00:00:00
hello and welcome this video is for
00:00:02
anybody who wants to sound more
00:00:04
beautiful when they sing so what we've
00:00:06
done here is we've created a seven day
00:00:08
journey that will help you to improve
00:00:10
your tone it'll help you to improve your
00:00:12
pitch and it will help you to add some
00:00:13
style and emotion to your singing so
00:00:16
we're not just going to be working on
00:00:17
exercises we're actually going to be
00:00:19
working on a song throughout this
00:00:20
process so that you can really hear the
00:00:22
results now this video is divided into
00:00:25
seven sections and it's meant to be
00:00:26
enjoyed over a seven day period so you
00:00:28
can really spend the time to practice
00:00:29
each skill and get comfortable with it
00:00:31
before moving on to the next but that
00:00:33
said you're welcome to enjoy as many of
00:00:34
the little segments in one sitting as
00:00:36
you would like um i've also included
00:00:39
some free goodies for you which i'm
00:00:40
going to explain in just a moment but
00:00:42
for now let's dive in
00:00:44
[Music]
00:00:48
first things first we need to establish
00:00:49
a baseline so this means that you're
00:00:51
going to have to sync so what i want you
00:00:53
to do is i want you to grab your phone i
00:00:55
want you to press the record button and
00:00:57
i want you to sing a song now in this
00:00:59
video we're gonna be working on this one
00:01:02
[Music]
00:01:15
but i
00:01:17
can't
00:01:19
help
00:01:21
falling in love
00:01:24
with
00:01:26
you
00:01:28
so i want you to sing that and i want
00:01:30
you to record yourself but the trick
00:01:32
here is i just want you to show up as
00:01:34
you are i don't want you to try to
00:01:35
change anything about your voice i don't
00:01:37
want you to judge yourself i just want
00:01:38
you to get a snapshot of how you sound
00:01:41
today and that can be really challenging
00:01:42
because recording yourself can feel
00:01:44
really vulnerable it can feel scary but
00:01:46
just remember we're here to improve and
00:01:47
we're here to create a more beautiful
00:01:48
voice so sing the song you can sing it
00:01:51
any key like record yourself
00:01:53
and then the hardest part is i want you
00:01:54
to listen back now when you're listening
00:01:56
back i want you remember we're not
00:01:58
judging our voices we're not being
00:02:00
negative but i do want you to pay
00:02:01
attention to two things
00:02:03
what do you like about the sound of your
00:02:05
voice and maybe what you don't like what
00:02:08
do you feel you could improve on
00:02:11
keep that in mind and you've done all of
00:02:13
the work you need to do for day one now
00:02:15
if you don't know can't help falling in
00:02:17
love no big deal you could really use
00:02:19
any song for this you could sing happy
00:02:20
birthday if you wanted to the main thing
00:02:21
is that you're just recording yourself
00:02:22
singing and the second thing i want to
00:02:24
add is we do have this song with a
00:02:27
backing track and multiple keys inside
00:02:28
the singeo members area so if you want
00:02:30
to check that out it's there for you
00:02:32
okay so go have fun singing and i'll see
00:02:34
you in day two
00:02:39
welcome back it is time to warm up and
00:02:42
wake up our voices so we're gonna be
00:02:43
learning a couple fun little exercises
00:02:45
that's just gonna make a huge
00:02:47
improvement in how the song sounds
00:02:48
immediately so we're going to be
00:02:50
starting with a hum now we don't have to
00:02:53
go
00:02:55
we can hum on the song that we're
00:02:57
working on so get ready to come along
00:03:00
with me keep relaxing the face just make
00:03:02
the sound
00:03:04
might tickle and vibrate in your nose
00:03:06
and your lips that's a good sign
00:03:09
take your breath
00:03:10
[Music]
00:03:23
gotta breathe
00:03:26
[Music]
00:03:31
[Applause]
00:03:36
[Music]
00:03:38
okay now the next step is we're going to
00:03:40
be doing something called a lip trill i
00:03:42
call it a bubble it's kind of like your
00:03:43
blowing bubbles and the reason for this
00:03:45
is it's going to actually help to
00:03:46
