00:00:00
hi everybody and welcome to traveling
00:00:02
with Russell and welcome to a new video
00:00:04
and welcome to Moscow now I'm going to
00:00:07
do a bit of a walk around today of a
00:00:09
supermarket here in Moscow it's called
00:00:11
Globus it's actually more like a
00:00:13
hypermarket now on the back of a few
00:00:16
recent videos I've done at different
00:00:17
supermarkets around Moscow I thought it
00:00:19
would be kind of appropriate to come
00:00:20
here to Globus just to give you an idea
00:00:22
of the difference between maybe a kind
00:00:24
of discount supermarket and something a
00:00:26
little bit more middle of the road uh
00:00:28
it's not sort of high-end or premium so
00:00:31
let's go check it out shall we
00:00:33
so before we head on inside I thought
00:00:35
I'd give you a bit of an idea of where
00:00:36
we are here so this is actually on the
00:00:38
upper level of the shopping center it's
00:00:40
built over three levels essentially from
00:00:43
where you come in to where you do
00:00:44
shopping and then upstairs where the
00:00:46
food courts are but it's actually a
00:00:48
larger shopping center than anything in
00:00:51
all of Australia which is a bit hard to
00:00:53
kind of understand I'm down here by
00:00:54
register 57 so they've got the
00:00:57
self-checkouts just there as well
00:00:59
and as we swing around you'll see I mean
00:01:01
not every register is open but pretty
00:01:04
much every second one is and it goes all
00:01:07
the way down to the end there there's
00:01:08
the actual main shopping center right
00:01:10
here and the main middle atrium
00:01:13
this is called salara Shopping Center
00:01:15
it's in the southwest of Moscow this is
00:01:17
actually my own sort of main shopping
00:01:19
center that I'd come to visit but
00:01:21
I thought I'd come here and just sort of
00:01:24
point it out we'll go have a look at a
00:01:25
couple of prices here and there in the
00:01:26
shop as well now it is currently 7 P.M
00:01:29
on Sunday night
00:01:32
so I didn't come you know lunch time on
00:01:35
a Monday when you know it always looks
00:01:37
quiet in the shops there is a lot of
00:01:40
people around uh firstly shopping in the
00:01:42
supermarket but in the shopping center
00:01:44
generally
00:01:45
so we'll head on in and let's see what
00:01:47
we can find
00:01:48
so like in a recent video I did at DA
00:01:51
they actually have a trolley system here
00:01:52
as well where you put the 10 rubles in
00:01:54
there's actually a lot of trolleys
00:01:56
there's quite a lot out at the moment
00:01:57
too and then the most popular way to do
00:02:00
shopping at the supermarket in Moscow is
00:02:02
these kind of hand cuts here a little
00:02:05
hand trucks and look how many there are
00:02:07
there is hundreds of them and this guy
00:02:10
here runs around kind of collecting them
00:02:12
from all the and into the registers and
00:02:14
fills them back up again but there's a
00:02:17
lot of them
00:02:18
so I really wanted this video to kind of
00:02:20
give you a good idea of how busy it is
00:02:22
on a Sunday evening now very typically
00:02:25
Saturdays and Sundays are the main
00:02:26
shopping days for most people in Moscow
00:02:28
they're non-working days essentially
00:02:30
it's the weekend
00:02:31
there's some ready to eat meals here
00:02:33
these are mostly all the salads
00:02:36
so you can get sort of prepared salads
00:02:38
take them home eat them right on the
00:02:39
kitchen table
00:02:40
but I hope we kind of get an idea of how
00:02:42
busy it is on a Sunday
00:02:45
7 P.M now this shopping center is open
00:02:47
every day from 10 a.m to 10 P.M
00:02:51
so
00:02:52
this is actually kind of reasonably
00:02:53
early
00:02:55
have a look at this little display right
00:02:56
in the entrance here with the fireplace
00:02:58
and we've got the wine here I love how
00:03:01
they do these kind of little displays
00:03:02
where they kind of give you all the
00:03:03
