00:00:04
hey
00:00:05
um i think i'm live i think i might have
00:00:08
figured this out
00:00:09
um what's up guys how are you uh taylor
00:00:11
from pretty reckless here obviously
00:00:13
um i'm so excited to uh
00:00:16
be here talking to you guys gonna answer
00:00:19
some questions
00:00:20
and uh and then obviously we have the
00:00:24
world exclusive video premiere of and so
00:00:26
it went coming up at one
00:00:27
so um thanks for tuning in really
00:00:30
excited to share this with you and
00:00:32
uh i'm gonna i've collected some
00:00:35
questions and you guys have been
00:00:36
submitting them
00:00:37
via like you know instagram and twitter
00:00:40
and facebook and all that so
00:00:41
i've put some together and um i'm gonna
00:00:45
get to it so thanks guys for tuning in
00:00:47
and it's it's really good to
00:00:49
see you i can see all your comments
00:00:51
scrolling by but they're going by very
00:00:52
quickly so
00:00:53
um bear with me i'm not the best at this
00:00:56
um so let's get started
00:00:58
anyway um first question is coming from
00:01:02
jill weindorf of concord what's up jill
00:01:05
um she submitted her question on twitter
00:01:08
and her question is where did you get
00:01:09
that pink suit
00:01:11
uh well jill um
00:01:14
the pink suit is uh it was made by
00:01:16
versace which you know
00:01:18
can't really go wrong with versace um
00:01:22
and there is a bit of a story behind it
00:01:24
but i will actually get into that with
00:01:26
this next question which is from marianne on
00:01:29
twitter
00:01:30
um and her question is what was the
00:01:32
inspiration behind the pink
00:01:34
outfit for and so it went um
00:01:37
so really the i mean i i've been wanting
00:01:40
to make
00:01:42
something that's a little bit more a
00:01:45
little more fashion oriented
00:01:46
in uh in some of these visuals that
00:01:49
we've been putting out and
00:01:50
the pink suit idea came from i was
00:01:53
really i was
00:01:54
watching a lot of um really expensive
00:01:58
old school awesome videos from like
00:02:00
michael jackson to
00:02:01
madonna to the rhythmic so the suit
00:02:04
really kind of came from annie lennox
00:02:05
if i'm speaking loosely about it um
00:02:09
and kind of doing a look that i haven't
00:02:12
really done before and and just kind of
00:02:14
playing with that and um
00:02:16
i don't want to give too much away i
00:02:17
mean you've all seen the suit but you
00:02:18
haven't seen the video yet so
00:02:20
stay tuned anyway um
00:02:24
i always think this is so strange
00:02:25
because i feel like i know i'm talking
00:02:27
to all of you but
00:02:28
i can't hear or see any of you so it's a
00:02:30
little weird um
00:02:32
okay uh brian abreu
00:02:36
10 on twitter asked would you describe
00:02:39
the in so
00:02:40
how would you describe the in so it went
00:02:42
video um can't wait to see it
00:02:45
that is a good question um again i don't
00:02:48
really want to give too much away
00:02:49
because it's about to come out
00:02:51
so i'll let you guys determine it for
00:02:52
yourselves but um
00:02:55
i really kind of you know visuals to me
00:02:57
are always something that
00:02:58
um i focus on a lot and it's something
00:03:02
that i really want to
00:03:04
you know you spend so long writing a
00:03:06
song and
00:03:07
you know and creating it and and
00:03:09
recording it and
00:03:10
um to try to kind of create
00:03:14
a visual that complements the music but
00:03:18
doesn't distract but yet embellishes it
00:03:20
it's always a bit of a challenge
00:03:22
especially for i feel like especially for rock videos
00:03:24
because there's so many layers and
00:03:26
dynamic different dynamics to the song
00:03:29
so to kind of create a flow that
00:03:32
makes sense and um is still
00:03:36
left open to interpretation and is still
00:03:38
entertaining there's a lot of a lot of
00:03:39
elements that go into it and um
00:03:42