establish just the right breath flow
00:03:48
throughout the song and i want you to
00:03:49
try this with your fingers on your
00:03:51
cheeks it might make it a little easier
00:03:52
so just gently place your fingers where
00:03:54
your
00:03:55
teeth would be and go
00:03:57
we have a whole video on this we can
00:03:59
link below if you need a little extra
00:04:00
help but this is the idea i'm gonna put
00:04:02
my hands on the piano but you can keep
00:04:04
yours here if you find it helpful get a
00:04:06
good breath
00:04:07
here we
00:04:09
[Music]
00:04:12
go and breathe
00:04:20
this is harder than it looks
00:04:22
[Music]
00:04:35
so i think that one is it doesn't work
00:04:37
if you're laughing and it's also super
00:04:39
ridiculous so it's hard not to laugh but
00:04:42
the idea is that you're going to sing
00:04:43
through the song at least one time using
00:04:45
that bubble or that lip trill now the
00:04:48
third thing we're going to do to warm up
00:04:49
and wake up our voices is going to be
00:04:52
what i call like the puffy cheek so
00:04:53
you're going to fill your cheeks up full
00:04:54
of air like you're a puffer fish but
00:04:55
you're going to keep the air there
00:04:58
and you can feel i can feel the breath
00:04:59
on my hand so the air is still coming
00:05:01
out it's not here it's not
00:05:05
if i plug my nose there's no difference
00:05:07
you really have to work from your core
00:05:09
to do this and it feels kind of
00:05:11
challenging so just go with it you might
00:05:13
feel some cracks and flips along the way
00:05:15
don't stress about those just try to get
00:05:16
through the melody of this part of the
00:05:18
song let's do it together here we go
00:05:22
[Music]
00:05:41
[Applause]
00:05:47
so how did that feel was it challenging
00:05:49
if you were to say some words right now
00:05:51
you'll probably notice that your voice
00:05:52
feels different the experience of
00:05:54
talking has actually shifted and changed
00:05:56
a little bit so what i want to do next
00:05:58
is actually go back to singing the words
00:06:00
of the song
00:06:01
so here's just do it with me notice how
00:06:04
this feels
00:06:06
[Music]
00:06:12
only food
00:06:15
[Music]
00:06:17
make sure you're opening up your mouth
00:06:19
enough
00:06:25
falling in love
00:06:29
with
00:06:31
you
00:06:33
so now that we're warmed up and we are a
00:06:35
little more connected to the melody it's
00:06:37
going to sound better so it's not better
00:06:39
right out the gates and the other piece
00:06:41
of this puzzle for today anyways is
00:06:43
making sure you're creating the space
00:06:44
for the sound i can't stress this enough
00:06:46
new singers or singers that maybe don't
00:06:48
feel super confident with their voices
00:06:50
tend to sing here
00:06:51
[Music]
00:06:55
and then the sound is back in the nose
00:06:56
and the mouth doesn't open notice the
00:06:58
difference
00:06:59
wise
00:07:03
[Music]
00:07:05
and if you feel like you've lost it go
00:07:07
back
00:07:12
when you go to the words
00:07:15
[Music]
00:07:26
all right friends
00:07:27
that is day two so before you go
00:07:29
anywhere to do your practicing there's a
00:07:31
couple things i want you to know number
00:07:32
one i want you to go and do this whole
00:07:34
process over again so hum the song do
00:07:37
the bubble on the song and do the puffy
00:07:39
cheeks and then sing it acapella just
00:07:41
you and your voice now i told you i was
00:07:43
going to include some extra bonuses and
00:07:45
i have so below this video you're
00:07:47
actually going to find a few scales um
00:07:50
that you can download and sing these
00:07:51
exercises on so you can just download it
00:07:54
as an mp3 file you can press play and
00:07:55
you'll hear stuff like this and you can
00:07:58
hum or lip trill or
00:08:00
your way through those is just a little
00:08:02
added bonus now if you want to take that
00:08:04
even further i have also included a link
00:08:06
to a free trial for sengio so what that
00:08:09
means is you can access our practice
00:08:11
tool which makes all of these skills and
00:08:14
scale practice and exercise practice
00:08:15
super easy plus you'll be able to get to
