line them up while you stick them

a shorter piece I have made and my

going to use to make a good seam so

sharpener so I do a little w4t on my

Crenshaw sharpener and if you guys want

we're doing what I like to do is cutting

look up the pieces I always like to have

a tip touch the table I like let the

blade do the work for example so I start

and slow and also when you're cutting to

keep your blade upright so you don't

turn so keep the edge at a 90 degree

I have the parts both over cut before I

glue these guys again we step on to the

next step of glue I like to heat preheat

my pieces so we're going to warm these

up get the heat gun out and kind of pre

curl these file foam pieces

all right okay they are they'll preheat

ready to go and get away from my glue

now this is the most crucial part it's
00:02:18
using my glue door here this is full of
00:02:22
like people always asking what's my glue
00:02:24
of choice it's barge cement now what
00:02:27
barge center is the particular kind of
00:02:29
paint paint I'm sorry glue that is it's
00:02:32
a contact adhesive there's a what
00:02:36
applying it to your phone what I like to
00:02:39
do is less is more when you're using
00:02:43
something like contact adhesive and the
00:02:46
glue is also described in its name it's
00:02:49
a contact adhesive so what it is you

don't just glue it tape together whole

board to dry it sticks together when you

apply the two surfaces together

I like to do is brush it on then I cut

I know I'm getting every spot of that

foam if you look closely you get every

part of the exposing raw foam and push

it down to its really thin just like

that and when you do that you'll get a

little excess on the side is fine your

stuff wipe it up with the foam but dumb

you want to make sure you get that on
00:03:29
nice and even no thick spots just nice

and thin right okay now both these parts

have been coated this is my first coat
00:03:37
now just for extra precaution I got this
00:03:40
thin coat on I kept it it's kind of dry
00:03:42
so what I do now as I apply a second
00:03:44
coat what this does is that this
00:03:46
guarantees in any of other thin spots
00:03:48
and and also to foam has a tendency to
00:03:51
suck up that first coat of fog glue you
00:03:53
put on there so I want to make sure I
00:03:54
get a really good seal on this I
00:03:56
definitely put a second coat on and that
00:03:59
just guarantees that you're going to win
00:04:01
the glue sticks to it it's gonna have a
00:04:03
good glue contact because sometimes that
00:04:05
first coat just gets soaking in by the
00:04:07
foam so once again with semi dry I go
00:04:11
back in and put my second coat on doing
00:04:13
the same process taking a piece of foam
00:04:15
and going really
00:04:16
thin and even make sure I get all those
00:04:18
edges now I have the glue on it you can
00:04:26
speed the process up by using a
00:04:28
hairdryer but what I like to use
00:04:29
sometimes is if you don't have any
00:04:31
because do the option of switching the
00:04:33
heat off your ear hair dryer and just
00:04:35
use air that works well too but I - says
00:04:39
heat only so I'm going to make sure to
00:04:40
do it but I don't like it too hot like
00:04:42
just kind of keep it at a distance so
00:04:43
just cuz I'm nice even dry to it okay
00:04:50
now that's dry I like to show you - if
00:04:55
you look at the glue it's kind of semi
00:04:57
glossy but also when you touch it it's
00:05:00
not which doesn't come off in your
00:05:01
finger and it's just tacky enough if you
00:05:03
still feel attack now you're good to go
00:05:05
so once again here's the crucial park

taking your seams line up you got to
00:05:11
make sure you get them lined up first so
00:05:13
while I can do is line them up like so

