00:00:13
when Apple announced the Apple Vision
00:00:15
Pro the first thing that came to my mind
00:00:16
was can I edit on this and not with just
00:00:19
my MacBook connected but independently
00:00:21
can I edit on this device turns out you
00:00:24
can honestly getting this in the mail
00:00:26
was insanely surreal like I genuinely
00:00:29
just felt like I kid waiting for the UPS
00:00:31
driver picking it up unboxing it because
00:00:34
this isn't a product that Apple's ever
00:00:36
made before it's completely different
00:00:37
product category First Impressions
00:00:39
opening it up the the unboxing
00:00:41
experience is like second to n it's
00:00:43
absolutely amazing and I think we all
00:00:45
know that Apple's really good at the
00:00:47
presentation they're really good at
00:00:48
making things just visually look good to
00:00:50
get their audience excited putting these
00:00:52
goggles on the Apple Vision Pro is
00:00:54
honestly one of the coolest experiences
00:00:57
ever like your first time actually
00:00:59
experiencing that immersive VR and
00:01:01
obviously I've done stuff with meta and
00:01:03
other VR systems so I'm familiar with it
00:01:05
but it it just feels different with
00:01:07
apple they do it just in a slightly
00:01:09
different way that makes it feel more
00:01:11
premium and it makes it feel more
00:01:16
real
00:01:19
whoa I can see you oh my gosh it's
00:01:23
riding hello in front of
00:01:25
me this is wild like interacting with
00:01:28
that UI with the display with all these
00:01:30
different interface items playing around
00:01:32
with some of the apps I even did their
00:01:34
immersive dinosaur interactive thing
00:01:37
which straight up like freaked me out
00:01:39
it's actually terrifying my heartbeat
00:01:41
was genuinely racing and I haven't
00:01:43
experienced that with like The Meta
00:01:44
Quest I just haven't gotten it to that
00:01:46
point because I I know it's super fake
00:01:48
like it looks good but it's just not
00:01:50
quite there that on the other hand was
00:01:52
actually insane and the fact that that's
00:01:54
just a demo interactive experience that
00:01:57
Apple included with this there's going
00:01:58
to be so many more things devel veled
00:02:00
that makes this device even more insane
00:02:02
but amazing as it is on a practicality
00:02:04
standpoint there's still a lot of
00:02:06
downsides I think generally speaking
00:02:08
Apple makes very high quality stuff but
00:02:10
to be honest as I was using this I did
00:02:12
feel like they kind of deceived the
00:02:14
general public just a little bit the
00:02:15
experience that you have in these
00:02:17
goggles is absolutely insane but it's
00:02:21
really not quite what you see in the
00:02:23
commercials so after the whole setup
00:02:24
process getting my Apple ID synced and
00:02:27
actually just understanding how I can
00:02:28
even use it like tapping my fingers and
00:02:30
looking directly at the icons there's a
00:02:32
little bit of a learning curve just
00:02:34
feeling comfortable actually wearing the
00:02:36
goggles and by the way I'm referring to
00:02:37
them as goggles because you don't put
00:02:39
them on and have this immediate like
00:02:41
180° field of view you put them on and
00:02:44
you know you're wearing goggles there's
00:02:46
vignette here at the bottom after a
00:02:48
while I it lost its appeal frankly I
00:02:51
knew I wasn't going to wear them all day
00:02:52
if I had that full 180° view then I
00:02:55
could see myself wearing these for
00:02:56
longer periods of time but you just you
00:02:58
just feel like you're looking in
00:02:59
binocular after a while so to be honest
00:03:01
I was really just excited about two main
00:03:03
things editing with this thing obviously
00:03:06
and then using it on an airplane haven't
00:03:08
flown on an airplane yet today literally
00:03:10
just got these but I did edit an entire
00:03:12
unboxing video on the goggles again with
00:03:14
no MacBook attached and I'm actually
00:03:16
really impressed so after I set it up I
00:03:18
went to the app store downloaded Da
00:03:19
Vinci resolve started using it
00:03:21
