00:00:08
hello dear viewers and listeners,
00:00:10
we continue to move through the history of
00:00:13
war cinema and, by popular
00:00:15
demand, we are moving on to a review of
00:00:19
the film which, for many
00:00:22
directors who shoot on military
00:00:24
themes, has become, frankly speaking, a bar that is
00:00:27
truly unattainable for many,
00:00:29
although the film was made 20 turns out four
00:00:32
years ago and we will,
00:00:35
of course, talk about the film Saving Private
00:00:37
Ryan about which there are still debates
00:00:39
and help us understand how
00:00:44
important this film is for understanding the
00:00:46
history of war cinema in general why it is
00:00:48
constantly remembered by the way, for
00:00:50
example, the minister recently recalled it
00:00:53
our Medinsky when he planned to
00:00:58
help make a film about Zoya
00:01:00
Kosmodemyanskaya when the wax grass
00:01:02
was saved and who will save Zoya not so
00:01:05
long ago
00:01:06
Mikhalkov was filming his masterpiece, also
00:01:09
focusing on the fact that we need to make a
00:01:11
movie comparable to the salvation of ordinary
00:01:13
Ryan, so what will help in this film is so
00:01:15
special you and I
00:01:17
understand Vladimir Zaytsev Vladimir I
00:01:19
welcome the person today Vladimir and I are
00:01:21
over and because today we have such an
00:01:24
important review of the film this one has been watched
00:01:26
a large number of times I’ve probably seen it
00:01:29
ten times you probably I think that a little
00:01:31
less in the mother was enough for him let’s
00:01:33
talk today about three contours of this
00:01:36
movie, we will talk today about why
00:01:38
this film worked so well, why it
00:01:41
remained in the history of war cinema,
00:01:43
we will talk about blunders, where would we be without them, and
00:01:46
of course, at the end we will talk about the fact
00:01:48
that the film, despite everything in its
00:01:51
ideological content, is like this strangely enough,
00:01:53
it leaves far behind most
00:01:55
Russian films about the war, yes,
00:01:57
absolutely, well, probably a few words we
00:02:00
will say, we usually start with this,
00:02:02
Vladimir, we have a guest in this,
00:02:04
maybe he doesn’t know that we start with
00:02:06
what year this film was released and the
00:02:08
year is 90 the eighth year, frankly speaking, was not
00:02:12
easy, various events took place, a terrorist attack
00:02:14
in the Moscow metro and
00:02:17
the denomination of us that began, but in fact for
00:02:19
world history this is a continuation of the triumph of the
00:02:22
United States, which crushed the cold and non-
00:02:24
Soviet union, as we know, and this film is a
00:02:28
film, let’s say, which opens a
00:02:31
series of
00:02:33
triumphal dates in the history of the American
00:02:37
army, first of all, regarding the landing in
00:02:40
Normandy, yes, it talks about Operation
00:02:42
Overlord on June 6, 1944, and yes, I
00:02:46
agree that 1998 was
00:02:49
also a difficult year for the United States, because
00:02:51
for example, in 1996, the
00:02:52
United States faced al-Qaeda in
00:02:54
famous terrorist
00:02:56
attacks in Africa,
00:02:58
mass shootings began at that time,
00:03:01
for example, shootings in American
00:03:04
cities, a famous former Marine declared
00:03:07
himself, that is, the same situation in the United States was
00:03:09
turbulent, but it was necessary to
00:03:11
represent its history;
00:03:20
technically, of course, he fell above
00:03:23
not only Russian films but also
00:03:25
Soviet ones, it must be said precisely in the
00:03:27
accuracy of the depiction of military equipment,
00:03:30
especially armored vehicles of both allies
00:03:33
and opponents, in any case,
00:03:35
more attempts
00:03:36
at authenticity, what do you think, these five
00:03:39
Oscars that he won, he deservedly
00:03:41
won I think that absolutely deservedly there are no
00:03:43
doubts here, there is no directing,
00:03:46
directing is quite interesting and the
00:03:49
approach from the point of view of filming is to blame for
00:03:52
evil and combat, I can’t say that they are
00:03:55
completely and innovative because for
00:03:57
example, there was a lot of innovation in
00:03:58
Soviet cinema, even in The
00:04:00
Cranes Are Flying, the camera was used very
00:04:03
interesting, but here it all just came together:
00:04:07
immersion in the abyss of battle, here it
00:04:09
was possible, from my point of view, here
00:04:12
it was possible to show both the landing operation
00:04:13
and the city accordion world and a
00:04:16
random event during the war, for
00:04:19
example, Nikita Mikhalkov said
00:04:21
that his famous film performance
00:04:23
is a certain shoulder of the gods in the war, but
00:04:26
then he said this already, this is a good
00:04:28
documentary for you, and then this is a
00:04:30
documentary of the pure, of course it
00:04:32
became a parable, this collection of popular popular
00:04:35
pictures from apple is very expensive for the cost, dear
00:04:38
friend, although of course it’s less than the
00:04:40
salvation of an ordinary Ryan, but how much
00:04:42
quality cannot be compared no way there
00:04:44
really were historical consultants here,
00:04:50
a lot of intellectual work was done here this
00:04:53
film can be called historical
00:04:55
it is good from the point of view of sound from the point
00:04:57
of view of cinematography the
00:04:59
acting is somewhat more difficult for me
00:05:02
to evaluate this is beyond
00:05:05
our own competence and that’s why it is for us
00:05:09
to discuss historical aspects most
00:05:12
likely, well, at the beginning, yes, but let's go over
00:05:14
the plot, we have a standard
00:05:16
operation, the film begins with the
00:05:20
fact that the old man played by the actor
00:05:23
Harrison Young, by the way, really looks
00:05:25
like Matt Damon, it really is so,
00:05:28
the eyes are exactly the same, he
00:05:31
visits the cemetery with his family, famous in Calville sur
00:05:33
mer this is one of the largest
00:05:35
cemeteries of American soldiers who
00:05:38
died during the landing in Normandy, the
00:05:40
famous green field is
00:05:42
dotted with white obelisks, usually
00:05:45
crosses, although it shows, for example,
00:05:46
Magendavid to the Star of David from at least one of the
00:05:50
Islamic symbols, also a crescent moon
00:05:53
is found there, although occasionally yes, this
00:05:56
old man in surrounded by a fairly large
00:05:58
family, he approaches one of the tombstones and
00:06:02
falls crying and
00:06:04
takes us after that to the year 44,
00:06:08
just on the day of D-day,
00:06:11
quite by the way, a spectacular reception from my
00:06:14
point of view, by the way, in the beginning
00:06:16
they show that same famous
00:06:18
Rommel asparagus, that is, not strengthening the
00:06:22
barriers since the Atlantic
00:06:25
Wall, which must be said, was not completed at
00:06:26
all, and in general we must remember that
00:06:29
just on day D the main German
00:06:32
group was awaiting a
00:06:34
breakthrough through the pas de Calais, they were across the English Channel
00:06:36
and this is a known mistake, but where
00:06:39
However, to me, nevertheless,
00:06:41
many who watched this film from the
00:06:43
post-Soviet space noted that if
00:06:45
you watch it, it is not clear what our
00:06:47
soldiers did at Stalingrad, there were
00:06:49
such battles there, it should still probably
00:06:51
be noted that this second front,
00:06:53
which was waited for so long on our
00:06:56
Soviet front before it they didn’t
00:06:58
open it for a long time, they want to find it, you
00:07:00
said correctly that the Atlantic Wall was not
00:07:02
completed, it must be said that it was not
00:07:04
practically built and at the end of the forty-
00:07:07
third year, that is, it was possible to
00:07:09
open the 2nd front in the forty-second year and in the
00:07:11
forty-third year, and the allies constantly
00:07:13
postponed it in the forty-third year this is Sicily
00:07:16
in the future with ed Italy is also important
00:07:18
important but this is not health Ron this is not a
00:07:20
full-fledged second front this is certainly not the
00:07:22
invasion of Europe that everyone
00:07:24
expected and by the way, here
00:07:26
the question immediately arises about the allies of the United States,
00:07:30
usually critics of Spielberg’s film
00:07:32
naturally say that and where are the
00:07:34
Soviet fighters, for example, but here is also a
00:07:37
question in nature, the British for the fighters,
00:07:40
let’s for example look at those amphibians
00:07:43
that are used for the landing, here
00:07:45
they show the LCP amphibian, which was
00:07:49
actually used during the
00:07:50
landing in Normandy at Maga Beach exactly
00:07:53
there, but the only thing is that they they were not
00:07:56
in the first wave of landings, not in the first
00:07:58
wave, but in reality they used for the
00:08:00
first wave the British Elsie boats at
00:08:03
that time, the so-called Higgins boats,
00:08:06
they appeared later, and that is, those who
00:08:08
controlled these amphibians were
00:08:11
British soldiers, and what’s more in the first
00:08:12
wave here you can was to show the heroism of the
00:08:15
British soldiers because they not
00:08:17
only drove, they again
00:08:19
provided machine-gun cover, in
00:08:21
any case they tried to do it
00:08:23
during the landing in this regard, the game Call
00:08:26
of Duty 2 is much more historical because
00:08:29
there is a British soldier the driver of this
00:08:31
amphibious display, but then well to call of
00:08:34
duty things also 101 series, here in the mouth is
00:08:37
just the second world war there, too, it’s
00:08:40
all reproduced exactly from this
00:08:43
film, that is, they are in the second
00:08:45
