00:00:00
hello there and welcome back I hope
00:00:02
you're all doing well this is the second
00:00:04
part of my main King Tiger build in the
00:00:07
last part of this kit I did the
00:00:09
construction refined some textures and
00:00:12
added a bit of metal damage in this part
00:00:15
I will paint the camo scheme add some
00:00:17
basic weathering and also try to
00:00:19
seriously paint the included figures I
00:00:22
hope you all
00:00:23
enjoy first I have to disassemble the
00:00:25
model this will make priming and
00:00:28
painting later easier
00:00:36
now I can cover everything with a layer
00:00:38
of fos ma primer black this will unify
00:00:41
the surface and make any imperfections
00:00:44
or gaps between the parts easier to fix
00:00:47
the primer is thinned with a few drops
00:00:49
of flow
00:00:53
improver it should then dry for at least
00:00:55
24 hours before I can
00:00:57
continue for the base color I I chose
00:01:00
fho dark yellow thint with a little bit
00:01:02
of flow
00:01:04
improver for an even coverage I need
00:01:07
between three and four thin layers of
00:01:09
paint working in thin layers helps to
00:01:11
keep the details more visible and
00:01:13
reduces the risk of the paint
00:01:22
pooling like the black primer I let the
00:01:24
yellow layer dry for another 24
00:01:28
hours
00:01:34
for the camo I will allow a little bit
00:01:36
of artistic
00:01:37
Freedom the hull will be painted similar
00:01:40
to that shown in the instructions while
00:01:43
I will take inspiration from the hobby
00:01:45
boss King Tiger for the
00:01:47
turret the turret will be split into
00:01:50
three parts a brown a yellow and a green
00:01:53
one for that I mask off the areas I
00:01:56
wanted to keep
00:01:57
yellow for the hull I will be be using
00:02:00
masking putty like I did on the panther
00:02:03
the putty can simply be put onto the
00:02:05
model and then transformed into the
00:02:07
desired shape if the paint underneath is
00:02:10
completely dry the partty should never
00:02:12
damage
00:02:13
it and this is the finished masking it's
00:02:16
not one to one made from the
00:02:18
instructions but I referenced it to get
00:02:20
a rough idea of the ratio between the
00:02:22
three
00:02:25
colors the green is ak's olive green the
00:02:29
paint is thin down with ak's acrylic
00:02:31
thinner the opacity of these AK colors
00:02:34
is so great that even with thin layers I
00:02:36
only needed two coats for a perfect
00:02:39
[Music]
00:02:50
[Music]
00:02:52
color after a few minutes I can
00:02:54
carefully remove the masking
00:02:58
partty the partty can be reused later by
00:03:01
kneading it until it has a uniform color
00:03:07
[Music]
00:03:11
again I then repeat the whole masking
00:03:14
process again this time for the brown
00:03:17
spots the brown is AK is red Brown
00:03:20
thinned again with acrylic
00:03:22
thinner you should make sure to spray
00:03:24
from different angles so as to not
00:03:27
accidentally leave one side of the erace
00:03:29
detail it's
00:03:46
unpainted and this is the turret after
00:03:49
painting the masking worked great and I
00:03:51
only have a little bit of overspray that
00:03:53
I can easily
00:03:58
fix
00:04:00
I also painted a few road wheels green
00:04:02
and
00:04:04
brown because the side skirts are not
00:04:07
attached I have to mask and paint them
00:04:26
separately I also chose to paint the
00:04:29
barrel in a German gray that was used as
00:04:31
a heat resistant primer during World War
00:04:36
II I am painting the parts of the hull
00:04:39
where the side skirts are missing in the
00:04:41
German red primer this would have been
00:04:44
the color the tank was primed in the
00:04:46
factory the red looks really out of
00:04:49
place right now but will be toned down a
00:04:51
lot after the
00:04:53
weathering the deals could be added
00:04:55
without any varnish since their
00:04:57
positions on the tank are rather flat
00:05:06
next up is chipping for the base color I
00:05:09
mixed the dark yellow with scent
00:05:15
beige I then take a small piece of
00:05:17
sponge and dip it into the paint wipe
00:05:20
off the excess and then gently tap it
00:05:22
all over the
00:05:24
tank you could do all of this with a
00:05:26
brush but it would take a lot more time
00:05:30
the sponge helps to create random
00:05:31
patterns to focus on the details that
00:05:34
stick out and save you a lot of time but
00:05:37
you have to make sure to keep the
00:05:38
minimal amount of paint on the sponge
00:05:41
otherwise your chips will be too big and
00:05:43
look
00:05:52
[Music]
00:05:54
unrealistic but I will still take a
00:05:56
brush to connect a few chips into larger
00:05:58
spots and and also add some
00:06:01
scratches on the shell impacts a lot of
00:06:04
paint would have been chipped
00:06:06
