00:00:21

00:00:24
all right you know him you love him from
00:00:25
the mummy from doom patrol brendan
00:00:27
fraser
00:00:29
[Applause]
00:00:48

00:00:59
warm welcome to you know and from the
00:01:00
mummy and star trek discovery oh dead
00:01:04
[Applause]
00:01:16
thank goodness i just want to say
00:01:19
before we came out here a certain
00:01:20
somebody on the far end of the couch
00:01:22
tried to make me mispronounce his name
00:01:25
it didn't work didn't work oh dead yes
00:01:27
it's it's uh yeah that's right od far
00:01:32
i told him i was going to get and i am
00:01:33
borton
00:01:35
[Laughter]
00:01:38
all right fellas uh
00:01:39
so surprise we're here to talk today
00:01:41
about the mummy you probably heard
00:01:44
um what i want to know so
00:01:47
a fan company has made a bumper sticker
00:01:49
in the past year called honk if you have
00:01:51
seen the 1999 cinematic masterpiece the
00:01:53
mummy do any of you had this bumper
00:01:55
sticker
00:01:56
i knew it i knew it so here we are a few
00:01:59
years later um
00:02:01
has it how's it felt to see such love
00:02:03
for this film and this franchise and
00:02:05
your characters continue
00:02:09
i i i
00:02:11
the mummy you know was basically my
00:02:14
first job
00:02:15
uh
00:02:17
it it's you know
00:02:19
i started off doing the mummy and thing
00:02:21
to myself so this is my life you know
00:02:23
doing these kind of movies absolutely no
00:02:25
problem
00:02:26
um [Music]
00:02:28
it's it's so fabulous it's fabulous that
00:02:30
people are still enjoying it still
00:02:33
loving it their kids are loving it of
00:02:35
course you feel slightly old yeah yeah
00:02:37
how did that happen yeah it's like you
00:02:39
know work
00:02:40
a lot a lot you've been saying the car
00:02:42
right over here like a lot of oh my mom
00:02:44
really loves
00:02:46
them
00:02:47
hi mom
00:02:49
yeah today i get a lot a lot of
00:02:51
autographs for you know oh emma is that
00:02:54
you
00:02:55
no no it's for my mom oh okay sure yeah
00:02:58
absolutely yeah i'm good with moms so
00:03:01
yeah
00:03:02
[Applause]
00:03:07
it's all good
00:03:09
oh okay
00:03:10
well even i when i thought about that
00:03:12
bumper sticker and thought in 1999 i'm
00:03:14
like oh
00:03:15
okay okay
00:03:17
that felt like it was yesterday
00:03:19
um so given that and i know it's it's a
00:03:22
bit of time to go back through do each
00:03:24
of you remember you know when you went
00:03:25
into audition kind of how the film was
00:03:27
pitched to you like what what kind of
00:03:29
what the the log line was uh this is
00:03:32
gonna be uh steven was like okay this is
00:03:34
it's gonna be like
00:03:36
the terminator but the mummy is like
00:03:39
jaws he's a shark he won't quit
00:03:42
i like a terminator shark that's kind of
00:03:44
cool right
00:03:47
i think they already made that movie
00:03:49
dude but you know
00:03:52
the script was
00:03:54
great
00:04:01
such conviction
00:04:04
and he would be like on the day he'd
00:04:06
always be oh the good thing is is that
00:04:07
the
00:04:08
director is also the writer so we just
00:04:10
completely cut out the middleman
00:04:13
i don't know just do this do it the way
00:04:14
you do it just whatever you do just
00:04:16
don't suck
00:04:18
yeah
00:04:20
oh constantly don't eff it up i'm like
00:04:22
i'm i'm a brand new actor right this is
00:04:24
my first job i'm there i'm nervous as
00:04:26
heck i think i'm doing everything wrong
00:04:29
and every time i go
00:04:30
what do you think he goes yeah just
00:04:32
don't screw it up
00:04:35
okay i can do that
00:04:37
it's good advice
00:04:39
yeah i mean he was he was so then he'd
00:04:41
be like oh okay ready and
00:04:44
action don't suck and the whole place
00:04:47
would blow up and
00:04:49
fall down and you know and explode and
00:04:51
be great all right that was awesome that
00:04:53
was awesome
00:04:56
i feel like if i was given direction
00:04:57
don't suck i would immediately f it up
00:05:00
yeah
00:05:01
yeah yeah
00:05:03
well
00:05:04
you know and it being your first film
00:05:06
and i feel like it was maybe like your
00:05:08
first like super action heavy in that
00:05:10
way film um it is a very i mean it's
00:05:12
romance too of course we love that but
00:05:14
action adventure
00:05:15
uh do you remember kind of your stunt
00:05:18
training
00:05:19
for the film
00:05:21
sure uh there you know there was
00:05:22
fighting but my stunt man was awesome
00:05:26
so
00:05:29
i came out looking really good
00:05:33
um
00:05:34
there were there was you know the gun
00:05:36
play and all that and uh what else
00:05:38
horses
00:05:39
remember there's a lot we got no no it
00:05:41
was camels at first but the camels are
00:05:42
really boring
00:05:44
so we got on horses after a while just
00:05:45
to break it up
00:05:47
because
00:05:48
camels are dumb
00:05:53
nobody trusted me to ride a horse
00:05:56
uh so on the first film
00:05:58
uh it was so incredibly embarrassing
00:06:00
because i don't know if you remember the
00:06:01
scene
00:06:02
uh in the campgrounds where you pull out
00:06:05
the the dynamite stick and i'm like oh
00:06:08
okay you know get on my horse and just
00:06:09
tell you you know stop fighting and get
00:06:11
out of here or we'll all die something
00:06:14
and uh
00:06:15
we're shooting the scene and they bring
00:06:17
up these apple boxes and they actually
00:06:20
have me standing
00:06:21
on the apple boxes with my leg over the
00:06:24
horse and they go action i sit down
00:06:27
i say yeah i'm she
00:06:29
and then i i'm like i want to ride off
00:06:31
and they're like no no no no don't move
00:06:33
don't move get the stun guy in
00:06:35
you're not ready you're not ready
00:06:38
and it was that embarrassing which is
00:06:40
what caused me to train a lot for the
00:06:42
second movie
00:06:44
you learned i got to do everything
00:06:45
myself but i remember your boots
00:06:49
on the apple box with the heel in them
00:06:51
yeah well okay poor oh dead i'm not on it man he'd
00:06:53
be like he'd be like oh he had these
00:06:55
heels like this you know and did we be
00:06:58
in the sand so he's like always walking
00:06:59
around like this
00:07:01
the heels are falling down sticking out
00:07:03
okay okay the reason i had heels is
00:07:05
because if you look at this guy okay the
00:07:08
first people you meet when you do a
00:07:09
movie is you meet the costume department
00:07:11
right you got to get your costume going
00:07:13
and i'm standing there and i think to
00:07:14
myself you know pretty impressive six
00:07:17
foot one
00:07:18
almost
00:07:19
and uh no no it's six foot one and uh
00:07:22
and they're like okay we gotta do
00:07:24
something about this guy let's give him
00:07:25
some heels
00:07:27
and he's wearing a dress and not tall
00:07:29
enough will put some big something on
00:07:30
his head so when he stands next to
00:07:32
brendan
00:07:34
so that's so that was my uh
00:07:37
so for the next two movies i'm running
00:07:39
around with heels and a dress and the
00:07:41
facial scar tattoos that was my idea oh
00:07:46
no it wasn't really
00:07:50
what i'm hearing is it's all your fault
00:07:53
yeah it's on me
00:07:55
sorry i'm still hung up on thinking back
00:07:57
to the camels and i'm thinking you know
00:07:58
when you picture a majestic steed uh
00:08:00
it's not camel
00:08:02
it's not
00:08:03
so i think you're right in that you know
00:08:05
horses horses win that battle
00:08:08
yay horses gay horses
00:08:12
um okay so i know we're here to talk
00:08:14
about the mummy and uh that's why you're
00:08:16
all here and we're here because you're
00:08:17
here so um there as atomic blonde
00:08:20
pointed out uh q a microphones on either
00:08:22
