what the heck is the digitizer guys the00:02:43
digitizer is the front layer of your00:02:47
phone or your tablet it's usually a00:02:49
phone or a tablet but you do get some00:02:51
laptops it's got this as well you do get00:02:53
some desktop screens it's got this as00:02:55
well and why am I saying phones are00:02:57
tablets well guys a lot of you might not00:02:59
notice but a phone or a tablet actually00:03:01
has multiple layers and even other00:03:04
things like TVs but that's besides the00:03:06
point here if you were to go and take00:03:08
your phone apart it's more specifically00:03:10
the screen for that matter you would00:03:12
notice there's more than one layer the00:03:15
very front layer that guys is the00:03:19
digitizer the digitizer layer is the one00:03:22
that actually senses your touch or the00:03:25
user's touch so when you touch the00:03:27
screen and you scroll on the screen and00:03:30
you pinch or zoom in or zoom out on the00:03:31

knowing that you can zoom in and out on00:04:13
a phone and scroll all that stuff is00:04:14
very unlikely at this point in time you00:04:16
know unless you were staying on a rock00:04:17
you'd probably know about that00:04:20
now as for the gloss layer and screen00:04:23
protectors that is something we all have00:04:25
to do these days because even though00:04:27
these phones are getting smarter and00:04:28
cooler and they can do more and all that00:04:30
they I don't know they feel very brittle00:04:32
to me it's as if they break like crazy00:04:35
really really easy so it's obviously00:04:37
very highly advisable that you go get00:04:39
yourself some sort of rubber cover for00:04:41
your phone so that if and when I should00:04:43
probably say when not if because we know00:04:45
it's going to happen at some point so00:04:46
that when you drop that phone they will00:04:49
not necessarily break on the first fall00:04:51
but maybe only on the third or the00:04:52
fourth floor it's sounds inevitable00:04:54
doesn't it maybe also get yourself some00:04:58
sort of screen protector you know it00:05:00
protects us from scratches and stuff and00:05:02
on that note you'll find some of these00:05:04
covers you get for your phone actually00:05:05
covers the screen as well actually folds00:05:07
closed doesn't look as it's peeling but00:05:09
it actually is a lot better at00:05:10
protecting the phone so if you drop it00:05:12
and it was dropping screen first and00:05:14
maybe let's say this is on a pebble or00:05:16
something at least that wouldn't break00:05:17
the screen so maybe something to go look00:05:19

then we've got rotating and removable00:05:26
screens now the rotating factor I think00:05:29
we all know that I mean tablets can do00:05:31
that phones can do that and sometimes it00:05:34

other times especially in the beginning00:05:43

remember the very first time they added00:05:50

the latest version before that we had00:06:02

when that came out I remember writing00:06:13
that exam and very suddenly I saw00:06:15
questions about gyroscope and I was like00:06:18
what the heck is a gyroscope I remember00:06:20
asking myself what is that I had an idea00:06:24
but I wasn't 100 sure doubting myself00:06:26
luckily I passed the exam and after the00:06:28
examine obviously out of curiosity I'm00:06:30
gonna go and check it out and then I00:06:32
learned that what gyroscope is it's00:06:33
obviously at that point in time it was00:06:35
something relatively new because not00:06:37
everybody had a phone like we've got00:06:39
these days you know not smartphones00:06:41
weren't that popular back then you know00:06:43
they were still very very very new in00:06:45
the market00:06:46
nowadays good luck finding a phone or a00:06:49
tablet that does not have some sort of00:06:52
gyroscope it's able to basically in a00:06:55
nutshell detect which way is down you00:06:57
know with some form of gravity detection00:06:59
and because of that it can rotate the00:07:02
screen accordingly to you now there are00:07:04
times we don't want to do that because00:07:06
maybe you're lying on your bed on your00:07:08
side and obviously the phone is now kind00:07:10
of on its side and the phone's gonna00:07:11
think you're holding it the wrong way00:07:13
around and it's going to adjust the00:07:14
screen and sometimes you don't want to00:07:15
do that if you're lying on your side so00:07:18
you can actually go and turn off the00:07:20
gyroscope or screen rotating as they00:07:23
call it these days00:07:24
now as for the removable factor it's not00:07:26
something I see a lot at least not yet00:07:28
anyway but there are phones out there00:07:30
guys and even tablets and laptops where00:07:32
you can in fact remove the screen from00:07:35
the phone00:07:36

the most common one will probably be00:08:43
some sort of headphones you plug into00:08:44
your phone so what do they have in mind00:08:47