00:08:17
the um backing track for can't help
00:08:19
falling in love so free trial link below
00:08:21
the video
00:08:22
now it's time for you to go practice so
00:08:24
do the things we just reviewed in day
00:08:26
two have fun with it remember to enjoy
00:08:29
this this is about the joy of singing
00:08:31
and i will see you in day three
00:08:37
all right day three let's talk about
00:08:39
pitch baby
00:08:41
okay this is gonna be such a fun day
00:08:42
because we're gonna be doing probably
00:08:44
the ugliest most horrible exercises
00:08:46
you've ever heard but i promise there's
00:08:48
a point to them and they're gonna
00:08:49
improve your pitch so we're gonna spend
00:08:51
some time making terrible sounds
00:08:53
and then we will go back to singing our
00:08:54
song and we'll make it pretty now the
00:08:56
reason for this is if you want to sound
00:08:58
beautiful when you sing you need to have
00:09:00
accurate pitch and to have accurate
00:09:02
pitch there needs to be a cooperation
00:09:04
between what your brain is asking for
00:09:06
and what your vocal cords with these
00:09:08
muscles are capable of doing so to
00:09:10
practice this we can do kind of an ugly
00:09:12
aggressive exercise
00:09:14
so i want you to do this
00:09:16
[Music]
00:09:19
we're literally just singing the melody
00:09:21
of this song with an ugly sounding app
00:09:24
my tongue is down and forward i'm almost
00:09:26
thinking i'm kind of like ah bratty and
00:09:28
the notes are short so you sing it and
00:09:30
come right off
00:09:31
so we're gonna go
00:09:33
[Music]
00:09:46
i
00:09:52
so you can repeat that as many times as
00:09:54
you like but you want to feel like
00:09:57
those notes are easy to find i'm trying
00:09:58
for them and i'm hitting them now the
00:10:00
next step is we can actually close our
00:10:03
mouths and do a creaky ugly sound like
00:10:04
this
00:10:07
it's not supposed to be loud because
00:10:09
that'll probably feel tense just touch
00:10:12
the note
00:10:15
[Music]
00:10:28
okay now that you have practiced some of
00:10:31
those pitch accuracy techniques i want
00:10:34
you to come back to your song and this
00:10:36
time we're going to actually sing it on
00:10:37
a ridiculous word
00:10:39
we're going to sing it on gug
00:10:42
so g-u-g
00:10:44
and please let go of any attempt to make
00:10:46
this pretty because it's impossible
00:10:48
we'll do that as the next step so i just
00:10:50
want this
00:10:53
[Music]
00:11:10
go
00:11:12
[Music]
00:11:17
sing the song as you normally would
00:11:20
allow yourself to trust that you've
00:11:21
created some muscle memory on those
00:11:23
pitches
00:11:25
here we go three
00:11:26
four
00:11:27
[Music]
00:11:38
it's all you from here
00:11:41
[Music]
00:11:54
how did that go so there you go you have
00:11:56
lots of practice so spend some time with
00:11:58
those ugly terrible awful exercises
00:12:01
developing that pitch accuracy on those
00:12:03
notes and then go back to singing it and
00:12:05
just notice if you feel more connected
00:12:06
to the melody and you find a greater
00:12:08
sense of ease as you sing through it now
00:12:10
in the next lesson or the next day we're
00:12:12
going to be looking at tone and i'm so
00:12:15
excited to dive into this with you
00:12:18
because you improve your tone you're
00:12:20
going to sound more beautiful see you
00:12:21
there
00:12:26
all right
00:12:27
tone tone is everything a tone the way
00:12:30
that the nuance the texture of your
00:12:32
voice like let me just demonstrate if i
00:12:34
sing like this
00:12:36
[Music]
00:12:38
say it's just not gonna sound very good
00:12:40
it's very nasally i could go this way
00:12:42
too
00:12:43
[Music]
00:12:47
that's terrible tone nobody wants to
00:12:48
listen to that
00:12:49
so you will find that you're able to
00:12:52
improve your sound when you learn how to
00:12:54
feel the sound in your body and i think
00:12:56
as singers that's the most important
00:12:57
thing is to be able to notice how does
00:12:59
this sound feel where is it and can i
00:13:01
move it around to make it more enjoyable
00:13:04
so the first step towards this is just
00:13:06
sort of practicing with some different