aisle you'll see staff members with
00:08:24
their hands up you can go ahead and line
00:08:25
up i'm going to ask a couple more
00:08:26
questions but then it's all you it's all
00:08:29
you um
00:08:30
and i'm gonna i'm gonna go off script a
00:08:33
little bit uh because
00:08:34
you are both very talented and have been
00:08:36
in uh oh
00:08:38
stop it just uh more thank you
00:08:41
i mean you're fine you're fine um
00:08:43
[Applause]
00:08:45
but you've both been in many other
00:08:46
things uh besides the mummy so i just
00:08:48
wanna pick a couple of your recent
00:08:49
projects that i'm that i'm a fan of uh
00:08:51
because i'm selfish and i have a
00:08:52
microphone um
00:08:54
and talk about odette i want to talk
00:08:56
about star trek discovery because
00:08:59
that's what i thought
00:09:01
what i thought um you know first of all
00:09:03
it's star trek so being a part of that
00:09:05
franchise got to be pretty cool and i
00:09:07
wanna hear about your experience in
00:09:09
joining that i mean such a beloved
00:09:12
universal franchise
00:09:14
well
00:09:15
um
00:09:16
it was amazing to be cast in it and i'm
00:09:19
on the phone to my wife
00:09:21
on the first day when i walk on set
00:09:24
and i'm on the phone to her and i'm
00:09:25
going sweetheart oh my god i'm standing
00:09:28
in front of the bridge
00:09:30
it's amazing it's so exciting
00:09:33
it's so stunningly beautiful and she's
00:09:35
like
00:09:36
a br a bridge to where
00:09:39
where are you going
00:09:41
like star trek honey the bridge the
00:09:43
bridge and she's like i don't know i
00:09:45
don't know
00:09:46
it's like that's great for you so that
00:09:48
was that was kind of put me back on
00:09:50
earth but no it's it's it's it's such an
00:09:53
incredible um
00:09:55
brooklyn bridge
00:09:56
brooklyn sweetheart
00:09:59
it's such an amazing uh franchise to be
00:10:01
a part of um
00:10:03
and the the wonderful thing is is the
00:10:05
show
00:10:06
is the star so we're all
00:10:09
just happy to be there all just uh
00:10:11
uh enjoying the the
00:10:13
just every moment it's like every time
00:10:15
we're we're looking at the the
00:10:17
the structures they build the the sets
00:10:20
it's it's fabulous and it's a lot of fun
00:10:22
and i feel very blessed to be a part of
00:10:23
it that's awesome if you're not watching
00:10:25
star trek discovery what are you doing
00:10:27
watch it so good
00:10:29
uh similarly if you're not watching doom
00:10:31
patrol who watches doom patrol
00:10:33
okay
00:10:35
i thought a few of you might um
00:10:37
brendan cliff is me uh
00:10:40
not as much trauma but definitely i
00:10:42
haven't i have an angry side
00:10:44
he's such a tremendously layered
00:10:46
character because there is so much more
00:10:48
beneath
00:10:49
uh the cursing there's there's a lot of
00:10:51
that um
00:10:52
how has it been is speaking of another
00:10:54
you know you're joining the dc comics
00:10:56
university
00:10:57
excuse me doom patrol is pretty beloved
00:10:59
um what's it been like exploring that
00:11:00
role
00:11:02
cliff steele was
00:11:03
those in the know he was a race car
00:11:05
driver his car went bang and his brain
00:11:07
got put into a big tin can man
00:11:10
and then he woke up under the
00:11:14
the power of niles calder his quasi boss
00:11:17
doctor
00:11:18
later enemy just watch the show you'll
00:11:20
see
00:11:21
and
00:11:22
and he wasn't such a great guy
00:11:25
back in the day
00:11:27
um
00:11:28
and his journey is to redeem himself and
00:11:33
i loved cliff because he is
00:11:37
he he wants to become a better person
00:11:39
and you you act he was always written to
00:11:42
be um he's a he's a better human being as a
00:11:46
robot than he ever was as a human being
00:11:50
driving her around anyone you know i
00:11:52
mean and
00:11:54
um that voyage is something that's
00:11:55
similar with all the characters that
00:11:57
that they all take they don't fight bad
00:12:00
guys they fight their inner demons and
00:12:03
they take care of each other they
00:12:04
squabble um
00:12:06
it's its own show we're in season four
00:12:09
now stay tuned
00:12:12
and um so check it out oh i'm gonna
00:12:15
tease one thing about it in season four
00:12:17
i think it's episode
00:12:19
nine
00:12:20
full blown musical
00:12:26
this guy
00:12:27
singing
00:12:29
singing yeah
00:12:30
okay
00:12:31
a little bit no no i'm just here dude
00:12:34
what are you doing to me i got boss i'll
00:12:36
give you a a a beat
00:12:40
oh dead fair came one day he said
00:12:43
brendan what do you why do i punch like
00:12:45
a girl yeah oh
00:12:47
okay okay he brought it up okay he
00:12:49
brought it up yes yes when we did the
00:12:52
first fight scene
00:12:54
on the mummy we were on the car
00:12:56
traveling through these all these zombie
00:12:58
guys are jumping on the car
00:13:00
and i'm throwing punches and the stun
00:13:03
guy comes over and he goes um oh dad can
00:13:05
you do me a favor when you're punching
00:13:07
can you not do this
00:13:13
it's not as effective no no it was it
00:13:15
was classical training
00:13:18
theater training in theater you know to
00:13:20
to kind of swing the punch backwards but
00:13:22
on camera it looks like this
00:13:24
i just let this stunt man do it he's
00:13:27
awesome yeah so
00:13:30
that's what they train for
00:13:32
it makes sense
00:13:33
okay thank you for both indulging me and
00:13:35
all of you for invalid indulging me and
00:13:36
non-mommy questions but now it's your
00:13:38
turn um i'm gonna switch between sides
00:13:41
and ideally um questions for both
00:13:42
panelists please so let's start over
00:13:44
here on the left
00:13:45
uh please tell us your name and question
00:13:48
hello my name is joe and i'm from
00:13:50
seattle and i wanted to say
00:13:53
absolutely absolutely love all your
00:13:55
movies this is for brendan brennan i
00:13:57
want to say thank you
00:14:00
oh
00:14:01
i love your movies
00:14:07
thank you
00:14:08
um it's great because i got a chance to
00:14:10
share some of your movies with my kids
00:14:12
for the first time and they started fall
00:14:14
in love with them i just showed them all
00:14:16
three mummy films and i told them did
00:14:18
you know that they're gonna be here
00:14:19
and they got excited and this was the
00:14:21
one they were most excited about and i
00:14:23
absolutely love it some of the things
00:14:25
that most people you know may not know
00:14:27
your role in muggy bone
00:14:29
and
00:14:30
absolutely love you in that and one of
00:14:32
my all-time favorites bedazzled
00:14:35
my question for you
00:14:38
thank you miss establish
00:14:40
great
00:14:44
wow
00:14:45
roughly translating colombian and no
00:14:47
thank you i'm allergic to shellfish
00:14:52
my question for you is if you could
00:14:54
portray who is your favorite character
00:14:56
to portray and if you could have them
00:14:58
meet your character from the mummy
00:15:01
how do you see that going
00:15:06
that's an epistlistic question
00:15:10
look i loved playing rick o'connell i
00:15:12
had a great time doing that i i there
00:15:16
was so much
00:15:18
big toys to play with we had no idea
00:15:20
what kind of movie we were making we
00:15:23
thought that it was uh straight ahead
00:15:25
action movie part horror movie sometimes
00:15:29
slapstick comedy romance adventure i'm
00:15:32
missing something somewhere and
00:15:35
so i can still hear you still hear rachel
00:15:39
she'd be like i know they're going to
00:15:40
confiscate our equity cards
00:15:45
and i'm like well fine i'm over here
00:15:46
like a beaver just chewing up scenery i
00:15:49
think we'll get through it together you
00:15:50
know um i loved it though i loved it we
00:15:54
