00:00:07
if you're like me and enjoy collecting
00:00:09
photo cards is an artist or a hobby
00:00:11
collector that want to make their own
00:00:13
this is just an alternative cheaper way
00:00:14
to make photo cards at home or if you
00:00:16
want to start selling them in artist
00:00:21
alley hi I'm Carla or better known as
00:00:25
goopy I'm an illustrator and artist and
00:00:27
I specialize in creating fun and cool
00:00:29
things
00:00:30
so just a quick disclaimer um I'm not a
00:00:34
professional I'm just an artist and a
00:00:36
hobbyist so some resources do require
00:00:40
that you might need a printer or a
00:00:41
cutter to be able to make these like
00:00:43
photo cards at home but don't worry if
00:00:45
those are not at your disposal I also
00:00:47
researched a couple other affordable
00:00:49
options that you can still print outside
00:00:52
so you can still create these at
00:00:53
home there are numerous types of photo
00:00:56
card qualities that you're going to find
00:00:58
when you collect um um most of these
00:01:01
unfortunately are going to be made and
00:01:04
printed with high quality or high- grade
00:01:06
machines so they're more made for
00:01:08
industrial types of quantities so
00:01:10
definitely they'll have resources to
00:01:12
better papers and better lamination
00:01:14
types so I definitely recommend finding
00:01:17
local printers or researching online
00:01:19
those that are able to print more custom
00:01:21
photo cards for you because for you to
00:01:24
be able to make these at home the
00:01:25
quality is going to be definitely higher
00:01:27
and more difficult to achieve because of
00:01:29
the L ation and just the paper
00:01:32
type you'll also notice as well that
00:01:35
some photo cards are going to be more
00:01:37
thicker than others and some are going
00:01:39
to be more flimsy and cheaper in quality
00:01:42
so that really just depends in what kind
00:01:44
of material or quality that you're
00:01:46
looking for again like PVC Lomo cards or
00:01:51
any of the other types of photo quality
00:01:54
are more highly achievable by high high
00:01:57
industrial machines so the quality that
00:02:00
you're going to be able to achieve at
00:02:01
home might be different depending on the
00:02:03
paper and the lamination that you're
00:02:04
going to be able to
00:02:06
[Music]
00:02:09
use if you are looking to make higher
00:02:12
quality photo cards that are not
00:02:15
achievable by printing them at home you
00:02:17
can actually find a few resources online
00:02:19
where they're already pre-cut and
00:02:20
laminated all you have to do is upload
00:02:22
your artwork so some examples are
00:02:25
moo.com which prints already business
00:02:28
cards uh fard cards and there to have
00:02:30
access to different types of papers and
00:02:32
materials as well uh depending on your
00:02:35
price range um there's also Visa print
00:02:38
which does business cards and different
00:02:40
types of card quality types rounded
00:02:43
Corners squares sizes you name it so
00:02:47
again these are more professional
00:02:48
quality if you're looking to make photo
00:02:50
cards um another resource that I know a
00:02:53
lot of people use is B Grace so they
00:02:56
also offer tarot cards or custom game
00:02:59
cards which is basically the same as the
00:03:01
holographic photo cards that you find um
00:03:04
this is very good if you want to have a
00:03:07
higher quantity of photo cards uh they
00:03:09
cut and laminate them for you and they
00:03:11
also tell you the price and size so
00:03:14
again if um I haven't been able to test
00:03:16
these myself but I've seen other
00:03:18
hobbyists and artists that use them uh
00:03:21
as their resources uh and they've
00:03:22
reviewed that they're really good and
00:03:24
decent quality so if you don't want to
00:03:25
make them at home I definitely recommend
00:03:27
looking these places up vog GR Vista
00:03:30
Print and moo are good resources because
00:03:33
they have a certain amount of quantity
00:03:36