suggestions of you know what you should
00:03:06
do even got the kind of the Teacups are
00:03:08
right up there as well and the spoons to
00:03:10
go with the coffee
00:03:12
now there is quite a lot of new
00:03:13
subscribers to the channel who came over
00:03:15
from Appalachian Homestead by Petra I
00:03:18
think I'm getting this right I kind of
00:03:21
was in a bit of shock this morning when
00:03:22
I woke up and saw all the new
00:03:23
subscribers and comments I'm gonna get
00:03:26
around to answer a lot of them but uh
00:03:28
just so we can just compare the price of
00:03:31
bananas these are always front and
00:03:33
center in most supermarkets in Moscow
00:03:35
so these are by the kilo okay so just
00:03:38
keep that in mind so for a lot of people
00:03:39
in America they go by pounds it's around
00:03:42
about I think it's about two pounds to a
00:03:43
kilo but 62 rubles for bananas
00:03:47
and then we've also got
00:03:49
kiwi fruit
00:03:50
kiwi fruit here as well 64 rubles for a
00:03:54
kilo
00:03:56
and right at the entrance here they also
00:03:57
have all of the ready meals as well here
00:04:00
so these are all of the kind of
00:04:01
pre-cooked meals there's some fish and
00:04:04
salmon there some pastas lasagna and the
00:04:08
lady basically weighs them out for you
00:04:11
and then there's more on this side over
00:04:13
here
00:04:14
there's some cloth right there look at
00:04:16
the ploff oh very nice
00:04:19
and there's all kind of these are all
00:04:20
basically just you heat them up and eat
00:04:22
them as they are
00:04:23
and then this gentleman here will weigh
00:04:24
out what you want he's doing some
00:04:26
potatoes for somebody
00:04:28
so fruit and vegetables are always front
00:04:30
and center pretty much in any
00:04:31
Supermarket anywhere in the world I
00:04:33
don't think there's
00:04:34
anywhere you'll ever go where it's not
00:04:36
right at the front so one difference
00:04:37
here when you actually buy your fruit
00:04:39
and vegetables you actually weigh your
00:04:41
own on the scales let's hopefully these
00:04:44
ladies will do this and show us so
00:04:45
you've kind of put on what you've chosen
00:04:47
right there and there's a lady there she
00:04:49
puts the bag on
00:04:51
and even if you just want one you just
00:04:53
put the orange press the button it
00:04:55
weighs it out and you get a sticker and
00:04:57
off you go
00:04:59
now this Supermarket isn't necessarily
00:05:01
the cheapest one in Moscow it's got a
00:05:03
huge selection it's got a lot of choices
00:05:06
it's not going to be kind of like the
00:05:08
bargain supermarkets where they're
00:05:10
really kind of you know much lower
00:05:12
prices but the assortment is what I
00:05:14
really want to show you here just by
00:05:16
doing a little bit of a walk around
00:05:18
see the guy right there with the power
00:05:20
jack bringing uh new potatoes
00:05:23
uh you can see how many choice of
00:05:26
potatoes there are right here
00:05:28
so there is a couple of different types
00:05:30
of potatoes here there's the unwashed
00:05:32
ones which is what we really want to
00:05:33
look at these are 19 rubles a kilo now
00:05:37
they're not awfully big they're kind of
00:05:39
medium size but they kind of do the
00:05:41
trick and then over here is the unwashed
00:05:44
carrots you can see they look like they
00:05:46
literally just come from the field
00:05:48
these ones are 14 rubles a kilo now just
00:05:52
coming around the other side I wanted to
00:05:53
get the price of the onions here these
00:05:55
are the kind of I guess unwashed onions
00:05:57
if you'd like to call them that these
00:06:00
are 17.79 rubles per kilo
00:06:04
so yeah these are all the unwashed sort
00:06:06
of section but it's a little bit of a
00:06:08
fight to get into everything at the
00:06:09
moment there's uh I'm trying to be
00:06:11
polite to everybody filming but
00:06:13
there's a lot of people kind of doing
00:06:15
all their Sunday shopping here
