Мемориал воинам-освободителям установлен на братской могиле в городе Браслав на месте захоронения советских солдат, погибших при освобождении Браславщины. В 2019 году мемориальный комплекс был реконструирован, появились три новые плиты с именами 54 солдат, погибших при освобождении Браславщины. В годы Великой Отечественной войны Браслав был оккупирован 27 июня 1941 года. 3 июня 1942 года при ликвидации еврейского гетто, созданного после оккупации города, было расстреляно около 2 000 евреев. В Браславе действовало патриотическое подполье. Город был освобожден 6 июля 1944 года войсками 1-го Прибалтийского фронта в ходе Шауляйской операции.