part of call of duty, by the way, at least
00:08:48
they show another location, it’s pon de choc when
00:08:51
they had to be sewn on the American troops
00:08:53
to climb the rocks 27 meters and for a
00:08:56
second it was a much more complex
00:08:58
operation
00:08:59
than on Omaha Beach and here too on maho
00:09:02
beach of course everything is built around the
00:09:06
visual reproduction of the event
00:09:09
is inaccurate for example there are some
00:09:10
inaccuracies although I think that the battle is shown
00:09:14
very well but the inaccuracy
00:09:16
lies the main thing is that they were able to launch
00:09:18
an attack just the way to the
00:09:21
enemy’s positions, not in the first wave,
00:09:23
but the American soldiers who
00:09:25
landed in this sector, and already when the
00:09:28
third wave arrived, it’s no coincidence that
00:09:30
Captain Miller says that
00:09:33
you know us too little, after all,
00:09:35
the director is here Spielberg he had to show
00:09:38
overcoming the American troops
00:09:41
because if you take a look at what the
00:09:43
Berlov Overlord operation was for
00:09:45
a second, almost one and a half million
00:09:48
American soldiers from the allies against
00:09:51
only
00:09:53
380 thousand German troops, well, a million
00:09:56
throughout France, that is, from literally in
00:09:58
Picardy to Normandy before it was located, but
00:10:01
such numerical superiority was
00:10:03
justified, and then it became even more
00:10:05
something that by September it was already up to
00:10:09
2 million, well, of course it
00:10:12
was absolutely correct, even 2 8 2 million 800
00:10:14
thousand is a good and correct tactic
00:10:16
of an ally because it is necessary to exceed the natural
00:10:18
enemy in numbers
00:10:20
in order to carry out a successful landing
00:10:22
operation, again, their rescue of an ordinary
00:10:24
ryan and in many other cultural
00:10:26
products it is shown that this operation also
00:10:28
involved the airborne
00:10:30
naval participation, but
00:10:32
it would also be there; it would also be there in the future, but it will be, but I
00:10:35
must say, despite to the fact that this
00:10:37
battle, the landing, is shown as simply the
00:10:40
quintessence of human grief,
00:10:42
cruelty, this is a man who lost
00:10:44
his arm and is looking for this is a man whom the
00:10:47
captain, for example, is trying to drag away,
00:10:49
came by the way correctly, he is still
00:10:51
doing this, he takes him along the street and drags him along with
00:10:54
him to this day is part of
00:10:56
the method of transporting the wounded he is
00:10:59
killed just about me, the soldier
00:11:01
who takes it off is wounded again in his helmet, the bullet doesn’t
00:11:04
penetrate him and he takes off, his head is
00:11:06
hit by a bullet yes yes there he will be resurrected
00:11:08
by the way and even he will even help me and he will
00:11:11
help and somehow broke but interesting
00:11:13
although of course there are a lot of such blunders, all three
00:11:15
throws from a bullet, for example 792,
00:11:18
would not have helped in any way, I must say honestly, only
00:11:20
from shrapnel from shrapnel article the
00:11:22
American helmet helped like any
00:11:24
other in general on all fronts of the Second
00:11:26
World War, when helmets were put on, the
00:11:29
percentage of losses was sharply reduced, so it
00:11:32
yes, the thing is that in reality it
00:11:34
was much more difficult to make a breakthrough,
00:11:36
and in fact they were separated from the enemy’s position by
00:11:40
about two hundred yards, that is, a
00:11:42
little less than 200 meters, and this zone is
00:11:44
ken sorry for the va fire on the other side
00:11:47
here too, I have to tell you there is
00:11:50
one assumption on the part of the director is
00:11:53
shooting from the famous machine of the
00:11:57
famous machine gun mg 42 of the Germans, an
00:12:01
Arab machine eats a machine that could
00:12:03
saw through a person and that’s why
00:12:06
it was sometimes called Hitler’s saw, it happened like a
00:12:09
cooler, well, to be honest, any machine gun of
00:12:11
this caliber, including the Maxim, could be
00:12:13
guaranteed that sawing through
00:12:16
a person, hitting a bone, the person was
00:12:18
guaranteed to lose his arm, in fact, if
00:12:21
he was just unlucky, but the fact is that
00:12:23
they shoot in very long bursts, and
00:12:26
this was precisely forbidden in the German army on that
00:12:29
section of the front
00:12:32
because the barrel gets hot. The
00:12:34
mg-42 has an air-cooled barrel
00:12:37
when firing and it was necessary to
00:12:40
change the barrels during the shooting, but during the
00:12:42
counteraction of the enemy landing it was
00:12:45
quite difficult to do this because
00:12:47
in reality the Germans fired in
00:12:49
very short bursts and a bet of 100
00:12:51
was placed on the fire card, basically they were
00:12:54
just watering down the ends, strictly
00:12:57
speaking, because that everything there was
00:12:59
targeted in advance, the
00:13:01
firing sectors were determined in advance and they
00:13:03
converged with each other, everything
00:13:05
was organized well, but by the way, the artillery and
00:13:08
naval aviation worked very
00:13:10
well and the density of German fire
00:13:12
was significantly reduced, although at
00:13:15
Omaha Beach and I read that, on the contrary, they
00:13:17
criticized that they did not work much
00:13:19
but on the other hand, let’s remember
00:13:21
that the Americans very often said
00:13:24
that let’s compare it with artillery
00:13:26
defense when we took the islands where the
00:13:29
Japanese settled in the Pacific Ocean, but there,
00:13:31
some islands
00:13:34
spat fire from these
00:13:35
long-range guns for so long that we even had to
00:13:37
redo some of the maps like the
00:13:40
famous rat seedlings, in the end I
00:13:42
found myself abandoned by the enemy, not
00:13:44
where the Japanese were, for some reason they
00:13:46
still continued to offer fierce
00:13:49
resistance, this is not a guarantee that
00:13:50
all points will be suppressed on the site in another
00:13:52
wonderful film letters from Iwo Jima
00:13:55
just shows changes in Japanese
00:13:57
tactics if before the defense of its winter, they want to say
00:14:00
this is also an inaccuracy; the Japanese
00:14:03
had the practice of setting up trenches right
00:14:06
on the sandy beach and therefore they suffered
00:14:08
losses from artillery immediately in this
00:14:11
film and in reality, by the way, it must also be
00:14:14
said that the Japanese were
00:14:16
much better prepared for its defense in winter, but there was a
00:14:17
conflict between the Japanese commanders, it’s
00:14:19
precisely about this that they need to act on the beach
00:14:21
and no, but these German
00:14:24
mistakes in repelling this offensive are
00:14:27
precisely that they concentrated
00:14:29
right on the coast, but there’s also
00:14:31
another mistake, I didn’t already say that the
00:14:34
main forces reserves that
00:14:36
were supposed to drop the
00:14:37
sea landing were on the pas de Calais, then they
00:14:39
began to attack the main
00:14:41
direction and this was the first
00:14:43
large-scale tank offensive
00:14:45
that was thwarted almost
00:14:48
exclusively by aviation in the same year, by the way,
00:14:50
forty-four, some
00:14:52
small time, already near Bobruisk,
00:14:54
Soviet aviation will stop the retreat of the
00:14:57
Germans, too, there will be the same episode, they
00:14:59
differ little chronologically, but
00:15:02
on time, and the main thing here is what you said, it
00:15:04
is necessary for our viewers to directly clarify that what
00:15:07
remains behind the scenes is actually the
00:15:09
brilliant work of American intelligence and
00:15:11
counterintelligence that forced the Germans
00:15:13
keeping the main units not where the
00:15:16
landing was supposed to be is very important, this is a
00:15:17
great huge success and a mistake by the Germans in
00:15:21
this and the transfer. By the way, about the battles here
00:15:23
we’ll talk about at least two points, but
00:15:25
naturally they show, for example,
00:15:27
grammar when soldiers fall into the sea,
00:15:31
they drown, they are overtaken by a bullet, this is good with from the
00:15:35
point of view of the picture, it’s dramatic, but in
00:15:37
reality, a bullet at such a depth
00:15:39
already loses its destructive power in reality,
00:15:41
Olivier, if it’s not that it’s a blunder, it’s an
00:15:44
attempt to beautifully depict the suffering
00:15:47
of people, basically during any crossing,
00:15:49
the losses are, first of all, not from the bullet from the
00:15:52
shrapnel in which they reach
00:15:54
a person is already in the water, but simply under the weight
00:15:57
of the equipment, by the way, in almost
00:15:59
all wars from the Middle Ages to
00:16:02
the present, about 40 kilograms per
00:16:04
person or about 30 naturally the soldier
00:16:07
goes to the bottom very quickly and it was difficult to get out of the
00:16:10
cold water to quickly remove the ammunition
00:16:13
by the way it is necessary to have quality Americans
00:16:15
say that they were comfortable and had
00:16:16
equipment, it was easy to unhook, but
00:16:19
still, in a strictly stressful
00:16:21
situation, there was cold water at that moment
00:16:24
anyway, a person who would
00:16:26
have been in it for more than half an hour would most likely have
00:16:29
died from hypothermia,
00:16:30
but although he might have been lucky
00:16:33
By the way, one more thing it has migrated to
00:16:35
computer games in all representations
00:16:37
in our common cultural type of
00:16:39
representation is, for example, flamethrowers
00:16:42
that burst into flames like a match,
00:16:45
so the fact is that before these
00:16:48