00:06:18
there's some peppers right here
00:06:21
and then there's also some pre-packaged
00:06:22
vegetables as well here so you've got
00:06:24
mushrooms
00:06:26
99 rubles for a kilo
00:06:30
and then cucumbers or cukes I like to
00:06:33
call them here a lot there's a 69 rubles
00:06:36
a kilo
00:06:38
so as you can see no matter what fruit
00:06:40
or vegetable you want
00:06:42
it's definitely more than available in
00:06:44
here and you can see that they're
00:06:46
filling up the sections as quick as they
00:06:48
kind of sell out here
00:06:50
there's more of those kiwi fruits
00:06:52
there's Persimmons over here
00:06:55
there's one lady getting some plums off
00:06:57
in the distance
00:06:59
and then again everybody does their own
00:07:01
weighing of their fruits and vegetables
00:07:02
here which is kind of something you
00:07:04
don't see in the world most of the time
00:07:05
it's done by somebody else at the
00:07:07
counter when you pay but press the
00:07:09
button
00:07:10
get the sticker and you've paid for it
00:07:12
well once you get to the register you
00:07:14
pay for it of course but
00:07:15
here's the classic
00:07:17
I guess Granny Smith apples
00:07:20
89 rubles for a kilo
00:07:23
I don't really like these green ones
00:07:24
they're always a little bit sort of sour
00:07:26
you know my wife loves them I don't like
00:07:27
them that much
00:07:29
and then over here is the first part of
00:07:31
the deli now the Delicatessen in this
00:07:33
store is massive here this is just
00:07:35
sausages right here and you can see the
00:07:38
ladies getting these sausage links and
00:07:40
again you can do everything by weight so
00:07:42
everything is processed and produced in
00:07:44
the store so they've actually got the
00:07:46
Machinery all in the back here where
00:07:48
they do everything in-house they've got
00:07:50
all the freezers and fridges right
00:07:52
behind the counters
00:07:54
this is actually the meat section here
00:07:55
but it's not very big
00:07:58
typically a lot of people go to butchers
00:08:00
where they live or closer to where they
00:08:02
live than coming here of course there's
00:08:04
a bit of a line here for the meat
00:08:05
tonight but
00:08:06
I know for us we don't tend to buy meat
00:08:09
here that's why you don't see a very big
00:08:11
amount of it in this Supermarket
00:08:12
considering how huge this place is
00:08:14
because a lot of people will buy their
00:08:16
meats from butchers
00:08:18
and if we don't have any parents
00:08:20
watching the video which I'm sure we do
00:08:22
you know with kids
00:08:24
you can bring them to the aquarium here
00:08:25
in Globus
00:08:27
and check out all the fish
00:08:30
there's one doing a little bit of
00:08:31
backstroke over here but it's quite a
00:08:33
lot in this left-hand tank
00:08:35
and then these are all by 100 gram
00:08:37
weights so
00:08:39
if we have a look I don't know all the
00:08:40
varieties of fish but I won't put the
00:08:43
price up for these but if you look 38
00:08:45
rubles for 100 grams so
00:08:48
53 rubles 149 I guess depending on the
00:08:52
different variety
00:08:53
uh and then
00:08:55
over here then there's all of the still
00:08:58
fresh fish fresh salmon
00:09:00
there's a whole row of it over here it
00:09:03
kind of just keeps on going
00:09:05
all the way down
00:09:07
now I don't think we're in Russia if we
00:09:09
don't have caviar in the shopping center
00:09:10
or in the supermarket so there's a whole
00:09:13
lot of different choices of this too it
00:09:16
varies considerably in price the
00:09:18
smallest ones over here
00:09:19
500 rubles
00:09:22
and these are all canned ones and sort
00:09:24
of pre-packaged ones and then over here
00:09:27
I'm going to show you the kind of the
00:09:30
top dog in the fridge right here fifteen
00:09:32
thousand five ninety nine here for this
00:09:35
one this is also you'll see these are in
00:09:37
the anti-theft cases obviously they do
00:09:39