top edge flush my registration marks and

then like I like to cut my finger along

it to make sure they're lined up you see

it it's nice and flush once again like

use my fingers kind of like a dam or

Barama to stop it keep going slowly

still keeping it make sure you sparks

to go back at sand and all that kind of

stuff like so there is again very slowly

now get on there I take my finger and

kind of push on the scene kind of push

on itself to make sure it sticks really

well alright that's the first part there

there's going to be a little bit of a

scene here so what I like to do

want to work the whole area I just like

to work the scene and the sanding stick

just doing the edge going back and forth

all right now it's a 20 and now I got me

a couple of water here foreigner good

sandpaper this is my little final pass

in the scanner this will really get rid

of the fuzz and the texture on the phone

right there it is now it's all dry I

went through with my 400 sandpaper and

wet sand all this down and now it's

really smooth it'll be a little bit of a

fuzz left there but if I look closely I

can still see a little bit of seems a
00:07:39
little bit of an air bubble over here so
00:07:40
I like to do the patch with is quick
00:07:45
seal now this is a caulking compound and
00:07:48
when they call quick seal they're not
00:07:49
kidding this because this does dry
00:07:50
quickly but what I like to do is apply
00:07:54
very little because you know I'm just
00:07:56
going to go ahead and just put a little
00:07:59
in the scene so I'm just going to put a
00:08:01
little bit on the edge here like so now
00:08:06
I have an old razor blade and that's why
00:08:10
you use like this therefore this goes
00:08:11
directly to where I wanted to go less is
00:08:14
more I don't want to use too much of
00:08:15
this stuff I just want to fill in the
00:08:16
scene so I'm just gently go over this
00:08:21
guy and the trick is to one thing with
00:08:23
quick seal to you cannot go back and say
00:08:26
in this this is a flexible compound when
00:08:27
it dries it's flexible but it does knots
00:08:30
and there's other people out there I'd
00:08:32
like to use a pretty good caulking that
00:08:34
they can go back and stand on top of my
00:08:36
philosophies always trying to make your
00:08:38
part as clean as you can so there's like
00:08:41
virtually a little work you have to do
00:08:43
to it so just going to do that on just
00:08:48
on the hairline seen just a little bit
00:08:50
so

is it all filled in now that I have my
00:08:58
seam sealed up with this I like to take

a cup of water what my finger just got
00:09:03
better the edges because this residue

just trying to minimize it just kind of
00:09:10
bring it down a little bit this stuff

goes really good the thing is the reason
00:09:13
I call it you do this one do this really
00:09:15
quick because you wait too long in the
00:09:16
stuff it gets gunking you'll drop on
00:09:19
yourself while it's still relatively wet

like take off a little bit of a wet

finger here and just kind of smooth it

out and it's safe because it's all
00:09:28
acrylic based there you go let's speed

up the drying process

good old hairdryer alright now that's

your eye what I like to do because some

of the deeper holes once you do this

this stuff shrinks a little bit so once
00:09:44
again I like to just do one more pass on

it and do a this is kind of like because

it's going to shrink a little bit in

spot size can I prevent that from

happening let's put one more coat on

again a little wet finger on this guy

again this is smooth the edges of it

okay round two with the hairdryer

alright now this is my second coat with
00:10:13
the quick seal went ahead got it nice

dry I'm going to go and seal the foam

now all of people are thinking once you
00:10:22
sandal this and get it hold back in heat
00:10:25
seal it and the answer is no do not
00:10:27
because if you go to hit put heat back
00:10:29
on this all that work you've done on the
00:10:31
seam will just open right back up
00:10:33
there's probably a little weird spots

are not glued around and perfected you
00:10:37
put a heat gun to this the sealant to
00:10:39
kind of seal it it's just going to open
00:10:41
things back up so once your heat seal it
00:10:43
and you do all this that's it no more
00:10:45
heat so what I do the seal it now it's
00:10:49
got my old modge podge and a sponge
00:10:50
brush here and I'm definitely put tool

tip on this but for the base coat I want

to definitely do a modge podge because

it says I'm not going to hit it with a
00:10:59
heat gun to seal it I still want to seal

the foam

just give it a basic thin coat to close

off the foam

so we're just good to a nice thin coat

the much punch okay got my one thin coat

of Mod Podge because I can speed up a

little bit with my hairdryer alright

there it is the Mod Podge is all nice

and dry and seal it up and ready to go

now my next step is plastic depth tada

there it is look at that you what you're

looking at is four coats of plastic dip

and if you look it's almost invisible I

can barely see it I mean grant if you

look closely but it's got a nice sheen

to it and on this particular part

granted I could have put more parts on

it for a shoulder piece but I didn't

want to do that this particular video

because I wanted to show you guys the

smoothness and what you can do by with

sanding so I got this guy and so my next

step after this is I'm going to take the

Australian primer give a thin coating of

that and then once that dries let me go

back in with some Montana Orange think a
00:11:59
butter color will be interesting to see

what this looks like once it's all

painted right so let's do that

and there it is tada