this one's something a little different
00:03:44
it's something kind of uh i think it
00:03:46
should be
00:03:47
i don't know i i love it so i'm really
00:03:48
excited for you guys to see it so i'll
00:03:49
kind of leave it there for for now and
00:03:51
i'll let you guys tell me what you think
00:03:52
um
00:03:53
at one o'clock um all right next
00:03:56
question
00:03:57
what was it like getting to work with
00:03:59
tom morello on this track
00:04:00
and what was the most challenging part
00:04:03
of this new way of shooting music videos
00:04:04
due to covid
00:04:05
that is from heaven knows wffs
00:04:09
on twitter um that's a two-parter
00:04:12
first of all getting to work with tom
00:04:14
was amazing um i've known tom for
00:04:17
quite a few years now at this point and
00:04:19
um you know we really
00:04:21
reconnected a few years back at the at
00:04:23
the chris corner on the highway
00:04:24
tribute show because we were both
00:04:26
playing together um on a song
00:04:28
called love and so that's where we like
00:04:30
reconnected or rebonded
00:04:31
and shortly after that we were getting
00:04:34
in the studio and starting to record
00:04:36
the record and i had this song and so it
00:04:38
went and i just
00:04:39
do the lyrical content and just kind of
00:04:42
the overall
00:04:43
vibe and energy of the song it just it
00:04:45
made a lot of musical sense
00:04:47
to me in my head to reach out to him
00:04:50
because i just thought that his
00:04:51
his very unique sound and kind of you
00:04:54
know the wizardry that he adds to
00:04:56
um his guitar could just really take the
00:04:59
song and elevate it to the next level
00:05:00
and uh i was correct so thanks tom
00:05:04
um i owe you one and uh i guess the
00:05:06
second part of this question is what
00:05:08
was the most challenging part of this
00:05:10
new way of shooting videos in covid
00:05:13
honestly just a lot of planning um it
00:05:15
was a lot like a lot of prep work to
00:05:17
make sure that
00:05:18
everyone was safe and like you know all
00:05:20
the protocols were taken
00:05:21
and to kind of um we actually kind of
00:05:24
tried to lump everything together so we
00:05:26
did we actually did three videos back to
00:05:28
back one of
00:05:29
which is 25 which is out so if you
00:05:31
haven't seen that check it out
00:05:32
and so it went obviously which is about
00:05:34
to premiere and then one other one which
00:05:36
i don't really want to give away yet but
00:05:38
um so there's more to come
00:05:40
so just stay tuned uh but i think we got
00:05:42
all i think we got out of it like all
00:05:44
you know scot-free and safe and stuff
00:05:46
knock on wood of course but um
00:05:48
it was uh it was a blast to be back in
00:05:49
new york city we did all of them
00:05:52
um there and it just you know i've been
00:05:54
in maine this whole
00:05:55
quarantine and so to get back to uh what
00:05:58
i consider my hometown
00:06:00
even if it was just for like a week and
00:06:02
a half um it felt really good
00:06:04
felt like a you know a little burst of
00:06:06
life and all this madness we've been
00:06:08
living in
00:06:09
um all righty let me move on to the next
00:06:12
one
00:06:13
um the album cover is quite strong
00:06:16
thank you uh who had this idea for the
00:06:20
album cover from
00:06:21
ariel mobson on twitter um well hey
00:06:24
ariel how are you
00:06:25
um the record cover came
00:06:30
me yes the idea came from me
00:06:33
um we shot it with the amazing danny
00:06:35
hastings he's the guy who actually
00:06:37
um also shot the album cover for going
00:06:40
to hell so it was really great to work
00:06:41
with him again
00:06:42
um kind of the same thing with
00:06:46
similar to videos you know anytime you
00:06:48
try to put a visual to music especially
00:06:50
with an album cover which is something
00:06:51
that's
00:06:52
you know very important to me it's you
00:06:54
spend so long making this
00:06:56