00:13:07
feelings i want you to experience
00:13:09
what it feels like to make a bratty
00:13:11
sound so
00:13:13
just pretend like you're a sheep for a
00:13:15
moment and go ba
00:13:16
make it ugly
00:13:19
um i call this bratty because it sounds
00:13:21
kind of bratty like spongebob almost
00:13:25
notice how that feels
00:13:27
now we're going to reverse it so i want
00:13:28
you to do this with me as well
00:13:30
we're going to flip this around and make
00:13:32
it what i will call dopey so the this is
00:13:35
your larynx so your vocal cords lift
00:13:36
we're gonna go oh and move it down it's
00:13:38
like a yawning if you are patrick from
00:13:41
spongebob that's how you talk so you can
00:13:44
sing wise man i feel like elvis actually
00:13:46
that's hilarious
00:13:48
[Music]
00:13:54
that's what a dopey sound is like and
00:13:57
we're not going to sing our song like
00:13:59
this but it's important to know how
00:14:00
these things feel so that if you're
00:14:02
singing and you're like well i sound
00:14:04
kind of nasally maybe you bring it to a
00:14:06
little bit more of like a dopier
00:14:08
sensation and you know how to do that
00:14:10
now because you know how it feels or
00:14:11
maybe you're like it sounds like wise
00:14:14
men say too light and breathy maybe add
00:14:17
a little bit of that bratty wise just to
00:14:20
help you connect you see how this works
00:14:22
so another great way to play with this
00:14:24
is by saying the word
00:14:27
na
00:14:28
na
00:14:29
you feel how the end brings all of the
00:14:31
sound forward in your face
00:14:35
and it encourages that bratty sound
00:14:37
alright so let's try experimenting with
00:14:39
how sound feels in our body by using a
00:14:41
different word this time i want you to
00:14:43
say the word no
00:14:45
i've said that where before have you
00:14:46
said lower before so we're gonna say no
00:14:49
no
00:14:51
notice what happens when you sing into
00:14:53
the end it brings the sound forward to
00:14:55
the front of your face
00:14:56
and it makes it nasally
00:14:59
now let's put a g in front of the letter
00:15:00
o and we're going to say the word go
00:15:02
go
00:15:03
go
00:15:04
go
00:15:05
notice how it's further back now
00:15:08
your tongue is coming up at the back of
00:15:10
your mouth completely different feeling
00:15:13
so what this all means is that the words
00:15:15
you think the consonants and the vowels
00:15:17
work together to create a different sort
00:15:19
of tone a different sound experience so
00:15:23
i want you to sing the song again and i
00:15:25
want you to pay attention to how it
00:15:27
feels on each and every word so slow it
00:15:29
down
00:15:31
[Music]
00:15:34
meh might bring you to your nose so then
00:15:36
you can just think oh i'm gonna relax
00:15:38
i'm gonna open up and sing to the uh
00:15:41
[Music]
00:15:52
did you see i smiled there a little bit
00:15:54
and it made the sound feel brighter was
00:15:57
darker
00:15:58
but i
00:16:00
can't
00:16:02
help
00:16:04
falling
00:16:05
in
00:16:06
love with
00:16:09
you
00:16:12
so now would be a really good time to
00:16:13
record yourself singing this again
00:16:15
because you'll feel the sound in your
00:16:17
body differently because you are the
00:16:19
instrument that sounds vibrating in your
00:16:21
physical body when you listen back on a
00:16:23
recording you'll that's why people are
00:16:24
like that's not me i don't sound like
00:16:25
that well you do but you're just not
00:16:27
feeling it when you listen back so
00:16:29
record yourself and listen back and
00:16:30
notice are you nasally are you breathy
00:16:34
if you are nasally make sure that you
00:16:36
think maybe of how it felt to be a
00:16:38
little more dopey if you're too breathy
00:16:40
maybe try to add a little bit of that
00:16:42
bratty sensation back into the mix and
00:16:44
see if it improves your sound quality
00:16:47
this day is all about just experimenting
00:16:50
so if all you come out of this day with
00:16:52
is you've experimented with some really
00:16:54
goofy sounds and now you know what it
00:16:56
feels like to be nasally now you know
00:16:57
what it feels like to be dopey what an
00:16:59