that anywhere in the world
00:09:41
so yeah there's a lot of different types
00:09:43
again it's not hugely popular in
00:09:46
supermarkets caviar a lot of people will
00:09:48
get this at a Fresh Food Market in
00:09:51
Moscow where they live or even where I
00:09:53
live I can go and get caviar from a
00:09:57
fresh fish market versus coming here be
00:10:00
a little bit cheaper too than these
00:10:02
prices
00:10:03
see all the sliced Salmons here
00:10:06
and Salmon's usually popular my wife
00:10:09
likes to have this on for breakfast on
00:10:10
toast or on bread with a bit of cream
00:10:12
cheese
00:10:14
now I have pointed this out in maybe one
00:10:16
other video on the channel as well
00:10:19
about the frozen fish so they've
00:10:21
actually got Frozen
00:10:23
uh fish of different sizes and types and
00:10:26
Brands here and then basically you
00:10:28
actually take it out of the freezer
00:10:31
yourself put it into a bag
00:10:33
and then you've actually got the
00:10:34
weighing scales where you'd weigh it out
00:10:37
right onto the
00:10:39
scales off in the distance there you'll
00:10:41
just see there's one right here there's
00:10:43
a lady getting some shrimps right there
00:10:46
and then she'd weigh them and get a
00:10:48
sticker for the price
00:10:49
now predictably there's not too many
00:10:52
people in these couple of aisles here
00:10:53
this is the health food Isles and
00:10:55
somebody did mention this in a comment
00:10:57
about health food items in the
00:11:01
supermarkets in Russia is there a health
00:11:03
food section and there is it's not very
00:11:06
very
00:11:07
uh popular I guess it's not very busy
00:11:10
but definitely there is health food
00:11:14
items in Russia and supermarkets look
00:11:17
there's not even a person in here
00:11:19
now through the middle of the
00:11:20
supermarket here they've got all the
00:11:22
different promotions and specials and
00:11:24
whatever's the kind of weekly special
00:11:26
here is the Heinz Ketchup or tomato
00:11:30
sauce
00:11:31
so it's 74 rubles 99
00:11:35
for one package now does anybody know on
00:11:38
the bottled or glass bottled Hines
00:11:40
they've got the 57 on there 57 varieties
00:11:43
now in Russia I'm pretty sure that we've
00:11:46
got about 15 or 20 of them of different
00:11:49
varieties a lot of people like to use
00:11:52
these on barbecues like when you're
00:11:54
eating sort of meats I just know this
00:11:56
one here I'm not sure
00:11:57
it's a limited edition one here
00:12:00
so yeah with Tomatoes right on the front
00:12:03
there so
00:12:05
yeah there's a lot of different
00:12:07
varieties actually there's the 57 right
00:12:09
there at the bottom
00:12:10
so anyone's ever seen the 57 varieties
00:12:14
or haven't seen them I think they're
00:12:16
right here in Russia
00:12:18
and then plenty of pastas there's the
00:12:21
whole aisle here of pastas now the only
00:12:24
thing that really bothers me when I come
00:12:26
to buy pasta in Russia is they got all
00:12:28
the pastas in one aisle and the actual
00:12:31
pasta sauces are nowhere near this same
00:12:34
aisle so you come to buy your pasta over
00:12:36
here then you spend about another five
00:12:38
or ten minutes going up and down the
00:12:40
aisles looking for all of the sauces
00:12:43
that you're going to make your pasta or
00:12:45
spaghetti with and things like that here
00:12:47
you can see
00:12:48
one of the brands here these are the
00:12:50
small little elbow pastas
00:12:53
this is 84 rubles for
00:12:56
450 grams
00:12:59
here is the long life milks actually in
00:13:03
Australia we would actually have a lot
00:13:05
of long life meal my wife and I that was
00:13:06
pretty much normal that we'd have in our
00:13:08
house it's kind of one of the home brand
00:13:10
ones here
00:13:11
for 79 rubles these are for one liter
00:13:15
containers
00:13:16
this one's actually got 970 ml this is
00:13:19
how they're sort of starting to do it
00:13:20
now right they take a few milliliters