touchpads track pads and drawing pads00:08:53

so first of all let's talk about00:11:30
enabling and disabling so I think by00:11:33
default this is actually turned on00:11:35
on most devices you know tablets phones00:11:38
laptops it's normally turned on by00:11:39
default but it doesn't mean you will00:11:41
connect automatically by default so the00:11:44
very first time you get to a new Wi-Fi00:11:46
spot slash hotspot whatever you want to00:11:50
call it you will need to choose it from00:11:52
a list click on it tap on it select it00:11:55
whatever and it seems to what I'm going00:11:57
to ask you for some form of password00:11:58
just to make sure you're actually00:11:59
allowed on that Network and you're not00:12:01
some weenie that's up to no good once00:12:03
you do that the device phones tablets00:12:05
and laptops all of them alike would00:12:07
normally remember that Network so if you00:12:10
go out of range it's going to disconnect00:12:11
and eventually one day whenever that00:12:14
might be if you come back to that00:12:15
Network and it's close enough basically00:12:18
within range your device would go in00:12:21
auto connect back to that Network00:12:24
assuming the password has not changed00:12:26
the password that has changed it ain't00:12:28
gonna happen guys00:12:29
now you can of course go and force your00:12:32
device to forget a network yep it's an00:12:35
actual option called forget and if it00:12:38
forgets the network the next time you00:12:39
come move in range it's definitely not00:12:40
going to even try to auto connect to00:12:42
that Network never mind remembering the00:12:44
password00:12:45
you can go and turn off the Wi-Fi00:12:47
function on pretty much any device00:12:48
that's got a Wi-Fi availability so that00:12:51
normally actually saves a bit of battery00:12:52
life mind you so if you do that on a00:12:54
phone or a tablet it definitely saves00:12:55
its battery life on a laptop doesn't00:12:58
make that big of a difference but you00:13:00
can go and turn it off if you want to go00:13:01
and do that00:13:02
something else you folks can go and do00:13:04
and I'm sure some of you have seen this00:13:05
heck some of you guys might have even if00:13:07
you use this it's airplane mode00:13:10
so what that basically does and this is00:13:13
mostly used on a phone or a tablet like00:13:14
I said it allows you to keep the device00:13:17
on but it's not going to receive or more00:13:22
importantly broadcast any form of00:13:25
wireless communication00:13:27
Marathon does not just receive or make00:13:30
phone calls like in the old days it's00:13:31
definitely not just that guys a phone00:13:33
for example has that NFC function00:13:35
they've got Bluetooth some of them have00:13:37
got infrared they've got of course the00:13:39
normal phone network there's a lot of00:13:41
signals that they're broadcasting00:13:42
receiving and if you are on a plane for00:13:45
example that's bad there's a myth going00:13:47
around that this can supposedly crash a00:13:49
plane00:13:50
and I think someone confirmed once that00:13:52
that's not possible I actually did a00:13:54
video on my channel where that was like00:13:55
a topic or a subtopic once and I said in00:13:58
the video if there's anyone that knows00:13:59

this myth is actually true or not in an00:14:04
actual pilot from an actual plane went00:14:08
and commented in the comment section and00:14:11

