bus it was mostly made out of recycled00:00:40
materials so this was some recycled 2x4s00:00:44
which we found we just cut them into00:00:46
little slivers put a stain on it put a00:00:48
varnish on it up here we've just got00:00:51
some little window frames they were just00:00:52
made out of palletwood and then inside00:00:55
we found these in a scrapyard they're00:00:57
just Coke bottle uh glass which is00:01:01
yellow they make a real nice light00:01:03
inside uh we tried cutting them00:01:05
ourselves we went through like two panes00:01:07
of glass and it was a headache so we00:01:10
actually had a friend who's cut glass00:01:11
before and she cut them for us we're00:01:14
very thankful um we made this cabinet00:01:16
slightly offset inwards just so that our00:01:19
door can shut and it doesn't touch the00:01:22
cabinet at00:01:23
all then down here we've got a little00:01:26
secret door and we just keep our dust00:01:29
pan in there just was tucked00:01:31
away and then we'll come00:01:36
inside we got this stick which we00:01:39
actually had in the garden we just cut00:01:41
it to size and then put a varnish on it00:01:44
and then we made this little00:01:46
base and just put a little wood bur on00:01:48
it and we think it looks marvelous so as00:01:51
you walk in we've built this wall here00:01:55
which just acts as a little divider from00:01:57
the front and the back um so this this00:01:59
was just palletwood again same thing up00:02:02
here we've just got our Essentials so00:02:04
we've got a wallet a phone just keeps00:02:07
everything a bit tidier we got a little00:02:09
picture we made this little key hook so00:02:12
we just put the car keys they're not00:02:13
even there now but we just put our car00:02:16
keys there up here we just got some00:02:18
Essentials so toothbrush toothpaste00:02:21
whatever we got a little money jar very00:02:23
hard to put money in always goes00:02:26
out um and then here we've got a step00:02:31
and you might be wondering why do we00:02:32
have a step well inside the step we've00:02:35
got our clothes and it's pretty big00:02:39
storage00:02:41
stores a lot of clothes um and then the00:02:44
step acts as a step to go into the00:02:49
shower so this shower door we made it00:02:52
was the same same style as the front it00:02:55
was just little00:02:56
slithers we bought these hinges on line00:03:00
we got a little Moon looks a bit like00:03:03
the Shrek00:03:04
toilet um and then we'll open it00:03:07
up and we got our shower in there we've00:03:10
got a little mini bath so we can have00:03:13
showers have a bath we can wash our00:03:16
cloes in it and the shower runs off of a00:03:19
12vt pump which we've just got in the00:03:21
front and it's a 60 L tank which we just00:03:25
fill up from the front pumps the water00:03:27
in gives us a shower and then we've got00:03:30
drainage that goes under the bus to some00:03:33
gray water tanks just at the back and00:03:36
that is our shower so up here we've got00:03:39
our AC units uh so we just got two00:03:41
little Vents and that just runs off of00:03:43
the cars AC so we just pump some cold00:03:46
air back through to the van so this is00:03:49
our cooking area we've got a camet00:03:51
cooker it's a double burner um we00:03:54
actually had another cooker in before00:03:56
but it was from Canada so we it wasn't00:03:58
Ada approved00:04:00
which was very sad cuz it looked very00:04:02
beautiful but we um we settled for this00:04:04
cooker uh we got our gas box running00:04:08
from the back and it runs all the way00:04:10
through to here and this one seems to be00:04:12
doing great we've got our little00:04:15
splashboard back here and we got these00:04:17
tiles from a scrapyard uh the guy00:04:20
apparently picked all these tiles off of00:04:22
a table so we got them from there look00:04:25
pretty cheap um the desk itself is00:04:28
Tallow wood just a Live Edge um I routed00:04:31
out half the depth on the inside just to00:04:34
save a lot of00:04:35
weight um and then up here we've got our00:04:38
spice rack so these were actually made00:04:41
from um in our previous house there was00:04:43
a beautiful little trim I guess um and I00:04:47
just copied that and made these little00:04:49
shelves and put that in Wood burned just00:04:52
what everything is uh and they're just00:04:55
jars that00:04:56
unscrew very easy to take out and use00:04:58
and just screw back back00:05:00
in just underneath this is our light00:05:03
switch so we got our main switch which00:05:06
does all the lights down the center we00:05:08
got our second one which is the shower00:05:10
light and our third one is just a light00:05:13
shining on the front00:05:16