00:13:21
out
00:13:22
73.99
00:13:26
so yeah if you want long life milk
00:13:29
and these are basically the house eggs
00:13:31
for their supermarket here
00:13:32
they're 92
00:13:35
.99 rubles
00:13:37
so the eggs in Russia are in a package
00:13:39
of 10 by the way not 12. so if that's a
00:13:42
factor if you're working out the price
00:13:44
differences I don't know why they don't
00:13:46
have a dozen eggs in Russia but it's
00:13:48
just how it is
00:13:49
and as we swing around over here
00:13:52
this kind of entire I guess about three
00:13:55
quarters of the Shelf is all mayonnaise
00:13:58
look how many types of mayonnaise you
00:14:00
have
00:14:01
it just goes on and on and there's
00:14:03
actually some refrigerated eggs tie on
00:14:05
the end there as well but a lot of
00:14:08
different flavors of mayonnaise
00:14:10
and then if my mum was here in Moscow
00:14:12
this would be her favorite section here
00:14:13
with all the Salamis
00:14:15
and all the keyword Meats
00:14:17
and again pretty much most of them are
00:14:22
packaged and prepared in store
00:14:24
so you'll see here
00:14:26
the staff behind the counter they're
00:14:28
doing all the weighing out of sizes and
00:14:30
weights of what you want to buy
00:14:32
and then there's all the hams on the
00:14:34
right hand side here
00:14:36
now I'm not going to show the entire
00:14:37
store because it just goes on and on and
00:14:39
on but I just want to focus on a few
00:14:40
different things
00:14:42
particularly
00:14:44
but after all the different Deli hams
00:14:49
it goes then into cheeses
00:14:52
and these are all the packaged cheeses
00:14:53
right here
00:14:55
and they've actually got little country
00:14:56
flags on them so you can see all the
00:14:58
countries
00:14:59
Russia
00:15:02
Switzerland so yeah we can still get
00:15:04
swiss cheese in Russia no problems at
00:15:07
all
00:15:08
now I'm not very good with all my
00:15:10
country flags but I'm pretty sure that's
00:15:13
Argentina right there
00:15:15
and then I think this one is Belarus
00:15:18
and of course there's quite a few other
00:15:20
Russian cheeses
00:15:21
looking all the way back down the Shelf
00:15:24
here
00:15:25
I think if I was to kind of count up the
00:15:27
amount of cheese varieties here there's
00:15:29
probably
00:15:30
70 80 90 types of cheese between the
00:15:34
kind of main Deli counter than all the
00:15:36
packaged cheese
00:15:37
over here and then it goes around to the
00:15:40
next aisle as well
00:15:42
so
00:15:44
yeah they've even got the big
00:15:46
ones in the fridge at the back there but
00:15:48
I reckon
00:15:49
60 70 80 I don't know how many varieties
00:15:52
they've got even under sanctions there's
00:15:54
still so many varieties of cheese
00:15:57
so I made it down to the bakery section
00:15:58
and being late Sunday night I guess
00:16:01
they're not doing any production right
00:16:02
now there is a couple of Bakers back
00:16:05
there
00:16:06
and we've got the one here that does the
00:16:07
lavash this is kind of the big heated
00:16:10
Kiln where they do the bread as well
00:16:12
and then all the bread
00:16:15
I reckon it's about 98 of the bread
00:16:18
that's sold in this store is all baked
00:16:19
in-house literally everything
00:16:22
so and there's a lot of varieties of
00:16:25
bread as well
00:16:26
so classic loaf of bread here half kilo
00:16:30
35 rubles 0.99
00:16:33
there's some kind of
00:16:35
I guess brown bread
00:16:37
kilo of brown bread there 64.99
00:16:42
so yeah there's a very reasonable prices
00:16:44
on bread now every time I go to a
00:16:47
supermarket and I see this American
00:16:49
sandwich bread Harry's right here
00:16:52
now you guys from the US I'm sure I
00:16:55
don't think maybe Harry's is a
00:16:56
well-known brand but have a look how
00:16:57
white this looks now I hope on the
00:16:59
camera it looks as wide as it really is
00:17:02
in the store here it's not particularly
00:17:04
cheap either