immediately and since we had already
00:03:22
filmed that unboxing footage I had
00:03:24
Bryson actually aird drop me the single
00:03:26
clip that I need to use to actually
00:03:28
color and then edit inside of D Vinci
00:03:31
resolve so the go-to way of actually
00:03:33
using this system is obviously with your
00:03:35
eyes and your hand but you can also hook
00:03:37
up a keyboard and a mouse or at least a
00:03:39
trackpad I try to hook up my Logitech
00:03:41
mxmas 3s which is my go-to mouse for
00:03:45
editing and actually pretty much
00:03:46
anything but when I connected it via
00:03:48
Bluetooth it did connect and then it
00:03:50
immediately told me that that input
00:03:52
wasn't supported so if you don't already
00:03:54
like edit on a magic Trackpad editing on
00:03:57
this is going to be kind of annoying and
00:03:59
different different it was for me at
00:04:00
least like I don't usually edit on my
00:04:02
laptop with the trackpad I'm usually at
00:04:04
a desktop or if I have my laptop I
00:04:06
actually have an extra mouse that I
00:04:07
travel with so something to keep in mind
00:04:09
that while you can absolutely edit on
00:04:11
this thing you have to use Apple's
00:04:13
peripherals so overall editing
00:04:14
individually resolve inside of Apple
00:04:16
Vision Pro independently pretty good
00:04:19
experience I'd probably rate it like a 7
00:04:21
out of 10 it's really not bad I'm still
00:04:24
going to use my desktop to edit off of
00:04:26
cuz I'm just more used to that system
00:04:28
it's less tiring on my I don't feel like
00:04:30
I'm looking through goggles but it still
00:04:32
totally works I also hooked up my
00:04:33
MacBook Pro the M3 and used the screen
00:04:36
share feature that personally I think
00:04:38
was a bit better of an experience mainly
00:04:41
because I could use the mouse that I
00:04:42
wanted to use all my files and assets
00:04:44
and things that I normally use to edit
00:04:46
we're already there and unfortunately
00:04:48
with this system you actually can't have
00:04:50
multiple screens connected so I can't
00:04:52
like project my MacBook screen and then
00:04:55
duplicate that and have side screens I
00:04:57
can only project it once and then I can
00:04:59
use use apple Vision Pro to add on
00:05:01
Safari on the side or my messages or
00:05:03
something else so kind of limited it's
00:05:06
it's not quite as exciting as I thought
00:05:07
it was going to be like if you could
00:05:08
have just a monitor window and then your
00:05:10
timeline window right next to it that
00:05:12
would be really nice obviously you can
00:05:14
make that screen really big and you can
00:05:15
switch all those different Windows
00:05:17
around if you'd like to but I don't know
00:05:19
it was fun for like maybe 30 minutes and
00:05:21
then after that I was like I just don't
00:05:24
see myself using that there's a couple
00:05:25
things I had a hard time with actually
00:05:27
one of the main ones was accidentally
00:05:29
selecting things on the screen because
00:05:33
for whatever reason I tend to just like
00:05:35
bring my hands together and I talk with
00:05:36
my hands quite a bit and so while I was
00:05:38
editing or while I was just holding
00:05:40
something and I happened to be looking
00:05:42
at something on the Apple Vision Pro on
00:05:45
that fake display I'd accidentally click
00:05:47
something and so that would happen when
00:05:48
I was editing it got kind of annoying
00:05:50
different Windows would pop up so
00:05:52
something to keep in mind and then
00:05:53
because your eyes are looking directly
00:05:55
at these displays there's a little bit
00:05:57
of chromatic aberration like an RGB
00:06:00
split essentially that you can't see in
00:06:02
these screen recordings that I'm showing
00:06:04
you right now but it does make it kind
00:06:05
of hard to actually see everything on
00:06:08
your screen at once so wherever I'm
00:06:10
looking it's going to be fairly crisp
00:06:12
like text or whatever it might be but
00:06:14
then it slowly gets more blurry and more
00:06:16
blurry and then you see that chromatic
00:06:17
aberration kind of start to happen just