uh that you can order I believe vog
00:03:38
Grace has the lowest mq which is I don't
00:03:42
know what that stands
00:03:43
for uh they have a low order requirement
00:03:47
so you can order as low as 10 pieces per
00:03:50
order compared to probably disint or
00:03:53
move which will require you to order at
00:03:55
least 25 to 50 pieces so if you're
00:03:57
looking to make an even lower amount
00:04:00
um vcar might be a better choice for you
00:04:03
uh they also give you different types of
00:04:05
materials already that you can use to
00:04:08
coat your photo cards so you can do
00:04:11
plain holographic matte glossy and they
00:04:15
probably provide the more industrial
00:04:17
quality types of laminate and cuts uh
00:04:20
that you can't achieve at home but again
00:04:23
I'm going to give you a tutorial on how
00:04:24
to do these as well it won't be as high
00:04:27
quality but still pretty close here are
00:04:30
just some photo cards that I've made
00:04:32
myself um as a honkai sto fan I wanted
00:04:35
to make my own photo cards at home at a
00:04:37
low cost and test out my own printing so
00:04:41
I use actually different paper types but
00:04:43
please remember that you need to have
00:04:45
double-sided photo paper so in order to
00:04:48
be able to print on both sides so you
00:04:50
can tell that one is thicker than the
00:04:52
other this one is using a much thicker
00:04:56
uh card stock paper versus this one is
00:04:58
more flimsy it's a thinner paper so you
00:05:00
can tell that it's already bending but
00:05:03
for the quality itself the image is
00:05:05
still really high quality and I like it
00:05:07
so I don't mind that much of the
00:05:09
thickness but I do like both qualities
00:05:12
as
00:05:17
well so what fit my budget the most was
00:05:20
the koala double-sided matte photo paper
00:05:24
and you can tell that one is more
00:05:25
offwhite than the other but the quality
00:05:28
for vibrancy is still pretty much the
00:05:30
same because you're going to be printing
00:05:31
on it really it just depends on if you
00:05:34
have more white color and if you want it
00:05:35
to be more accurate but I print on both
00:05:38
sides and you can still tell that the
00:05:40
image is still very vibrant and really
00:05:41
clear so again that just depends on your
00:05:44
inkjet printer um and another thing to
00:05:47
note is that the koala paper is going to
00:05:50
be in 48 lb or 180 GS uh that just
00:05:54
basically tells you the thickness and
00:05:56
the weight of the paper so notice that
00:05:58
this one is more flimsy it's thinner so
00:06:01
obviously when you're going to laminate
00:06:03
it and create smaller photo cards uh it
00:06:05
tends to warp on my my end so they do
00:06:08
Bend just a little bit but it's not
00:06:10
enough for me to be like that this is a
00:06:12
bad photo card or paper I think the
00:06:15
quality is still really good even though
00:06:17
it's thinner and then for higher quality
00:06:20
I definitely recommend Red River paper
00:06:22
in Aurora art natural 300 uh they have
00:06:25
other paper types as well so if you
00:06:27
prefer a different whiteness or thick
00:06:30
um they have a whole online selection
00:06:32
for you to pick from uh but I really
00:06:34
enjoyed these uh I tend to actually use
00:06:37
these as my print paper and I realized
00:06:41
that they're double-sided that you can
00:06:43
print on both sides so I thought oh I
00:06:45
could print photo cards on these and
00:06:47
they're definitely much thicker so these
00:06:49
don't warp or bend as easily as the
00:06:52
koala paper and they're much thicker and
00:06:54
have the same I'd say thickness and
00:06:56
quality as real photo cards after you
00:06:58
laminate them um but again these ones
00:07:00
are more expensive for my wallet even
00:07:03
though they're nice um but definitely if
00:07:06
you're interested in Red River they have
00:07:08
their own website and the koala has
00:07:10
their own website but you can also
00:07:11
access them on
00:07:13
Amazon so the printer that I own is an