seats just underneath the kitchen unit00:05:19
we've got a little shelf which we've00:05:21
just put sticks and cool things we found00:05:25
shelves uh underneath that we've got00:05:28
these two drawers00:05:30
so top one we've just got my partner is00:05:33
sewing stuff the bottom one we've just00:05:36
got electrical Goods so cables Chargers00:05:40
we got a laptop um and then just down00:05:42
the side we've got our little bin we00:05:45
don't like having a big bin cuz00:05:48
obviously it smell too much so we've got00:05:49
a small bin just so we can change it a00:05:52
lot and that's pretty much it we've just00:05:54
got our little hand tows on the side our00:05:57
little I don't even know what they're c00:06:00
pot Savers from burning the00:06:04
tops so this area was actually pretty00:06:06
fiddly because we tried to add a lot of00:06:10
things into a tiny area so we've00:06:12
obviously got the shower and we've got00:06:13
the bath so the bath actually comes to00:06:16
around here just underneath all of this00:06:20
and then these shelves under are made to00:06:25
the exact size of the bath so there00:06:27
they're like that so we just tried to00:06:29
cramp in pretty much as much as we00:06:31
could um just so it's the most00:06:34
functional and space saving so this is00:06:37
our living area uh this is the sofa that00:06:41
we made entirely from scratch we made00:06:43
the arms we made the backboard we made00:06:46
the00:06:47
cushions um so basically I just made one00:06:50
of the arms and it was actually just00:06:52
going to go in that corner we were going00:06:53
to leave this one open but um my partner00:06:57
wanted the second arm so I made a second00:07:00
arm and These Arms took maybe three days00:07:03
each um I just used 2 by8 which were00:07:07
recycled cut all of the shapes out with00:07:10
a jigsaw and router and then just carved00:07:13
in the little curls wooden dowed the00:07:17
screws and then the backboard just um00:07:20
jigs sword and then we put a little wood00:07:22
bur in the center and then the cushions00:07:26
were just foam and we wrapped a fabric00:07:29
around around and just added these00:07:31
buttons and then down here we've got a00:07:34
table that pulls out so it just comes00:07:36
and sits on the sofa probably about this00:07:40
high and then above the sofa we've got00:07:43
this window frame this was a picture00:07:47
frame which we found from a not shop and00:07:49
we just stained it cut out the wall and00:07:52
then we put a Little Dream Catcher which00:07:54
we made just in the center with two00:07:56
little00:07:57
curtains so the table is pretty easy to00:08:00
set up it's just got some latches just00:08:02
on both sides so you just unlatch it00:08:05
this side unlatch it this side and00:08:08
there's a latch at the bottom which it00:08:09
just sits on you just unclap that and00:08:12
then it just pulls out like00:08:14
this and then we've got two legs that00:08:18
are just stored00:08:21
inside00:08:23
so they just go on the bottoms of the00:08:28
table00:08:32
here and same thing on the other00:08:39
side there we00:08:41
go and flip the table00:08:48
over and you've got a lovely little00:08:51
table for your sofa lovely to eat your00:08:53
food on play a game of cards so00:08:57
underneath the sofa we've actually got00:08:58
all of our power so we've got our leer00:09:02
battery which is 115 amp we've got our00:09:06
1,500 W inverter we've got our solar00:09:10
controller it's a00:09:12
mppt and we've got our fuse box so00:09:15
pretty much well all of our power runs00:09:18
through here so the lights the water00:09:20
pumps our00:09:22
fridge and our power boards and we've00:09:26
got two little USB ports just down here00:09:29
so if you just want to sit down on the00:09:30
sofa and charge your phone you can just00:09:33

out on this side we've got a plant pot00:09:39
it was just a salt I don't even know00:09:41
what it was just yeah salt container00:09:44
which you attach onto the wall so we00:09:46
took the lid off put some soil in put a00:09:48
plant in and we're going to train this00:09:50
plant to just go all the way around the00:09:53
archway in good time this is our kitchen00:09:56
unit uh once again it's tallowwood big00:09:59

Underneath just to take the weight off00:10:03
it so it's not that heavy we've got our00:10:05
sink just here and we've got our tap and00:10:08
we've got the switch for the tap just00:10:10
there so that just turns on the water00:10:12

our little chopping board just on this00:10:17
side which is held in by some beads and00:10:19
we just do all of our chopping here so00:10:22
we can just chop our food put it into00:10:24
the pan here so it's pretty useful it's00:10:26
