Одна из крупнейших компаний в Европе Auga Group разработала первый в мире гибридный трактор Auga M1, использующий в работе биометан и электроэнергию. Машина оснащена гибридным двигателем мощностью 400 л.с., который использует в качестве топлива биометан и электричество. Чтобы обеспечить настолько высокую мощность, агрегат использует нестандартную для такого вида спецтехники систему привода. Так, внутри трактора установлен классический ДВС, в котором сгорает биометан. Он приводит в движение электрогенератор, продуцирующий ток. Это электричество передаётся четырём электродвигателям, вращающим колёса. Запатентованная система позволяет не затрачивать энергию при низких нагрузках, и при необходимости генерировать большую мощность, работая до 12 часов. Кроме того, трактор оснащается системой рекуперации энергии – неиспользованный ток накапливается в аккумуляторах. Это обеспечивает высокую автономность. При полностью заправленных баллонах биометана трактор может проработать полную рабочую смену. Auga M1 также оснащается быстросменными баллонами для биометана. Это позволяет «заправлять» трактор непосредственно в поле.
