Children typically grow two inches in height each year between age one and puberty—this increases to four inches a year during puberty. Your height typically stops increasing between ages eighteen and twenty. If you’re under twenty and want to grow taller, this information is for you. While there is a genetic limitation to your maximum height, you can support your growth with nutrients. Nutrient deficiencies can significantly reduce your height. Three types of hormones are directly related to growing taller: • Human growth hormone (HGH) • Insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) • Thyroid hormones Low HGH can be caused by: 1.