pretty easy to move around uh this whole00:10:29
unit we actually bought off Facebook00:10:31
Marketplace and it was pretty bad it was00:10:33
pretty beaten up so we just sanded the00:10:36
whole thing back we added a lot so we00:10:38
added these doors we added this shelf um00:10:42
we cut off the top just so it fits into00:10:43
the bus we um did some paintings just on00:10:48
the bottoms here added some new00:10:50
handles added this00:10:53
shelf and yeah just extended it back a00:10:55
little bit just so it all fits in the00:10:58
bus um we added these rounded um00:11:02
compartments just on the sides so00:11:04
they're just cut pallet wood um with a00:11:09
plywood um support piece I guess which00:11:13
is just screwed in hinged in and we just00:11:16
store some things in there we've got a00:11:18
little plant at the top which we made00:11:20
the same thing again at the00:11:23
bottom got a little latch just down here00:11:27
and we just store just some spare things00:11:30
that we00:11:31
have um just in this drawer we've got00:11:34
our00:11:35
Cutlery so we just added these pieces of00:11:39
wood dividing obviously the cut00:11:41
Lo on the second one it was a drawer00:11:45
initially but we just added some hinges00:11:49
to00:11:50
it and just made it a different shape00:11:53
just so because you obviously could fit00:11:55
a drawer just at the top so we just did00:11:57
this to save some space we just keep00:11:58
keep some sponges and some spare bin00:12:01
bags um and then in here we just have00:12:06
our dry foods which we00:12:09
store um and then we've got our pots and00:12:11
pans just at the00:12:13
top so everything is00:12:16
pretty much in the right area that we00:12:19
need it for so at the back of this unit00:12:23
um we've got another shelf just here00:12:25
it's um tallowwood again we just cut it00:12:27
out the piece that we had00:12:29
and it's got some things that we've00:12:31
stored there and it actually lifts up00:12:35
into a00:12:36
secret00:12:38
second shelf where you can store some00:12:40
more stuff and it's just on a pulley00:12:42
system so we've just got some wheels and00:12:46
we put some rope which feeds all behind00:12:48
the counter and then comes through on00:12:50
this side and you just pull it up and00:12:52
let it go next to our kitchen unit we've00:12:54
got our fridge which is very convenient00:12:57
so we just made it tailed to the size00:13:01
put a counter on top so you can just put00:13:03
whatever you want on the fridge um it00:13:05
was actually initially just a bar fridge00:13:08
um which we found off Facebook00:13:09
Marketplace and we sprayed the top and00:13:12
put a little vinyl on the top um just to00:13:15
make it look a bit more woodh and fit00:13:17
with the van rather than just having a00:13:19
white fridge um and inside we've got no00:13:23
food00:13:24
unfortunately but we need to do a00:13:26
grocery shop but that's fridge um00:13:30
underneath the fridge we just made this00:13:31
little um compartment we just put our00:13:34
little journals there and our pens so00:13:36
they're just easy to grab um we put a00:13:38
little wood bur on the front of it just00:13:41
a little00:13:42
butterfly and we think that looks very00:13:44
lovely so just up here we've got our00:13:47
cute little window we just cut out all00:13:49
of the window frames they were just cut00:13:51
out of recycled 2x4s I routed out all00:13:54
the edges I made them like L brackets00:13:57
kind of uh cut my 45s just on the00:14:00
corners and then routed the edges just00:14:04
put a stand on it and varnished it and00:14:06
then nailed them in and I did that with00:14:08
all of the windows apart from that one00:14:10
which we bought so I did it with this00:14:12
window frame too and then the ones in00:14:14
the bedrooms which we'll show you in a00:14:16
sec uh this is the pulley system which00:14:19
lifted up that little secret section uh00:14:22
up here we just got a couple of hooks00:14:23
just some00:14:24
bags just some00:14:27
vegetables um this is our little banana00:14:30
hook so we just put some bananas on00:14:31
there and they just hang00:14:33
down um we made this trim that just00:14:36
divides uh these two sections that was00:14:39
once again 2x4 it was cut in two00:14:42
sections so I did the bottom piece00:14:44
jigsaw out the shape uh and just routed00:14:47
the edges and then did the same for the00:14:49
top just rounded off the top and then00:14:51
put a stain on that um I cut it into the00:14:54
Live Edge it was very fiddly it wasn't00:14:57
fun um and and that's that this is just00:15:00
a plywood wall um which we painted cuz00:15:04
we didn't really like the look of00:15:05
plywood so we just painted that this is00:15:08
