Морис Тийе родился 23 октября 1903 года в Российской империи, на Урале и до 14 лет выглядел абсолютно нормально, более того, парня даже называли «Ангелом» за его красивое лицо. В 1917 году Тийе и его мать покинули Россию из-за революции и переехали во Францию. В это время внешность Мориса стала заметно меняться, и к 20 годам он совсем не был похож на обычного молодого парня. В первую очередь сильно разрослись кости черепа, а также локти с коленями. Однако Тийе не опустил руки. Он жил, учился, служил на флоте и активно занимался спортом. Увлекся рекби. В одном из матчей против сборной Англии за успехи в спорте Морис удостоился рукопожатия самого Короля Георга V. В конце 30-х годов Морис Тийе стал профессиональным борцом-рестлером и переехал в США. И вот там его ждал оглушительный успех. 4 сентября 1954 г Мориса Тийе скончался от сердечного приступа, не сумев пережить потерю близкого друга. Несмотря на очевидное сходство студия «Dreamworks» отрицает, что знаменитый «Шрэк» был срисован с Мориса Тийе, однако, известно, что плакат с фотографией Тийе висел на киностудии во время работы над мультфильмом.
