В шестнадцатом-семнадцатом веках в Поварской слободе( так тогда называлась улица и прилегающие к ней переулки- Столовый, Скатертный , Хлебный) проживали все те, кто нёс службу на царской кухне. Да, еще опричники Ивана Грозного, ведь Поварская была оживленным новгородским трактом. Начнём экскурсию с легендарного ресторана Прага, открытого в 1872 году.Когда-то ресторан был первым номером по Улице Поварской. После революции Прага превратилась в столовую треста Моссельпром! Храм семнадцатого века Симеона Столпника. В церкви когда-то тайно венчались крепостная актриса Прасковья Жемчугова с графом Шереметьевым. В последние годы жизни прихожанином был живший недалеко Николай Гоголь. Вся Поварская улица застраивается усадьбами аристократов Гагариных, Голицыных, Барятинских, Волконских, Долгоруковых… Сейчас во многих особняках – посольства. Например, в усадьбе Грачёва – Норвегии, а в Казакова- Дункер- Цетлина- Кипра. В городской усадьбе Блудова по адресу Поварская 15 –Верховный суд Российской Федерации. Двухсотлетний вяз, которым любовался Иван Бунин, к сожалению, тоже не сохранился. А мы продолжим экскурсию и обратим внимание на здание 25а - усадьбу Гагариных. Главный дом построен в стиле ампир по заказу директора императорских театров князя Гагарина, большого любителя лошадей. В 20-е годы в нём открыли кавалерийское училище, а в 1937 году - Литературный институт им. Горького. Во дворе института - ещё одна знаменитая скульптура Веры Мухиной ( после рабочего и колхозницы конечно) «Буревестник революции». А вот дом Л.Орлова. В девятнадцатом веке дом принадлежал Шереметьевым. В роскошных залах этого особняка Александром Пушкиным впервые была прочитана поэма «Полтава»! И вот, наконец наша экскурсия подошла к усадьбе на Поварской 52! Именно в этот жёлтый дом с шестью колоннами поселил ЛЕВ Николаевич Толстой героиню романа « Война и мир» - юную графиню Наташу Ростову. В самом доме в 1920 году организовали «Дворец искусств», в котором выступали Борис Пастернак,Алексей Толстой, Есенин, Цветаева. Одно время жил в особняке академик Анатолий Луначарский, поэт Роберт Рождественский.