00:07:17
Epson eot Tang
00:07:19
8550 and this is just actually the
00:07:22
larger size compared to the
00:07:25
8500 um but basically if you have a ink
00:07:29
printer then you should be able to
00:07:31
handle printing card stock and any types
00:07:33
of photo
00:07:35
paper so I'm just going to be loading my
00:07:37
two different types of photo paper into
00:07:39
the rear feeder of my printer so I have
00:07:42
both the koala and the Red River uh
00:07:45
natural so these are just going to go in
00:07:54
here and then now it's ready to be
00:07:58
printed
00:08:02
okay let's get into setting up your
00:08:04
photo cards onto the template so you can
00:08:07
find a lot of photo card templates
00:08:09
online and many are available for free
00:08:12
normally you can search up K-pop
00:08:13
specific printable templates which fans
00:08:15
use to print their own photo cards um I
00:08:18
made my own simply because I just wanted
00:08:20
to maximize the space on one sheet that
00:08:22
I can print at home uh I also made this
00:08:24
template available on my gumroad for
00:08:26
free which you can find in the
00:08:28
description below you're also welcome to
00:08:30
donate any amount you want uh if you
00:08:31
just enjoy the template or the content
00:08:33
that I'm providing so basically in this
00:08:36
template I did not account for bleed
00:08:38
Cuts so these are going to be exact 2.5
00:08:42
3.5 in uh normally bleed print will add
00:08:45
a few extra uh
00:08:48
0.25 to 0.75 in to the photo card so
00:08:52
imagine if these were extended uh to the
00:08:54
prints so that they're still able to cut
00:08:57
the edges without leaving a border um I
00:08:59
would just be aware of this when
00:09:00
printing to not leave any important
00:09:02
details or text on the edges of your
00:09:04
photo or artwork uh when placing your
00:09:07
image on the template if you're also
00:09:09
okay with cutting directly on the edge
00:09:11
of the photo then this template's usable
00:09:14
again I made this at home to fit my
00:09:16
needs you're welcome to adjust it
00:09:18
accordingly to what fits your photos
00:09:20
best um but maybe in the future I'll try
00:09:22
to update the template to include bleed
00:09:24
Cuts so anyway what you want to do is
00:09:27
you want to place your photos into the
00:09:29
template in separate layers so we're
00:09:31
just going to add our new photos in here
00:09:34
so I have a honkai star real artwork
00:09:37
this is Sunday and I want to put him
00:09:41
into the template in here and what I
00:09:45
have is separate layers so I'm going to
00:09:48
move Sunday under so that I know where
00:09:50
he's going to get cut and resize it
00:09:53
according to the template so I always
00:09:55
try to go a little bit over the edge so
00:09:57
that I won't have extra borders uh
00:09:59
around the artwork so here you can just
00:10:02
zoom in as well to make sure that
00:10:05
nothing else important is cut off and I
00:10:07
see that he fits in here so that's cool
00:10:10
and all I do here is just duplicate the
00:10:12
layer hold shift so that you can move
00:10:15
the artwork over without you know
00:10:18
separate like yeah it'll slide
00:10:21
over and you just do the same here
00:10:25
again so you can do different photos I
00:10:28
did I have other artwork as well that
00:10:31
you can put um here's
00:10:35
another star real photo so I'll paste
00:10:39
him here
00:10:41
again and just resize it to however you
00:10:45
want it without the borders getting
00:10:49
cut there you go all I do is just shift
00:10:53
them over so that they fit under the
00:10:58
template
00:11:01
and just copy and paste
00:11:05
these over here perfect okay so now you
00:11:09
can see if you zoom in that all the
00:11:11
artwork are straight to the edge so
00:11:13
that's good um and also in the template
00:11:17
as well included black or white because
00:11:20
obviously when you print it um you want
00:11:23
it you probably want it white just so
00:11:24
you were able to cut the borders black