were we were we were on location in um
00:15:57
in in the deserts of of marrakech in
00:16:00
morocco and that's when lawrence of
00:16:02
arabia was was shot and conceived i had
00:16:05
that wide open vista
00:16:07
and um that was never lost on on the
00:16:11
cinematographers for sure so it felt
00:16:13
like my first experience with real big
00:16:16
picture movie making which was really
00:16:18
exciting it was really exciting and we
00:16:20
were really there
00:16:22
feeling the heat and everything had that
00:16:24
authenticity of course you know they
00:16:25
were like now we'll just shoot it in new
00:16:26
mexico like and stephen was like no
00:16:28
that'll suck
00:16:30
and so you know we really went for the
00:16:32
real thing but you remember that when we
00:16:33
were it was it was air fruit in the
00:16:36
desert oh yeah and you hear that one
00:16:37
mountain range and we'd be driving home
00:16:39
on these uh
00:16:40
little roads that had piles of white
00:16:42
rocks that were painted white there's no
00:16:44
lights or anything and
00:16:47
over the mountain range that my driver
00:16:49
rasheed was like pointing things out
00:16:52
that's where um my mom met my dad you
00:16:54
know that kind of thing and he goes uh
00:16:56
and you see that mountain range over
00:16:58
there if you go past that mountain range
00:17:01
you'll never come back
00:17:08
i remember i remember that one time when
00:17:10
there was
00:17:11
our set got flooded you remember that
00:17:13
there was also sun like torrential rains
00:17:15
but that in the second one the first one
00:17:16
i don't remember i just remembered that
00:17:18
they brought over
00:17:20
military helicopters
00:17:22
to pick us up and
00:17:24
you're getting into these helicopters
00:17:26
and they they did not feel like they
00:17:28
were new
00:17:29
or or
00:17:30
even taken care of or uh
00:17:34
maintained in any way and it was like
00:17:37
getting into this
00:17:39
everything is shaking
00:17:41
we also we had um
00:17:44
kidnapping insurance taken out honesty
00:17:46
yeah these are the kind of things that
00:17:48
you don't necessarily want to hear about
00:17:51
the late jim jacks who was the producer
00:17:52
was a real talker okay like you have a
00:17:55
conversation with jim he'd be like okay
00:17:56
and you know when he had this this
00:17:57
connective thing he would say or do you
00:17:59
go and you know and you know and you
00:18:01
know you could put the phone down
00:18:04
go and polish your car
00:18:07
come back pick it up and go yeah put it
00:18:09
down
00:18:12
anyway jim was like we're taking out
00:18:15
um kidnapping assurance on all of you we
00:18:17
were insistent it's like he was like
00:18:19
yeah we're gonna take our kingdom
00:18:20
charles like a million bucks on you and
00:18:21
a million bucks on rachel and and kevin
00:18:24
is 125.35 on me
00:18:27
but no kevin kevin j o'connor goes i
00:18:29
just want to ask how much did you take
00:18:31
out on me
00:18:34
i don't remember what he said he was
00:18:36
like 250.
00:18:39
but that'll really mess with your
00:18:41
self-esteem i wouldn't want to know the
00:18:43
number i wouldn't want to know thank you
00:18:44
for your question uh
00:18:47
and you know that reminded me so thank
00:18:50
you and not reminding me i'm well aware
00:18:51
there's more than one mommy movie there
00:18:53
are three so you both uh two two as far
00:18:56
as i remember no that's fair i i don't i
00:18:59
only remember the two
00:19:01
all right i don't know yep only two was
00:19:04
there a third one no no
00:19:06
only two um but you did get to both you
00:19:09
got to return to your to your roles just
00:19:11
the the second time only um
00:19:14
and that but that's not something you
00:19:15
know you get to do always and when you
00:19:17
make films and tv you play the role you
00:19:20
walk away um but you got to come back
00:19:22
you have a sense of this is this world
00:19:24
these are the many things that you know
00:19:26
we are hitting action romance comedy uh
00:19:29
what was it like to come back with the
00:19:30
knowledge you know of having played the
00:19:32
characters and getting to develop them
00:19:33
was like going back for another semester
00:19:35
of college
00:19:37
because we just finished and they went
00:19:38
nope get back here let me turn up and
00:19:41
and you you were the second movie oh dad
00:19:43
you held the fourth down and i want to
00:19:45
say thank you public to everyone he did
00:19:48
he stayed in he stayed behind
00:19:51
we all buggered off back to london with
00:19:54
our air conditioning and he you know he
00:19:56
was stuck out there with the horses
00:19:59
instead of the um yeah he did he uh i
00:20:02
gotta i love you man that was thank you
00:20:04
man
00:20:05
it was very funny because i i didn't
00:20:07
really know the schedule as far as
00:20:09
everybody else is concerned or whatever
00:20:10
i just knew i'm going to morocco for
00:20:12
quite a while
00:20:13
and we're there and they're shooting and
00:20:15
they're shooting and i get to like hey
00:20:17
how you guys doing good to see you and
00:20:18
they're like all right have a good time
00:20:21
and they all buggered off and i'm there
00:20:23
by myself with the stun guys but it was
00:20:25
it was really fabulous it was really
00:20:26
fabulous i loved it
00:20:29
you were all alone
00:20:35
this is me and my horse just you and
00:20:37
your horses who was who was extra short
00:20:42
but that you were probably very andrew
00:20:44
bird
00:20:46
might burn
00:20:48
he was the only one who knew how to work
00:20:50
the bird well the bird trainer didn't
00:20:52
know how to work the bird
00:20:55
oh dead knew how to work the bird the
00:20:56
bird was from england
00:20:58
so the bird was like i'm snoring what is
00:21:00
this desert it's very hot here
00:21:04
what am i supposed to be doing how how
00:21:07
do i fly in this heat it's too hot i'm
00:21:09
just going to sit in the shade yeah but
00:21:11
the first one was like just flew away
00:21:15
you know and then they got like the
00:21:17
spare bird and you were the only one who
00:21:19
trusted they're like ghetto dead because
00:21:21
then they will fly to him and we can all
00:21:23
go get back to the hotel
00:21:25
well i would imagine though that's like
00:21:26
an extra layer of job security won but
00:21:28
having that skill probably upped your
00:21:31
kidnapping insurance like oh well
00:21:33
the the interesting thing was i was 125
00:21:36
35 dollars
00:21:38
uh translated loosely to israeli shekels
00:21:41
there's 700 israeli shekels or something
00:21:43
but uh the bird was you know twenty-five
00:21:46
thousand uh donald's for the bird
00:21:49
so well birds are priceless yes prizes
00:21:52
um over here on our right what's your
00:21:54
name in question my name is christy
00:21:56
carney and um
00:21:59
this is for brendan
00:22:00
um and speaking of college my husband
00:22:03
and i graduated from cornish in 88 and
00:22:05
89 respectively
00:22:07
and we just wanted to say
00:22:09
welcome back to seattle thank you
00:22:11
christy happy that you're here
00:22:14
how how are you i'm feeling great is
00:22:17
james here no he had to stay home we had
00:22:19
a yard tell him i said hello
00:22:21
hello
00:22:22
we went to college together we did
00:22:27
at cornish college like what she said
00:22:28
yeah
00:22:29
all right and i just we really just
00:22:31
wanted to welcome you back and say we're
00:22:32
so pleased and so happy for your career
00:22:34
and the way things have been going we're
00:22:36
just super duper happy for you
00:22:40
thank you
00:22:44
thank you i know i've done this before
00:22:46
that was very nice
00:22:47
uh over here on our left what's your