00:17:05
109 rubles for a half loaf
00:17:09
they like to do half loaves in Russia
00:17:11
they don't tend to do full loaves
00:17:12
terribly much but American sandwich
00:17:16
bread so I think as far back as covered
00:17:18
there was always shortages around the
00:17:20
world for toilet rolls and toilet paper
00:17:23
but here in Russia
00:17:25
no issues with stock pretty much all of
00:17:29
this is made somewhere either Moscow
00:17:31
Moscow region Saint Petersburg so it's
00:17:34
all readily available in Russia so
00:17:36
we'll just have a look here at a couple
00:17:38
of different types
00:17:40
they do even have kleenex here
00:17:42
so never we don't buy the kleenex one
00:17:44
personally we buy this ziwa right here
00:17:48
this is eight rolls
00:17:50
package
00:17:52
and it's uh 219 rubles
00:17:57
and then just coming over to the Beer
00:17:59
section the beer section is right across
00:18:01
from the toilet roll section of course
00:18:02
it is
00:18:03
there's a lot of choices of beers pretty
00:18:06
much everything's by the bottle here you
00:18:07
don't tend to buy it in a six pack or in
00:18:09
a case so you buy it individually so if
00:18:13
you just want one can or one bottle you
00:18:15
can
00:18:16
now Corona I'm sure everybody knows this
00:18:18
is imported so this is probably as high
00:18:20
as
00:18:21
a price of beer as you can find in
00:18:23
Moscow 100
00:18:25
49 rubles for a bottle but everybody
00:18:28
knows famously Corona has to come from
00:18:30
Mexico so
00:18:32
I got the canned ones down there as well
00:18:34
but
00:18:35
you do have a lot of choice this store
00:18:37
has a lot of German beers because Globus
00:18:40
is a German company
00:18:42
they obviously bring a lot of their own
00:18:44
Brands right over from Germany
00:18:46
I like how they combine their chips over
00:18:48
here as well so you buy your beer and
00:18:51
chips at the same time
00:18:54
and then there's the boutique beers as
00:18:56
well so if you want something a little
00:18:58
bit fancier
00:18:59
there's lots of choices
00:19:01
now I do kind of hope this video doesn't
00:19:03
end up getting too long and you are kind
00:19:06
of happy watching it uh it is actually a
00:19:08
little bit longer if I kind of point out
00:19:10
more products in the video and show all
00:19:12
the prices so as I head down the cool
00:19:14
drink and Chip aisle now I'm gonna have
00:19:16
a look at the sodas and see what they
00:19:17
have so maybe they've got some Coca-Cola
00:19:19
I wonder if they've got any Coca-Cola in
00:19:21
here
00:19:22
now looking at this section you'd almost
00:19:24
think that you're looking at Coca-Cola
00:19:26
but it's everything but Coca-Cola there
00:19:29
is
00:19:30
cool Cola
00:19:32
there's chilling golovka Cola
00:19:35
there's Bella cola this is the Coca-Cola
00:19:38
from Belarus Bella Cola uh there's
00:19:42
PV Cola
00:19:44
now I think it's an RC Cola they've got
00:19:47
in America
00:19:48
they've got PV Cola here
00:19:50
and then just moving down to the others
00:19:52
no Fanta we've got fancy
00:19:55
and then
00:19:57
there's the frusto which is kind of like
00:20:00
a lemon lime
00:20:01
and then Pepsi has done something a
00:20:04
little bit interesting so Pepsi we we
00:20:06
know has left the market in Russia
00:20:08
but Evers
00:20:11
is essentially the same product so if we
00:20:14
actually have a look on the back of the
00:20:16
packaging over here
00:20:18
right here
00:20:20
you'll see PepsiCo so this would
00:20:23
actually be the Miranda
00:20:25
right there
00:20:27
89 rubles for a bottle
00:20:31
so if anyone who's following the news
00:20:32
about all these brands that have left
00:20:34
Russia so the Coca-Cola brand that's
00:20:37
left Russia so the brand that's
00:20:40
magically appeared this is actually the
00:20:41
Coca-Cola fridges here is Dobra Cola so
00:20:46
there's actually Dobra orange there
00:20:48
darborough lemon so that will be Fanta
00:20:49
and Sprite
00:20:51
