Aunque se están viviendo en campus de todo el país, el epicentro de esta movilización está en la Universidad de Columbia. Allí, los estudiantes han instalado un campamento improvisado y las autoridades universitarias negocian con los manifestantes un desalojo pacífico. Las protestas están provocando mucha controversia. Miembros del Gobierno y del partido republicano consideran que las protestas son antisemitas y que provocan inseguridad en el alumnado judío. Sin embargo, los participantes en las protestas apuntan a que muchos de ellos son judíos.