00:06:19
a little bit around the edges right
00:06:21
there and so my peripherals actually
00:06:23
don't work the same when I'm wearing
00:06:25
these like when you're editing at your
00:06:26
computer and you're on the timeline and
00:06:28
then you want to switch over to Spotify
00:06:30
you have another window open and you
00:06:31
want to play a song you might glance
00:06:33
over at that window but then you can see
00:06:35
in your peripherals where your mouse is
00:06:37
going and click play and then keep
00:06:39
editing or do whatever you need to do
00:06:41
with this you just you can't really do
00:06:43
that because you can't see your
00:06:44
peripherals as well as you'd like to and
00:06:46
if you're not using like a physical
00:06:47
keyboard and a mouse you have to look
00:06:50
exactly at the thing that you want to
00:06:52
select or it's not going to work so
00:06:54
obviously the technology is super cool
00:06:55
and the fact that you can even do that
00:06:57
to begin with is amazing but but from a
00:07:00
practicality standpoint for me at least
00:07:02
it's just going to take some getting
00:07:04
used to and frankly I might not ever get
00:07:06
used to it store blocks provides

00:08:09
the description so obviously this Tech
00:08:10
is super new to everyone and I have my
00:08:13
own personal questions and things I
00:08:14
wanted to learn and figure out with this
00:08:17
device but I also ask you guys if you
00:08:19
had any questions Edward ask me does it
00:08:21
feel too heavy on your head for Long
00:08:22
editing sessions and how is color
00:08:25
accuracy so to answer your first
00:08:26
question it's pretty freaking heavy and
00:08:28
because it's so front heavy your neck is
00:08:31
constantly like moving this way it's
00:08:34
really tiring I'm not going to lie in
00:08:36
terms of color accuracy though honestly
00:08:38
I'm insanely impressed like it performed
00:08:41
way better than I thought it was going
00:08:42
to I opened up that window virtually in
00:08:44
front of me I did a color space
00:08:46
transform I converted that SL log 3
00:08:48
basically to Rex 79 added some HDR did
00:08:51
some color grading used one of my Luts
00:08:53
and the way I was seeing it inside of
00:08:54
Apple Vision Pro looked basically the
00:08:57
same as it did on my computer so I know
00:08:59
that's not like a very scientific way of
00:09:01
looking at it like it looked the same
00:09:03
but I'm telling you it's extremely
00:09:05
accurate for what it is like if there's
00:09:06
differences they're marginal Rodney
00:09:08
asked is it nice for on thee-o editing
00:09:11
having 60-in screens on you honestly
00:09:13
this might be a heck of a lot bigger
00:09:15
than 60 in it felt like I was sitting on
00:09:17
like the second row of a movie theater
00:09:19
like that's how big I can make that
00:09:20
window on the go um I'm not sure I think
00:09:23
what will actually be really cool to try
00:09:25
is pulling out my laptop editing on the
00:09:28
airplane but wearing Apple Vision Pro
00:09:30
while I'm doing it I feel like one of
00:09:31
the most distracting parts of actually
00:09:32
being on an airplane and watching a
00:09:34
movie or editing or doing any sort of
00:09:36
work is the environment around you is
00:09:37
actually pretty distracting super loud
00:09:39
you have babies crying you have people
00:09:41
talking you have the captain coming on
00:09:43
the speaker like it's just a distracting
00:09:45
environment but if you can put those on
00:09:47
and limit those
00:09:49
distractions I think that's actually a
00:09:50
really great scenario Hunter asked how
00:09:52
useful will Vision Pro actually be for
00:09:55
creators we we honestly just have to
00:09:57
wait and see how this all plays out out
00:09:59
currently in my opinion just in the
00:10:01
experience that I've had over the last
00:10:02
few hours using this there's just not a
00:10:04
ton that you can do as like a content
00:10:07
creator like you can make content with
00:10:09
the product cuz it's so new but again
00:10:11
from a practical standpoint there's
00:10:13
really not anything that will make you a
00:10:15
