00:00:01
this is Apollo control at 133 hours 25
00:00:04
minutes uh we're still about uh 32
00:00:07
minutes from reacquiring Apollo
00:00:10
10 uh the spacecraft will shortly be uh
00:00:13
beginning its 30th revolution of the
00:00:15
Moon we have some additional information
00:00:17
from our flight Dynamics officer on the
00:00:20
uh relative positions of the command and
00:00:22
service module and uh Snoopy's descent
00:00:25
stage the uh analysis of the relative
00:00:29
orbits of the the two spacecraft shows
00:00:32
that U Snoopy has apparently
00:00:36
been rather the command and service
00:00:38
module has apparently been lapping uh
00:00:41
Snoopy as we said and uh we believe that
00:00:44
the point of closest approach of the two
00:00:46
spacecraft uh occurred during the uh
00:00:51
current Revolution uh when Tom
00:00:55
Stafford and John Young were describing
00:00:58
their sightings of the uh LM descent
00:01:01
stage uh not necessarily at exactly that
00:01:04
time but sometime during that Revolution
00:01:07
we believe the point of closest approach
00:01:08
of the two spacecraft
00:01:10
occurred uh from now
00:01:13
on uh the orbits the relative orbits
00:01:16
will take U Snoopy farther behind Snoopy
00:01:20
of course being in a u higher orbit thus
00:01:23
taking longer to complete a
00:01:25
revolution The Command Module will
00:01:27
continue to move out in front so that by
00:01:31
the time transar injection
00:01:33
occurs uh Snoopy should be about 5 to
00:01:36
600 miles behind at its point of closest
00:01:42
Approach at 133 Hours 27 minutes into
00:01:46
the flight of Apollo 10 this is Mission
00:01:48
Control
00:02:02
this is Apollo control at 133 hours 56
00:02:06
minutes and we're now about 50 seconds
00:02:09
from reacquiring Apollo 10 now in its
00:02:13
30th revolution of the Moon uh coming up
00:02:15
on this revolution the crew will be
00:02:17
involved in uh some Landmark tracking
00:02:20
exercises and also uh we'll be taking
00:02:24
photographs of targets of
00:02:26
opportunity as you heard on that
00:02:28
previous Revolution Tom Stafford
00:02:30
reported that he had uh taken a large
00:02:32
number of pictures and that the onboard
00:02:34
Film Supply was running low so we don't
00:02:37
anticipate a great deal of uh
00:02:40
photography of this
00:02:45
revolution we'll stand by now to
00:02:47
reacquire the spacecraft in about 10
00:02:49
seconds
00:03:17
hell houon
00:03:20
hon all right Houston reading loud and
00:03:22
clear go
00:03:26
ahead Hey Joe we got another little F I
00:03:29
want to thr
00:03:32
two back to
00:03:37
go the condenser exhaust temperature is
00:03:40
cycling on fuel
00:03:43
to the
00:03:52
uh5 about cycling two cycles per minute
00:03:57
been doing this uh at least for the last
00:04:00
4 30 40 minutes and about one in every
00:04:03
10
00:04:05
cyarm for low temperature on fuel cell
00:04:09
too in addition uh I guess maybe we're
00:04:12
seeing we haven't before
00:04:15
but f 2 and three
00:04:18
the2 uh R just the G just keeps up and
00:04:23
down just maybe 01 or so but just enough
00:04:26
needle with up and down on slow R
00:04:28
continuously on both f
00:04:31
over okay 10 we copied everything except
00:04:33
the U the band that the temperature is
00:04:36
cycling between this between 155 and
00:04:39
something what was the other
00:04:44
number between
00:04:47
about
00:04:48
73 and about 155 it's p right into green
00:04:53
band at two cyes per
00:04:54
minute alarm and the low about one every
00:04:58
P CLE
00:05:00
okay thank you J copied all
00:05:05
that okay 10 this is Houston will uh
00:05:08
we'll
00:05:09
monitor go
00:05:13
ahead go
00:05:15
ahead okay we'll monitor that fuel cell
00:05:18
down here as best we can and keep us
00:05:20
advised if anything new happens also uh
00:05:22
did you did you get a chance to look for
00:05:24
Snoopy on the back side of sunrise
