that
00:16:08
bracket we mounted to the bottom of the
00:16:11
subframe right here okay
00:16:27
like so on the reason I slid that
00:16:29
covering back is you know I just really
00:16:31
want to hide the wires the black and the
00:16:34
red back that I don't see any of that
00:16:37
and from here to bring all this up over
00:16:45
there alright that works for me the
00:16:47
plate light we can probably do that to
00:16:50
get that behind that bracket I want to
00:16:55
try and have as much of the wiring
00:16:57
hidden as possible we put the tail back
00:17:00
together okay start plugging some stuff
00:17:09
in here like so the turn signals we're
00:17:12
going to want to take a second determine
00:17:14
which one is which side so you want to
00:17:17
do that now
00:17:18
I've already got my left signal turned
00:17:20
on and I'm pretty sure that it is this
00:17:29
one here should be the right side
00:17:39
so let's double check that okay let's
00:17:56
really focus on these harnesses now
00:17:59
we're to get some cable ties out and
00:18:01
begin to secure this stuff got a pair of
00:18:11
side cutters over here already so we can
00:18:13
trim the tails off we've installed this
00:18:21
stuff first on that r6 project bike that
00:18:24
we did for one of our local customers
00:18:27
Ryan and like I tell you it's been a
00:18:29
really big hit ever since we've got a
00:18:32
couple more installs coming for their
00:18:34
products shortly after we do the one
00:18:37
here for the Suzuki 1000 and and my
00:18:43
expectations are this stuff is just
00:18:45
going to keep on chugging because it's a
00:18:46
pretty fresh new look with this GSXR
00:18:54
1000 you know we're still uh still need
00:18:57
to figure out those front signals it's
00:18:59
got the gorgeous om stalks on there's a
00:19:02
few options that I've seen out there and
00:19:05
we're going to continue to look and
00:19:06
probably try a couple of different
00:19:08
things which we will of course share
00:19:10
with you all as we get the installs done
00:19:18
okay now take stock
00:19:33
this is a reusable cable tie that says
00:19:37
you get installed on the bike back here
00:19:39
I took it off during their removal reuse
00:19:42
that
00:19:57
all right good measure you use a lot of
00:20:03
supplied cable ties the new rage cent of
00:20:11
the kit of course when take the side
00:20:17
cutters just trim the tails off the
00:20:20
table ties that we used like so and now
00:20:27
we're ready the tail and put it back on
00:20:30
the bike okay when we reinstall the tail
00:20:34
it's all one piece right you flex it a
00:20:36
little bit you want to be careful with
00:20:37
it mounting points here here here and
00:20:44
then the tongue that comes off the tail
00:20:46
light itself you want to make sure that
00:20:48
you get all that secured properly
00:20:51
easiest way to do this because slide the
00:20:55
tail section over like so you got spread
00:20:57
it apart just a little bit begin to dip
00:21:00
it into position back here these tangs
00:21:07
on the side getting those lined up okay
00:21:11
it's got about one side at a time
00:21:13
approach it I got that side to go come
00:21:17
back here get this other side dial in
00:21:28
like so slide forward and let's double
00:21:36
check our work make sure both sides are
00:21:38
good and secured once you have slid that
00:21:42
forward enough on either side of the
00:21:46
tail section okay remember we have those
00:21:50
push pins that go into the rubber
00:21:52
grommets right here one on each side
00:21:54
look in there and see it just give that
00:21:57
a little push it's gonna slide in other
00:22:00
side pull in those are not locked in
00:22:04
place
00:22:05
all right underneath install these
00:22:08
factory clips back in
00:22:12
slide in place push in there are two on
00:22:19
either side stuffs all reusable okay
00:22:39
go ahead and snug up the hardware for
00:22:41
the fender eliminator itself remember
00:22:46
that's just going into a well nut so we
00:22:49
don't need to get crazy on the torque
00:22:50
here that right there will be adequate
00:22:54
got a four t-handle here we'll run them
00:23:07
both down and then I'll put some torque
00:23:09
to them
00:23:27
like so okay we're gonna go ahead and
00:23:30
put the plate on now real quick the way
00:23:33
they design this you know that it's kind
00:23:35
of universal you see the slots here
00:23:37
every plate is gonna be shaped a little
00:23:39
bit differently that's just how it is
00:23:41
right so you may be able to use four
00:23:44
bolts to hold your plate dependent upon
00:23:47