00:11:27
will probably use more ink anyway so I
00:11:29
just included that as like a visual
00:11:31
reference you're welcome to print both
00:11:33
whatever suits your fancy so now that
00:11:36
this is finished I'm just going to go
00:11:37
ahead and save this so you can export it
00:11:40
as a JPEG or PNG uh I just like to do
00:11:43
PNG cuz it's just a higher quality for
00:11:46
me so there's your front side that
00:11:48
you're going to be able to
00:11:50
print all right so now that you have
00:11:53
your front photo card set up um if
00:11:55
you're just going to be printing the
00:11:56
front then you don't have to worry about
00:11:58
setting up the back but if you are just
00:12:01
remember that it's going to be flipped
00:12:04
when you print it out so remember that
00:12:07
the artwork on this side when it comes
00:12:09
out then you flip it the back side is
00:12:11
going to match to the one on the
00:12:12
opposite side so here I just have um the
00:12:17
back designs for my artwork so what I'm
00:12:21
just going to do here is that I'm going
00:12:23
to paste it again so I created separate
00:12:26
folders um for the back and front design
00:12:29
just so I know which page I'm on um and
00:12:32
what I'm just going to do here is that
00:12:35
Sunday is going to match with Sunday so
00:12:37
I'm just going to again adjust these
00:12:40
artwork images to match which character
00:12:43
they are and I'm going to do that for
00:12:46
all of the nine photo cards on my
00:12:49
page and I'll show you again when I
00:12:52
print it out so you know what I mean
00:12:54
when you flip it that the back has to
00:12:56
match the front
00:12:57
side
00:13:00
probably a better setup to understand uh
00:13:03
the backside of photo card printing so
00:13:06
here on this page I have nine different
00:13:08
characters and again if you're just
00:13:10
printing the front then you're okay but
00:13:13
if you're going to be setting up the
00:13:14
back to match the characters on the
00:13:16
front just know that it is flipped so
00:13:19
when you set them up they're going to be
00:13:21
on opposite sides so as you can see here
00:13:23
I have dun hung but dun hung is going to
00:13:26
be printed on the right side so I switch
00:13:28
s the spot that he's in and same goes
00:13:31
for sample sample is on this side so
00:13:34
obviously when you flip him he's going
00:13:35
to be here on the back side to match him
00:13:38
and again I'll show you this when I
00:13:40
printed out so that you can see that
00:13:42
they should match what is printed on the
00:13:50
sheet okay so now that your paper is
00:13:53
loaded onto your printer uh in terms of
00:13:55
print settings um I will show you right
00:13:58
here
00:13:59
so we're going to be printing the front
00:14:01
side of the photo
00:14:04
cards so um once you click print you're
00:14:08
just going to go into the default
00:14:10
options of whatever your computer has
00:14:12
set up to and you're going to go into
00:14:13
printer properties so here I just have
00:14:17
the preset so I want to make sure that's
00:14:20
going to take the paper from the back so
00:14:22
I have it set to rear and then you want
00:14:24
to set your size so we have the basic
00:14:27
document letter 8.5 by1
00:14:29
and don't forget to set your printer
00:14:31
settings to borderless this is going to
00:14:33
maximize the cards and make sure that
00:14:35
the printer itself doesn't add a border
00:14:38
cuz otherwise your cards will shrink to
00:14:40
a different size if you're okay with
00:14:42
that that's fine just leave it off um
00:14:44
but for me I want to do it borderless so
00:14:46
I can maximize the print size page um
00:14:49
make sure to set it to Portrait and the
00:14:51
paper setting type that I like to use is
00:14:54
premium presentation paper matte uh you
00:14:56
can also use presentation paper paper
00:14:58
mat um other people recommend printing
00:15:01
on photo paper um premium paper photo
00:15:04
paper but these are for glossy so just
00:15:07
make sure that you know what type of