00:05:43
all okay we copied that Tom uh go ahead
00:05:45
G you were going to say
00:05:49
something I say we got our the way a
00:05:53
little B early we dumped about 15
00:05:56
minutes
00:05:58
ago okay copied that uh we've got a
00:06:01
power configuration for Te bur with
00:06:03
respect to this fuel cell now this this
00:06:06
is with the original fuel cell problem
00:06:08
we may want to change it some if we've
00:06:10
got another problem but if you'd like to
00:06:12
uh like to copy this down I'll read off
00:06:14
this configuration for
00:06:19
you go ahead and believe it or not it
00:06:23
looks like that condensor exhaust
00:06:25
temperature cycle has now closed it B
00:06:27
down to be about uh - 10° well within
00:06:31
the green band uh just as we came around
00:06:34
here within about the last 5
00:06:36
minutes okay that sounds real good we'll
00:06:38
still keep a good close eye on it for
00:06:40
you uh on this configuration for the Tei
00:06:43
burn and this will be for the 136 hours
00:06:46
uh we'd like for you to verify that the
00:06:48
fuel cell one pumps are off on panel
00:06:51
5 and prior to the Tei burn at
00:06:54
approximately 136 hours Place fuel cell
00:06:58
one on both main buses and after the Tei
00:07:02
burn take number one fuel cell off Main
00:07:05
a main B buses as whenever it's
00:07:22
convenient that's ative
00:07:27
te okay do you want one pump off
00:07:37
now okay Jean uh the circuit breaker for
00:07:40
one is is open now is that
00:07:54
air that
00:07:57
corre uh you're coming through
00:08:05
little Fu what i is the
00:08:12
Swit should be
00:08:30
okay Dean uh I think uh if I read you
00:08:33
correctly uh if we understand what you
00:08:35
mean we're we're not going to try and
00:08:37
activate the pump uh during Tei burn
00:08:39
we're going to leave it turned off so
00:08:41
you you can leave that switch wherever
00:08:43
it is now if you like the the circuit
00:08:45
breaker is pulled uh we're just going to
00:08:48
bring the fuel uh we're going to
00:08:50
activate the fuel cell we won't turn the
00:08:51
pump
00:08:55
on I'm we Cann turn the p on because the
00:08:58
CC Breer will reset I ref to the I'll
00:09:02
leave it in the ac1 position we never
00:09:06
turn it off
00:09:10
after
00:09:12
it that'll be fine just leave it where
00:09:14
it is it's it's inactivated now anyway
00:09:42
sem
00:09:43
sign Roger we're ring
00:09:49
10 okay I'll stay here then
00:09:55
okay okay it looks like that isolation
00:09:58
on the condenser exhaust your field cell
00:10:01
2 has DED out believe it or not but uh I
00:10:05
timed it and it was going two cyles
00:10:07
second throughout the region and as I
00:10:09
say trigger our Master fuel C too but
00:10:12
it's stable
00:10:14
now
00:10:16
okay that was two cyes that was two cyes
00:10:19
per minute
00:10:22
Joe okay we were monitoring some of that
00:10:25
oscillation down here but we didn't see
00:10:27
quite the uh quite the width of that you
00:10:29
were seeing
00:10:33
j okay I just took it right off the Gau
00:10:36
here and that's I want to take let you
00:10:38
take a look at it
00:10:39
now okay and uh T this is Houston you
00:10:43
can go you can terminate your battery B
00:10:45
charge now if you want it
00:11:14
ISS again or something going down just
00:11:17
went down below you
00:11:21
00:11:26
he okay Tom uh your breaking up a little
00:11:29
bit understand about 30 seconds ago it
00:11:31
was ahead of you say again the pitch
00:11:39
angle again it could be
00:11:41
a only I can reflection
00:11:59
Roger
00:12:12
Tom understand
00:12:50
Houston okay we're right near B1 for the
00:12:54
spark go ahead keep it short over I've
00:12:58
got a maneuver pad give me call when
00:12:59
you're ready to copy Tom I'm sorry
00:13:32
okay Houston go ahead with your maneuver
00:13:36
pad Roger 10 this will be okay I'm