um sounds like what it feels like um
00:17:02
then you're winning because in the next
00:17:04
day we're gonna be taking all of this
00:17:06
and you're gonna probably see the
00:17:08
biggest improvement in your sound yet
00:17:11
because we're gonna apply it to how you
00:17:13
actually sing through the song focusing
00:17:15
on vowels and this is what will take
00:17:17
your singing from good or terrible to
00:17:20
incredible so i'll see you there
00:17:26
all right in this lesson we are going to
00:17:28
put everything we've learned so far into
00:17:29
practice and we're going to be really
00:17:31
messing with the vowels the shapes uh
00:17:34
because this is what's going to make
00:17:35
your sound amazing so when you're
00:17:37
singing just the first bit of the song
00:17:39
there's a few things that could happen
00:17:40
you could sing
00:17:41
wise the word wise
00:17:44
what is the vowel sound
00:17:47
or is it e
00:17:48
wise right a few different options
00:17:52
as a singer you get to look at a word
00:17:55
and make decisions about what part of
00:17:57
that word you want to sing into
00:17:59
if you sing into the w ooh you're
00:18:01
getting nowhere if you sing into that
00:18:03
wise you're not going to get your fully
00:18:06
formed word if you sing into the wise
00:18:09
you're going to sound a bit silly
00:18:11
so you need to make a decision about
00:18:13
what's going to help this to sound the
00:18:14
best so i'm going to suggest here
00:18:18
that the e feels wrong and a big wide wa
00:18:21
sounds wrong so let's meet in the middle
00:18:24
[Music]
00:18:26
i'm focusing on an uh
00:18:28
and i'm letting it move a little bit to
00:18:30
e at the end
00:18:32
[Music]
00:18:34
and then the next one man
00:18:38
if i stay on the meh it's getting on my
00:18:40
nose so i have to be very careful of
00:18:43
that i'm thinking e the vowel there i'm
00:18:45
focusing on is e my tongue is down and
00:18:48
forward to create good space for that
00:18:50
meh
00:18:52
now a great way to test if this man is
00:18:54
getting stuck in your nose
00:18:56
to plug your nose because you'll notice
00:18:58
the m requires the use of your nose it's
00:19:00
going to go
00:19:02
but as soon as you open into the e or
00:19:04
the e
00:19:05
it should move out of the nose watch
00:19:07
man
00:19:09
it wasn't men
00:19:11
that's what we don't want if that's
00:19:12
happening you need a little more energy
00:19:14
to get that sound out or maybe to drop
00:19:16
your jaw down a bit more so you could
00:19:18
try
00:19:19
that's the feeling
00:19:22
there you are so put that together
00:19:26
[Music]
00:19:32
so notice what's happening on the word
00:19:34
say
00:19:35
i'm kind of in e
00:19:41
i'm creating the path of least
00:19:44
resistance as i move between these words
00:19:47
[Music]
00:19:55
my jaw's down i'm thinking very narrow
00:19:59
i'm not singing the l because that would
00:20:00
make this fool
00:20:02
l will stop the sound i'm singing fooze
00:20:05
only fools
00:20:09
rush not rash
00:20:11
rush
00:20:18
fools but i i'm not saying but i
00:20:23
that t is aggressive it's an aggressive
00:20:25
interrupter of our sound so i'm saying
00:20:28
but i
00:20:31
can't help
00:20:39
[Music]
00:20:41
i'm not love or love
00:20:44
love
00:20:48
with
00:20:50
you
00:20:51
narrow again
00:20:53
so with a little bit of attention to the
00:20:56
shapes that i'm making
00:20:57
combined with the work that i've done on
00:21:00
pitch and warming up my voice and
00:21:02
understanding how sound feels in my body
00:21:04
i'm able to make decisions about what
00:21:06
parts of these words i want to focus on
00:21:08
to get the best sound out of my voice
00:21:10
so there really isn't one size fits all
00:21:14
for this
00:21:15
you have to experiment but i hope that
00:21:17
seeing me go through this process has
00:21:19
kind of caused some light bulbs to go
00:21:21
off and i want you to experiment with
00:21:23
what happens if you sing a word this way
00:21:25
what happens if you relax your jaw down
00:21:27
what happens if you reshape it or focus
00:21:28
on a different part of the sound um play
00:21:31
with it record yourself do a few
00:21:33
different versions and then pick out