and then all the tonics
00:20:53
are now called Rich
00:20:55
so they're all very very available
00:20:57
they're all from the same Factory which
00:21:00
is called molten partners
00:21:02
as the cleaning lady just goes by so
00:21:04
yeah these are actually from the
00:21:05
Coca-Cola factories here in Moscow
00:21:07
region but the packaging is exactly the
00:21:11
same essentially what's inside the the
00:21:13
Dobra orange there is exactly like Fanta
00:21:16
so just like the shop where we went to
00:21:18
da
00:21:19
this has a lot of pet foods as well here
00:21:23
the kitty cat
00:21:25
so these uh kind of packages here 21.49
00:21:31
and then the whiskers
00:21:33
here there's a few flavors on special
00:21:36
I guess depending on which one you want
00:21:38
to get so down to 19 rubles
00:21:42
but have a look how many there are these
00:21:44
are obviously all the brands and the
00:21:45
different flavors but
00:21:47
there's a lot now all whiskers right
00:21:50
here
00:21:51
so these are all on special the uh
00:21:54
whiskers ones now I don't have a cat or
00:21:56
a dog myself we want to get a cat but
00:21:59
uh I would imagine
00:22:02
I don't know a cat's particular about
00:22:04
which one they're eating
00:22:05
you'll see all the dry food here as well
00:22:07
there's some more brands
00:22:09
so yeah there's no shortage of pet food
00:22:11
so not just to single out the cat lovers
00:22:15
here's the fish food no I really want to
00:22:18
show all of the dog
00:22:21
items I guess there's some fish lovers
00:22:23
as well oh there's some hamster food
00:22:25
there as well
00:22:26
rabbit food
00:22:28
oh my gosh I didn't realize oh here's
00:22:30
all the bird food
00:22:31
or bird seed
00:22:33
and then all of the
00:22:35
uh food for dogs here all the biscuits
00:22:39
pedigree definitely in Russia lots and
00:22:42
lots of it now
00:22:44
I really don't know pricing of these
00:22:47
so this is
00:22:49
2.2 kilos
00:22:52
537 rubles
00:22:54
I don't know if that sounds expensive I
00:22:56
guess I'll put the price up on the
00:22:57
screen and you can figure it out
00:22:59
but
00:23:01
yeah the entire aisle here of
00:23:03
dog foods
00:23:05
and it's kind of even like Gourmet ones
00:23:07
here and there's little cans
00:23:09
there isn't the kind of traditional cans
00:23:11
as much in Russia that you'd see in
00:23:13
Walmart or in Australia in Coals and
00:23:16
woolies
00:23:17
Asda in England
00:23:19
now I think in Appalachian Homestead
00:23:22
Petra's video she pointed out the kitty
00:23:24
litter I think if I'd mistake and I did
00:23:26
watch the entire video and three kilo
00:23:29
bag
00:23:30
there's about six pounds or so is 96
00:23:34
rubles
00:23:35
for three kilos
00:23:38
so just looking at the rest of the
00:23:39
variety section here there is uh pretty
00:23:42
much anything for your house so there's
00:23:43
the car section
00:23:45
here's the stuff for your
00:23:47
kitchen for your home
00:23:50
small appliances there's mostly just
00:23:52
things like kettles and toasters and
00:23:53
things like that here
00:23:55
they don't have any white Goods at all
00:23:56
but
00:23:57
there's also the gardening section off
00:23:59
in the distance
00:24:01
as we wrap back around there's a
00:24:03
clothing area
00:24:05
and all the winter boots are starting to
00:24:07
come out now the winter jackets
00:24:09
you'll see
00:24:11
quite a few different types here not
00:24:14
very very popular in here we're in a
00:24:15
massive shopping center here with about
00:24:17
250 stores so I'm pretty sure most
00:24:20
people aren't going to come to Globus to
00:24:22
get there shoes and jackets but
00:24:25
I definitely have some
00:24:27
so my wife's favorite area this
00:24:29
Supermarket here is the cleaning section
00:24:31
and here's all of the laundry powders
00:24:34
and liquids right here
00:24:36
and then all the stuff for your kitchen
00:24:40
there's the handy wipes there and the
00:24:43
sponges
00:24:44