the shape you know or you may only be
00:23:49
able to get two in there looks like with
00:23:51
our Michigan plate the shape and size of
00:23:53
it wanting to be able to get to it's not
00:23:55
a problem it's gonna be more than enough
00:23:57
to hold the plate to do this I probably
00:24:02
could have put this on the bracket
00:24:04
before I put it all up in there but
00:24:07
we're just gonna go ahead and show you
00:24:10
how to do it now excusing a parent leave
00:24:12
on most pliers to hold the nut on the
00:24:13
backside
00:24:14
these simple stuff I think it looks a
00:24:21
little cleaner with the fastener on the
00:24:25
outside and nut on the inside let's go
00:24:28
and get your stuff all lined up just
00:24:30
like that
00:24:40
it could be smarter than me and put this
00:24:42
all together before you kid it all up on
00:24:44
the bike but that's really not that much
00:24:46
of an inconvenience and once I get this
00:24:48
started on both sides we'll go ahead and
00:24:51
torque down the plate itself
00:24:54
make sure it's all square it looks
00:24:58
really good you want your instant all to
00:24:59
be as clean as possible kind of slide
00:25:04
and stuff around until I feel like I've
00:25:07
got it nice and even the nuts they've
00:25:12
supplied have a locking device on the
00:25:15
backside it's gonna help us run them
00:25:16
down hold it man you can see that a
00:25:21
final result that is really tucked up in
00:25:23
there okay before we go any further
00:25:28
let's double-check everything I need to
00:25:31
make sure we got our signals jamming
00:25:35
right signal notice we do have a little
00:25:39
faster than Oh a flash talk about that
00:25:42
later
00:25:45
left side good to go
00:25:47
license plate light is on now we can go
00:25:55
ahead and lower the bike a bit and put
00:25:58
the remaining body panels back okay
00:26:01
let's go ahead and just get this tail
00:26:04
button back up slide that trim panel
00:26:09
under there like so
00:26:10
on the other side same gig I'm just
00:26:17
gonna pop right in there back in place
00:26:38
these shoulder bolts you always want to
00:26:40
make sure that the shoulder is not
00:26:42
pinched the bodywork between the
00:26:46
mounting surface and shoulder because
00:26:49
that will absolutely damage it okay do
00:26:52
not want to do that and then we have
00:26:55
these right here one on each side
00:27:04
sometimes when you have tight access
00:27:06
like that you can use the tool itself to
00:27:09
get it started you do want to be aware
00:27:11
of the additional leverage that you do
00:27:13
have and that it's possible it's a lot
00:27:17
easier to start it cross thread and you
00:27:20
definitely do not want to do that
00:27:42
grab a seat side trim okay next up is
00:27:49
the seat make sure these tabs go through
00:27:53
the slots here on the back lift up to
00:27:58
verify and go ahead and let it drop into
00:28:01
position to see passes five mill
00:28:05
internal hex run those down and then all
00:28:13
we have left is the passenger seat pile
00:28:16
on the side rail okay this idler
00:28:20
push pin here push pin here two grommets
00:28:22
on the tail section of the bike this
00:28:25
little velcro patch here lines up with
00:28:27
that clip fastener right here easiest
00:28:33
way to put this on is it's kind of slide
00:28:35
it up in there slide it up here in the
00:28:38
front as well and then I want you to put
00:28:40
a little upward pressure on it and kind
00:28:42
of slide it back and I'll notice how
00:28:43
that jumped up in there now the clip is
00:28:46
in position push the two pins into the
00:28:53
grommets and now all this velcro you can
00:28:55
actually hear that and that stuff locks
00:28:58
and it'll really tight
00:29:03
last piece faster same thing on both
00:29:06
sides you want to make sure you have
00:29:08
this trim installed correctly so you do
00:29:10
not lose it while you're riding okay
00:29:14
there you have it there is our new rage
00:29:15
cycles GSXR 1000 17 and up fender
00:29:20
eliminator install okay if you have any
00:29:23
questions or comments just leave those
00:29:24
on the youtube channel I answer all that
00:29:27
stuff any technical questions I can help
00:29:29
you through it questions with the
00:29:31
install I can help you through that too
00:29:33
all in all I think it looks good they
00:29:34
did a nice job of this I really dig the
00:29:37
LED turn signal is how they have that
00:29:39
machined in there inside the plastic I
00:29:41
think it looks really bitchin this is
00:29:43
certainly tucked up in there with really
00:29:45
clean lines