00:15:09
printer settings or printer paper that's
00:15:11
most compatible with you and you're
00:15:13
going to set it to high so if it's
00:15:15
standard it's going to print faster but
00:15:17
if you set it to high it's going to take
00:15:19
its time to print to make sure that the
00:15:21
quality and the details are very vibrant
00:15:24
and as well I also uh check the color
00:15:28
option s so when I print my prints and
00:15:32
my photo cards I increase the saturation
00:15:35
and brightness uh this just makes the
00:15:37
colors pop way more uh you have to take
00:15:40
into account that your photo cards are
00:15:42
going to be laminated so the lamination
00:15:45
does have some film that will make it
00:15:48
less vibrant so if you print on a higher
00:15:51
saturation and then laminate your photo
00:15:53
cards uh it should come out to semi the
00:15:57
correct color of what you want it to
00:15:58
come too again it's up to you how you
00:16:00
want to set your colors and preferences
00:16:03
but these are just the settings for mine
00:16:05
so I leave it at five brightness three
00:16:08
contrast five saturation and two density
00:16:10
this is just me playing around with my
00:16:12
paper sometimes I do like to up the
00:16:15
brightness and saturation more when I
00:16:17
have really dark photo carts so I might
00:16:20
want to kick up the brightness a notch
00:16:22
just so the ink is not so dark when it
00:16:24
prints out um but that yeah that's
00:16:27
pretty much it so I leave it at that and
00:16:30
once you're ready you're just going to
00:16:31
be printing oh and make sure to also do
00:16:34
bir directional printing so in this
00:16:37
setting uh this is how you're going to
00:16:38
be flipping your artwork in the top side
00:16:42
uh so that the back aligns uh with the
00:16:44
artwork as well all right so now that
00:16:47
it's ready just go ahead and hit print
00:16:49
and it's going to go to your
00:16:53
printer all right now that it's done
00:16:55
printing you can pull it out and see the
00:16:58
the vibrancy that for the quality of the
00:17:01
printer paper this is the koala printer
00:17:04
paper so you can see that it's super
00:17:07
vibrant I like the quality and it's dark
00:17:11
but remember that this is going to be
00:17:12
laminated and what I like to do as well
00:17:15
since it just came out of the printer is
00:17:16
that um I want to put it on something
00:17:19
flat just because when it's wet it'll
00:17:21
warp so it's not going to stay
00:17:23
completely flat um make sure to take it
00:17:25
out of the printer bed but for me since
00:17:29
you know I still have to print the other
00:17:30
side what you want to do is when you're
00:17:33
going to feed it it comes out this way
00:17:35
you're just going to flip it in that
00:17:36
same bir directional printing so now the
00:17:39
back will still align to whatever
00:17:41
artwork you have on the
00:17:45
front so I'm just going to load it there
00:17:47
and then print on the
00:17:53
back all right and now that it's done
00:17:56
printing you're just going to take it
00:17:57
out and you can see that the artwork is
00:18:01
aligned with the back side as well so we
00:18:04
have sunde on the top adventuring in the
00:18:06
middle and sun again on the bottom and
00:18:09
that th line on the
00:18:16
back all right now I'm just going to
00:18:17
show my typical lamination process so
00:18:20
again you're going to be wanting to
00:18:22
laminate the front and the back of your
00:18:23
photo card to get that glossy or Hollow
00:18:26
finish on both sides so this is just a
00:18:29
sample of what it's going to look like
00:18:31
after it's cut and these are the linat
00:18:34
that I have so for our photo cards I
00:18:37
have the Avery um this is the self
00:18:41
adhesive laminating sheets and they come
00:18:44
in 50 packs on Amazon um I think it's
00:18:47
affordable enough you can also get the
00:18:48
rolls or an off brand as long as it's
00:18:51
glossy matte Holo whatever you prefer
00:18:54