00:21:34
what you love best
00:21:36
and repeat that all right have fun
00:21:38
practicing this and i will see you in
00:21:40
day six
00:21:41
where we are going to talk about style
00:21:44
so it'll be like
00:21:45
[Music]
00:21:48
just joking that's a little dramatic but
00:21:50
we're going to talk about how you can
00:21:51
add your own style i'll see you there
00:21:57
all right let's talk about style one of
00:21:58
the fastest ways to add some style to a
00:22:00
song is by messing with the phrasing so
00:22:03
for example if i were to say wise men
00:22:06
say only fools rushed in but i can't
00:22:07
help falling in love with you there's
00:22:08
not a lot of character there but i
00:22:10
already say wise men say
00:22:13
only fools
00:22:15
rush
00:22:16
in
00:22:17
whoa suddenly i'm making a statement
00:22:19
so as a singer you get to experiment
00:22:21
with different phrasings different ways
00:22:23
you put together the ebbs and the flows
00:22:26
of the song's melody and lyrics
00:22:28
so you could sing
00:22:31
[Music]
00:22:38
only fools
00:22:43
i'm being kind of silly there but i
00:22:45
wanted you to see a dramatic example
00:22:47
now if i were doing this i might
00:22:50
in in seriousness i might do something
00:22:51
more like this why
00:22:55
[Music]
00:23:08
but i
00:23:10
can't
00:23:12
help notice how i sort of changed where
00:23:14
i said those words it wasn't
00:23:16
i
00:23:17
can't
00:23:19
help it was i
00:23:23
can't
00:23:24
help
00:23:25
it just it causes the listener to go oh
00:23:28
that wasn't what i was expecting
00:23:30
so the trick here when you're sort of
00:23:31
experimenting with phrasing is to be
00:23:33
subtle enough that it's not like what
00:23:34
are they doing to my favorite song
00:23:36
um
00:23:37
and
00:23:38
give enough of a change that the
00:23:39
listener goes that was a little bit
00:23:41
different it's not what i was expecting
00:23:42
but i think i like it
00:23:44
so my favorite way to play with this is
00:23:46
to actually lean into the ridiculous
00:23:49
and just try to sing it three different
00:23:50
ways totally different ways so that's
00:23:52
step one of your homework another really
00:23:55
simple way to add some style and flair
00:23:57
is to embellish your melody just a tiny
00:23:59
bit so i can do this right out the gates
00:24:01
instead of thinking why is men
00:24:03
[Music]
00:24:11
[Music]
00:24:16
only
00:24:19
[Music]
00:24:26
[Music]
00:24:29
now there's kind of this moment here
00:24:31
before i need to go into the next little
00:24:32
bit so i can hum something so if i go
00:24:40
[Music]
00:24:53
[Music]
00:24:57
because i just added like a little bit
00:24:58
extra now you can use this a little or
00:25:01
you can use it a lot that is up to you
00:25:03
and what feels really good and authentic
00:25:04
but
00:25:05
don't be afraid to take some risks you
00:25:07
know the ability to pick really natural
00:25:09
sounding add-ons comes at a cost like
00:25:12
you're going to sing some that sound
00:25:13
pretty terrible to find the ones that
00:25:15
you like the sound of so just start with
00:25:17
that one at the beginning why so you've
00:25:19
got it right there
00:25:20
now one more thing i want to give you
00:25:22
for your toolbox in this lesson anyway
00:25:25
is vocal fry so this sound ah
00:25:29
that's vocal fry so you can put that
00:25:31
sort of on some of your words so i could
00:25:33
sing it really pure
00:25:34
[Music]
00:25:39
or i could add some vocal fry
00:25:41
why
00:25:43
is the
00:25:44
men say
00:25:46
that say
00:25:48
i'll do it on the word only
00:25:50
only
00:25:52
fools
00:25:54
rush i'm exaggerating a bit but you're
00:25:57
hearing it it's at the beginning of some
00:26:00
of my words in
00:26:02
wise men say only you have to be careful
00:26:05
with this too much of it will not sound
00:26:06
good but sparingly it just adds this
00:26:08
little like oh a little bit of interest
00:26:11
to what you're doing
00:26:12
so there you've got some ideas you've
00:26:14
got some options you can play with how
00:26:15
you're putting your phrases together you
00:26:17
can add little bits of runs and riffs
00:26:19
