Ещё в 1832 году русский изобретатель Павел Львович Шиллинг продемонстрировал первый в мире телеграф, при помощи которого можно было передавать электрические сигналы на расстояние. А в 1876 году американский изобретатель Эллайша Грей придумал музыкальный телеграф с рояльной клавиатурой в две октавы и с встроенным динамиком. Он и подумать не мог, что изобрёл музыкальный инструмент, который даст толчок к появлению абсолютно нового направления в искусстве — электронной музыке.