and then I also use the blader blader oh
00:18:58
gosh sorry if I butcher it uh I use
00:19:00
blader Holo laminate sheets so I just
00:19:03
use the case for the Avery but these are
00:19:06
going to come in Hollow laminate and
00:19:08
you're going to be able to apply these
00:19:09
as
00:19:10
well there's a ton of Hol laminate um
00:19:13
resources online you're welcome to
00:19:16
choose whichever one you want these are
00:19:17
just the ones that I choose that I found
00:19:19
affordable and the quality suits that my
00:19:21
tastes so what you want to do here is
00:19:24
that you're going to pull back the tab
00:19:26
just so you have a little bit of
00:19:28
laminate peeled
00:19:32
back just like that and we're going to
00:19:36
peel just a little bit
00:19:38
back just so we have a pull tab and what
00:19:41
I like to do is I like to cut this part
00:19:50
off there you
00:19:53
go so now you have a part of the section
00:19:57
of the laminate um revealed and what
00:20:00
you're going to do is you're going to
00:20:02
just lay your your photo paper on a flat
00:20:06
surface right here make sure there's no
00:20:09
dust um because again we're going to be
00:20:11
laminating so we don't want any dust to
00:20:13
be showing up underneath your laminate
00:20:16
and what I like to do is make sure that
00:20:19
you align part of the laminate that can
00:20:22
be
00:20:25
seen to the table so so you're going to
00:20:30
align it and again because my template
00:20:33
is maximized you're definitely going to
00:20:35
have parts that won't be laminated um
00:20:38
maybe in the future I'll make a better
00:20:39
laminate but or better template but for
00:20:42
now this is just my at home quality so
00:20:47
you're going to align to make sure some
00:20:49
of the laminate applies to the photo
00:20:51
paper and to the
00:20:52
table and what I also like to use is
00:20:55
that you can get a felt squeegee you you
00:20:58
can also uh use a roller or a ruler just
00:21:01
to make sure you have a flat Edge
00:21:03
surface and you're just going to align
00:21:05
it here to make sure that the lemon it
00:21:09
is secured onto the table and to the
00:21:11
photo paper and then what you're going
00:21:13
to do is peel this back right here and
00:21:17
roll it a little bit so now this becomes
00:21:19
your pull tab and you're going to flip
00:21:22
the laminate up right
00:21:24
here and put your squeegee underneath
00:21:28
and all you have to do is push so you
00:21:29
want to do this
00:21:31
quickly just like that so now that it's
00:21:34
aligned all you have to do is flatten
00:21:36
out your lemon
00:21:39
it and there you
00:21:42
go and this is what I mean by having a
00:21:45
clean surface sometimes you'll have dog
00:21:48
hair if you have pets just make sure you
00:21:50
don't have any hair underneath and
00:21:53
sometimes you're going to get wrinkles
00:21:55
so sometimes when you apply lamin it
00:21:57
it's not going to going to be perfect
00:21:59
that's okay so these ones will just be
00:22:01
bgrade for
00:22:04
me and then since we're laminating the
00:22:06
backside I like to just trim the excess
00:22:09
lamin it off of the sheet uh this just
00:22:12
helps so it doesn't rtick to the
00:22:14
laminate that we're going to apply on
00:22:15
the
00:22:16
back and then we're also going to trim
00:22:18
off the excess
00:22:26
here all right there go and then you can
00:22:29
see that the laminate size is not going
00:22:31
to apply completely uh you can find
00:22:34
bigger laminate but this is just the one
00:22:36
that I have and it's going to be cut off
00:22:38
anyway so that's okay and now we're
00:22:40
going to apply laminate on the back
00:22:45
side so the nice thing about the Avery
00:22:48
sheets is they're actually a little bit
00:22:50
bigger than the letter size so for sure
00:22:52
it'll cover the photo paper you can use
00:22:55
Avery on both sides I just like to have
00:22:57
a hollow on the front front and we don't
00:22:59
have to cut this which is nice cuz they
00:23:01
already have a pull tab for you so you
