00:00:19
episodes okay today i'm going to talk
00:00:22
about some of my favorite memories from
00:00:24
the past this is one of the funnest
00:00:26
topics to talk about because we all love
00:00:28
reminiscing about the good old days
00:00:30
let's just jump right in the first
00:00:32
memory i want to talk about is 6th grade
00:00:34
camp in case you've never heard of this
00:00:35
before in the u.s at least when i was in
00:00:38
school we had the tradition of going on
00:00:40
a week-long camping trip during 6th
00:00:42
grade when i went we didn't actually
00:00:44
camp in tents though we got divided into
00:00:46
groups and stayed in different cabins
00:00:48
with different camp counselors who were
00:00:50
in charge of the cabins i had such an
00:00:52
awesome time because we got to do a lot
00:00:54
of outdoor activities like hiking
00:00:56
archery and rock climbing
00:00:58
since i'm an outdoorsy person this type
00:01:00
of trip was right up my alley aside from
00:01:02
the activities we had plenty of time to
00:01:04
talk play and bond with the other kids
00:01:07
also the food was bomb of all the
00:01:09
memories i have of elementary school
00:01:11
sixth grade camp is probably number one
00:01:13
alright the next memory i want to talk
00:01:15
about is a trip i took to hawaii when i
00:01:17
was 13. i've actually been to hawaii a
00:01:19
handful of times but this trip was
00:01:21
special because it was only the first or
00:01:23
second time that i had ever traveled
00:01:24
without my parents i went with a friend
00:01:27
and his family and we stayed in a nice
00:01:28
hotel right across from waikiki beach in
00:01:30
honolulu at that time i thought it was
00:01:32
the coolest thing to take a week off
00:01:34
school go to one of the most beautiful
00:01:36
places on earth and be without my
00:01:37
parents i guess i didn't do anything
00:01:39
that special on that trip but the
00:01:41
circumstances were what made it such a
00:01:43
great memory for me okay another memory
00:01:45
that'll always stay with me is the first
00:01:47
day i drove to school in my own car i
00:01:49
was barely 16 i had just gotten my
00:01:51
license the day before and i felt like i
00:01:53
was on top of the world i remember
00:01:55
having my music playlist specifically
00:01:57
chosen for that momentous occasion
00:01:59
getting your driver's license is a big
00:02:01
rite of passage for young americans and
00:02:02
it's a proud moment when you can finally
00:02:04
drive yourself around and not have to
00:02:06
rely on your parents to give you a ride
00:02:08
at that time i thought my car was really
00:02:10
cool but looking back now it wasn't all
00:02:12
that however that doesn't make the
00:02:14
memory any less important to me another
00:02:16
one of my top memories is graduating
00:02:18
from high school the ceremony itself
00:02:20
wasn't anything special and i wasn't
00:02:22
necessarily proud of myself or anything
00:02:24
but i was just relieved to finally be
00:02:26
done and not only that but at that age i
00:02:29
had big dreams and lofty expectations
00:02:31
for my future so i was excited to
00:02:33
finally start that journey my life
00:02:35
didn't end up going as i'd planned it
00:02:36
but that doesn't matter the reason why
00:02:38
graduating from high school was such a
00:02:40
powerful memory for me is because i can
00:02:42
really remember that excitement that i
00:02:44
felt alright perhaps my favorite memory
00:02:46
of the past is the language exchange
00:02:48
program i did in mexico in 2013. this
00:02:51
was the first solo experience i'd ever
00:02:52
had in another country there wasn't
00:02:54
anything that could have prepared me for
00:02:56
this type of trip i went to a foreign
00:02:58
country without being able to speak the
00:02:59
language well and i stayed with an older
00:03:01
couple who didn't speak any english
00:03:03
needless to say i struggled big time
00:03:06
during those first couple days but
00:03:07
little by little i started to get my
00:03:09
bearings i made friends i learned
00:03:11
spanish and i even met my future wife
00:03:14
even today my wife and i love going back
00:03:16
to some of those old spots where we hung
00:03:18
out during my exchange program as you
00:03:20
can see i really enjoy reminiscing about
00:03:22
the past okay that's all for today
00:03:24
