creativity planning and novel nature of actual

the whole experience so much more fun more real

armaged in 2002 it's kind of a wasteland set
like it's kind of a garbage issue but i swear 00:14:26
that they made it just so they could have
caine's entrance blowed up and set fire 00:14:30
to it nice but otherwise a bit of a crap 00:14:34
for the other two hours 58 minutes of pay-per-view
ah pay-per-views being three hours what a time um 00:14:40
number nine king of the ring 2001. is this one
with a massive chair it is yeah yeah yeah yeah 00:14:47
sticking with the kind of king throne theme it
was more of an electric chair and had the frosted 00:14:51
glass panels on the side just in case anyone's
feeling froggy wants to test the tensile strength 00:15:03
the chair itself bit crappy and bare but like
the idea of it is amazing very cool number eight 00:15:09
knight of champions you've got the regal red and
gold set up the giant pillars big red curtains 00:15:14
have the kind of basketball banners showing all
the championship belts yeah he's pretty fancy 00:15:19
looking very on brand and cost effective fancy
despite it not being that expensive and it's great 00:15:25
to see all the belts i mean blown up big huge size
belts yeah it's very very cool looking very nice 00:15:31
number seven wrestlemania 34 in new orleans
okay i'm not huge on the led sets but it's 00:15:37
my second favorite use of it it had a big kind of
jester thing as well and it just it was crazy big 00:15:43
very very cool party time mardi gras yeah
yeah yeah great gimmick and they'd been doing 00:15:48
the kind of giant leds for a while so this is
kind of the culmination of it so big thumbs up 00:15:53
number six nitro spring break it's just any time
they do spring break they have the ring surrounded 00:15:59
by a little pool of water and i just think it's
it's [ __ ] it's crazy looking just because 00:16:03
we're kind of mostly wwf fans so just seeing
something that's so different than inside an arena 00:16:09
outdoor with a pool holy [ __ ] at night time as
well and of course nash just jumps in the pool00:16:17
you know giants you're lucky that on the
1998 cannonball champion of spring break 00:16:28
number five bash at the beach 96 had sand
and wooden entranceway beach themes that 00:16:34
his colorful parrots there's a hot surfboard and
like you when you think of hogan's iconic heel 00:16:40
turn whose side is he on you can think you can
actually see it in your head this is what the 00:16:44
set looks like in the background as well thank [
__ ] they had a decent set for that because it's 00:16:48
one of the most overplayed moments in
history that's a different top 10 stuff00:16:56
you can hear the snark number four wrestlemania
33 in orlando yeah this is one of my favorites um 00:17:05
massive ramp universal roller coaster thing in the
background yeah the whole theme park ride theme is 00:17:11
like amazing they put a lot of effort into it
as well i think loop and they kind of have the 00:17:15
universal sign for wrestlemania yeah big thumbs up
and was that the one with the with the sperm snake00:17:26
number three royal rumble 2003 this is
the one with the water feature isn't it 00:17:31
ah there we go i have this written down as
well nice okay the main part of the set is 00:17:36
not that impressive but just the difficulty and
frankly unnecessary ridiculousness of having 00:17:42
it rain indoors is so great they
have to sequester it off to the side 00:17:47
so it's just one part of the set it's
raining but like holy [ __ ] it's raining now 00:17:51
i wish there was a way to get us to be the
middle of the set and so wrestlers would go 00:17:55
through it but you don't want them slipping
and sliding ultimo dragon style hooray or uh 00:18:01
mandy rose from wrestlemania 2021 when she
was coming out and she fill the [ __ ] arms00:18:10

number two backlash 2002. yeah with the giant
swinging hooks usually they were just dangly but 00:18:23
this time to actually move them whenever they
got past it so it would move in the background 00:18:27
and so they had them for 2000 and 2001 and i

didn't really go far enough and like if wwe did it

giant inflatable gargoyle demon hands on
a big pumpkin with the logo etched into it 00:19:38
mausoleums on each side tombstones dry ice wafting
throughout the show fantastic look i thought so 00:19:46
fitting for a halloween pay-per-view it's awesome
i love it i cannot argue with that being top spot 00:19:52
yeah very good the wibbly wobbly yeah i love it i
loved it yeah i mean it should be hokey and stupid 00:20:00
but it was really cool was there a big snicker

i thought it was okay apart from obviously a lot
of brawling initially eventually a match broke 00:23:23
out and it was enjoyable but yeah jesus raven man
it's not a good look so jericho kicks out of your 00:23:30
finisher then somebody interferes on your behalf
distracts jericho which usually leads to the 00:23:36
finish with the heel picking up the win jericho
has none of it lion tamer and immediate tap out 00:23:43
i'm not sure that was necessary so yeah he looks
horrendous jericho does not look any better 00:23:49
coming out of this match than he did going in but
raven looks considerably worse so what a shame um00:23:57
in the weeks following he do this gimmick where
he'd be scheduled for a match and he's like 00:24:00
i don't want to be in a tag against
the armstrong brothers and not doing it 00:24:04

so you can just have this match

see raven had a bit of creative control usually
reserved for the likes of hogan and ddp and 00:24:19
finally got to do this angle after weeks of not
wrestling citing his difficult childhood december 00:24:24
21st nitro his ma shows up and pleads with her
son to come home to west palm beach and get help 00:24:31
see it turns out that he's actually a trust
fund baby and he has 3.2 million waiting for him 00:24:36
he spends the next two months not wrestling but at
home with his upperclass mom being a stroppy teen 00:24:41
i don't want to see the treatment i don't want to
go back to the institution i don't want to talk 00:24:47
to you because you're aggravated really not all
about what you want it's like character murder 00:24:52
though oh he's done but if fitting with his
um obsolescence and acquiescence to this match 00:24:58

best bit is raven turning to the camera and saying 00:25:37
what a mark that's like 98 great stuff but

but and he wanted this angle oh yeah
this is his big thing this is his 00:25:48
yeah his baby yeah he wanted to kill his own
creation like assuming a little dose of bollocks00:26:03

wanted a change in structure the suits wanted a
cap for how much they can earn and the players 00:26:55
wanted to raise the minimum and in the end they
were off for six months and they went back in 00:27:01
january they solved it they got a two percent pay
cut what did the fans think what did the general 00:27:05
public think hated it it was a petty spat between
two sides of millionaires get the [ __ ] work and 00:27:11
when they came back it was they really killed
their numbers in attendance and a third show 00:27:17
oh my god i mean they already had five hours of
television every week and believe you me lads hulk 00:27:24
hogan and eric bischoff got to speak for large
segments of those five hours and they get to get 00:27:31
pay-per-view promo time on a card that's already
had a promo and that has 12 matches everyone 00:27:39

i think it was a missed opportunity overall it