00:23:03
just have to peel this off right
00:23:06
here and then we're just going to do the
00:23:08
same thing again so align your photo
00:23:11
paper and your laminate sheet with the
00:23:14
peeking laminate out make sure you just
00:23:17
align
00:23:18
it to the table and the photo
00:23:22
paper then use your squeegee right
00:23:25
here make sure it's stuck and then all
00:23:28
you have to do is pull back again just
00:23:29
like last time so you're going to push
00:23:32
just a little bit to make sure some of
00:23:33
the laminate is
00:23:35
pullable just like
00:23:37
that and then all you're going to do is
00:23:40
put your squeegee underneath and push
00:23:43
and just like that it will apply
00:23:47
evenly then flatten it
00:23:51
out and that's
00:23:56
it so now you have a laminated on both
00:24:00
sides photo cards that we can now
00:24:03
cut please note again that when you're
00:24:06
making photo cards at home you're bound
00:24:08
to have mistake copies so here I
00:24:11
accidentally ripped off too much of the
00:24:13
laminate and I'll have more like ripoffs
00:24:15
right here and sometimes I'll apply the
00:24:18
laminate incorrectly so we're going to
00:24:19
have bends that we just can't take out
00:24:22
uh that's just part of you know you're
00:24:24
going to have mistakes when you print at
00:24:25
home and if you don't want to make
00:24:28
mistakes or just rather a professional
00:24:31
will handle it I recommend just
00:24:32
Outsourcing it but again this is just
00:24:35
you know another way for you to make
00:24:36
lower quantity copies at
00:24:39
home so how I usually cut these you can
00:24:41
also just use a scissor if you don't
00:24:43
have a cutter um I actually have a slide
00:24:46
cutter or an straight edge cutter uh
00:24:49
that A friend gave me but you can find
00:24:50
these anywhere on Amazon or Walmart um
00:24:54
and all I do is that I align the photo
00:24:56
cards here so that I'm able able to cut
00:24:58
the edges off um one thing to note
00:25:01
though is that you want to make sure
00:25:04
that your edges are aligned straight so
00:25:06
that when you cut it um it will cut
00:25:12
evenly so notice that here is the cut
00:25:15
line and this is where I want to align
00:25:17
it to so obviously this is where bleed
00:25:19
comes in mine are all the way to the
00:25:22
edge so if you want to use a template
00:25:24
with bleed so that you can cut a little
00:25:26
bit over the artwork work uh that's just
00:25:28
an easier way um but here I do go a
00:25:32
little bit over just so I don't get a
00:25:34
white border on the cuts of my photo
00:25:36
cards and all you have to do is just cut
00:25:39
so just straight like that and then now
00:25:41
you have a perfect straight edge cut on
00:25:43
your photo
00:25:44
cards and I just do the same for all the
00:25:46
edges so here you can see that there is
00:25:49
some white Edge and I want to cut that
00:25:51
off so I'll just cut that here I'll go a
00:25:53
little bit past the artwork and then
00:25:55
just
00:25:56
cut
00:26:03
obviously again trim accordingly to how
00:26:06
you want your photo cards to be and just
00:26:08
do the same
00:26:10
for and then how I achieve these round
00:26:14
Edge Corner Cuts is that I actually have
00:26:17
a round Edge Corner cutter you can also
00:26:20
get this on Amazon or anywhere online um
00:26:23
but basically this is able to cut the
00:26:25
corner edges of your photos or paper
00:26:28
and all you do is use that size and now
00:26:30
you have a corner cut so I just do that
00:26:33
for all my photo
00:26:34
cards like
00:26:38
this and now you have a round Edge cut
00:26:41
photo
00:26:42
card so what I have here is a hot
00:26:45
laminator if you want to take a step
00:26:47
ahead on your cards to make sure that
00:26:49
they're perfectly laminated and get rid
00:26:52
of any of those lamination bubbles
00:26:54
because you're using cold laminate um
00:26:58
mine is pretty old as you can see here
00:27:01
I've had mine since
00:27:04