here and there and you can use vocal fry
00:26:21
however much or little you'd like to
00:26:24
style this in a way that feels really
00:26:25
good to you
00:26:27
so
00:26:28
practice this experiment try a few
00:26:30
different things find what you like
00:26:32
and i will see you in day seven
00:26:39
all right we have made it to day seven
00:26:42
of our vocal transformation so this is
00:26:44
the fun part this is where we are going
00:26:46
to lean into
00:26:48
our feelings so
00:26:50
the difference between a good singer and
00:26:53
a great singer believe it or not it's
00:26:55
not vocal technique
00:26:57
it's not raw talent it is the ability to
00:27:00
tell a story that is believable
00:27:04
so
00:27:05
when you approach a song and you have no
00:27:07
feeling that you're conveying
00:27:09
wise men say
00:27:14
only fools it's not it's not going to be
00:27:17
impactful take a moment tell yourself a
00:27:20
story about the song
00:27:22
what does it mean to you who does it
00:27:24
make you think of
00:27:25
i always joke about this song that i
00:27:27
sing it to my dog my puppy roads he
00:27:30
loves this song every time i sing it he
00:27:31
jumps up on the piano bench and these
00:27:33
snuggles so that just conjures up all
00:27:35
these like loving feelings so i'm gonna
00:27:37
hold on to that
00:27:39
and notice how it influences my sound if
00:27:42
i really believe it
00:27:43
so
00:27:49
is
00:27:52
[Music]
00:27:59
[Music]
00:28:09
falling in
00:28:11
love with
00:28:14
you
00:28:16
totally different experience didn't
00:28:18
matter that there were little cracky
00:28:20
moments in my voice i was engaged in
00:28:22
what i was doing and i was reliving a
00:28:24
feeling and it felt awesome
00:28:26
so this is super important for you too
00:28:29
you need to find a story that you can
00:28:30
connect to for me it was just my dog or
00:28:32
just knowing this epic love story but it
00:28:34
could be somebody you love it could be a
00:28:36
feeling you had when you went on a walk
00:28:38
and the breeze was just right um find a
00:28:41
space that you can go into mentally and
00:28:43
convey that emotion through your voice
00:28:44
you'd be amazed at how
00:28:46
you don't have to really think about it
00:28:48
when you're feeling something it's going
00:28:49
to be reflected in the way you express
00:28:51
vocally it's so cool
00:28:53
so part two of this because we're on day
00:28:55
seven is i want you to
00:28:57
with that feeling record yourself
00:28:58
singing again
00:29:00
and then i want you to listen back i
00:29:02
want you to compare side by side day one
00:29:04
to day seven and notice the difference
00:29:06
look how far you've come
00:29:08
so that's it my friends um thank you so
00:29:11
much for being a part of this journey
00:29:12
with me
00:29:13
i would really really really love to
00:29:15

00:29:17
goals so
00:29:19

linked below this video um you can get
00:29:23
direct support from myself and our other
00:29:25
teachers here at cenio but even more
00:29:27
importantly than that i think it's the
00:29:28
community that we have here i think as
00:29:30
singers we need support and
00:29:32
encouragement and feedback and we have
00:29:34
an entire community of amazing singers
00:29:36
that would love to hear your recording
00:29:38
of this song and be your biggest
00:29:40
cheerleaders so take advantage of the
00:29:42
seven day trial it's free what do you
00:29:44
got to lose um enjoy singing comment
00:29:47
below and let me know what your favorite
00:29:49

We can’t prove it, but we’d be willing to bet on it. With a background in classical and contemporary vocal training and a love for popular music, Lisa Witt focuses on helping her students uncover their own, unique sound and develop their voice with simple routines and tips for faster results. Her personal singing journey started filled with intimidation and fear about “singing out loud”. Lisa’s desire to find confidence led her to discover HOW her voice works (physically) and gained newfound confidence and passion to perform in her discoveries that she now shares in her lessons. Lisa is a singer-songwriter who values singing as a therapeutic release for communicating harder emotions.