00:22:50
name in question
00:22:51
hi so my name is conrad and i'm from
00:22:54
seattle and very honored to meet you at
00:22:56
the panel and thanks for the fist bump
00:22:58
brendan that was super epic when i was
00:23:01
like eating lunch so thank you so much
00:23:05
thanks and then also um anybody um
00:23:08
follow me on instagram because i have
00:23:09
interviewed sexy 69 um famous people
00:23:12
just wanted to advertise um that but
00:23:15
anyways
00:23:16
good for you thanks anyways on to the
00:23:19
question i don't know if anybody's ever
00:23:21
asked you this question but what is
00:23:22
something you've always wanted to do on
00:23:24
your bucket list
00:23:26
not jump out of a perfectly good
00:23:28
airplane next question
00:23:31
why do so many people want to do that
00:23:33
it's an active choice i don't know
00:23:36
what about you what's wrong
00:23:39
i had to i had to uh on resident evil
00:23:42
evil i had to supposedly jump out of a
00:23:44
helicopter which i didn't do the stunt
00:23:46
guy did but i i was dropped from
00:23:49
this crane
00:23:50
uh
00:23:51
with a wire strapped to my back and just
00:23:54
dropped over a parking lot and it's
00:23:56
still till today i get uh sweaty hands
00:23:58
when i think about it i i don't uh
00:24:02
yeah no so being an actor is very
00:24:05
glamorous is what you're saying all the
00:24:07
time
00:24:08
very
00:24:09
very because there's always a costume
00:24:11
guy to change your pants
00:24:16
the more you know
00:24:18
[Music]
00:24:19
the more you know i apologize to
00:24:21
resident evil costume department
00:24:25
thank you so much for your question
00:24:30
um hi over here on the right what's your
00:24:32
name and question it's not wrong
00:24:37
it's always nice to have someone to
00:24:38
change your pants
00:24:40
yes
00:24:41
my name is terry i'm from mount lake
00:24:43
terrace which is a suburb of seattle uh
00:24:46
this is for both of you uh or one of you
00:24:49
depending on how this one goes
00:24:51
what is uh your funniest memory uh
00:24:55
whether it be a practical joke something
00:24:57
went wrong
00:24:58
uh at either of yours expense if it's a
00:25:01
practical joke uh
00:25:04
what do you remember as being the
00:25:05
funniest thing that ever happened on the
00:25:07
set
00:25:10
let's think about it i just think
00:25:12
yeah no arnold arnold was very uh very
00:25:15
funny i i just just working with this
00:25:17
guy as my first job
00:25:19
and again i i grew up feeling like i'm
00:25:22
relatively good-sized uh and uh you know
00:25:26
slightly uh fit and then i stand next to
00:25:29
this guy in my high heels and dress and
00:25:32
the director goes okay so you have to
00:25:34
stop him and tell him you know live
00:25:36
today fight tomorrow right and and i'm
00:25:39
like grabbing his shoulder and i'm like
00:25:42
this is cement
00:25:44
it's like it's like
00:25:46
i try to do this i think you can even
00:25:48
see the pictures we signed you can just
00:25:49
see me behind his shoulder going
00:25:52
fight today you know live today fight
00:25:54
tomorrow you know
00:25:55
it's just this guy is so powerful and
00:25:57
the funny thing is we're taking pictures
00:25:59
and i'm he's still the same thing
00:26:01
uh but arnold vosleo
00:26:03
arnold vaslu we are in our food we're in
00:26:06
the middle of the desert
00:26:08
it's just nothingness and just the this this
00:26:12
hotel
00:26:14
uh he decides uh
00:26:16
that's it man i'm i'm done i want a
00:26:19
bonfire
00:26:20
i'm done
00:26:21
so he goes and i don't my south africa
00:26:24
south african accent is not a very good
00:26:26
good accent but he just disappears into
00:26:28
the desert
00:26:30
right
00:26:32
and we're all like this guy's insane he
00:26:34
had like three or four days off i think
00:26:35
in a row yeah yeah is he insured for the
00:26:38
kidnapping because it is insane so
00:26:40
anyway
00:26:42
it's nighttime we're all around the the
00:26:44
the outside there and he's kind of out
00:26:47
of the darkness he's coming in with one
00:26:49
log
00:26:50
he found a tree and he's like that's it
00:26:53
we do bonfire now
00:26:57
i mean if you want something done
00:26:59
right you've got to go get your own tree
00:27:02
really i heard he went and he bargained
00:27:04
with some kid for a donkey cart full of
00:27:06
like a cord of wood
00:27:08
and then escorted the kid back to the
00:27:10
fire pit that he dug put stones around
00:27:13
it
00:27:14
stacked the wood stayed overnight
00:27:17
guarding it or someone would rip it all
00:27:19
off and kill scorpions with his bare
00:27:22
hands oh yeah no he used to do yeah he
00:27:24
used to do this seriously
00:27:27
the scorpions man that was a hell of a
00:27:28
good fire wouldn't it ah it was fabulous
00:27:31
he he he was he was so funny like the
00:27:33
first time i met him i think was in in
00:27:35
marrakech in the hotel marrakech and
00:27:37
he's like nah screw that man i'm i'm
00:27:40
sleeping close to the pool man i'm not
00:27:41
i'm not up in the building no i i want
00:27:43
to be close to the ground
00:27:46
such a great character
00:27:48
i like i thought i want to stay in every
00:27:50
host offering from now on like by the
00:27:52
pool
00:27:53
always
00:27:54
remember that weird that was a weird
00:27:55
hotel wasn't it it was like this tourist
00:27:58
hotel remember they chuckle slovakia and
00:27:59
stunt guys that would stack up all the
00:28:01
furniture
00:28:02
in the in the lobby of the hotel because
00:28:04
they were bored that
00:28:07
and it's a dry nation so they pulled
00:28:09
their per diem together they bought one
00:28:10
last bottle of whiskey and like guzzled
00:28:12
it and then videotaped each other making
00:28:14
up stunts like
00:28:17
diving into this stack of like
00:28:20
coffee tables and glass and like
00:28:23
all this and they just go crash and
00:28:25
they fall down they pop up and they're
00:28:27
all bleeding and pointing and laughing
00:28:29
at each other it's the best thing in the
00:28:30
world and we're just like oh you guys
00:28:33
are sick in there yeah
00:28:36
everybody's got to have a hobby
00:28:39
that one just seems like it comes with a
00:28:40
lot of like was it just me that night oh
00:28:43
no no no no no i i i had that when i
00:28:46
stayed in uh in the desert with the
00:28:48
stunt guys i stayed with them in the
00:28:49
same hotel and we were working together
00:28:51
every day and then at night time they
00:28:53
decided they wanted to do like uh some
00:28:54
sparring and they started sparring with
00:28:57
each other and i'm like i want to spar
00:28:58
and they're like i don't know i'm like
00:29:00
no come on i'll spar and the guy just
00:29:01
stood there and i punched him and went
00:29:03
ah
00:29:04
my wrist
00:29:06
and i was done
00:29:08
it's very strange you know when you get
00:29:09
used to just swinging your arm and
00:29:11
people are falling over when they don't
00:29:13
fall over
00:29:16
it's it's it takes getting used to
00:29:19
thank you so much for your question
00:29:20
before uh
00:29:22
we end this you have to stand next to
00:29:24
each other so we can see this size
00:29:26
difference
00:29:27
[Applause]
00:29:36
hi mom that that was my bucket list
00:29:38
thank you very much thank you
00:29:41
i had to step out so i didn't bring the
00:29:42
height curve down
00:29:45
where did you go yeah what happened
00:29:46
there we stood up you just moved bye i
00:29:48
don't want to be in your pictures it's
00:29:50
all you it's all you hi over here on the
00:29:52
left what's your name and your question
00:29:54
i am cinderella i'm from germany about
00:29:56
living in america
00:29:58
and so um i'm sorry who thinks the
00:30:01
camel's been dumb
00:30:03