you know this music and this body of
00:06:58
work so how do you
00:07:00
how do you sum that up you know that
00:07:02
this very elaborate
00:07:03
long you know musical
00:07:06
artistic expression in one photograph
00:07:09
and that's always a challenge
00:07:11
um and something that i spend a lot of
00:07:13
time conceiving
00:07:15
um and really the kind of the concept
00:07:17
for the for the record
00:07:19
uh cover was rebirth
00:07:22
um and you know the kind of the concept
00:07:25
of your
00:07:26
you come into this world you know born
00:07:28
with nothing but your soul
00:07:29
and you leave with nothing but your soul
00:07:32
and kind of really trying to represent
00:07:34
that in an image that was pure
00:07:37
and honest and um thought-provoking and
00:07:41
you know has a lot of emotion
00:07:43
involved in it and it also you know that
00:07:45
was is very cool it was actually
00:07:47
a set that we built like the grave
00:07:49
itself is a that's a real grave
00:07:51
all the moss all the leaves like that's
00:07:53
all that detail that was there because
00:07:55
it was really important to me that
00:07:56
it was just a a very pure
00:08:00
photograph you know um i didn't want
00:08:02
anything to be kind of manipulated i
00:08:04
wanted it to be
00:08:05
um i don't know timeless and classic and
00:08:08
i'm obviously a huge pink floyd fan so i
00:08:10
always look to their covers
00:08:12
as inspiration anytime we do a an album
00:08:14
cover but um
00:08:16
it also kind of you know if you look at
00:08:17
it on the
00:08:20
on the left side of the album it's a
00:08:21
little darker and when you get to the
00:08:23
right like there's a little more light
00:08:24
coming in
00:08:25
the from the from that side and that is
00:08:27
kind of representative of the album
00:08:28
itself which
00:08:29
um is obviously not out yet but it does
00:08:32
the tracklisting is very important and
00:08:34
it does kind of represent that where it
00:08:35
starts
00:08:36
the album starts very heavy and very
00:08:38
dark and um
00:08:40
and about halfway through the album
00:08:41
there's this kind of musical shift
00:08:43
where it shows that there is you know
00:08:46
there is hope and there is light at the
00:08:47
end of
00:08:48
at the end of the tunnel so that's what
00:08:51
i was trying to kind of convey with the
00:08:52
album cover so
00:08:53
um thank you ariel for your question
00:08:56
um what time is it here oh oh my my
00:08:59
goodness
00:09:00
we only got five minutes till the video
00:09:02
um just let me
00:09:03
i'm only on like three questions i'm
00:09:05
sorry guys
00:09:06
uh to do what is your favorite track on
00:09:09
the new album
00:09:10
it's not out yet i can't pick a favorite
00:09:11
track they're all like my children
00:09:13
you really gotta listen to the whole
00:09:15
thing and um i'll let you guys decide
00:09:17
but i will say that i'm really excited
00:09:18
for y'all to hear
00:09:20
uh only live can save me now which
00:09:21
features the amazing matt cameron and
00:09:23
kim phil that one was
00:09:25
incredibly special um is incredibly
00:09:28
special to me and was it was
00:09:29
an amazing time recording that and uh
00:09:31
something i'm really really proud of
00:09:33
but i can't pick just one song that's
00:09:34
not fair you know i love all my children
00:09:37
equally
00:09:38
um okay
00:09:41
um see next question here
00:09:45
um how did it feel recording the album
00:09:47
and hearing the final product
00:09:49
from not nulliva on youtube
00:09:52
um you know i think recording you know
00:09:56
recording the album
00:09:57
we went through a lot um to make this
00:10:00
record when i say i poured everything i
00:10:02
have of myself into this album i i really
00:10:05
mean that like literally
00:10:06
figuratively emotionally it's all right
00:10:09
there in the music
00:10:10
um so the recording of it you know had a
00:10:13
lot of ups and downs because it's just where we