all wireless communication off on your00:15:03
device then it kind of renders it uses00:15:06
anything you can do on it maybe play00:15:07
offline games watch some offline videos00:15:10
watch some pictures that kind of stuff00:15:12
there's not much you can do with that00:15:13
phone or a tablet which is why most of00:15:15
us just kind of turn it off but you can00:15:17
put it on airplane mode which well00:15:19
basically renders the device is useless00:15:21
for the most part00:15:22
let's talk about antenna placement00:15:26
so when it comes to the antenna this00:15:29
could be found David laptop all that00:15:30
kind of stuff00:15:32
um you'll find there are going to be00:15:34
times where you've got no signal maybe00:15:36
you will have a signal and suddenly the00:15:38
signal goes away this could be because00:15:40
you are moving around so if it's a phone00:15:42
or a tablet especially chances are you00:15:44
might be walking around so when your00:15:46
signal suddenly you know deteriorates00:15:48
goes away it could be that maybe you've00:15:50
moved without or you know out of range00:15:53
from where the signal is being00:15:54
broadcasted so if you have some some00:15:56
sort of Wi-Fi from someone or some sort00:15:58
of hotspot maybe just maybe you've00:16:00
walked too far away and you need to walk00:16:02
back in the opposite directions that you00:16:04
are within range again00:16:06
it could just be a matter of maybe you00:16:08
are within range but because of the00:16:09
unique placement of where the antenna is00:16:11
for this router or access point maybe00:16:14
it's behind a wall or something it's00:16:15
interfering of the signal00:16:17
so yeah things to keep in mind guys when00:16:19
it comes to Wi-Fi networking make sure00:16:21
you're in range make sure there are not00:16:24
things in the way uh yeah obvious things00:16:28
right00:16:29
all right and then we've got mobile00:16:32
hotspots and tethering so it's kind of00:16:36
the same thing but at the same time I00:16:37
want to tell you it's not so we just00:16:39
talked about Wi-Fi networking which is00:16:42
generally when we go and take our phones00:16:44
tablets laptops those kinds of things00:16:46
and we connect them to some sort of00:16:47
hotspot or wireless network which is00:16:49
broadcasted usually by a router or an00:16:53
access point now mobile hotspot or00:16:56
tethering is still a hotspot or a Wi-Fi00:16:59
connection but it's not broadcasted then00:17:01
by a router or an access point guys you00:17:04
can actually take your phone your tablet00:17:07
and even your laptops yes even your00:17:09
laptops and if you have a connection on00:17:12
your phone double laptop you can in fact00:17:14
broadcast that wirelessly and when you00:17:18
do that other devices can connect to it00:17:21
just like they would connect to any00:17:23
other normal Wireless communication yep00:17:26
things you did not know00:17:27
so first of all hotspot is when you take00:17:31
your phone and you make a hotspot00:17:34
um when you do that you need to keep in00:17:36
mind it's going to be using your data so00:17:39
if you take your phone or your tablet00:17:42
and you make a hotspot you can call it00:17:43
whatever you want you can see there it's00:17:45
called CompTIA mobile hotspot in the00:17:46
picture you can call it whatever you00:17:48
want you can go put a password on it00:17:50
which is something we recommend you can00:17:52
go put Mac filtering on it yep even cell00:17:55
phones allow you to put in a Mac filter00:17:56
for those of you know what that is you00:17:58
can do that it's just added security so00:18:00
that not just any willy-nilly can00:18:01
connect to your your network even if00:18:03
they've got the password if their Mac00:18:05
address is not in your filter and gonna00:18:08
happen they're not gonna be able to00:18:09
connect to it so when people connect to00:18:11
your hotspot they will be using your00:18:14
phone's data or your tablets data00:18:17
something you should definitely keep in00:18:18
mind because it can very quickly get00:18:20
very expensive or it can very quickly00:18:22
use all your data not something you00:18:25
obviously want to go and do I mean00:18:26
that's really going to suck right00:18:28
um tethering pretty much the same deal00:18:30
when you guys can see there in the00:18:31
picture so you can either go and do USB00:18:32
tethering you can go do mobile Wi-Fi00:18:35
hotspot or you can go and do Bluetooth00:18:37
tethering all the same thing in the end00:18:40
of the day all right let's move on to our next00:18:43
topic mobile device wired connection00:18:46
methods so these are obviously mobile00:18:48
devices device you can pick up and well00:18:51
go this is not going to be a desktop PC00:18:54
and you're probably wondering okay well00:18:56
there why am I saying that because a00:18:59
laptop kind of technically classifies a00:19:03
mobile device too if you think about it00:19:04
because well you can pick it up and you00:19:07
can go00:19:08
it is mobile you can put in the bag you00:19:10
can carry it with you now granted it's a00:19:13
bit oversized if you don't compare it to00:19:15
a phone or a tablet but it is still a00:19:18
mobile device technically00:19:20
on that note since we're talking about00:19:23
wired connection methods that would also00:19:25
mean laptop ports so what can we plug00:19:28
into a laptop Port guys pretty much00:19:30
anything these days if you go and check00:19:33
laptop as USB ports and USB well00:19:36
anything works on USB these days00:19:38
depending on your laptop you might be00:19:40
able to plug in VGA that's your screens00:19:43
the old analog video signal you might be00:19:45
able to plug in HDMI or display ports00:19:49
that's the newer versions the fancy00:19:51
technical ports there's a lot of ports00:19:53
you can go and plug into your laptop way00:19:55
more than a phone or a tablet00:19:57
and as for smartphones and tablets that00:20:00
would be for the most part USBC for most00:20:03
modern devices these days now yes I know00:20:07

um use USBC but not necessarily all of00:20:11
them but very soon it will be all of00:20:14
them in some countries there's actually00:20:16
a law passing now where they're kind of00:20:18
forcing some manufacturers I think00:20:19
iPhone is one of them where they're00:20:21
being forced to use USBC now and there's00:20:25
a very good reason behind that because00:20:26
we're wasting a lot guys wouldn't it be00:20:29
nice if we can all just use the same00:20:30
freaking charger you can go anywhere you00:20:32
can borrow someone's charger but Bob00:20:34
there you go or if you had an old cell00:20:36
phone which is now too old or no longer00:20:38
working and you get a new cell phone or00:20:40
mobile device and the new one works in00:20:42
the old ones charger wouldn't that be00:20:44
nice so now it's it's probably gonna00:20:47
happen where you're gonna be able to buy00:20:49
a phone in the future or phone or a00:20:51
tablet and when you buy that it may or may not00:20:54
come with a charger the charger might00:20:56
actually be sold separately because a00:20:57
lot of folks are buying mobile devices00:20:59
only to get a charger included when they00:21:02
actually have two or three spares lying00:21:03

devices and this is going to be good for00:21:17

yeah USBC guys is pretty much what we00:21:21
use for pretty much most cell phones and00:21:23
tablets these days not mentioned other00:21:24
devices you also get micro USB or well00:21:28