better Creator just because you have
00:10:17
this it's a little bit of a novelty like
00:10:19
for example I wouldn't wear this on set
00:10:21
with a client like it it just wouldn't
00:10:23
really do any good and frankly I think
00:10:25
it's really weird maybe in like 20 years
00:10:28
when that's way more common to have a
00:10:30
screen on your face or and this is small
00:10:32
enough that it's not a huge distraction
00:10:34
like wearing this with a client holding
00:10:36
a camera filming there would be
00:10:38
convenience I guess if you put like your
00:10:40
notes a window of notes around you or
00:10:43
like a reference video or something else
00:10:46
so that you could shoot and then turn
00:10:48
around and check your notes and then go
00:10:49
back to shooting like I could see that
00:10:52
actually being kind of useful but it's
00:10:53
just so weird right now that I I really
00:10:55
don't think anyone's going to do that
00:10:56
for a while like you guys remember
00:10:58
Google class similar concept but it was
00:11:00
just a small piece of glass and a camera
00:11:03
right here that Google developed this
00:11:04
was like 10 years ago super cool piece
00:11:06
of tech no one really used it because it
00:11:10
was just too much and if that thing was
00:11:12
too much this is definitely too much so
00:11:14
again that might change but as of right
00:11:16
now it's not going to make you a better
00:11:18
content creator David ask how's the lag
00:11:20
and the response time honestly that from
00:11:23
a scientific technical standpoint I
00:11:25
don't know exactly what the delay is but
00:11:27
I didn't notice any anything like typing
00:11:29
on the keyboard was really quick even
00:11:31
using my trackpad to navigate around the
00:11:33
whole thing really intuitive so as far
00:11:35
as I can tell very very minimal delay
00:11:38
someone asked is it dependent on Wi-Fi
00:11:40
no as far as I can tell no you're not
00:11:43
dependent on Wi-Fi obviously if you want
00:11:45
to browse the internet or download
00:11:46
anything then yeah you need Wi-Fi but no
00:11:48
you could edit without it just fine
00:11:49
Christian asked how is the sound design
00:11:51
so I'm actually really impressed with
00:11:52
the spatial audio that they've included
00:11:55
in this something I noticed is that when
00:11:56
I was actually editing inside of Dent
00:11:58
resolve and then I had like Spotify open
00:12:01
in my browser and I clicked play to
00:12:02
listen to that music it was on this side
00:12:04
of me and it was actually only playing
00:12:06
in this year I'm sure there was a
00:12:07
setting where I could turn that off but
00:12:09
I found that kind of interesting and
00:12:10
when I was editing the actual video
00:12:12
inside of Da Vinci resolve since the
00:12:14
window was right in front of me the
00:12:16
audio was coming right at me headon so
00:12:18
overall it sounded pretty good I didn't
00:12:20
put on headphones but if you put on
00:12:22
airpods airpod Maxes whatever that might
00:12:24
be the audio is going to sound identical
00:12:26
as if you were just editing on your
00:12:28
MacBook if you're trying to do like
00:12:29
really accurate sound design and like
00:12:31
make sure you can hear everything
00:12:33
perfectly doing dialogue mixing with
00:12:35
music I haven't done that but I I don't
00:12:37
feel like that's going to be the best
00:12:39
solution like using these built-in
00:12:41
speakers so again I would definitely
00:12:43
recommend like airpods Max Jennings
00:12:44
asked how does it handle 4K 120 10bit
00:12:47
footage did not actually try that but we
00:12:50
did do 4K 24 at 10 bit and actually
00:12:53
there was no lag at all so for some
00:12:55
really basic editing it did a really
00:12:57
good job well if you were to add add- on
00:12:59
layers and different effects as much as
00:13:01
you can at least in the iPad version of
00:13:03
D Vinci resolve then you probably would
00:13:05
experience a little bit of lag I'd be
00:13:06
really surprised if you didn't but for
00:13:08
very simple edits it did a great job
00:13:11
David asks really simply just can it
00:13:13