i volunteer for several years camels and
00:30:07
they're very smart
00:30:09
they are
00:30:10
they're
00:30:11
i must say it when you do anything wrong
00:30:14
they will never forget and
00:30:17
uh so basically i'm in a lot of
00:30:20
so hey that's okay the is really
00:30:23
good for the grass
00:30:32
i had that coming
00:30:35
my question is uh they are in germany in
00:30:37
this time 1990 your movie came out in
00:30:40
germany in german language it came out
00:30:43
in 1990 i don't know
00:30:47
i have a little language period
00:30:50
yeah it's like it's like the the song
00:30:52
knowing annoyances
00:30:54
right right
00:30:58
now
00:30:59
i saw you movies first in german
00:31:01
language this is my question have you
00:31:03
ever seen in other language
00:31:06
you mummies
00:31:10
have you
00:31:11
um i once saw the guy who dubs my voice
00:31:16
that's good in german
00:31:21
you look kind of like
00:31:23
winston churchill
00:31:26
no i'm not muslim
00:31:28
with a really
00:31:31
whole impressive outfit of the line light blinding uh you
00:31:34
you know the series i love lucy
00:31:37
yes yes and and she did one part the
00:31:41
jumbo girl i have the whole bunch outfit
00:31:43
this is not in a different collection
00:31:45
with the tutti frutti
00:31:50
thank you for your questions
00:31:56
thank you and we'll go over here on the
00:31:57
right what's your name in question uh hi
00:31:59
my name is stephanie i'm from bainbridge
00:32:01
island and um i
00:32:04
uh have a question for odette actually
00:32:07
um
00:32:08
obviously i love the mummy and stuff and
00:32:09
i save quotes from it every damn day and
00:32:12
um i however wanted to ask you about
00:32:16
destiny 2. and the absolute plot twist
00:32:19
that happens with osiris and how did you
00:32:21
feel about that
00:32:24
because that was the greatest plot twist
00:32:27
that destiny has ever seen
00:32:36
well
00:32:37
[Laughter]
00:32:39
i love
00:32:41
destiny
00:32:42
i don't actually play the game
00:32:46
so
00:32:48
okay don't any i'm an old man
00:32:51
this whole thing you want me to explain
00:32:53
your plot twist to you well
00:32:56
this is what happens right my son plays
00:32:59
video games and i try to
00:33:01
this is am i getting in trouble um my
00:33:03
son okay no i got the camel's mad at me
00:33:06
now right here right i know okay listen
00:33:10
my son plays the game i'm coming in to
00:33:13
join him and i'm going like yeah i'd
00:33:14
like to pay and he goes okay he gives me
00:33:16
the controller and i'm like
00:33:19
how do i how do what what button hold on
00:33:22
let me get my my glasses and i can't but
00:33:25
and by the time i'm even close to moving
00:33:28
he's already finished the game so it was
00:33:30
one of those
00:33:31
very complicated but i i they they spend
00:33:34
about 45 minutes every time i work
00:33:37
to explain to me what's going on and it
00:33:39
sounds
00:33:40
very exciting
00:33:43
it really does
00:33:47
man you gotta play it sometime you're a
00:33:48
great character i i love the character i
00:33:51
do i love the character but uh but yes i
00:33:54
i haven't played the game oh man well
00:33:56
you should try it sometime i i hear it's
00:33:58
absolutely fabulous but i don't play any
00:34:00
game okay the camels camels are
00:34:03
do we talk about the camels i love the
00:34:05
camels the camels and the birds i come
00:34:07
back on the camel at the end of the
00:34:08
first one so i you know i love the
00:34:10
camels that's right right
00:34:12
yes do you remember my character was
00:34:14
supposed to die
00:34:16
yeah and they wrote you back in yeah
00:34:18
when i put you when i when i say goodbye
00:34:19
to you in the tunnel and i'm like you
00:34:21
know save the girl
00:34:23
kill the creature in that order all goes
00:34:25
bang falls down yeah and everything
00:34:27
falls down yeah
00:34:29
and then steve summers when i thought i
00:34:31
thought i'm getting fired i came back to
00:34:33
the hotel after a night shoot i said to
00:34:34
my brother
00:34:36
they're they're firing me he hates me
00:34:37
every time the director does this he's
00:34:39
just thinking why did i why did i hire
00:34:41
this guy oh my god
00:34:42
but uh and then he comes back to me and
00:34:44
he goes you know what artist bae
00:34:46
everybody loves artists bay it is there
00:34:48
is a lobster yeah art of bay rural
00:34:50
that's very lucky very lucky
00:34:54
thank you for your question
00:34:57
next time we're here i'm going to ask
00:34:58
about destiny and you'd better have
00:34:59
played
00:35:01
uh yes yep yep you're honest over here
00:35:04
on the left what's your name in question
00:35:06
hi um my name is gina originally from la
00:35:09
but moved here renton washington now
00:35:14
so i wanted to say that your movies the
00:35:16
mummies um was something my family and i
00:35:19
bonded over um but so with my parents i
00:35:21
know that i'm also now mom um i'm
00:35:24
watching your movies with all the movies
00:35:26
with my son
00:35:27
so it's definitely something that saves
00:35:29
me because it's with some like a bonding
00:35:30
moment with my family sometimes we don't
00:35:32
always get along but definitely those
00:35:33
movies were something that brought our
00:35:35
family together and talked about um so i
00:35:39
just wanted to know if there were scenes
00:35:41
or anything from any of the movies that
00:35:42
you've done that were like memorable to
00:35:44
you or wanted to make sure it was like
00:35:47
memorable to your fans or those that
00:35:49
watched it
00:35:52
all of it
00:35:55
we were just glad to have a job lady
00:36:03
he's being very humble
00:36:05
he's being very humble
00:36:08
thank you
00:36:09
thank you
00:36:11
i'm gonna be selfish again because
00:36:13
microphone i'm sorry but you'll
00:36:14
appreciate it um
00:36:16
we've talked about the mummy we've
00:36:17
talked about camels and stunts and
00:36:19
fighting but romance
00:36:21
um it's such a lovely romantic movie
00:36:24
essential relationships like oh just
00:36:27
you know i was oh that's a tangent that
00:36:29
doesn't matter you're talking about the
00:36:30
relationship between me and horus yes
00:36:33
obviously it's my favorite and john
00:36:35
hannah and his camel
00:36:38
yes yes he kissed the camel didn't he
00:36:41
that's you got real close um but i want
00:36:44
to hear like how what it was like
00:36:45
working with rachel on these phones
00:36:46
that's fantastic
00:36:48
she's fantastic thank you
00:36:51
rachel was brilliant she was ready for
00:36:54
everything she played it with heart she
00:36:56
got down to the nitty-gritty of being
00:36:58
the kick-ass librarian
00:37:01
who just rules the day you know
00:37:04
she wasn't scared of a ladder
00:37:09
rachel was is she's wonderful she's just
00:37:12
wonderful
00:37:13
and
00:37:16
she she was missed on the third one
00:37:19
and
00:37:20
and and no hang on
00:37:26
[Applause]
00:37:28
there's an elephant in the room
00:37:32
maria's great too
00:37:35
but she wasn't rachel and i think i'm
00:37:37
not you know what i mean
00:37:39
yes yes
00:37:41
so anyway anyway camels camels
00:37:45
who saw the fourth one
00:37:50
too soon
00:37:53
too soon too soon too soon uh let's go
00:37:56
here on the right please tell us your
00:37:57
name and your question
00:37:59
hi my name is lauren and i was born and
00:38:01
raised in anchorage alaska
00:38:03
um my question is could you uh go a
00:38:06
little bit more in depth about what
00:38:08
filming in the moroccan desert was like
00:38:11
and any particular challenges that you
00:38:13
remember the more hilarious the better
00:38:16
oh be funny like right now like like now
00:38:19
now
00:38:20
okay uh
00:38:24
we got wiped out by a sandstorm that was