00:19:43
right okay 10 this is Houston um let's
00:19:47
see Jean I've got a short Map update and
00:19:49
a photo update however uh did a copy
00:19:52
before that you uh you say you're you
00:19:54
are out of film or you're about out of
00:19:56
film
00:20:00
stand by Joe in the middle of the
00:20:01
land'll call you sorry standing
00:20:12
by okay P this is Houston we observed on
00:20:15
your last uh Mark there that you got
00:20:17
four marks and U the last one was just
00:20:20
past the nater it looks like if you
00:20:22
increase your pitch rate just a little
00:20:23
bit you can probably get five marks
00:20:24
without any problem
00:20:50
this is
00:20:51
over 10 go
00:20:56
ahead Roger that's first one that group
00:20:59
was not on what I think is uh site
00:21:04
150 to this most Sun angle you got some
00:21:07
darn mini Traders out there the
00:21:09
groupings don't stand out like they do
00:21:11
with the with a high Sun angle and I I'm
00:21:15
not I'm not even sure that I marked on
00:21:18
150 although it was one of the three
00:21:20
traders in there pretty high
00:21:23
contract okay we copy that John thank
00:21:26
you
00:21:29
the first Mar definitely was not on the
00:21:32
on the site on what I thought with the
00:21:35
last four
00:21:38
were okay we copy that thank
00:21:44
you Jo I've got this object got in front
00:21:47
of me again I'm sure keep the same
00:21:49
orbital mechanics it must be a big H
00:21:51
ofar up there reflective satellite just
00:21:54
going his own Terminator now and it's uh
00:21:58
held about
00:22:00
down in a local vertical of about
00:22:03
estimate I'm coming up to it
00:22:06
now
00:22:08
330° hold
00:22:11
330 okay sure understand and you think
00:22:15
that's you think that's a hunk of my you
00:22:18
say
00:22:21
Tom to be to be that that load out below
00:22:26
us and still keep about to Road got to
00:22:29
be Jo okay you can't get the monoc on
00:22:32
that can
00:22:36
you Jo Joe I'm looking at it now and and
00:22:39
uh to be in sunlight where it is it has
00:22:42
to be awfully close to us and I got to
00:22:46
think okay might fine thank
00:22:51
you I'll give you a hand get on going to
00:22:54
Darkness about the same time we do if we
00:22:56
can tell here and I'm pretty sure it's
00:22:58
not far
00:22:59
away okay we understand and understand
00:23:02
you're ready for this map update
00:23:09
P okay give me a call when you're
00:23:19
ready you you have the data from that
00:23:22
landar
00:23:24
over Roger we got it
00:23:36
and a 10 this is Houston Jack says it
00:23:38
look like your last four marks were
00:23:40
spaced very nicely over the
00:23:46
target yeah whatever it
00:23:50
was I think that was side 150 but boy
00:23:53
there are a lot of shadows out in that
00:23:54
place and uh right now and I wouldn't be
00:23:58
100% sure that that was sight 150
00:24:03
crater okay we're
00:24:12
copy I was D close to
00:24:14
what okay
00:24:58
and we both those uh both those last sites were
00:25:01
done with a telescope I couldn't pick
00:25:03
either one of them up in the section the
00:25:06
first one was
00:25:09
almost was washed out inse to the
00:25:13
sunshine and the second one I just
00:25:16
couldn't uh with all the Shadows I
00:25:19
couldn't see anything Rog copy G it

