En 1972 Willie Colón, por primera vez adquiere el rango de coproductor junto a Jerry Masucci en el LP El juicio (Fania), el diseño de la carátula estuvo a cargo de Izzy Sanabria y la misma consiste de dos dibujos. En la carátula se quería ambientar un juicio y cómo en los juicios no se permitían fotógrafos y sí a dibujantes contrataron a Aggie Whelan dibujante que trabajaba para el Departamento de Justicia de Washington. La carátula y su contraportada presentan dos caras del juicio; en la portada Willie aparece testificando, y con gesto de imploración pues aparentemente está siendo juzgado por todas las fechorías musicales cometidas en sus discos previos. El jurado está compuesto por los músicos de su banda quienes muestran una actitud de indiferencia, incluso uno de ellos está dormido ante los alegatos de Colón y otro gesticula con su mano izquierda el signo que todo está bien (OK). El dactilógrafo es Jerry Masucci quien está compenetrado en su tarea y nada más. Héctor funge como el juez cuya mano tiene el gesto de impaciencia, como quien dice: acaba ya. El título del disco aparece detrás del estrado prácticamente ilegible. La contraportada nos muestra que el juicio está amañado pues los miembros del jurado, el alguacil, el fiscal y el juez están secuestrados en el salón del jurado y aparece un letrero indicando que “court in session”. Además, en la parte superior izquierda se identifica el artista principal, el título del disco y el cantante. En la parte superior central los músicos que participaron en la grabación y el instrumento que ejecutaban y los temas del lado A y lado B del LP.