landing operations, the United States
00:16:50
tested just wearable
00:16:53
backpack flamethrowers to see if they could
00:16:56
ignite whether it was hit by non-
00:16:58
armor-piercing incendiary bullets and
00:17:01
it turned out that the non-armor-
00:17:04
piercing incendiary bullets did not transform from
00:17:06
the explosion of course the cylinder that
00:17:08
was behind the flamethrower’s back, sometimes
00:17:11
by the way this flamethrower example
00:17:13
later on the islands after it
00:17:15
penetrated and the fire mixture flowed out protected
00:17:18
its owner naturally when the
00:17:20
armor-piercing incendiary bullet it got
00:17:22
there and a fire happened
00:17:24
because, unlike an ordinary
00:17:26
bullet, it retains a high temperature and
00:17:29
can set fire to a guy using the fire mixture that
00:17:32
was used, but here’s another one for
00:17:33
you remember when a sniper shoots at a
00:17:36
machine gun near us at the nest, it seems to
00:17:38
burrow, also colorfully, but there’s a lip to
00:17:42
dig there in fact, it’s not an explosion, but under the weight
00:17:45
against them, the tribute of this image scatters, but
00:17:47
in the depths, of course, it’s just that then
00:17:50
this fortification wouldn’t be worth anything at all if you
00:17:53
kill a soldier and under his load,
00:17:55
actually, sandbags will fall, by the way,
00:17:57
the Germans have been preparing for a long time, they’ve been
00:17:59
preparing for so long, by the way, I’ll be back too a little
00:18:02
bit to the flamethrower am here it’s quite
00:18:03
interesting there is a specific person, the
00:18:06
famous flamethrower whose name is
00:18:09
ludi and Williams, just the one who
00:18:11
fought under his winter, he was under
00:18:14
enemy fire under a hail of shrapnel, first of
00:18:16
all, with a flamethrower it took several hours
00:18:19
and there were hits, they led precisely to the Vatican with the fire mixture
00:18:22
that is, he, as a
00:18:24
flamethrower, already had a task, a spectacle was filmed that was
00:18:26
not spectacular, on the other hand, Spielberg should also be
00:18:29
credited here as an asset, the fact that
00:18:32
he managed to make the whole world believe that this is what the
00:18:35
landing looked like, the landing in
00:18:37
Normandy, but in reality, of course,
00:18:40
any war is different from its
00:18:43
ideas on amara beach it
00:18:45
was really the smallest
00:18:47
failure during the landing, although in the end
00:18:49
it was luck, it must be said that these losses
00:18:52
were acceptable from the point of view of the
00:18:54
American command, and
00:18:56
large losses of 1700 to 1200 were during the
00:18:59
landing, this was an acceptable loss in
00:19:02
general, for example, they were much more bloody
00:19:05
operations to cross, for example, the forty-
00:19:07
third year across the Dnieper and
00:19:10
many more people died there in any zone of
00:19:13
crossing this river, this is 1 1 by the way, one of the
00:19:17
most tragic pages in the
00:19:20
history of the Great Patriotic War,
00:19:21
an attempt to seize a bridgehead on the right
00:19:24
bank of the Dnieper,
00:19:25
precisely in our cultural the core is,
00:19:29
of course, the landing in Normandy, but if
00:19:32
we look at the Soviet Union, then this is the
00:19:34
Dnieper, first of all, by the way, in this
00:19:36
scene there is such a mistake as a
00:19:39
cartridge box floating, for example, that it should not
00:19:42
float, it should have sunk and in the
00:19:45
last frames of this scene we We see a
00:19:47
soldier who is lying with his back up and
00:19:51
on his bag it says Ryan whom you
00:19:55
are looking at these for the first time I don’t know how you are
00:19:56
I have this idea of who to save
00:19:58
yes this is just among the neighbors
00:20:01
this intrigue in my opinion is not
00:20:04
signed by anyone there were only this Ryan's bags,
00:20:06
but the intrigue was quite possible, just the
00:20:08
same, this is a very good technique
00:20:10
because it is then refuted by the
00:20:12
next scene, which we
00:20:15
will not analyze now, this is exactly this
00:20:17
scene where the
00:20:19
secretary initially the typist most
00:20:22
likely discovers immediately it turns out
00:20:24
how many 4 telegrams up to 4 essentially a
00:20:27
funeral at 4 before the funeral and from this a
00:20:30
shift in the bureaucratic
00:20:32
process begins, in the end they first end up in the
00:20:35
colonel’s office if I’m not mistaken,
00:20:37
and there in the colonel’s office everything
00:20:40
happens quite well, just
00:20:43
the style of a well-transmitted phase board of
00:20:45
types a from now on, the only
00:20:47
drawback is that the
00:20:49
map is used in the project in the mercator projection;
00:20:52
the map here is to take a closer look in this
00:20:55
office; the map is not at all the map
00:20:58
that the Americans used during the
00:21:00
Second World War, because the
00:21:02
American army then used
00:21:05
exactly who represented the
00:21:07
cartographic world that was
00:21:09
created by the artist Richard and DSM
00:21:12
Harrison, well, that is, a small mistake
00:21:14
is good, but the main thing here is that the situation is not
00:21:17
this, but the fact that they go to the mother, who in the
00:21:19
story is a widow, to present
00:21:22
the funeral. By the way, there is also a mistake in that
00:21:26
his phone is from the 50s her
00:21:28
ranch, well, this is a small ahra, the scene is
00:21:31
very strong, just like going to such an
00:21:34
oasis of an American fairly prosperous
00:21:37
life, it’s in action just a toaster,
00:21:39
household appliances are approaching a car,
00:21:42
I’m on all levels, which is driven by both a priest
00:21:44
and a retired military man, x the topic that is
00:21:48
not the main one the main one is just old
00:21:49
enough already a person to hand over sometimes she
00:21:52
understands everything gives here we are approaching we are
00:21:54
approaching an important point whether this
00:21:57
was just it or not about the mission itself as
00:21:59
such it seems to me that it is quite important to
00:22:01
disassemble this into such these this is such a
00:22:05
myth that look at For example,
00:22:08
on the Soviet-German eastern front,
00:22:10
everyone let us into battle like cannon fodder, the
00:22:12
Americans, look at the rescue of private
00:22:14
Ryan, how everyone treated
00:22:17
human life with reverence, they even
00:22:20
saved the last boys of the family during the war,
00:22:23
but in fact, in fact, to a
00:22:26
large extent, this is true
00:22:28
because since the battle the
00:22:31
channel was folded when the
00:22:32
American warship
00:22:35
Jurge was destroyed, but
00:22:38
we have it Juneau as a rule or 752
00:22:42
when it sank, then the actual
00:22:45
five Sullivan brothers died immediately, I
00:22:47
will correct you there, three died immediately,
00:22:49
two after the passage from 1 to the feet
00:22:53
in fact, because of the crash, it was
00:22:55
not in other battles that it was directly given,
00:22:57
she received a funeral in January 1943,
00:22:59
and by the way, in 1944, a
00:23:00
film was released on the American tap of the
00:23:03
fighting Sullivans and very
00:23:05
pretentious by the way, just one of them named the ship
00:23:08
yes yes It was just after this that the
00:23:16
Dessau policy appeared in the United States Department of Defense and in the Army and Marine Corps,
00:23:20
that is, translated from English, this is the
00:23:23
policy of the only survivor as
00:23:25
such, I will correct you after all,
00:23:27
finally in the video circular
00:23:29
it was formed after which in the eighth
00:23:31
year, but in fact it
00:23:33
began to be used already at the end of 42 in
00:23:36
1943,
00:23:37
well, for example, no, he will wake up at the end of 42,
00:23:40
this is mentioned in the documents as the reason
00:23:42
why the American paratrooper
00:23:45
Fritz not Lando was taken from the front, he
00:23:49
probably has a prototype prototype of
00:23:51
Ryan, you also need a paratrooper although from
00:23:54
another slightly different
00:23:56
unit, in fact, it was not
00:24:00
Lando who had three brothers who died, and
00:24:02
Milan, by the way, here we also need to go
00:24:06
a little further, perhaps not Land showed
00:24:09
himself to be a real soldier and he
00:24:11
opposed this decision, well, just like Ryan
00:24:13
in the film, he pressed before the spoilers, yes then there is,
00:24:16
but then he, too, was forced to
00:24:18
follow the orders of his team
00:24:20
command, that is, it was not
00:24:22
during the landing in Normandy, but such an
00:24:24
episode will really be there,
00:24:26
when such cases happened, I just
00:24:29
came to the front to the military unit with an
00:24:32
order for so-and-so to be sent to
00:24:35
here it’s correct, yes, it happened very
00:24:37
mundanely, in fact, there were no combat groups
00:24:39
for this, no sarny uniform, since the dough on
00:24:41
no one said anything, as a rule, when a
00:24:43
unit was withdrawn, for example, on vacation for
00:24:46
replenishment, there a person was very easily
00:24:48
sought out and
00:24:50
recalled from the front, that is, they were rescued from
00:24:52
artistic exaggeration yes but
00:24:54
it cannot be said it cannot be said that this is an
00:24:57
absolute fiction as such, it’s clear that the
00:25:00
spot is immediately again summed up by a
00:25:02
certain philosophical component in
00:25:04
this film when we look at the general,
00:25:07
just a marshal and a marshal and a very iconic
00:25:10
general we call when in the general
00:25:14
staff and at that time in the committee the
00:25:15
chiefs of staff were also present, he
00:25:18
reads out the famous one, sent more precisely
00:25:21
without even reading the letter, the letter from Mrs.