00:38:27
exciting in real world remember that
00:38:30
that would happen i i yeah absolutely
00:38:34
the scorpions you can show up on set and
00:38:36
there's a whole bunch of scorpion right
00:38:37
oh yeah these will kill you but don't
00:38:39
worry we have the wranglers that that
00:38:42
will catch the scorpions and it's just a
00:38:44
bunch of guys walking with a stick yeah
00:38:45
they had like a piece of rebar up in the
00:38:47
rocks and on the call sheet they gave
00:38:49
that there was the snake guide yes
00:38:52
there's like this one snake that a
00:38:53
little doodad yellow thing on his head
00:38:55
and they're like if you see this at best
00:38:58
we don't have to amputate your leg
00:38:59
before we fly you out of here
00:39:01
just just run away from it if you can of
00:39:03
course i had to go shake a leg when the
00:39:06
airplane scene was going down and the
00:39:08
road was really bad and the honey wagon
00:39:11
the toilet wagon got a broken axle so
00:39:13
there anyway we're all sneaking off to
00:39:15
go talk to a rock and so
00:39:18
i'm out there doing my business and i
00:39:19
looked down what is is that snake
00:39:21
it's that snake right there what do you
00:39:24
think i'm holding well there's a snake
00:39:25
right there
00:39:29
i ran
00:39:33
yeah good times
00:39:36
that was hilarious i think it fulfilled
00:39:38
your request though perfectly
00:39:40
thank you so much thank you i love that
00:39:42
there was a scorpion wrangler when you
00:39:43
said that first i'm like did i hear that
00:39:45
correctly and i did what a fun job title
00:39:47
to have
00:39:49
i don't know it's just guys stabbing
00:39:51
rocks all day long
00:39:53
yeah and then they catch stuff and they
00:39:55
come over and they go like oh look at
00:39:56
this look at this this is great look at
00:39:58
this they put it in the water from the
00:40:00
place
00:40:01
no but like you keep that i'm good i'm
00:40:03
good over here on the left what's your
00:40:05
name in question please hello i'm nathan
00:40:07
from idaho falls and i gotta say the
00:40:09
first couple times i saw the mummy it
00:40:11
scared the hell out of me but it became
00:40:13
one of my all-time favorite movies and
00:40:14
like i first saw it when i was five
00:40:16
years old and
00:40:17
anyways this question's for both of you
00:40:19
so
00:40:20
you know you had to juggle a lot of
00:40:22
comedic timing and you know just action
00:40:24
work and dramatic chops and everything
00:40:27
and some romantic chemistry so how were
00:40:29
you able to bring all those together for
00:40:31
your performances
00:40:33
the power of dumb
00:40:35
luck
00:40:39
never underestimate it
00:40:42
oh dead
00:40:45
i i 100 agree i uh uh if
00:40:50
one of the scenes uh of when we were on
00:40:52
the bus you remember when we were on the
00:40:53
bus on the second one and we were
00:40:55
fighting the mummies on the bus
00:40:57
and uh they were like okay so brandon
00:41:00
has a stun guy that he's working with
00:41:02
and um
00:41:04
we can't really fit the stunt guy in
00:41:06
here so you
00:41:07
just throw yourself around
00:41:09
and i swear to god there was nobody
00:41:12
there and i was just like an idiot just
00:41:15
throwing myself against the walls
00:41:19
and it worked and i didn't have uh
00:41:20
anybody complain about my uh and i i
00:41:23
would i was fighting an imaginary half
00:41:26
mummy
00:41:27
because cg put it in later and i i had a
00:41:31
brilliant idea on the day we're doing
00:41:32
like we're fighting and he's there what
00:41:34
if i poke him in the eyes like the three
00:41:36
stooges
00:41:38
they're like try yeah so again
00:41:41
like that
00:41:43
it was like revolutionary oh my god
00:41:46
we'll just put the goo in later it'll be
00:41:48
great
00:41:50
so there's me
00:41:51
fighting the half stooge
00:41:53
eyeless mummy and he's bouncing around
00:41:56
like a sock monkey behind me
00:41:58
it's a leap of faith when you make
00:41:59
movies like this you got to believe what
00:42:00
you're doing or nobody else will it's
00:42:02
it's it's it's it's running around in
00:42:05
the on the set in in in london in the
00:42:08
tunnels and i i'm i'm i think i had a
00:42:10
cold or whatever and i'm
00:42:13
get away and all the rest and then cut
00:42:18
oh my god my throat is killing me
00:42:20
so it's
00:42:22
yeah he is really cool in real life me i
00:42:26
you know
00:42:27
no no you're cool
00:42:29
i think you're both cool you're both
00:42:31
really both cool
00:42:34
thank you so much for your question
00:42:35
thank you so much for answering it it
00:42:37
was an honor to meet you i'm glad to
00:42:39
join you in seattle thank you thank
00:42:42
you appreciate it come on go over here
00:42:45
hello what's your name in your question
00:42:47
hi i'm aiden i'm from edmonton so a
00:42:49
fellow canadian satellite
00:42:52
uh this is a bit of an odd question but
00:42:55
yours is my favorite snl monologue of
00:42:58
all time do you have any stories about
00:43:00
your time on snl
00:43:02
well before that monologue that i don't
00:43:03
remember at all giving that you're
00:43:05
talking about
00:43:06
it's live tv and it's snl and you know
00:43:11
do it right
00:43:13
and just before everything before you
00:43:15
know it's very exciting the week leading
00:43:16
up to it and then it's saturday night
00:43:18
and they go live and just before all
00:43:20
this happened lauren michael just walks
00:43:22
up to you he just kind of goes well you
00:43:24
know it's just
00:43:26
it's all about confidence
00:43:29
and that's what you get before you
00:43:31
present yourself to the world after that
00:43:33
you don't remember
00:43:35
much of anything it's about it's about
00:43:37
honestly changing wardrobe really
00:43:40
quickly underneath the bleachers in the
00:43:42
dark
00:43:43
chasing people around you pulling your
00:43:45
clothes off putting clothes on putting
00:43:46
hair and all that stuff
00:43:48
um it's a show about undressing
00:43:52
thank you so much thank you
00:43:54
again the glamorous life of an actor i
00:43:57
also feel like uh just be confident is a
00:44:00
different version of don't suck
00:44:01
[Laughter]
00:44:04
just a nicer way to say it over here on
00:44:06
the left what's your name in question
00:44:08
hi my name is cj i live in seattle and
00:44:12
this question is for odette
00:44:14
i love you as artist bae but i'm also
00:44:16
used to hearing your voice specifically
00:44:18
as dr fate and justice league unlimited
00:44:20
and as reish al ghul
00:44:22
and young justice and my question was
00:44:25
how does voice acting for you compared
00:44:27
to like real that comes from
00:44:30
we were just talking about that funny
00:44:31
you should ask yeah we just talked about
00:44:34
it in the car on the way here there's
00:44:36
something
00:44:38
there's something wonderful about not
00:44:40
having to learn your lines
00:44:42
and not having to put a costume and
00:44:44
makeup on there's something really
00:44:46
fabulous about that so let's just start
00:44:48
right there
00:44:50
you don't even have to wear pants
00:44:56
during covid i was in my closet
00:44:59
in my pajamas
00:45:01
recording it was wonderful there's
00:45:03
something really there's something
00:45:05
really wonderful about doing voiceovers
00:45:06
uh because you know your voice is such a
00:45:09
big part of of acting of delivering
00:45:12
drama
00:45:13
and uh it's it's
00:45:15
it's a lot of fun being able to do that
00:45:16
without any pressure of kind of knowing
00:45:19
your lines or
00:45:20
everything else around it
00:45:22
so thank you sir thank you
00:45:24
thank you
00:45:28
any job you can do in your pajamas is
00:45:30
automatically my favorite job