right
00:29:57
now yes I requ be
00:30:32
uh T this is Houston uh we're not able
00:30:35
to read your transmission here you're
00:30:36
coming through a little broken up and it
00:30:38
looks like from the data here looks like
00:30:40
they're coming in on the scan
00:30:46
limit okay now I think you got it go
00:30:49
ahead serer you're booming in loud and
00:30:51
clear
00:30:52
now and we got good data now J okay
00:31:03
Houston the computer is yours you can go
00:31:05
back to block
00:31:16
now
00:31:18
hello go
00:31:22
ahead okay we're load to D to set up for
00:31:25
tii we've got the two jet
00:31:29
set up for B and D in U plus X
00:31:33
translation and register one if you're
00:31:34
reading our disy okay now for register
00:31:37
two just to reaffirm here we're going to
00:31:40
use you want we're going to use b& D for
00:31:42
roll too
00:31:51
over okay the you know we want to
00:31:55
activate quad D though
00:31:58
fact is there any qu one have failed
00:32:00
there and
00:32:02
register uh two other than use than use
00:32:05
BD in the first digit
00:32:14
over okay Tom we we do not want to fail
00:32:16
any quads we want a zero and four ones
00:32:18
in
00:32:22
there okay that's what we thought
00:32:35
to go ahead
00:32:38
10 okay it looks like our condenser
00:32:41
exhaust temperature once we come into
00:32:42
night time is now starting to cycle
00:32:45
again uh uh it's starting slowly you can
00:32:48
watch it from where you are I
00:32:54
guess okay we'll we'll monitor it down
00:32:56
here Jan thanks for alertness and also
00:32:59
um Tom just to remind you on uh we want
00:33:01
you to enable all the auto RCS U for for
00:33:05
your
00:33:09
burn aut RCS AC over that's
00:33:17
affirmative say again that's
00:33:23
affirmative okay
00:33:51
Houston go ahead okay U on your fuel sh
00:33:55
we're monitoring um monitoring this
00:33:58
power output on two and three and the
00:34:00
load sharing appears to be normal
00:34:02
although we are monitoring this change
00:34:04
in temperature on the condenser exhaust
00:34:06
we're showing about oh it's grown to
00:34:08
about an8 or 9 degree spread now however
00:34:11
doesn't look like uh we could recommend
00:34:13
any kind of changes right now we'll keep
00:34:15
watching it though
00:34:31
houst this is 10 what's your temperature
00:34:34
limits at that exhaust
00:34:43
temperat
00:34:44
hell Roger 10 I was just getting those
00:34:47
numbers Doo the lower limit is
00:34:49
149.5 and the upper limit is
00:34:55
177 you need it's G from 149.5 to 177
00:35:00
I'm sorry I misunderstood you what we're
00:35:02
reading is from about a
00:35:04
1542 or so up to
00:35:07
167 the limits where you're Li to get a
00:35:09
light is from 1495 to 177
00:35:15
over okay thank you Jo you're reading
00:35:18
about the same thing I am I I the light
00:35:20
here about minute half after we lose
00:35:24
you okay I tell you Jean we've been
00:35:27
monitoring
00:35:28
the Cycles here the oscillation and it
00:35:30
looked like it opened up to about a 15°
00:35:32
14 or 13 or 14° uh spread and it appears
00:35:36
to be holding that pretty steadily and
00:35:39
the uh it's going up and down between
00:35:41
about the same limits uh is that about
00:35:43
what it looks like to
00:35:49
youan
00:35:55
Houston this is Apollo control we've had
00:35:58
loss of signal
00:36:00
now we'll be
00:36:02
reacquiring Apollo 10 in about 403
00:36:06
minutes the spacecraft at that time will
00:36:09
be in its 31st Revolution uh during that
00:36:12
Revolution we'll be passing up the
00:36:14
information that the crew will uh need
00:36:17
for their transar injection uh
00:36:20
maneuver uh that uh burn is scheduled to
00:36:25
occur at 137 hours 36 minutes 28 seconds
00:36:29
and of course will uh take place behind
00:36:32
the
00:36:33
moon uh while we're out of contact with
00:36:40
Apollo the uh burn duration is
00:36:45
uh currently planned at 3631 ft per
00:36:49
second with a burn duration of 2 minutes
00:36:53
41 seconds
00:36:59
and during that
00:37:01
uh last pass on rev
00:37:06
30 uh as we reacquired the spacecraft
00:37:10
Jean cernon came on to advise
00:37:13
that he had noticed a uh temperature
00:37:17
cycling in fuel cell number
00:37:20
two in the condenser exhaust
00:37:23
temperature uh this was cycling he said
00:37:26
between 100 55° and
00:37:31
173° uh later he reported that the
00:37:34
cycling had uh reduced that the
00:37:37
temperature range had stabilized and uh
00:37:41
uh the fuel
00:37:43
cell uh temperature had become stable
00:37:46
and as the spacecraft moved into
00:37:48
darkness
00:37:50
again uh near the end of the uh
00:37:54
acquisition
00:37:56
period uh cernon reported again that the
00:37:59
temperature was beginning to fluctuate
00:38:01
we were also able to monitor that
00:38:03
temperature fluctuation here on the
00:38:07
ground the uh temperature range was
00:38:12
cycling uh on the order of uh 10 or
00:38:15
15° ranging from
00:38:18
between 53 to
00:38:21
around 60 65 or
00:38:25
68 uh there's no concern about the
00:38:29
temperature on the low side the uh
00:38:31
temperature ranges on the high side uh
00:38:34
can get can get up to around 200° before
00:38:36
there is any concern with that uh
00:38:39
particular temperature we'll continue to
00:38:43
uh observe that parameter in the fuel
00:38:47
cell uh when the spacecraft comes back
00:38:49
around on the 31st Revolution at this
00:38:53
time it does not appear to be a problem
00:38:54
the
00:38:55
uh uh econ the
00:38:59
Electrical uh and Communications
00:39:01
engineer reports that uh the fuel cell
00:39:04
appears to be functioning normally in
00:39:06
all other aspects and is uh sharing the
00:39:09
load as it should and that its power
00:39:11
output is uh absolutely
00:39:15
nominal at 135 hours 15 minutes this is
00:39:20
Apollo control Houston
00:39:32
this is Apollo control at 135 hours 55
00:39:37
minutes we're less than 1 minute now
00:39:40
until acquisition of Apollo 10 the
00:39:44
spacecraft now in its 31st revolution of
00:39:47
the moon this will be the last full
00:39:49
Revolution prior to uh transar injection
00:39:53
beginning the trip back to Earth
00:39:58
uh during this
00:39:59
upcoming Revolution the uh crew will be
00:40:03
involved in getting the
00:40:05
spacecraft and the guidance system
00:40:08
configured for the transar injection
00:40:13
maneuver we'll be passing up the uh pad
00:40:16
information for that
00:40:19
burn we should have acquisition
00:40:23
now uh we show that uh
00:40:28
we have data from the spacecraft we'll
00:40:31
standby for voice communication
00:41:12
FL we have
00:41:19