00:10:15
were at in life but when we
00:10:17
when we finally finished it and hearing
00:10:19
the final product was just
00:10:21
i don't know it's like this very
00:10:23
cathartic like a weight
00:10:24
that's lifted and it's i'm so so proud
00:10:26
of this album and uh
00:10:28
i just i can't believe i can't believe
00:10:30
that it's coming out and you know next
00:10:32
friday like it's
00:10:33
i feel like we've been sitting on it for
00:10:35
so long now at this point and i just i
00:10:36
can't wait for you guys to hear it
00:10:38
because i really
00:10:39
in my humble opinion i really do think
00:10:41
it's the best album we've ever made so i
00:10:43
just i'm really really
00:10:44
really excited um that's the only thing
00:10:47
i could think i'm just i'm so happy and
00:10:49
so proud of it and i just i can't wait
00:10:51
to share it with all of you
00:10:52
so all right i'm looking at the time
00:10:54
here and got a couple minutes left and
00:10:56
then videos coming up um
00:11:02
let me see here what i'm trying to find
00:11:04
a short question that isn't going to
00:11:06
take up too much time
00:11:07
um what song would you play first to
00:11:10
introduce tpr to someone new from
00:11:12
brian 10 on twitter
00:11:16
um i get asked that a lot and i don't
00:11:19
think i have a really good answer for it
00:11:21
i think i would probably say
00:11:24
start from the beginning like i'd
00:11:25
probably say star would light me up like
00:11:26
star would make me want to die
00:11:28
um and kind of go from there because i
00:11:31
don't think that you can kind of cherry
00:11:32
pick songs
00:11:33
out of a band's career especially the
00:11:36
way i i write and conceive albums it's it's
00:11:39
really about the whole the whole
00:11:42
spectrum um so if you want to get to know an
00:11:44
artist you really kind of have to delve
00:11:45
into their catalog so i'd probably like
00:11:47
you know chain you to chair and force
00:11:50
you to listen to all the records in
00:11:51
order
00:11:52
um so there there's my joke
00:11:56
um two minutes two minutes um
00:12:00
what'd you do let's see here um
00:12:04
who are some influences for you in the
00:12:06
band from john
00:12:08
j a f sports13 on twitter
00:12:11
hey john um influences for us i mean
00:12:16
if you know i mean the beatles
00:12:18
soundgarden led zeppelin
00:12:20
the who pink floyd um
00:12:24
i could just keep listing bands but you
00:12:25
know the greats like i kind of treat
00:12:27
music like food and i want to
00:12:29
i want to feed my mind and my soul with
00:12:31
um
00:12:33
the best and most sustaining substance
00:12:35
and so i kind of
00:12:36
stick to a lot of the classics because
00:12:38
hey they're called classics for a reason
00:12:41
um so yeah so thank you for your
00:12:44
question
00:12:45
um i think we only have about one minute
00:12:47
here and then i'm gonna have to get off
00:12:48
otherwise you won't be able to see the
00:12:50
video so
00:12:51
um i'm sorry i didn't get to sew many of
00:12:52
these this flew by really quickly
00:12:55
um i'm just i'm very excited to
00:12:58
introduce this video i'm very excited
00:13:00
that it's finally out and that you guys
00:13:02
are gonna be the first to see it so
00:13:03
thank you so much for tuning in with me
00:13:05
um
00:13:06
it was great to see all your questions
00:13:08
and um
00:13:09
just thank you guys so much for the
00:13:11
support through all of this and uh
00:13:13
i know we're living in very hard times
00:13:15
right now and it's very strange but just
00:13:17
hang in there it's gonna get better and
00:13:19
uh tauren will come back and we will be
00:13:21
playing shows and
00:13:22
i'm you know waiting for the day but it
00:13:24
will happen
00:13:25
so we can't wait to see you on the road
00:13:27
when that does happen and up until then
00:13:29
um
00:13:30
enjoy the new music video here it is
00:13:32
guys this is and so it went
00:13:35
by us
