it's absolutely easy um just as long as00:01:30
you've got the right tools and i'll try00:01:32

and unscrew the outer covering00:02:12

just remove the air box00:02:29

this is normal what you're about to see00:02:34
you do get a bit of oil gunk00:02:37

we'll use brake cleaner to clean it up00:02:52

cleaner in that bit00:03:44
uh bungee strap just basically00:03:46
loop it over the box00:03:48
up and it's just clipped in00:03:50
on the spring on the other side00:03:52
that just lifts the box high enough so00:03:54
you can access the outer cover here00:04:00
all right so again um00:04:03
it's a black outer cover00:04:05
we'll have these type there's six of00:04:07
them obviously00:04:08

is if you have a half inch drive like00:05:44
normal um it's not going to work because00:05:47
basically there's a long one inside00:05:49

you're not gonna get a half inch socket00:05:55

you're not gonna be able to just be able00:06:54
to put00:06:56
a socket onto that because obviously00:06:58
it will just00:06:59

what we need00:07:05
is this guy00:07:08
known as a clutch holding tool00:07:11
and basically what uh00:07:13
the easiest way to explain it is them00:07:15
two pins there00:07:16
line up00:07:18
obviously into00:07:21

on the on this one00:07:26
it's actually quite a tight fit but i00:07:28
can just get it to squeeze onto there00:07:31
and then basically what i'm going to00:07:32

is put that00:07:36
under there00:07:37

right so basically i've grown it onto00:07:48
there on the handle just under the back00:07:50
of the clutch00:07:52
now they say it's a clutch holding tool00:07:53
you're supposed to hold that00:07:56
whilst00:07:57
doing that with the half inch wrench00:07:59

it's an 18mm socket that fits on this00:08:06
now personally i find it's a lot easier00:08:08
it'll stay there whilst you crack that00:08:10
off now make sure you are square with00:08:14
this don't you know at an angle or00:08:15
anything like that because you don't00:08:16
want to be chewing that you're not doing00:08:18
that not up00:08:19
um so basically it's just obvious i00:08:22
won't be able to do it also in the phone00:08:24
but00:08:25
basically just crack that off um00:08:27
normally what we do here is there is a00:08:30
red loctite00:08:31
just to stop that not from vibrating off00:08:34
um00:08:35

this removed00:08:41
all right so now we're loose um this bit00:08:43
is vital that you follow this order00:08:46
so basically the nut off00:08:49
the little washer00:08:51

there are a bit of a pain in the00:09:19
backside00:09:20
you will have a gasket00:09:22
a little metal gasket that runs around00:09:24

now pouring the cover on um obviously i00:09:29
do have to line the holes up around the00:09:31
cover00:09:36
basically obviously the gasket fits00:09:38
around that and obviously the gasket has00:09:40
holes accordingly00:09:42
so obviously when you put the cover back00:09:43
on i'm not going to show you that bit00:09:44

when obviously the reverse process what00:09:48

obviously when you put the bolts through00:09:52

here as well so this is loose00:10:55
keep holding the plate behind00:10:57
and slide off the shaft00:11:00

sliding pieces lift this off00:11:15
put to one side00:11:19
and inside here00:11:22
you have your roller weights00:11:25

particular bike you have six00:11:37

well we say might be belt issues00:11:44

that could prove thingy problematic00:11:54

this time round it didn't feel like um00:12:00

that it's clear proof that there's uh00:12:07

hesitation of the lights00:12:19

physically open it and have a look00:12:44

we have five rollers00:12:50
that are flat spotted that's the only00:12:52
one that's really survived00:12:54
so that's gonna cause hesitation now in00:12:57

um but basically in this scenario00:13:07
probably you could replace the rollers00:13:09
and this belt would be fine um00:13:12

thousand on it i mean they are good for00:13:40
twelve and a half and i mean it could00:13:41
last i mean if you do the rollers00:13:45
but normally what you find is actually00:13:48
if the00:13:51

if you bounce slack00:13:55
it puts strain on other bits so00:13:58
if that's slapping around00:14:00
ultimately it's going to have an effect00:14:02
on the weakest components and these00:14:05
unfortunately are well00:14:07
the00:14:08
metal marshmallows to be fair00:14:10
um00:14:12
so yeah i think what i'm going to do is00:14:14
have a look for some rollers um so we're00:14:17
going to be doing a roller and bolt00:14:18
change now00:14:19
wasn't what i wanted to do but whilst00:14:21
we're here we may as well um00:14:24
i mean that's the current00:14:27
variator it's not too bad we'll clean00:14:30
that up with a bit of brake cleaner as i00:14:32
say i'm not going to replace that new00:14:33
variator yet i just don't think it's00:14:36
worth it00:14:37

now this is uncharted territory and i00:14:57

it's not overkill00:15:29

give you a slightly better top end00:15:33
um i mean this bike's pretty nippy so i00:15:36

uh you're looking at three grams extra00:15:42
in weight00:15:43
and i mean to be fair00:15:46
i mean i know i've got the packaging on00:15:48

from hand weight from what i can feel00:15:55

these now so basically what i'm going to00:17:47

drop these00:17:51
into there00:17:55
trying to look through the camera and00:17:57
that's not as easy as it looks00:18:03

so basically on the cvt transmission um00:18:07
when that spins they basically flare out00:18:10
up against the edge as they move00:18:12
and the thing is it's the00:18:15
constant duration at high velocity00:18:19
you know when it's up there like that00:18:20
that's what00:18:21
it initially creates00:18:24
um00:18:25
you know that flat spot as you can see00:18:27
there00:18:28
causes that00:18:31
um00:18:33
i don't know what to think with the00:18:34
overall finish on these00:18:36
i mean these are genuine yamaha parts00:18:38
these aren't00:18:39
i mean00:18:41
the life of them i'm not too sure about00:18:43
um00:18:44
that is something i'm currently testing00:18:46
right now00:18:47
um but we'll see00:18:49

what my plan was with a slightly heavier00:18:52
roller was because the engine generally00:18:55
has bearable valve timing and it's a bit00:18:58
nippy which is a good thing and i do00:18:59
want it to be nippy off00:19:02
off you know the junction enough to00:19:03

but i just sometimes thought maybe if00:19:07
it's a bit too00:19:09
fiery um00:19:11
it's flaring them out all the time quite00:19:13
quickly if that makes sense you know00:19:14

i know that's quite a you know if you00:19:18
know what i mean that's doing that all00:19:20
the time it's very rapid and if they're00:19:22
a bit heavier they're a bit slower to00:19:24

they'll still move but obviously it's00:19:28

whether the engine will like it i don't00:19:34
know i mean i did speak to a scooter guy00:19:38

obviously that the engine's limited to00:19:56

instantly notice the bite wouldn't go00:20:02