[Music]
00:06:13
off now I have to fill the previously
00:06:16
added chips with a darker color in this
00:06:18
case German gray this will help give the
00:06:21
chips more texture I only keep a thin
00:06:24
line of the lighter yellow visible to
00:06:26
highlight the
00:06:27
edge this will can take some time but it
00:06:31
will always be worth it in the
00:06:41
end all metal Parts like the towing
00:06:44
cables and tools are painted with a
00:06:46
metallic silver as the base
00:06:54
color for the wooden Parts I chose AK
00:06:58
buff
00:07:01
the exhausts are painted in Saddle
00:07:05
Brown the outer parts of the road wheels
00:07:07
that are in contact with the Trix are
00:07:09
painted with reel's aqua color
00:07:17
steel I also painted the visible
00:07:20
interior parts
00:07:22
white the tracks are also primed in
00:07:25
black on top of that I give them a base
00:07:28
color of fos track
00:07:30
primer make sure to get the tracks from
00:07:32
all angles to avoid unpainted
00:07:37
areas now I want to paint the areas that
00:07:39
would be in contact with the ground all
00:07:42
I need for that is some metallic a dry
00:07:44
brush and a paper
00:07:46
towel I dip the brush into the paint and
00:07:49
then load off most of it onto the paper
00:07:51
towel leaving only a small amount of
00:07:53
paint on the brush and I simply drag the
00:07:55
brush over the tracks leaving paint only
00:07:57
on the erased areas
00:08:03
now I can take an enamel track wash to
00:08:05
add some Shadows before application I
00:08:08
cover the tricks in a gloss
00:08:16
varnish the spare tracks for the turret
00:08:19
are instead covered in different rust
00:08:20
tones using AK weathering
00:08:23
pencils the colors are applied in
00:08:25
decreasing order from dark to
00:08:28
light
00:08:38
while those are drying I can take a look
00:08:40
at the
00:08:41
figures this is my first try to actually
00:08:44
paint faces in a more realistic way and
00:08:47
let's see how this is going to turn out
00:08:50
first I primed the figures gray then I
00:08:53
mixed some sent beige with sand Brown
00:08:55
for the base color of the skin this
00:08:57
color is then applied in two coats over
00:08:59
the entire
00:09:10
[Music]
00:09:14
head next up I made a red wash with
00:09:17
highly diluted fire red from valo I then
00:09:20
cover the entire head with it and with
00:09:22
an empty brush I can remove some of the
00:09:27
excess after drying this gives the head
00:09:30
a warmer tone and some basic
00:09:33
Shadows all I have to do next is repaint
00:09:36
the more exposed areas with a small
00:09:38
brush at first I used the same base
00:09:41
color as before to Rel lighten some
00:09:43
areas then I took lighter and lighter
00:09:45
skin tones covering smaller areas each
00:09:53
time up close this looks a little bit
00:09:56
weird to be honest but on the finished
00:09:58
figures it should look better or so I
00:10:01
hope I did not try to paint the eyes as
00:10:04
that would have for sure ruined the
00:10:06
figures even
00:10:09
more for the uniform I used black gray
00:10:12
lightened with a small amount of old
00:10:14
wood the uniform as well as the details
00:10:17
are then simply colored in I Tred to add
00:10:20
some highlight onto the uniform by
00:10:22
adding more old wood onto the black gray
00:10:25
but it was not that visible on
00:10:28
camera
00:10:36
and these are the finished figures it
00:10:39
would have probably been easier if I
00:10:40
used higher quality figures but these
00:10:43
are the two that were included and they
00:10:45
already had the right
00:10:46
poses figure painting is definitely an
00:10:49
area I still have a lot to learn and
00:10:51
try let's get back to the
00:10:53
tank now that I finished the painting
00:10:56
part using acrylics I can use a gloss
00:10:59
vanish to seal everything for the
00:11:00
upcoming weathering
00:11:02
effects the weathering begins with a
00:11:04
basic pin wash for that I mix some up
00:11:07
tyong 502 Brown Wash oil color with
00:11:10
white
00:11:13
Spirit the wash is then applied over all
00:11:16
details it turned out lighter than I
00:11:18
wanted so I added some smoke oil paint
00:11:21
into the mix to darken
00:11:27
everything
00:11:40
after letting the wash dry for about 15
00:11:42
minutes I take a cotton swap dipped in
00:11:44
some white Spirit to clean everything up
00:11:48
I just have to carefully swipe over the
00:11:50
surface to remove the
00:11:57
excess I then use a brush for the finer
00:12:01
and more precise
00:12:07
details next up are the mut effects for
00:12:09
the lower Hull for those I will be using
00:12:12
MC loose ground
00:12:14
splashes to get a fine splatter effect I
00:12:16
blow air with my airbrush onto a brush
00:12:19
dipped in the mud
00:12:24
effect a few minutes later I drag the