00:25:38
that
00:25:41
in reality only two brothers died, but the
00:25:44
miss herself
00:25:45
was not the culprit because
00:25:48
of the shortcomings of the system for notifying
00:25:51
losses due to the press of the formation, by the way,
00:25:55
then during this period of the civil war,
00:25:57
lists of the dead were printed directly in the newspapers,
00:25:59
even shown in another famous film,
00:26:01
Gone Away in the wind and in the banks of New York, the
00:26:04
gangs of New York,
00:26:05
and because of this, because of this, she was
00:26:07
misinformed, and that is, Lincoln
00:26:09
received slightly unreliable
00:26:11
information, but
00:26:12
in fact, then
00:26:15
Lincoln’s opponents even used this
00:26:17
incident for their political purposes in that
00:26:20
including Zhenya, after the end of the
00:26:21
Civil War, semi-myth and myth, but
00:26:25
still you convey it well, in my
00:26:27
opinion, despite the fact that this is semi-myth, the
00:26:29
atmosphere and style of thinking at that time of the
00:26:32
American senior officer, that is,
00:26:35
this is a reference to Lincoln, who was the
00:26:37
connecting link for the Americans,
00:26:39
especially for the military, this is a manifestation of
00:26:43
military humanism, this is just the beginning of the
00:26:46
organization of some kind of special
00:26:48
operation, we’ll go to it now,
00:26:51
Captain Miller is forming a detachment, and by the way,
00:26:54
we forgot to say that he’s generally a
00:26:55
ranger before a ranger, by the way, this
00:26:58
unit would be very capable of an elite one.
00:27:01
Now, in particular, the
00:27:03
wolf was in the Crimea, so I’ll say that the first
00:27:06
regiment of rangers that took part in
00:27:07
the battles of Europe there was actually 500 people,
00:27:10
and actually 100 survived the victory, that is, there
00:27:13
were big losses there, the slogan go
00:27:16
forward, by the way, he was born right there
00:27:18
over say the rangers are always ahead poison
00:27:20
their key to just on Mahali what appeared
00:27:23
slide take it yes they as they say you
00:27:25
ranger before only die 4 so
00:27:27
the rangers are also interesting and when
00:27:28
weaving that rangers also appear
00:27:31
during the Civil War in the United
00:27:33
States the foundation is laid for
00:27:36
this subsection of Russians, it may not be
00:27:39
noticeable to the American viewer, these are
00:27:41
big quarrels, it’s literally
00:27:44
like in Russia, for example, banal facts from
00:27:47
our history, let’s say about Alexander
00:27:49
Matrosov about the militia divisions,
00:27:51
but for the United States,
00:27:53
the history of the Civil War is also
00:27:55
close to an
00:27:57
American schoolboy I know by the way
00:27:59
Rangers means he is such an elite fighter
00:28:02
expressed just in time for the
00:28:05
Second World War, they developed
00:28:07
such an image that they showed themselves well
00:28:09
on the day and in the future yes I
00:28:12
agree here that these are correct Captain
00:28:15
Miller who during this grid then
00:28:17
she makes the most important decisions here he is
00:28:19
sent to such a somewhat strange
00:28:22
mission, but nevertheless, he says an order
00:28:24
is an order, he will carry out he is
00:28:25
collecting a company from under command, he is
00:28:28
collecting the best fighters from it, and here,
00:28:30
too,
00:28:33
the tragedy of war was demonstrated when he
00:28:35
chooses the best 1 there is no other died
00:28:38
today literally just
00:28:41
such a cooling occurs when the news of
00:28:43
the death of a well-known fighter with whom
00:28:47
you have gone through a lot is no longer a serious
00:28:49
reaction, by the way, a complete international,
00:28:51
he is divided into a
00:28:53
Jew, an Italian, in general, everything here, and
00:28:57
of course the south, even by the way, his last name is
00:29:00
James Amber, he is a representative of the obvious southerners
00:29:02
Nekrasov you can say we have a
00:29:05
Protestant,
00:29:07
this American character, each
00:29:10
of the soldiers has his own line,
00:29:12
his own, they did not run the coat of arms, they
00:29:15
reveal trips to the cinema narratives,
00:29:17
and by the way, we should also remember about this
00:29:20
scene when the detachment is formed
00:29:22
that miles are even called the number of losses
00:29:24
irrevocable in his company, this is 35
00:29:26
people irrevocably and twice as many were
00:29:28
wounded, in principle, this is how it was at the
00:29:31
gates that participated in the landings
00:29:33
in general, reorganization, judging by such
00:29:35
losses, there should be a reform, yes,
00:29:37
of course, but here the remnants of his company are
00:29:39
poured into another company, where the well-
00:29:42
known tactical is used a
00:29:44
designation that was used
00:29:46
then in the US Army now in the necessary company,
00:29:49
for example, Delta Ruta Charlie and so on, that
00:29:52
is, it is quite authentic here and
00:29:54
Miller is looking for a translator
00:29:57
because the translator who was there before,
00:29:59
who again killed the French and Germans
00:30:00
during the first days of the fighting,
00:30:03
takes a staff clerk who did not sniff
00:30:05
gunpowder which is incompetent, who
00:30:07
first tries to say that Miller has never
00:30:09
been in combat, Miller tells him, and you learned to
00:30:12
shoot at the range, so you’ll come
00:30:14
naturally, he takes with me a
00:30:17
typewriter, a huge amount of
00:30:19
his belongings, and Miller, of course,
00:30:22
relieves him of such a heavy load, and
00:30:25
this man are also going to play a
00:30:27
significant role in the events of the film,
00:30:29
and it cannot be said that he is an absolutely
00:30:33
caricature of a staff clerk;
00:30:49
they know that Ryan,
00:30:52
more precisely Dora, there was information Ryan
00:30:53
the paratrooper where he landed folded the 101st
00:30:56
airborne and by the way, if
00:30:58
we get ahead of ourselves, he has an eagle
00:31:01
authentically screaming eagles they
00:31:03
still remain like the 101st color
00:31:06
airborne division of the United
00:31:08
States, then one of the best
00:31:10
units in the world are not the same in terms of
00:31:13
training level and in airborne training
00:31:14
in general and it has no competitors
00:31:17
now in terms of technical support and
00:31:20
training of personnel the division
00:31:23
will show itself, but if we take a very recent
00:31:26
period, it will show itself both in Iraq and
00:31:28
Afghanistan, it
00:31:29
came in excellently, it is needed as a combat weapon she
00:31:32
fights all the time, one of the most barking
00:31:35
divisions of the United States of America, well, the
00:31:38
detachment is moving deep into the territory
00:31:41
which is still like a layer cake, that is, the
00:31:43
Germans are allies here, paratroopers are here,
00:31:46
their first battle outside of
00:31:50
Omaha Beach takes place with some small
00:31:52
French charge there there is such a
00:31:55
reference that allows us to say, by the way,
00:31:58
that this is possible in the vicinity of the Koran,
00:32:00
where 1 call of duty by the way begins, the
00:32:02
city is the guarantor, it is very close to the
00:32:04
landing zone, I am here,
00:32:07
by the way, for the first time they show
00:32:09
their paratroopers and military uniforms, but
00:32:12
unfortunately there is not much of it here exactly the
00:32:14
form itself is well made by the conclusion 1
00:32:17
that the film and in this scene in others
00:32:19
shows not only, for example,
00:32:21
brown jumping boots
00:32:24
that were in 1944, but also
00:32:26
black, black, this was already in the
00:32:28
fifties, at the time of the Korean, this was
00:32:31
already even in 51-52 we ca
00:32:35
n’t see this everywhere, but there were only one
00:32:37
color and tactical signs of affiliation,
00:32:40
but strangely enough, for some reason they took
00:32:43
tactical signs that indicated the
00:32:45
506th infantry regiment and the
00:32:51
501st infantry regiment, that is, these are
00:32:53
paratroopers, this moment does not
00:32:56
belong to the costume designers and for maintenance,
00:32:59
although they, too, could have been there,
00:33:01
just the fighters of these infantry regiments because they were
00:33:04
throwing out not only paratroopers on
00:33:07
gliders with parachutes, but also other
00:33:09
units, but here there is a
00:33:11
slight discrepancy, but in my
00:33:13
opinion it is insignificant, but there the battle is shown
00:33:15
from that point of view I think that the
00:33:18
city fight was quite good, the
00:33:20
city god fight was shown quite well,
00:33:22
just all his drama is just
00:33:24
manifestations of love for the child, because of this,
00:33:27
the hood dies for being
00:33:30
charismatic enough, find out the gray one, they will shoot him down
00:33:32
before he is killed by a sniper, but the counter-
00:33:34
sniper fight literally
00:33:37
happens in a second in fact,
00:33:41