speed up your workflow so speed up your
00:13:16
workflow no probably not I think it
00:13:18
might enhance your workflow if anything
00:13:21
and augment that but I don't think it's
00:13:22
actually going to like speed it up I
00:13:24
think the only thing that would speed it
00:13:25
up are peripherals that actually make
00:13:28
edit faster unfortunately as intuitive
00:13:30
as this product is looking and tapping
00:13:33
and whatever on the timeline like it
00:13:35
it's not fast you need to have a
00:13:37
keyboard and a trackpad so frankly if
00:13:38
anything it kind of slows you down
00:13:40
someone asked does it get hot uh yeah it
00:13:43
actually kind of does doesn't get like
00:13:45
super hot but it does get warm and
00:13:46
actually my forehead hurt too like
00:13:48
pushing that up against your face for a
00:13:50
long time I had a little bit of a
00:13:52
headache after Cody asked measure your
00:13:55
eye fatigue I'm actually surprised my
00:13:57
eyes weren't quite as tired as I thought
00:13:59
they were going to be at the end of
00:14:00
using this thing I had it on for
00:14:02
probably like 4 hours total without
00:14:04
taking it off and you'd think that your
00:14:06
eyes would be kind of bloodshot and just
00:14:08
really really tired but they weren't so
00:14:10
I'm not sure why cuz I feel like when I
00:14:12
wear the meta quest for too long my eyes
00:14:14
do hurt but on this that wasn't the case
00:14:16
it might be because the displays are
00:14:18
probably a higher resolution I just
00:14:19
didn't feel that fatigue but again 4
00:14:22
hours probably my limit and I think
00:14:25
that's a really really long time to have
00:14:26
two screens right here in front of your
00:14:28
eyes and last question from Sergio is it
00:14:31
really worth $3,000 for a new editing
00:14:34
setup if you are strictly getting this
00:14:37
as an editing setup no it's not I think
00:14:40
it's an insanely cool piece of tech but
00:14:42
this is not an editing machine as of
00:14:45
right now maybe if more functionality is
00:14:48
brought to it and maybe not even this
00:14:50
generation it might be Gen 2 or gen 3 of
00:14:52
this product but currently as it stands
00:14:56
I don't think it's worth it as an
00:14:57
editing setup and you might have already
00:14:59
known that answer I think more
00:15:00
specifically a lot of you want to know
00:15:02
is a good companion with your existing
00:15:04
editing setup like can you pair those
00:15:06
really well and I would say yes and no
00:15:09
there's pros and cons like we've talked
00:15:10
about in this video I think if you want
00:15:11
a really big virtual display it's a
00:15:13
great way to go but definitely consider
00:15:15
the downsides of your neck hurting
00:15:17
wearing these goggles and some of the
00:15:19
unfortunate things that you just have to
00:15:21
deal with when you're trying to look
00:15:22
around the screen and you can't see
00:15:23
everything clearly I think I was most
00:15:25
excited about the productivity aspect of
00:15:28
this product like how I could actually
00:15:29
do more in a day with this thing I
00:15:32
didn't know exactly how I was going to
00:15:33
be able to do that but I imagined
00:15:35
virtually having my apps open would
00:15:37
somehow help me do that and as of right
00:15:40
now I I just don't think it's quite
00:15:42
there super excited obviously to have
00:15:44
the product watching movies on this is
00:15:45
going to be fun new games that are
00:15:47
developed are going to be really cool if
00:15:48
the editing gets smoother and it's
00:15:50
easier to do that that will be really
00:15:52
exciting and really fun but currently I
00:15:54
kind of have mixed feelings I going to
00:15:56
be honest so this is obviously just the
00:15:57
first of several videos I imagine that
00:16:00
will release over the next few weeks we
00:16:02
filmed and edited this entire thing in
00:16:05
one day so bear with me cuz obviously
00:16:06
these are just mostly my first
00:16:08
impressions and my experience doing some
00:16:10
very basic editing on this thing and if
00:16:12
you're an aspiring content creator you
00:16:14

00:16:16