00:45:32
uh over here on the right what's your
00:45:34
name and your question hello
00:45:36
i am tyler jacobs i am live in tacoma
00:45:39
washington and
00:45:42
uh i think you are both such great
00:45:44
actors and you're both so funny um i
00:45:46
love encino man and blast from the past
00:45:48
and
00:45:50
yeah
00:45:51
and and discovery is great and you're
00:45:53
great induced bigelow also um
00:45:56
but thank you i i wanted to know
00:45:59
what animal you would think you would be
00:46:01
if you were an animal and in 1999 would
00:46:05
you have had the same answer
00:46:07
a labrador running around the beach
00:46:09
collecting sticks
00:46:12
do what you want it yes can i have it
00:46:15
i'm gonna bury it will you throw it
00:46:18
okay [Laughter]
00:46:20
i mean who does that remind you of
00:46:23
this guy
00:46:26
no it's not a gorilla or a monkey there
00:46:29
i said it
00:46:31
yeah no we have uh we have a little dog
00:46:34
named bailey and he's he's a tiny little
00:46:36
thing and he's very scared of absolutely
00:46:38
everything and me i feel like him many
00:46:41
times i'm just like ah it is very scary
00:46:44
out there isn't it
00:46:46
and they want you to act and be brave
00:46:49
i can do this you can do it bailey you
00:46:52
got this you got this little oh dead
00:46:57
[Applause]
00:46:58
thank you thank you very much um this is
00:47:00
when i feel like it is my duty to point
00:47:02
out there is a very sweet dog in the
00:47:03
front row that is distracting yes
00:47:05
multiple times you're very cute
00:47:08
my favorite picture we took we took a
00:47:09
picture with the dog
00:47:11
yeah can i get a picture later too
00:47:14
well we'll do it after okay okay thank
00:47:16
you uh anyway panel right um dogs in the
00:47:19
front row were very dangerous for me
00:47:21
um hi over here what's your name and
00:47:23
your question oh hey my name is roman
00:47:25
and i'm from
00:47:27
sorry i'm probably the oldest person
00:47:28
asking questions today
00:47:31
uh
00:47:33
seeing you both on on the stage it's not
00:47:35
like just like the mommy reunion right
00:47:37
so it's like mommy and the resident evil
00:47:41
and in cart and uh resident evil uh
00:47:45
sorry i
00:47:47
i need to learn more that you like your
00:47:48
filmography on i will search on imdb
00:47:51
sure go with the question yes question
00:47:54
okay
00:47:55
so do you have any role that uh gonna
00:47:58
change you as a person like something
00:48:00
that like you lived like like you feel
00:48:02
then you become a different person like
00:48:04
better worse i don't know
00:48:05
and it's question for both of you so do
00:48:08
you have these kind of roles
00:48:10
rock paper scissors
00:48:12
do you want no you go ahead you go ahead
00:48:13
um
00:48:14
all of them you learn something from
00:48:17
each part i think i mean
00:48:19
it's just acting all right it's it's
00:48:21
make believe we all kind of know that
00:48:23
but it's sort of a contest who can make
00:48:25
believe in a way that everybody else
00:48:27
believes to make believe
00:48:30
um
00:48:31
each part's going to change you a little
00:48:32
bit you take something from it a place
00:48:34
you win i mean we're all here because we
00:48:36
saw this movie that we ran around the
00:48:37
desert making 20 below whatever years
00:48:39
ago
00:48:41
and it really it changed the trajectory of
00:48:43
our lives and
00:48:47
i think i think you should get something
00:48:49
from all of them you know at least i do
00:48:52
i really want to
00:48:53
thank you
00:48:55
thank you i love you guys thank you
00:48:58
thank you um real quick i'm curious who
00:49:00
here has been on uh the mummy theme park
00:49:01
ride at universal parks
00:49:04
do you have you have either of you been
00:49:05
on the ride
00:49:06
yes
00:49:07
yes yes yes it's right i really enjoy it
00:49:10
i can write it one one time what's that
00:49:12
i can write it one time
00:49:14
because it it's very intense it it's
00:49:16
it's it's incredibly intense and like
00:49:18
running in the tunnels you know when it
00:49:20
turns around and then it backs up and
00:49:22
then it flies off you hear me go aha oh
00:49:25
that's my
00:49:26
no i'm just i'm just joking it's been
00:49:29
it's being repaired right now it's going
00:49:31
to come back up they had to put new tech
00:49:33
in it i'm told yeah it's reopening soon
00:49:35
check from the third movie apparently
00:49:39
what what third movie there's no third
00:49:42
movie
00:49:44
over here hi what's your name in
00:49:45
question
00:49:46
test
00:49:47
test
00:49:48
help hi bran hello oded i'm max from
00:49:52
seattle born raised i have a comment for
00:49:55
one of you and a question for both of
00:49:57
you friend i was sorry to hear about the
00:49:59
batgirl film
00:50:02
yeah we all are yeah yeah
00:50:04
and now the question it's uh pretty
00:50:07
obvious by now the 2017 mommy film was
00:50:10
but lightly less
00:50:12
like a fail a more failure
00:50:17
as
00:50:19
as well as its attempt to jumpstart a
00:50:22
shared monster uni universe for
00:50:25
universal my question is if the mummy
00:50:28
1999 film followed a similar strategy
00:50:31
and was the first of like a shared
00:50:33
universe do you think it would have had
00:50:35
the dark universe with a bear chance of
00:50:37
succeeding
00:50:39
listen dude
00:50:42
we know how hard the mummy is to make
00:50:45
i tried to do it three times
00:50:49
that was its own picture
00:50:52
this it's kind of not my department yeah
00:50:56
yeah there's so many so many things that
00:50:58
go into
00:51:00
making a film
00:51:02
you have no idea we had no idea when we
00:51:04
shot the first mommy that it's going to
00:51:06
be what it ended up being we we had no
00:51:08
idea and and he's not kidding i mean
00:51:10
rachel was absolutely incredible but i
00:51:12
heard rachel going
00:51:14
this is the end of my career you know
00:51:17
it's like she she gave it all she was
00:51:19
incredible and wonderful but we nobody
00:51:21
had any idea and i was just happy to be
00:51:23
there you know like for me it was my
00:51:24
first job i was like oh my god but
00:51:27
nobody knew what it would be like
00:51:30
thank you thank you also for star trek
00:51:32
discovery and doom patrol and thank you
00:51:35
for your time thank you
00:51:37
thank you for the question
00:51:39
hi over here what's your name and your
00:51:40
question hi my name is oh my god i'm so
00:51:43
loud
00:51:44
hi my name is kim i'm from olympia
00:51:46
um
00:51:48
my kind of statement question is
00:51:50
are you guys terrified of bugs because
00:51:52
because the mummy i am forever terrified
00:51:55
of bugs
00:51:58
i'm okay
00:52:02
i'm i'm fine i'm fine sorry just you
00:52:04
that was scarred uh yeah i'll tell you
00:52:06
one one terrifying story uh my wife and
00:52:09
i were in hawaii in one of those uh very
00:52:11
um
00:52:12
kind of natural surroundings uh whatever
00:52:15
and then it was evening time and we were
00:52:17
just attacked by these huge huge flying
00:52:20
cockroaches huge humongous
00:52:22
and uh
00:52:24
some of them accidentally died uh
00:52:27
anyway we made our way back to our uh
00:52:30
sanctuary to our rooms and for safety
00:52:33
rooms i'm saying because separate rooms
00:52:34
my wife and i would you know uh
00:52:38
no i'm kidding but uh
00:52:40
the the scary thing was we woke up the
00:52:42
next day and
00:52:44
they were all gone like the dead ones
00:52:46
gone not not nothing left of them
00:52:48
meaning pretty crawlers just came in at
00:52:51
night and just
00:52:53
yeah
00:52:54
circle of life circle just think about
00:52:56
that and enjoy it
00:52:59
i think that probably helped your bug
00:53:01
