Троллейбусный маршрут №14 был торжественно открыт 25 декабря 1994 года как подарок горожанам от мерии Екатеринбурга. За эти 27 лет в городе появился новый микрорайон "Солнечный",который,видимо,власти хотели связать с центром города последствием продления маршрута №14.Однако дороги ведущие в район "Солнечный" пока непригодны для строительства троллейбусной линии.В район ходят только маршрутки и автобусы,которые не так придирчивы к дорожному покрытию.