Delta

V we got it
00:49:57
Houston J did you uh notice about the
00:50:00
same kind of excursions on your on your
00:50:03
temperature on that fuel cell on this
00:50:04
time on the back
00:50:08
side all the way Jo exactly as it was
00:50:11
the previous time only we never did get
00:50:13
the master alarm this time and when we
00:50:15
came on in the sunlight uh she seemed to
00:50:17
slow down and it's okay now we also uh
00:50:20
found that accompanied it was this
00:50:22
slight uh oscillation in the O2 needle
00:50:25
on both two and three but it's going now
00:50:30
too okay we copy that and that's just on
00:50:33
the dark side of the moon is that affirm
00:50:37
that it occurs uh after we go into
00:50:40
darkness about 15 minutes and then uh
00:50:43
apparently very shortly after we come
00:50:45
out of Sunrise into Sunrise it starts uh
00:50:48
it starts damping out okay understand

00:51:46

00:52:59
74526 and with no Tei we'll get you it
00:53:02

00:53:43
tan and up there in the highlands it is
00:53:46

00:53:49
like more like a Egyptian color been

Egyptian okay we copy that thank
00:54:00
you anyway that ought give you the true
00:54:02
pictur whatever it is true
00:54:06
colors yeah the colors we've been seeing
00:54:08
on that are just exactly as you've been
00:54:10
describing them all the way through all
00:54:12
the way from the whites through the
00:54:13
Browns down to the blacks and when you
00:54:15
when you talk about brownish Grays and
00:54:16
deep Grays and blacks why it looks just
00:54:19
like that on the
00:54:22
tube ah good show and uh for one quick
00:54:27

