Родился Николай Яковлевич Куркаев 25 ноября 1947 года в деревне Малаховцы Барановичского района. В 1971 году обратился к Господу через покаяние. В 1972 году впервые стал проповедовать слово Божье. В 1984 году был избран на дьяконское служение в церкви "Спасение" г. Барановичи. Впоследствии до 1989 года был пастором этой церкви. В марте 1991 года прошёл I съезд Христиан веры евангельской СССР. Председателем Союза ХВЕ СССР был избран Роман Иванович Билас, а его первым заместителем - Николай Куркаев, который в то время был старшим пресвитером Союза ХВЕ Беларуси. После избрания Николай Яковлевич переехал в Москву, где продолжил пасторское служение. По возвращении из Москвы, был избран на служение епископа Объединения ХВЕ в Брестской области Объединенной Церкви Христиан Веры Евангельской в Республике Беларусь. 1 декабря 2013 года (воскресенье) Николай Куркаев отошёл в вечность. Траурное служение прошло 2 декабря 2013 года в церкви "Спасение".