according to the laws of cinematic art, Jackson just gets to the
00:33:45
German sniper right in the eye if there is a combat
00:33:48
prayer, but it’s a great success to be
00:33:50
honest, getting into the sniper’s eye
00:33:53
happened quite rarely, by
00:33:57
the way, what now and then the main thing was an
00:34:00
anti-sniper rifle in the American
00:34:03
army and in any other this the tank then the
00:34:05
Sherman was the best weapon against
00:34:08
tanks, for
00:34:10
example, the Wolverine Wolverine self-propelled guns were used for this purpose, they
00:34:15
worked great in principle, these sniper May
00:34:17
you in these scenes of the larger bell that there
00:34:20
is no allied aviation, as we
00:34:23
know, it was just hanging there in the sky, it put the
00:34:25
same start the scene, in fact, not
00:34:28
many Americans had equipment that
00:34:30
could operate at night, mostly
00:34:31
bombers operated at night, to the
00:34:34
coordinates of so-called
00:34:36
close fire support aircraft, they
00:34:38
really didn’t operate there at this time,
00:34:40
by the way, literally
00:34:42
a few more days will pass and
00:34:45
the airfields will finally be formed for aviation
00:34:48
close fire support
00:34:50
just for the famous the thunder bolts
00:34:53
p-47 excellent to watch and syndromes right
00:34:56
here they sat down and immediately lifted did not
00:34:58
give should not do directly and reconciled the
00:35:00
Germans continuously given
00:35:03
blood-soaked
00:35:04
American soldiers beaches beaches there
00:35:06
will already be runways as well
00:35:09
By the way, the Americans will also operate in the
00:35:11
Pacific Ocean, here it must be said that the
00:35:14
American army acted excellently in
00:35:16
principle, that is, they were able to organize
00:35:18
close air support,
00:35:20
I was just on the mini and the
00:35:23
German offensive from along the Kola side of
00:35:26
Cherbourg, because really, as
00:35:28
the film correctly says, advance to
00:35:31
paris we need to take a large port so that we can
00:35:33
unload the brook there on da da da lat
00:35:36
absolutely right it was necessary to carry out
00:35:39
these actions and the planes features the
00:35:42
attack aircraft in the gouged German column,
00:35:45
relatively speaking, and all supplies
00:35:48
were paralyzed, which is very important, they were just
00:35:51
hunting for the trains that were supposed to be the
00:35:54
Germans bring in reinforcements and
00:35:56
tank columns attacked the column,
00:35:58
of course, but the next scene is when they
00:36:02
are looking for Ryan among the paratroopers, and even there the
00:36:05
wrong equal appears, and here
00:36:06
such
00:36:08
inhumanity of war is also shown, that is, this
00:36:10
person is informed about the death against the fetus,
00:36:12
in fact, and then turns out to be because of him
00:36:15
reservations that this is not Ryan from yeah, I’m
00:36:18
from Minnesota, we’re just
00:36:22
returning his living brothers on one side,
00:36:24
but he’s already infected with this hope of returning
00:36:27
home, they’re asking that I’m urgently glad to
00:36:29
come back and check how they filled the muck of life in a
00:36:32
simpler way, that is, just this
00:36:34
ruthlessness is the news that
00:36:36
struck him even more than the surrounding
00:36:38
war, which may even have broken him as a
00:36:40
fighter for some time, this
00:36:43
hope flared up and bugs again in one
00:36:45
second, here is a demonstration of war, good, what do
00:36:48
you think, by the way, to the famous
00:36:50
scene with the collapse of the brickwork
00:36:53
when the American soldiers, the Germans,
00:36:56
found themselves opposite each other, this is
00:36:58
realistic, I haven’t seen such cases
00:37:02
in urban battles, no matter how many times
00:37:04
I read, well, in general, a beautiful scene was shot
00:37:07
beautifully, they met right
00:37:09
opposite each other, but this happens in urban battles
00:37:11
and by abandoned walls, so they
00:37:13
went around the corner and suddenly opposite each other and
00:37:15
it’s not clear how to proceed further, of course
00:37:18
they don’t beat each other, I immediately remembered
00:37:20
a story from the combat experience of Yuri Nikulin,
00:37:25
our famous comedian, when two
00:37:28
groups of German and Soviet fighters
00:37:30
accidentally met on an embankment,
00:37:33
some jumped in one direction, the other the
00:37:35
other, and one German ended up by Soviet
00:37:37
soldiers, but by the way, this often happens, you
00:37:40
know, and you know what happened next to
00:37:42
him, that well, ours took him by the legs and
00:37:45
threw him by the hands to the Germans while he was flying, I
00:37:48
apologize for the details, he farted, so
00:37:50
everyone exchanged, went on different
00:37:53
sides, how to take him out, it was all over,
00:37:55
not dramatic here they
00:37:57
demonstrated the
00:37:59
superiority of the American
00:38:00
infantry in firepower that actually existed at that time, that is, it was
00:38:03
discovered by cars, mainly
00:38:05
automatic rifles, for example, the m1
00:38:08
garand m1 corbine carbine was also in service
00:38:11
with the sergeants; it was the
00:38:14
Thompson submachine guns that were mainly used by
00:38:15
officers and sergeants, and the Germans in May,
00:38:18
of course, the Germans had Mauser rifles, but
00:38:20
by the way, the Germans there at the Atlantic
00:38:22
ball had a
00:38:24
US submachine gun, by the way, and it was
00:38:27
quite a serious adversary because
00:38:29
its combat accuracy, although low, was
00:38:31
precisely the rate of fire, the Germans themselves
00:38:34
called it small machine guns The Americans
00:38:36
also threw it in vain in Call
00:38:39
of Duty, by the way, on board to board, this is exactly what is
00:38:42
being demonstrated, but there it is
00:38:43
exaggerated, and there literally all the
00:38:46
Germans use either, by the way, an archaic
00:38:49
submachine gun of the
00:38:51
1918 model, or dad, and not with a
00:38:55
drum magazine, just a
00:38:57
box type but we move beyond
00:39:00
Ukraine, they didn’t find it, and I go further
00:39:03
by the way, they meet and the glider, which supposedly
00:39:07
the general ordered to be strengthened with additional
00:39:09
plates, it turned out to be a heavy fall, well, of
00:39:12
course, the very
00:39:15
explanation from the side of the lieutenant pilot
00:39:17
who says the cars of the novel
00:39:19
has the right to life, but in fact,
00:39:22
to say that There were such cases, I wish
00:39:24
I hadn’t met the authorities, but on
00:39:27
the other hand, it’s necessary from an
00:39:28
artistic point of view, it just
00:39:30
demonstrates the problem of command,
00:39:33
the problem of chaos in all this, and then there is a
00:39:36
very strong scene in my opinion
00:39:38
when they start looking for the rabbi using the tokens of
00:39:40
dead soldiers and then it’s shown
00:39:43
just such the best military decommunization
00:39:45
when they play this besides the way, the
00:39:48
soldiers pass by and look at them as if they were
00:39:50
freaks on the horse and that is what they
00:39:53
are, although of course the war
00:39:55
throws off all the masks or always and it is the
00:39:57
medic who stops the orderly whom
00:39:59
they took with them and
00:40:02
further to Miller already lucky because
00:40:05
in the crowd of the paratrooper he finds a
00:40:08
shell-shocked, such a colorful
00:40:11
red-haired man, a man who
00:40:13
hears practically nothing, who
00:40:16
talks about where the mess is through a
00:40:19
guy who helps who was killed
00:40:21
on just Omaha Beach before the recipient, that
00:40:25
is, it turns out like this, but a small one in
00:40:28
fact, just like Miller shows that you
00:40:30
need to write where
00:40:33
Ryan is potentially located here, that is, he gives
00:40:35
him the direction of what is there and there
00:40:38
for the first time they name the city of caramel, which is very important for the plot of the
00:40:40
film, in fact,
00:40:43
no battles were fought for this city and this
00:40:46
city is higher, well it’s clear, well, it’s okay,
00:40:48
but it doesn’t matter because the
00:40:50
director’s task is to show exactly the realities of the
00:40:53
battles of that time after the landing,
00:40:55
indeed, the paratrooper soldiers were
00:40:58
often sorted out by different commanders,
00:41:00
many scattered, although the majority, it must be
00:41:03
said, landed successfully
00:41:06
and found each other, and the operation in general, it must be said, was
00:41:08
airborne precisely for the landing in Normandy
00:41:10
it brought good results,
00:41:14
a large number of Germans were destroyed,
00:41:15
which is a thin section of Kanev, the most important thing was that the
00:41:18
bridges were preserved, that is, they were not allowed,
00:41:20
it was important that the enemy did not allow the
00:41:22
bridges to be undermined because this would greatly
00:41:24
complicate the establishment of temporary crossings,