phobia so it was a good story yeah i
00:53:03
think i'm further traumatized by you
00:53:04
guys thanks
00:53:07
thank you so much
00:53:09
hi over here what's your name and what's
00:53:11
your question please hi my name is elia
00:53:13
and i just want to say that my friend
00:53:15
over there provided the scarf for the
00:53:16
pupper in the photo this morning so that
00:53:18
was awesome to be a part of
00:53:20
because it's amazing um while i was
00:53:21
going to ask you about blast from the
00:53:23
past because i adore that movie
00:53:26
[Applause]
00:53:28
it was amazing um i'm going to stick
00:53:30
with the theme of the day as a large
00:53:32
animal equine massage therapist i'm
00:53:34
going to ask both of you horse related
00:53:36
question brandon what was your favorite
00:53:38
experience of working with horses on set
00:53:39
on movies and why was it freckles and
00:53:42
um
00:53:44
oh dad did you keep up with your
00:53:45
horsemanship
00:53:48
i'll go first um you mean my horse was
00:53:50
you said freckles or speckles um
00:53:54
his name was pekkas oh pekkas but it
00:53:56
translates yes
00:54:00
which translates to spots or freckles um
00:54:02
and i was learned in latin culture when
00:54:05
you name animals you don't call them
00:54:07
fred
00:54:08
you know you call them you know cosmo or
00:54:11
you know you give them a name and so or
00:54:13
you name them what they are like
00:54:16
tan spots something like that so he you
00:54:18
know my horse my horse was amazing i
00:54:20
took him home i fedexed him back just to
00:54:23
i did
00:54:24
to uh where i live in new york i gave
00:54:27
him to my oldest son who is on the
00:54:30
spectrum
00:54:31
and whether he was a big strong horse
00:54:33
and whether or not griffin wanted to
00:54:35
ride him on any particular day didn't
00:54:37
matter because if you get a
00:54:39
bucket and a brush give it to
00:54:41
a kid who's happy to do this all
00:54:44
afternoon it works for both of them
00:54:46
you know so and he needed a job
00:54:50
[Applause]
00:54:52
the horse that is
00:54:57
thank you
00:54:58
thank you so much thank you we're
00:54:59
running low on time so i want to get
00:55:01
through as many questions as we can um
00:55:03
so over here on the left your name and
00:55:05
question please
00:55:07
um you mind if i take my mask off go
00:55:09
right in okay thank you oh my name is
00:55:12
colton
00:55:18
you got this you got this you got this
00:55:21
oh you're spiderman you got it you know
00:55:23
how much courage it takes to stand on a
00:55:25
microphone in a room full of strangers
00:55:27
it's you right now little man you got
00:55:30
this [Music]
00:55:32
listen to that
00:55:34
you can do it
00:55:38
i i'm from um
00:55:41
i'm from bremerton pretty much
00:55:43
and
00:55:44
um i was wondering uh in the second
00:55:47
movie with the bugs and the scorpions
00:55:49
and stuff where she fell in were there
00:55:52
any real bugs in those
00:55:58
because if there was i'm terrified
00:56:03
that's a very reasonable reaction
00:56:06
it was cgi you were cool it's funny
00:56:08
because if she fell in there i'd be like
00:56:11
no
00:56:13
like help her
00:56:15
let there be like a secret hatch under
00:56:17
there or something like you know
00:56:19
yeah
00:56:20
no real bugs thank you so much no real
00:56:22
bugs you're a good no real bug
00:56:25
thank you
00:56:27
over here on the right what's your name
00:56:28
in question please hello uh my name is
00:56:30
corey i'm from uh beimer giant
00:56:32
washington and my question is for you uh
00:56:34
brendan now i do know that last year you
00:56:37
acted in a film called uh no sudden move
00:56:40
which was definitely not like uh utter
00:56:42
rules that you play in the past
00:56:44
so my question is did you feel like you
00:56:46
had to change any part of your acting
00:56:48
style in order to immerse yourself into
00:56:50
the character that you played i find
00:56:52
it's easiest if you follow the script
00:56:56
listen to the director
00:56:59
it really helps to wear cool clothes too
00:57:03
and show up to work on time
00:57:06
all good tips thank you so much
00:57:08
thank you then we can do two more
00:57:10
questions so we'll go over here please
00:57:12
tell us your name and question
00:57:14
this is good um oh hello um my name is
00:57:17
shannon i'm from the seattle area and i
00:57:20
also went to cornish
00:57:22
um
00:57:23
yeah
00:57:24
i actually studied with kerry skalsky
00:57:26
and i think that y'all studied together
00:57:29
as well he liked to talk about it a lot
00:57:31
so
00:57:32
he was very happy um my question is do
00:57:36
you have any favorite cornish memories
00:57:39
or for both of you just college memories
00:57:42
in general
00:57:43
just i'm from seattle by the way it's good to
00:57:45
be back
00:57:47
so we're all on the same page
00:57:50
i went to corners college graduated 1990
00:57:52
when we were up on the hill
00:57:56
it was a singular defining experience in
00:57:58
my life i met so many
00:58:01
like-minded individuals who support the
00:58:03
arts and who thrive together and that's
00:58:05
what this town is really about so i'm so
00:58:08
happy to be back
00:58:10
it really set me up to to feel like
00:58:13
when you're acting it's not just about
00:58:15
two people bitching at each other you
00:58:17
know it's about something more than that
00:58:19
really it's about being invested in the
00:58:21
work that you do and i got that work
00:58:22
ethic while i was there
00:58:26
i i i didn't i didn't go to college in
00:58:29
the states i went to a very classical
00:58:30
drama school in england so my son is now
00:58:34
going to college and my daughter and so
00:58:36
on we're always talking about college
00:58:38
and i have the best excuse i i didn't go
00:58:40
to college here i don't know anything i
00:58:42
don't know how to
00:58:43
i don't know
00:58:46
thank you for your question thank you
00:58:47
thank you
00:58:49
all right over here on the right and
00:58:50
this will be our last question oh uh
00:58:52
hello my name is george sorry i'm uh
00:58:55
here from seattle uh ironically i was
00:58:57
the last one to get an autograph from
00:58:59
you today brendan so that was an awesome
00:59:01
experience i won everyone
00:59:04
i want everyone in the room to know that
00:59:05
um he took time out of his personal
00:59:07
schedule to sign an autograph for a
00:59:10
service member of the military that was
00:59:12
in tears over not being able to get a
00:59:13
ticket and i really appreciate you doing
00:59:15
that very humbling
00:59:17
awesome to see you do that
00:59:22
um
00:59:24
my question is i'm a firm believer that
00:59:26
cinematic gold stems from moments of
00:59:29
improvisation and i would like to ask
00:59:31
both of you
00:59:32
if you had any moments on either one of
00:59:34
the films uh that were improv that stuck
00:59:36
with you or you thought was cinematic
00:59:38
gold
00:59:40
i i i i
00:59:42
won brennan i i already said the stooges
00:59:45
thing so this one's all you
00:59:48
the the
00:59:50
the on the scene in the bus at the end of
00:59:52
the fight uh steve summers the director
00:59:55
goes okay so uh let's end with a funny
00:59:58
line
01:00:03
it's my first bus ride
01:00:05
good thank you
01:00:09
all right
01:00:11
i'm not a very good improv guy i'm not
01:00:13
i'm not a very good improv yes no i'm
01:00:15
not not a very good improv guy you guys
01:00:18
are absolutely awesome thank you so much
01:00:19
for being here thank you
01:00:20
well thank you all for your thoughtful
01:00:23
questions thank you for coming thank you
01:00:25
both for joining us appreciate it please
01:00:27
give these two a huge round of applause
01:00:29
for the mummy and all they do thank you