the ladder that leads up to the bedroom00:15:10
it was made out of gum tree we actually00:15:12
had a big gum tree in the garden which00:15:14
was pretty unsafe so we got it cut down00:15:17
and used the branches off of that to00:15:18
make this ladder um we just took off all00:15:21
the bark and00:15:23
then found the pieces which fit to make00:15:26
this ladder we wouldn't dowed the screws00:15:28
just to hide them and we put a little00:15:30
stain on it we also made this little00:15:33
backboard for the ladder um that was00:15:35
just made out of a sheet of wood which00:15:37
we jigsaw out um carved in all of these00:15:40
little fancy pieces put some stain on it00:15:45
and then we made this Archway which we00:15:48
think is pretty epic it was made out of00:15:50
2x4s and we pretty much cut it all into00:15:53
little sections we made a big cardboard00:15:57
stencil of the shape of the archway and00:16:00
then laid it out and then pretty much00:16:02
just made a giant jigsaw of what we were00:16:04
going to do and then we put the gum tree00:16:07
sticks inside it so it kind of acts as a00:16:11
little little shut off area what's the00:16:15
word divider divider that's the word a00:16:17
little divider from the bedroom to this00:16:20
area and we think it looks pretty00:16:23
epic and then it leads into the bedroom00:16:27
on either side of the ladder we made00:16:28
these boxes so they're just more storage00:16:31
we put our clothes in them so we got00:16:33
these little curtains that hide them and00:16:35
then I've got my clothes on this side00:16:38
we've got our little Sun's clothes on00:16:40
this side that one's got a little coat00:16:42
hanger at the top so we've hung up his00:16:44
clothes he's got more of his clothes at00:16:46

bottom um on this side of the Box we've00:16:51
got the light switch which leads into00:16:53
the bedroom um we've got our main light00:16:55
which is just the center one so just00:16:58
turns on and off and then the bottom00:17:01
light switch is the scones just at the00:17:04
back so that just turns them on and off00:17:07
and we've actually got a dimmer for00:17:08
these um which lives in the battery box00:17:11
so at night time if we just want it to00:17:13
be real dark but still have a little bit00:17:15
of light in we just turn it real dim or00:17:17
if we want it to be bright we turn it00:17:19
bright so that's the lights for the00:17:21
bedroom this is the bedroom area at the00:17:24
back of the bedroom we built this00:17:26
bookshelf uh it was made out of just a00:17:28
sheet of plywood which we jigsaw all out00:17:31
we jigsa out this sunand and put a00:17:33
little wood burn on it uh we just hold00:17:37
some books some spare beding and we just00:17:40
got some little artificial plants just00:17:42
at the top uh we got our lights just on00:17:45
the00:17:46
side um and then just above our bed00:17:50
we've got this big Skylight which we cut00:17:53
out put a00:17:57
um what's the the word what is it called00:17:59
plexiglass we put a plexiglass sheet on00:18:01
top we actually had to find um a place00:18:04
online which did the sheet big enough we00:18:06
couldn't find them in Bunnings they were00:18:07
just slightly too small so we found a00:18:09
place we ordered it they got sent to us00:18:12
uh we made these00:18:14
little curtains for the Skylight00:18:17
basically if it's a really hot day we00:18:19
just keep these shut just so it stops00:18:22
the Sun from glaring in too much and00:18:24
making the room too hot so we normally00:18:26
keep these shut during the day and then00:18:28
at night time say if it's pretty warm at00:18:30
night time we can just open them up and00:18:32
I like the heat from this room just00:18:35
leaves through the top uh another way00:18:37
that we keep the room pretty cool is we00:18:40
just got a little 12volt fan here which00:18:43
has just got two little settings it's00:18:45
got fast and it's got slow but it's00:18:48
mostly on00:18:50
Fast uh above this00:18:52
door um we've got this nice little piece00:18:55
of wood which we found from a not shop00:18:57
we just attached attach to that we made00:18:59
all the curtains ourselves so we cut00:19:02
them sewed them up we've got two little00:19:04
curtains here so we keep these ones they00:19:08
also kind of work as a flying it during00:19:10
the day um if we want to keep the door00:19:12
open and get a breeze in and then these00:19:14
are pretty thick so they block out a lot00:19:16
of the Sun a lot of the um light so if00:19:18
we're camping I don't know maybe in a00:19:21
busy area or something we'll keep them00:19:23
shut just so no light comes out of the00:19:26
bus and people think we're in the bus00:19:27