00:12:26
little drops down with a weathering
00:12:28
brush
00:12:29
this will create the effect of mud
00:12:30
stains running down the side of the hull
00:12:33
as most of this will be covered by the
00:12:35
tracks I just do very basic mud effects
00:12:38
and won't waste much time here this part
00:12:41
may be better visible later due to the
00:12:43
missing s skirts that's why I added some
00:12:46
more pronounced M effects
00:12:55
here and this is the finished result
00:13:03
now I can finally add the running gear
00:13:05
to the lower H due to the polycaps I
00:13:08
don't have to use glue and can just put
00:13:10
them onto the
00:13:20
axles this also helps when adding the
00:13:23
tracks because the drive sprocket has to
00:13:25
be in the right position for the track
00:13:27
to fit
00:13:29
but with some wiggling everything worked
00:13:36
out to give them the same base mud
00:13:39
weathering like the lower Hull I am
00:13:41
thinning some of the loose ground
00:13:42
splashes with white spirit and apply it
00:13:45
like a heavy wash over the
00:13:50
tracks the same goes for the road wheels
00:13:53
this time with the airbrush
00:13:57
again
00:14:00
finally it is time to add the side
00:14:02
skirts the easiest way for this is with
00:14:04
super glue the correct positioning is no
00:14:08
problem due to the guides on the
00:14:16
hull these obviously need the same color
00:14:19
of the basic mud effect like the
00:14:24
rest here I need to increase the mut
00:14:26
effects the missing fender would result
00:14:29
in a lot of mud being sprayed on the
00:14:31
hull and even the
00:14:35
turret next are the streaking effects
00:14:37
with streaking Grime rain marks effects
00:14:40
and dust and dirt all from AK I begin by
00:14:43
adding streaks all over the vertical
00:14:48
surfaces after a few minutes of drying I
00:14:51
take a brush dampened in white spirit
00:14:53
and blend everything together dragging
00:14:55
the streaks up and
00:14:57
down
00:15:06
the same steps are repeated for the
00:15:07
remaining two
00:15:19
colors the shiny metal Parts all look
00:15:21
Factory new to fix that I add a thin
00:15:24
layer of AK medium rust over all metal
00:15:27
surfaces
00:15:37
to reduce the shiny look from the gloss
00:15:39
varnish I have to add a layer of mette
00:15:41
varnish over everything this will also
00:15:44
seal in everything I've done so far and
00:15:46
protect it
00:15:48
again now I can add the heavier M
00:15:50
effects to add volume I use valo Earth
00:15:54
texture I applied set texture over the
00:15:57
lower plate
00:16:01
the acrylic based mut effects from
00:16:03
Valero and AK have a lot more volume
00:16:05
than the expensive enamel based products
00:16:07
from MC that's why whenever I have to
00:16:10
build up a larger accumulation of dirt I
00:16:12
begin with these products later on I may
00:16:15
modify the mod with the enal products if
00:16:17
I need to but for that I will probably
00:16:20
wait until I start building a diarama
00:16:22
for this tank to better match the
00:16:27
colors a small amount of oil paint is
00:16:30
Blended into a fine Grime effect with a
00:16:32
dry
00:16:35
brush this will add some more color
00:16:37
variation to the horizontal
00:16:41
[Music]
00:16:49
surfaces some details like the ammo belt
00:16:51
for the machine gun need to be painted
00:16:53
in
00:16:54
breast I also want to create some empty
00:16:57
casings by painting a thin piece of
00:16:59
metal and cutting it into smaller pieces
00:17:02
later I also want to add a few
00:17:04
additional storage and Equipment items a
00:17:07
hand grenade carrying case some
00:17:09
anti-tank mines as well as some
00:17:10
different Jerry
00:17:12
cans these are all parts from Tamia's
00:17:14
accessory
00:17:17
kits all of them get painted in their
00:17:19
base color with a
00:17:25
brush then a light metal chipping from
00:17:28
reel aqua color is
00:17:36
added to add some contrast I cover all
00:17:39
items in a thin layer of rust
00:17:43
wash I attached a thread to the turret
00:17:46
and threaded all the items onto
00:17:48
it some of them are later fixed with
00:17:57
Superglue
00:17:59
the bucket gets filled with ak's puddle
00:18:01
water and then I add a few Dead Leaves
00:18:03
into
00:18:08
it here are some of the mtk things I
00:18:10
painted earlier I just dropped them onto
00:18:13
the turret but won't glue them for now I
00:18:16
will probably revisit this tank again
00:18:18
when I get around to building a diarama
00:18:20
for
00:18:22
it that's all let's take a look at the
00:18:25
final
00:18:27
result
00:18:30
the King Tiger is finally finished and I
00:18:32
have to say I am very pleased with the
00:18:34
result the kit was a lot of fun to make
00:18:36
and I can only recommend it if you also
00:18:39
enjoyed it please leave a like and if