00:41:27
it would take a long time, although of course any
00:41:30
bridge in such conditions it can be repaired
00:41:33
for the passage of light equipment in about
00:41:35
two days a new day in such
00:41:37
conditions can be critical, but if
00:41:40
we move on to the famous scene with a German machine gun,
00:41:42
which is located near the
00:41:45
destroyed radiation tower, in my opinion,
00:41:48
and even here we will see a large number of
00:41:52
killed paratroopers and in general they can
00:41:54
pass by they have a task, but
00:41:56
Commander Miller once again showed
00:41:58
himself to be a man, he says that the
00:42:00
price of this machine gun on the field is Shatavari, he says
00:42:03
that our main task is that yes,
00:42:06
our order is to withdraw Private Ryan, but the
00:42:08
main task is to win the war and on and
00:42:10
on we we are watching a battle scene that was perfectly shot from
00:42:13
my point of view, we
00:42:14
are watching it through the
00:42:17
sights, filmed from a rifle through their eyes, just
00:42:21
like the translator, the chaos of the
00:42:24
translator's smoke, the house, yes, but also for the viewer, that is,
00:42:28
somewhere there is shooting, screams, grenade explosions,
00:42:30
because it is clear that they have abandoned a machine gun
00:42:33
nest with grenades and in the future we
00:42:36
see the famous cows that were just
00:42:39
hit by this and shrapnel, if
00:42:41
some computer toy is about
00:42:43
normal, he will definitely have two or three
00:42:45
dead cows, too, for the sake of justice,
00:42:47
Scott was actually mowed down by
00:42:49
artillery with shrapnel, but of course this
00:42:52
has already turned into a stamp with a view of necessarily
00:42:54
and Mazepa to Spielberg and thanks to Spielberg,
00:42:56
but really by the way, American
00:42:58
soldiers in real combat used these
00:43:00
carcasses to hide from fire from
00:43:03
shrapnel, it helped perfectly, I must say
00:43:06
that artillery fragments
00:43:09
would be ice at the sniper point and from a bullet from a bullet, not
00:43:12
always depending on the power of
00:43:13
the shot, for example from ordinary to
00:43:17
strong, reinforced with gunpowder, no, well, a
00:43:19
medic dies during the battle, but doesn’t die right away,
00:43:23
by the way, excellent, I must
00:43:25
say it shows the field medicine of that
00:43:28
time, in my opinion, by
00:43:31
what means it is shown that he
00:43:34
trained his fighters well, taught them to
00:43:36
use morphine, additives,
00:43:38
powders in order to limit the
00:43:41
bleeding and
00:43:43
bluing, of course, it really didn’t
00:43:46
leave any chance because he
00:43:48
was hinting at this that he felt that
00:43:50
peritonitis was occurring in his
00:43:53
intestines, which outside the
00:43:57
hospital conditions lead to death with a
00:43:59
probability of 95 percent, unfortunately he
00:44:02
dies and then a
00:44:04
moral dilemma begins, well, that is, prices with a
00:44:07
German with a captured German who begins to
00:44:09
dig the grave of an orderly who, as always,
00:44:12
did not shoot, only helped the machine gunner,
00:44:15
by the way, note that all the Germans in the film are
00:44:18
Britons, here we will say it is very important, it is important, and the
00:44:22
moment that he wears a Wehrmacht uniform is important,
00:44:26
this is in detail, we will Let’s go back to this, yes, but
00:44:30
by the way, the Germans then wore
00:44:32
long hairstyles, executioners, yes, this can be seen from
00:44:34
numerous shots in the chronicles, it
00:44:36
probably looks ominously shaved, but such people
00:44:40
also appeared there sometimes because
00:44:43
lice and there were problems everywhere new, just
00:44:45
on the Atlantic Wall, they really
00:44:47
wore longer ones and it’s also possible
00:44:50
because there were conditions for washing
00:44:52
regularly; then the Germans, when they
00:44:56
defend themselves after the first phase of the
00:44:58
operation, they will be like everyone else, absolutely
00:45:01
morally, in fact, we are sticking out that he must be
00:45:02
shot because they cannot take
00:45:04
prisoner with them, and besides, their
00:45:06
comrade killed them, of course he doesn’t admit it,
00:45:08
like any prisoner of war who is fighting
00:45:10
for life, he remembers his meager
00:45:12
English skills, he sings part of the knife, the
00:45:16
American anthem, he digs a grave, they
00:45:19
said the work and the number is bad, she has
00:45:22
n’t started yet, she’s not ready, and so on, but
00:45:24
then what happens is the conviction
00:45:27
from the translator’s side is that we
00:45:29
must follow the convention, we must
00:45:32
let him go and in the end we are in conflict
00:45:35
and arise because it was Captain
00:45:37
Miller who gives the order to let him go, then
00:45:40
even a conflict arises in the world of shooters with
00:45:42
fire support who are just
00:45:44
using the bar the famous weapon,
00:45:48
by the way it appeared at the end of the First World
00:45:50
War, just a 20-round magazine is an
00:45:53
excellent weapon, but in the end,
00:45:56
by the way, Miller has to, in order to
00:45:58
fulfill his mission, by the way, as a
00:46:00
commander, in order to regain the trust of the soldiers,
00:46:02
he waits for some time while they
00:46:05
discuss among themselves and then she
00:46:07
reveals her personal secret which not
00:46:09
before that, we were just constantly looking for
00:46:11
assemblies, then he does growing up such a fighting
00:46:14
man, who is he in peaceful life, it turns
00:46:15
out that he is just a teacher,
00:46:18
preschool and school teachers, he taught
00:46:20
people in a provincial small
00:46:23
town written English,
00:46:25
that is, a surprise, that is,
00:46:29
the legend that collapsed was located does not explain
00:46:31
why he leaves out the Germans, he says that
00:46:33
with each murder I am further and further
00:46:35
from home until the murder of a civilian, well,
00:46:39
everything enters a decisive phase because
00:46:41
they do find private Ryan, and we
00:46:44
must remember how they are already approaching the
00:46:46
city of Ramil, as we have already said
00:46:48
fictional from the point of view of military
00:46:50
operations and we see how on the field they
00:46:53
see the advancement of a German semi-
00:46:55
tracked armored personnel carrier, which in
00:46:57
Russia is called Ghana, I can actually on
00:46:59
mac this is the manufacturer of this company before the company is
00:47:02
actually
00:47:03
tstk nvc 251 or for example fox
00:47:07
in German read zonder kraft headlights
00:47:10
if we simply translate this
00:47:12
special vehicle for
00:47:15
special tasks, this is how
00:47:18
it is translated from German and this armored personnel carrier
00:47:21
was hit by an arpg bazooka
00:47:24
and there on this field they meet 3
00:47:28
paratroopers in a characteristic uniform, again
00:47:31
from the 101st division, although in this
00:47:34
geographical The 82nd Division was fighting in the area,
00:47:36
just a small inaccuracy, and
00:47:39
it turns out that this armored personnel carrier was knocked out by none other
00:47:42
than Private Ryan, well, they tell him to
00:47:44
send an order, well, yes, yes, that is, they
00:47:48
begin to explain to him that he must go
00:47:50
home, why are they telling him that
00:47:52
his brothers died three of them he
00:47:55
asks and the answer to everyone and then he bites his
00:47:58
lips but between them they show themselves as a very
00:48:01
worthy soldier, just like that we
00:48:04
were talking about a military historical prototype
00:48:06
from the end of 42 and the ringing is done in the same way,
00:48:10
he says that my brothers here are more accurately
00:48:12
answering The captain's question is what
00:48:15
should I tell your grief-stricken mother,
00:48:17
he says that I will accept death here with
00:48:21
my only remaining
00:48:22
brothers, I think that she will understand, he
00:48:26
shows himself as a real soldier without
00:48:29
any equivocation, a very worthy act
00:48:31
that will be appreciated by his other
00:48:35
comrades there who were left
00:48:38
alone, his lower commander died, and just then
00:48:41
Captain Miller, as an experienced
00:48:43
person, by the way, we forgot to say,
00:48:45
they have been fighting since the times of North Africa, that
00:48:47
is, such a school teacher who became a
00:48:49
truly outstanding field
00:48:51
commander
00:48:52
organizes the defense of this city, they
00:48:55
because this task is set before
00:48:57
this scene is also very strong, there is
00:48:59
a conversation between the sergeant who is just
00:49:02
collecting his duffel bag with soil from the places
00:49:05
where he managed to fight, also by the way, this
00:49:07
runs through the entire film with such a
00:49:10
definite plot and they begin to discuss with Miller
00:49:13
what kind of Messi they are
00:49:15
discussing the act of the district itself and
00:49:18
just the sergeant says the famous phrase in