when we may we not meant to00:19:29
be so on this side of the bedroom we've00:19:33
um just wood burned some little snakes00:19:36
on both00:19:37
sides uh they match in so they're just00:19:39
the same image flipped over um on this00:19:42
side it actually lifts up into our00:19:46
underwear drawer and sock00:19:48
drawer so it's pretty handy to have00:19:51
there when you're waking up in the00:19:52
morning and you're like ah where's my00:19:54
socks where's my underwear it's right00:19:55
next to you which is pretty handy00:19:59
um we also made these little trims in00:20:01
the bedroom that go around the archway00:20:03
they were just routed out and cut to the00:20:06
size um and it's just a nice little view00:20:09
looking down into the bus we made the00:20:11
bed a levitating bed so it's basically00:20:14
just attached to the walls and we added00:20:16
some legs just on the end um that was00:20:20
for having a lot of storage underneath00:20:23
so we raised the bed pretty high that's00:20:24
where we got the ladder um and we can00:20:26
obviously still sit up in the bed um so00:20:30
yeah we just pretty much tried to00:20:31
utilize as much space as possible we've00:20:33
got so much space under the bed let's00:20:36
show you so under the bed we pretty much00:20:39
store um just the things that we don't00:20:42
want flying around we've got our tool00:20:43
boxes under there spare pair of shoes a00:20:46
spare Duna um Ashley's sewing machine um00:20:51
little pram uh and we've got a water00:20:54
hose just under there just so that we00:20:56
can connect it up to water up our tanks00:20:59
and it goes all the way to the end of00:21:01
the bus and it's really00:21:03
high so yeah I don't believe you'd ever00:21:06
be able to fill it00:21:07
up on the door we just put a sheet of00:21:12
ply we got this vinyl that we put on CU00:21:15
it's pretty much just a sheet of Steel00:21:17
this door so we couldn't really screw00:21:19
anything into it screws would just come00:21:21
out on the other side we made this Live00:21:24

table uh which just unclips like this00:21:28
and then these just hinge00:21:30
out and it folds down like that you00:21:33
can't hold a crazy amount of weight but00:21:36
it'll definitely hold two glasses and a00:21:39
bottle of wine or we do some cooking00:21:42
sometimes out here rather than cooking00:21:45
inside sometimes it's just a bit too hot00:21:46
so it's nice to cook outside and just00:21:48
air out um and it just doesn't stink out00:21:51
the bus so yeah we like to do a bit of00:21:53
cooking here and have some fun so we00:21:56
didn't do much with the outside we00:21:58
pretty much just left it how it is but00:22:00
we attached our roof racks which holds00:22:04
two of our solar panels they're 160 watt00:22:07
each that's 32000:22:09
watt um we had to get it engineered00:22:12
engineer00:22:13
approved um for having three seats00:22:16
because it was initially just a full bus00:22:18
had 22 seats I think I remember so we00:22:22
had to take out the seats silicon up the00:22:23
holes and then just get the engineer00:22:25
certificate to sign it off as safe00:22:28
um we're on the roof we put a couple of00:22:33
coats of liquid rubber on and that's00:22:35
pretty much just to keep the heat out00:22:37
because it's a big surface on the top00:22:39
and a lot of heat comes from the roof um00:22:41
so we just put quite a few coats on Top00:22:44
This is the cab area so this is where we00:22:46
do the drivein the heavy00:22:49
kilometers um it's pretty much all just00:22:51
the same we haven't changed much to it00:22:53
we just added a rug added some seat00:22:55
covers on the roof we did actually just00:22:58
take out the original lining and just00:23:01
board it up these are our speakers so we00:23:04
relocated them and made these little00:23:07
plywood rings with some little Hessian00:23:10
bags um as the speaker pieces we00:23:15
relocated the center light this was00:23:17
originally just down the center of the00:23:18
bus um so we relocated rewired it to00:23:21
here so that just turns on and off um by00:23:25
the00:23:26
Dashboard just behind the dri seat is00:23:28
our water tank for the shower it's our00:23:30
60 L tank um and we've got our water00:23:33
pump just above it so when we fill it up00:23:36
we just fill it up straight through here00:23:38
it's pretty easy to do it's not that00:23:39
fiddly we'll just fold the seat down00:23:42
open the door fill it00:23:45
up um and then we've got these curtains00:23:47
that just divide the cab into the room00:23:51
um a lot of heat comes in through our00:23:52
cab so we thought these curtains would00:23:55
be really good just to block out the00:23:56
