Будучи летающей лодкой с реактивными двигателями с достаточно большими массо-габаритными характеристиками, Бе-200 является одним из наиболее необычных серийных самолетов в мире. Самолет способен работать как на суше, так и на воде, выполняя патрулирование, поиск, спасательные миссии, а так же операции по тушению пожаров. В основной на данный момент противопожарной версии Бе-200 несет 12 тонн воды, забирая ее при глиссировании прямо с поверхности водоемов. Самолет активно эксплуатируется в России и арендуется иностранными государствами для проведение противопожарных операций в локальных зонах.