00:49:22
different translations of different voice-overs into
00:49:23
Russian, it is different, about the fact that perhaps
00:49:26
by saving an ordinary districtman we committed the most
00:49:30
moral act during this war of
00:49:32
this massacre and this is just
00:49:36
such a transition to the fact that the group is on
00:49:38
Miller will remain along with the remnants of the
00:49:40
paratroopers, especially since there really are
00:49:41
no officers older than the corporal, there is no
00:49:44
one left in this small
00:49:47
town where the bridge has been preserved and the bridge has been preserved and it is
00:49:49
necessary to wear a face so it is necessary to explain that
00:49:52
the bridge of men because they will
00:49:54
blow up their own in blue, then the further advance of the
00:49:56
allied forces will be suspended there will be
00:49:59
large losses or the Germans, on the contrary, will be able to
00:50:01
transport their troops already
00:50:05
would have created a huge threat troops naturally
00:50:09
who were attacking the article not in the best
00:50:11
conditions defense which is in command of
00:50:13
Amelia what is the goal not that it is obvious and
00:50:18
sufficient and the solution in the
00:50:19
absence of anti-tank weapons
00:50:22
snipers observers into the bell tower of
00:50:24
course drive attract the enemy's
00:50:27
attention with the help of a crawler motorcycle across the meadow of force
00:50:30
to the main
00:50:32
street of the city to detonate the
00:50:35
charges, that is, an improvised explosive
00:50:38
device, it's all right there and should be
00:50:41
done, developed and did so
00:50:43
accordingly, it partially worked, but on the
00:50:46
other hand, we also had to sacrifice a lot,
00:50:48
for example, charges for
00:50:49
anti-tank grenade launchers by the sound of
00:50:51
alla, by the way, I must say that the bazooka
00:50:54
is an excellent weapon, of course, well, for example,
00:50:56
and armor penetration was against the armor when
00:51:00
meeting a right angle of 90 degrees 75
00:51:04
millimeters somewhere and the conditions were
00:51:08
not enamel, but here again, for some reason, they
00:51:11
seemed to expect Tiger tanks and then they
00:51:14
will appear nails so that, of course, she does
00:51:16
n’t take it into the frontal detail because
00:51:18
you have a thread of the game and the T-34 tanks, but
00:51:21
in my personal opinion they were
00:51:24
camouflaged as the chassis of
00:51:26
tigers because at least you can’t see
00:51:28
what’s there chassis of the T-34, yes it looks like it’s on
00:51:32
a disk, for example, like rolling out how it’s done,
00:51:35
that is, the NPF shape of the turret is still a
00:51:38
tiger, and for example, the
00:51:40
turret is located a little differently, especially when
00:51:43
they show it from above, these are not Azeri tanks to us
00:51:46
at all, for example, near a lake in Berlin
00:51:48
there is a T-62 tank, for example, which
00:51:51
plays the role of the IS-2 tank, although the
00:51:54
IS-2 tanks were used by the Soviet army
00:51:58
and then the Russian army until
00:52:01
1993, it’s not there, it’s just that the German tanks are not
00:52:03
visible that these are some kind of T-55 when
00:52:05
they were t -55 basically, other
00:52:08
Tomsk people wrote divine ones
00:52:10
when they weren’t traveling, well, naturally, there is
00:52:12
more attention here to the desire to, in any
00:52:15
case, depict authentic equipment, for
00:52:17
example, German self-propelled guns, of course it’s
00:52:20
difficult to say what kind of self-propelled gun this is, and here you
00:52:23
can take action for the famous
00:52:25
anti-tank self-propelled guns marder 2 on which was
00:52:28
installed just has a German
00:52:30
anti-tank gun with a caliber of 75
00:52:32
millimeters or this self-propelled howitzer
00:52:34
VSP which looked similar
00:52:38
shouted this is neither one nor the other and then
00:52:41
the other is just a howitzer that will
00:52:43
shoot at the bell tower it is
00:52:46
if you look at it from a certain
00:52:48
angle In general, it may slightly
00:52:49
resemble things, but it’s not a thing
00:52:52
because the open conning tower, for example, there are
00:52:55
inaccuracies, and the city battle itself, after
00:52:57
all, let’s not find fault with
00:52:59
the technology, we love Axom city battle,
00:53:02
what do you think I’m showing, I think that it’s
00:53:04
shown very well close to what happened in
00:53:07
such navi knocks, of course, in fact,
00:53:09
in terms of tactics and behavior, there is one
00:53:12
observer who signals these,
00:53:14
as he said, two tigers and so of the north, that’s
00:53:17
exactly how you understand it, but here, well, at
00:53:20
least there are two
00:53:22
sheets of course, by the way
00:53:23
in the United States it was
00:53:26
about the same as their Red Army,
00:53:28
any tank, including the Panzerkampfwagen
00:53:30
4, which had a gun barrel length,
00:53:33
or while on the accounts any such tank
00:53:36
was considered a ticker like any Alba, and
00:53:39
by the way, a self-propelled gun with a long gun, for example,
00:53:42
also a similar German sauna
00:53:44
was considered like Ferdinand, for example,
00:53:46
the main thing is that he notifies that these rings of
00:53:49
infantry men are advancing, that is, less than a
00:53:51
company, in fact, two self-propelled guns and
00:53:54
armored personnel carriers,
00:53:55
respectively, then as the battle progresses, an anti-
00:53:58
aircraft gun flak chisel will appear there,
00:54:01
by the way, in my opinion, it is perfectly shown how
00:54:03
it worked and it was really
00:54:05
used very effectively on all
00:54:07
fronts, as a large-caliber
00:54:08
machine gun of 20 mm caliber, it
00:54:11
had both the breeze itself and anti-aircraft
00:54:14
shells, so there were also blanks for them, relatively
00:54:17
speaking, and it would inflict big losses, but
00:54:20
let’s talk in principle in a little
00:54:23
more detail, here’s how Miller, for example,
00:54:25
proposes to fight a tank, and how does he
00:54:28
proposes to make the so-called sticky
00:54:30
bombs, which are just sticky and sticky mines
00:54:33
from the soldiers on the instructions to give
00:54:35
them just from the explosives
00:54:37
that were prepared for blowing up
00:54:40
the bridge, take the sticks and use them,
00:54:43
indeed, such sticky bombs
00:54:46
were made in many armies, the
00:54:49
Red Army used the American
00:54:51
army them zara miller correctly says
00:54:54
that they can be used maximum to
00:54:55
damage the rollers of a tank in order to
00:54:59
knock down a caterpillar, for example, this is important
00:55:01
the conditions of this do not work out the first
00:55:03
time the first time is tragically just the
00:55:05
first soldier who tries to
00:55:08
attach this bomb to the sides of the tigers, this bomb
00:55:12
explodes along with this bomb By the way,
00:55:15
it explodes literally into atoms, although of
00:55:18
course this is the reason for the explosives that
00:55:20
were actually in these socks,
00:55:22
of course,
00:55:23
but still it would have killed Oddo, but there
00:55:26
was a little more left of him, but for him
00:55:28
it’s very
00:55:30
cool, by the way, they show all the toughening
00:55:32
of the battle, remember the scene when the German shoots at the
00:55:35
American soldier, then they throw, they
00:55:38
start throwing each other's helmets, a pistol, and in the
00:55:41
mind there is very great bitterness for the magician, another
00:55:44
magnificent scene is just when he has
00:55:47
machine gunners who must, a group of 30
00:55:50
people who bypass the position of the
00:55:53
Americans,
00:55:55
are no longer able to cover,
00:55:57
partly due to the cowardice of the translator
00:56:00
just then, who shrank, well, of
00:56:03
course, you can understand, but still, he let you down
00:56:05
greatly at first, at first, they successfully fire back, by the way, a
00:56:10
grenade flies towards them, just the famous
00:56:12
Hunt grenades, which are the way back, but
00:56:16
she has an action; by the way, she rushed
00:56:18
because her fuse is burning from 9 seconds,
00:56:20
unlike, for example, an American
00:56:23
grenade, it also comes to have the courage
00:56:26
when when the check was pulled out, otherwise you do
00:56:28
n’t know, it was stolen by the lady, as soon as,
00:56:31
as they say, the check was pulled out, the
00:56:33
lady grenade is no longer a friend,
00:56:36
but there you
00:56:38
can even see from the German grenade when they are burning and burning
00:56:40
smoke came out of it and making it
00:56:42
identical in principle, yes, but we
00:56:45
can’t say there was such an element, then the
00:56:47
enemy penetrates and begins
00:56:49
to surround 1 through the partition of a German
00:56:52
soldier they were able to kill,
00:56:55
apparently, this is exactly what is shown through the
00:56:57
sound, by the way, in fact now it’s
00:56:59
mostly a shooting battle when the enemy is
00:57:02
