Русский пейзаж. Художники XIX века. Пейзаж, как самостоятельный жанр живописи, утвердился в России примерно в середине XVIII века. А до этого периода пейзаж был фоном для изображения иконописных композиций или частью книжных иллюстраций. Про русский пейзаж 19-го века написано очень много и писали такие, без преувеличения, большие специалисты в области живописи, что мне, по существу, добавить нечего. Первопроходцами российской пейзажной живописи называют Семёна Щедрина, Фёдора Алексеева и Фёдора Матвеева. Все эти художники изучали живопись в Европе, что наложило определённый отпечаток на их дальнейшее творчество. Щедрин (1749 – 1804) получил известность, как автор работ с изображением императорских загородных парков. Алексеева (1753 – 1824) прозвали русским Каналетто за пейзажи с изображением памятников архитектуры Петербурга, Гатчины и Павловска, Москвы. Матвеев (1758 – 1826) большую часть жизни работал в Италии и писал в духе своего учителя Гаккерта. Работам этого талантливого итальянского художника подражал и М.М. Иванов (1748 – 1828). Специалисты отмечают в развитии русской пейзажной живописи 19-го века два этапа, которые органически не связаны друг с другом, но хорошо различимы. Эти два этапа: реалистический; романтический. Граница между этими направлениями чётко сформировалась к середине 20-х годов XIX века. К середине восемнадцатого века русская живопись начинает освобождаться от рационализма классической живописи XVIII века. И большое значение в этих переменах имеет русский романтизм, как отдельное явление в российской живописи. Русский романтический пейзаж развивался по трём направлениям: городской пейзаж в основе которого лежали работы с натуры; изучение российской природы на основе «итальянской почвы»; русский национальный пейзаж.