2011 but this is just um you can find
00:27:08
scotch laminators in Walmart and Amazon
00:27:10
as well as online they're not super
00:27:13
expensive but I'm pretty sure if you
00:27:14
want to find you know any higher quality
00:27:17
cold and hot setting laminates they're
00:27:20
probably going to be a little bit more
00:27:21
expensive it gets the job done if you
00:27:23
just want to laminate any um laminated
00:27:26
Goods so you can see here that it is
00:27:30
compatible with 3 ml and 5 mil which is
00:27:35
just the thickness of plastic that it's
00:27:38
able to take in um I'm not sure what the
00:27:41
mill would be for the photo cards that
00:27:43
were feeding because it depends on the
00:27:44
thickness of your paper as well but
00:27:47
since both the front and the back side
00:27:49
are laminated uh it should be able to
00:27:51
handle it again this is really old it's
00:27:53
a hot thermal lamin hot thermal
00:27:56
laminator but it gets the job done if
00:27:58
you just want to melt the
00:28:03
plastic and put it on so the hard part
00:28:06
about this laminator is that it takes a
00:28:08
lot of heat up because it is a hot
00:28:10
laminator just to show you that photo
00:28:13
cards after they get laminated just know
00:28:16
that it is heated up so they will start
00:28:19
to warp um and that's just part of it
00:28:21
compared to if it's just cold laminate
00:28:23
you can see that it hasn't warped yet um
00:28:26
I don't know if you can see it
00:28:29
but after it's laminated you're not
00:28:31
going to have bubbles but before it's
00:28:35
laminated it's not completely applied
00:28:38
onto the artwork um the nice thing about
00:28:41
the hot laminator is that it's going to
00:28:43
melt that plastic to fill in all of the
00:28:45
papers here's just an example of a
00:28:48
laminated photo card versus a
00:28:49
non-laminated photo card I'm not sure if
00:28:52
you can really tell but when it's not
00:28:54
laminated it's a little bit blurry and
00:28:57
the artwork is just not going to be as
00:28:59
clear versus when it is laminated you
00:29:01
can see that the green pops out way more
00:29:03
again it's a very subtle difference but
00:29:06
if it's something that you want to take
00:29:07
a step further you're welcome to
00:29:08
Lemonade then my lemonator gets pretty
00:29:12
hot so sometimes I don't wait for it to
00:29:15
actually be completely ready and it's
00:29:17
ready to be fed into there because again
00:29:19
I'm just laminating small photo cards
00:29:21
and not a full pouch I'm okay with it
00:29:24
not being completely hot so all you got
00:29:26
to do is just toss these cards in from
00:29:28
the back feeder and there's a roller
00:29:31
already inside uh to make sure that the
00:29:33
cards come out so you just toss them in
00:29:37
[Music]
00:29:39
here and make sure that when you take it
00:29:42
out again you can see that the quality
00:29:44
is much better and the artwork is more
00:29:46
clearer uh when I take it out because
00:29:48
it's hot and the paper is going to warp
00:29:51
I try to take something heavy like this
00:29:53
acrylic block of Jim and put it onto top
00:29:57
of the photo card so that when it cools
00:30:01
down it cools down
00:30:03
flat so I just do that for all of my
00:30:06
photo cards just anything heavy and
00:30:09
flat this is the thicker um Aurora paper
00:30:13
that I showed earlier you can also feed
00:30:15
this into the thermal laminator since it
00:30:18
can handle up to 5 mil and this is the
00:30:21
one where I haven't laminated the back
00:30:22
yet so if you can see the the plastic
00:30:27
white dots in the back where it's not
00:30:29
completely applied so if you toss this
00:30:31
in
00:30:33
here if you toss this in here you can
00:30:36
see that now we don't get those same
00:30:39
dots I got laminated and now that you
00:30:42
have the photo card or the plastic more
00:30:46
directly applied to the
00:30:48
paper I hope this tutorial helped you
00:30:51
and these are just how I make my photo
00:30:53
cards at home thank you bye