not visible, they conduct it by sound, sometimes it
00:57:04
comes, they bring them negative,
00:57:06
for example, the consequences when a soldier does not understand
00:57:09
that they are shooting at him and the
00:57:11
nearby units are shooting, but that’s okay,
00:57:13
so our branches and then the
00:57:16
Germans still penetrate there and you see
00:57:19
hand-to-hand combat is just the same, and here
00:57:20
we have the same German
00:57:23
who was released, by the way, from that point of
00:57:26
view, they are
00:57:28
definitely a bastard, because he’s on his
00:57:30
nose for the Nazis. the soldier’s very vision from the
00:57:32
point of view of fulfilling the regulations of his
00:57:35
oath
00:57:36
is of course absolutely a rule, no,
00:57:38
but another question is that he is changing troops, that
00:57:42
is, if he was there in a Wehrmacht uniform, then
00:57:44
here he has already been in captivity of waffen ss ships, he has become
00:57:47
embittered, she will see a flock of
00:57:49
his quickly accepted by the waffen ss and in this
00:57:51
short time, you literally
00:57:53
went through one day during the film, this is a
00:57:57
Hitler Youth knife, and what is he doing there, it’s
00:58:00
unclear legs, guitar, mentos, dagger,
00:58:03
he himself was really wounded, by the way, it is
00:58:05
still valued on the market, about three
00:58:08
thousand dollars in good condition, they cost
00:58:10
Sasovsky a dagger and more like
00:58:13
sar daggers, for example, they could their cost
00:58:16
can reach up to 20 thousand
00:58:18
dollars in perfect condition in the so-
00:58:20
called menthol so here we
00:58:22
see by the way the work of a German thing is
00:58:26
just in good condition when this
00:58:29
German managed to win in hand-to-hand
00:58:31
combat
00:58:32
this is just a tragic picture when
00:58:34
slowly he is physically stronger than just a
00:58:37
bayonet in the chest of an American
00:58:41
soldier, then then this German
00:58:42
is captured again by the same one, and
00:58:45
here it is even more interesting how the German, by the way,
00:58:47
fulfilled his invisible promise, it was the
00:58:49
translator who was tied with
00:58:51
ribbons that were not enough for in order
00:58:54
to defeat the enemy, he pressed himself into the
00:58:58
stairs and the German, entering him, understands that he
00:59:02
once saved his life, passes
00:59:05
by, I then looks around, too, very well,
00:59:08
it is shown what is called how a
00:59:11
real soldier looks from right to left,
00:59:14
assess the situation and leaves the one who
00:59:18
once - then saved and alive if from
00:59:20
the division just from the division this is
00:59:22
for their famous but in tpp to receive although
00:59:25
she was not born there behind the body, it doesn’t matter
00:59:28
these are the ones who went through the operation
00:59:30
Rzhev citadel, that is, this is a selected
00:59:33
soldier in fact and as noted they
00:59:35
cunningly lead to which they can survive in
00:59:38
captivity, although the second time when
00:59:40
you don’t shoot each other, but does he kill no, well, how
00:59:43
would they repay each other’s debt and the second
00:59:46
time no one obliges new
00:59:48
Rivaldos on the other hand, the translator will still
00:59:50
release the other Germans but he will kill
00:59:52
exactly this one, although he could take
00:59:54
everyone prisoner, and I don’t eat those, even including the
00:59:56
officer who was an officer, this is always a
00:59:59
desired trophy, I won’t wish it in the hall, why
01:00:02
he did it is not clear, well, let’s move on
01:00:04
to the final scene on the bridge when our
01:00:08
captain Miller he is wounded, a tank is approaching him
01:00:11
and this is the famous scene when he
01:00:14
shoots at this tank and the tank suddenly,
01:00:17
really suddenly, everything
01:00:19
just 1 you look at it explodes and you
01:00:20
think it really hit so well, but
01:00:24
in fact this is aviation, and
01:00:28
first of all, it must be said that everything - still,
01:00:30
the director leaves room for thought,
01:00:33
or is Miller so lucky, this is also a
01:00:35
reason gods in war, this could
01:00:38
not have happened with an air god, of course,
01:00:41
because the tiger’s observation devices,
01:00:43
of course, had a thick layer of armored glass
01:00:46
and it was impossible to penetrate it, even if a
01:00:49
bullet passed, for example, the tiger has already,
01:00:52
again, the tiger tank had ammunition
01:00:54
from unitary shots, but if you don’t
01:00:57
know, I see that this is exactly the same,
01:01:00
again the question shows the mustang p-51,
01:01:03
the famous American fighter
01:01:05
that can also be used as an
01:01:07
attack aircraft, but this in this area
01:01:10
exactly where the story against enemy armored vehicles is,
01:01:12
those same P-47 Thunderbolt planes
01:01:16
because they carried much more
01:01:18
weapons were more effective, but of course of
01:01:20
course I always thought that it was the aviation that
01:01:23
was able to knock out the truth so successful and
01:01:25
immediately along with the bridge this
01:01:28
fireplace bridge to be honest, in order to bomb it was not necessary to
01:01:31
use a
01:01:33
fighter-bomber, not even a fighter-bomber, but
01:01:35
now the main scene of the film, which in
01:01:37
fact is when we say that
01:01:39
our filmmakers, among other things, do not reach
01:01:42
the area, in fact, it must be said that
01:01:44
they do not reach even because the
01:01:45
fighting scenes are staged and do not reach the
01:01:48
level of this last scene of the
01:01:50
film, of the two sub-scenes it will be
01:01:53
when Ryan approaches the dying Miller
01:01:56
and the subsequent ones, what happens there and he also
01:01:58
talks about being worthy, conditionally,
01:02:01
Miller speaking of the area until he is already dying,
01:02:03
in fact, he will die literally in
01:02:05
a few minutes and even or even seconds and
01:02:08
this just opens the way for, in my
01:02:11
opinion, a very strong ending of this
01:02:13
film, we return again to the 90s
01:02:16
to that same cemetery and we see a man
01:02:19
with already familiar facial features with eyes in
01:02:23
particular and eyes it’s simply wonderful,
01:02:25
this is just Ryan who has just returned back to
01:02:27
Normandy, who is surrounded by his
01:02:30
family, who falls to his knees in front of the
01:02:33
grave of Captain Miller and says that I
01:02:36
tried to live with dignity, his
01:02:39
aged wife,
01:02:41
putting her hand on his shoulder, says
01:02:44
you were a worthy person, in my opinion,
01:02:46
this is very strong By the way, I
01:02:49
experienced almost catharsis for the first time when I watched
01:02:52
this film, but I can say that,
01:02:54
of course, from the point of view of
01:02:56
historical inconsistencies in the film, we examined
01:02:58
a lot, but this is a work of art
01:03:00
in some films, and much more than in
01:03:03
some films, the plot itself is absolutely
01:03:06
based in the wound, but here this is the main
01:03:08
scene in the name of what normandy people fought in the name of,
01:03:12
firstly, they really fought
01:03:13
against fascism and there it is shown in the person of
01:03:16
these German soldiers, on the one
01:03:19
hand, on the other hand, they fought
01:03:21
for the fact that the equal returned home so
01:03:24
that he became a worthy person, lived a
01:03:27
worthy life, he also lives with dignity, but
01:03:30
in subsequent American films about
01:03:32
the war, of course, there is an idea that our guys are
01:03:34
just fighting, but yes, here Spielberg’s sketch
01:03:38
raises universal themes, I
01:03:40
agree, for example, if the cinema of the
01:03:43
late eighties is, for example, the
01:03:46
same platoon, a famous film, yes
01:03:48
then in the 2000s this is already an
01:03:51
American sniper and a completely different
01:03:53
ideology lost in the war in the war
01:03:56
completely different personalities completely
01:03:58
different moral problems the
01:04:00
idea of war has changed this point is
01:04:02
quite strong to prove, let me remind you that we
01:04:04
recently also dismantled the
01:04:06
full metal shell that is
01:04:08
embedded in the outline of such an anti-war
01:04:10
movie and By the way, this century to save
01:04:13
ordinary Ryan is also anti-war in
01:04:15
its essence, although there people fulfill their duty
01:04:18
to the end, by and large, but
01:04:20
nevertheless, war is war, and there are
01:04:23
truly universal human values, one
01:04:25
must live worthy of being worthy both in
01:04:27
war and in peace, that’s the same the bar
01:04:29
that Spielberg set is for many
01:04:32
filmmakers to this day who
01:04:34
make films about the war, it is unattainable,
01:04:36
well, thank you, it was very
01:04:39
interesting for our viewers, too, and
01:04:43
what next film should we review about
01:04:46
the war, I think our viewers will write to us and
01:04:48
please do not forget to subscribe on
01:04:51
ngn
01:04:52
busty and see you soon see you again