00:54:37
flip the tube on for you and we'll see
00:54:38
what it looks like in toal color going
00:54:40
away but I hear we're going to be
00:54:41
through honey is that right over that's
00:54:44
affirmative we're coming through honey
00:54:46

for the first program of that type uh
00:54:52
over there too
00:54:56
okay they got color over there I say
00:54:58
they're down
00:55:05
below I guess uh I guess they're black
00:55:08
and white over there
00:55:11
Tom okay
00:55:14
getting station can receive
00:55:17
everything Roger
00:55:21
that okay good show
00:55:31
okay Houston follow we're coming up on
00:55:34
the Highland areas and again en our
00:55:36
general observations even when we were
00:55:39
down at 50,000 ft that yes you do have
00:55:42
some rough terrain here but it doesn't
00:55:44
appear as sharp featured or as rugged in
00:55:47
a lot of places like on the back side or
00:55:49
over this highland area as the L orb
00:55:51
photo show over okay we copy that Tom
00:55:57
and that's all three independent
00:56:00
conclusions
00:56:05
on Roger
00:56:20
understand a real rough area is over
00:56:23
past sine Vader where you have strictly
00:56:25
a volcanic area
00:56:26
you have these little cones all tossed
00:56:28
up but out here in the Highland areas
00:56:31
you got a lot of slopes and things but
00:56:33
they're definitely not
00:56:34
as
00:56:38
there understand look like you could
00:56:40
find some places to put down in there is
00:56:42
that
00:56:47
airm uh well I don't want to dra theion
00:56:51
left we get back on the ground on that
00:56:52
one but out Mara from what we saw
00:56:55
yesterday down low like pointed up qua
00:56:58
25 to
00:57:01
35% pretty good
00:57:03
shape understand
00:57:41
hey as a matter of fact for Jack right
00:57:44
here I'm looking right down in CIA from
00:57:46
60 M up and you can see the boulders on
00:57:48
that Outer Edge and the
00:57:51
shadow that's pretty amazing Tom those
00:57:54
must be pretty good size down
00:57:59
there yeah you can make a building or
00:58:01
two out of each one
00:58:03
out we can drop an apple right in the
00:58:06
hole down
00:58:08
there Roger
00:58:27
the
00:59:26
the
01:00:24
okay we're passing over sight to for the
01:00:26
last time
01:00:32
around I H uh what's your recommendation
01:00:36
on a Pur
01:00:37
here and uh I'm looking for it in the
01:00:40
flight plan I don't see
01:00:42
it okay did you say
01:00:49
Puro put H2 Purge line heater on rer we
01:00:53
wanted the purge line heater on we
01:00:55
anticipate Pur number two here shortly
01:00:57
we don't want to do it just yet
01:01:01
though okay I'll
01:01:04
Stand rer we do want the heater on
01:01:06
though
01:01:14
janees very good thank
01:01:23
you no you sure don't have any trouble
01:01:25
down a hole from the hills around
01:01:29
here Rog mik
01:01:37
doing right now we're on top of R
01:01:41
looking down in the dark shadow the
01:01:44
there but you can see the ramping on the
01:01:46
wall and one or two possible big
01:01:48
boulders down in there the picture show
01:01:51
black here see sh below there
01:02:06
okay we checked the 230 in here go
01:02:08
through it got
01:02:11

01:08:28

01:08:31

01:11:02
that the spacecraft is configured right
01:11:05
now with the Omni antennas which
01:11:07
accounts for the somewhat noisy
01:11:08
Communications we're
01:11:10
getting uh Paulo 10 is currently at an
01:11:15
altitude of 64.6 nautical miles
01:11:18
approaching apogee which we now show uh
01:11:22
at 68.8 nautical miles the
01:11:25
spacecraft orbit uh parag is
01:11:30