and then
00:24:46
fairer dishwashing liquid
00:24:48
now I tend to buy the fairy dishwashing
00:24:51
liquid a lot because I do the dishes at
00:24:52
home
00:24:53
and
00:24:54
this is the
00:24:56
kind of bottle that we tend to buy it's
00:24:58
900 milliliters for 199 rubles now I
00:25:02
know this has gone up in price
00:25:04
over the last six or eight months
00:25:07
maybe there's a certain ingredient in
00:25:08
there that's not commonly available in
00:25:11
Russia
00:25:12
let's kind of put the price up and
00:25:13
there's all of the
00:25:15
kind of room sprays and things like that
00:25:17
and smellies
00:25:21
so just walking on a little bit further
00:25:23
here you can see the amount of people
00:25:24
here for Sunday night now I did point
00:25:27
this out in the other video and the
00:25:30
people still keep questioning me about
00:25:32
these small baskets
00:25:34
they're pretty much the way that
00:25:37
everybody likes to do their shopping
00:25:39
here in Russia you'll see somebody has a
00:25:41
basket right there so people do use
00:25:43
baskets but they're just not nearly as
00:25:45
popular
00:25:46
a lot of people won't drive to the
00:25:48
shopping center they'll come by public
00:25:50
transport so the Metro
00:25:52
and bus station is right here as well
00:25:55
here's all the uh
00:25:57
clean uh the hygiene products for men's
00:26:00
and ladies right here
00:26:02
so
00:26:03
you'll see these baskets are kind of
00:26:05
everywhere
00:26:06
and a lot of people will just basically
00:26:07
buy one or two bags worth of things they
00:26:10
won't necessarily do like a big shot
00:26:12
because they've got to catch public
00:26:13
transport home
00:26:14
here is all the toothpaste and
00:26:16
toothbrushes
00:26:18
it's a fairly classic
00:26:21
tube of Colgate
00:26:23
101.99 rubles
00:26:26
so probably this store doesn't look as
00:26:28
tidy as what da did but it's very well
00:26:32
stocked it has a lot of products I just
00:26:35
think they uh they concentrate a whole
00:26:37
lot more here on just refilling and
00:26:39
getting stuff out
00:26:41
maybe not necessarily on the kind of
00:26:43
perfection and look of the store
00:26:46
there's all of the pickled vegetables
00:26:50
see all the gherkins and different uh
00:26:53
vegetables that are pickled
00:26:56
so the one thing that isn't nearly as
00:26:58
popular in Russia too is frozen foods
00:27:01
there is so much Fresh Foods that you
00:27:04
don't really need to buy frozen food too
00:27:06
much there is literally two aisles of it
00:27:08
here these are about three quarter
00:27:10
length aisles
00:27:11
a good amount of it is actually taken up
00:27:13
by pilmene which is the
00:27:15
the dumplings with Meats in there then
00:27:19
actually on the other side of this aisle
00:27:21
is all of the ice creams
00:27:23
obviously with colder weather coming on
00:27:25
now not nearly as possible as popular
00:27:29
but you'll see there's not that many
00:27:30
people in the frozen section
00:27:32
okay everybody so I really want to thank
00:27:34
everybody for watching this video it's
00:27:36
kind of a bit of a follow-up to the DAR
00:27:37
Supermarket video but it's in a little
00:27:40
bit of a more upscale kind of
00:27:42
Supermarket kind of a middle
00:27:45
middle income I guess at a supermarket I
00:27:47
mean a lot of people shop here no matter
00:27:48
what their income is and salary is but
00:27:51
maybe a tiny bit higher prices
00:27:53
uh not very high but yeah I hope you
00:27:56
like this if you did give it a thumbs up
00:27:58
uh post a comment let me know what you
00:28:00
think uh just comparing maybe the two
00:28:02
supermarkets or what your supermarket's
00:28:04
like at home uh you know this isn't
00:28:06
perfect tidy like the DAR was but you
00:28:10
know this is a high turnover Supermarket
00:28:12
so there's a lot of people shopping here
00:28:14
literally you can see that walking
00:28:16
around so yeah if you uh are new to the
00:28:21
